Erotic romance author by night, emergency room tech/clerk by day, Marteeka Karland works really hard to drive everyone in her life completely and totally nuts. She has been creating stories from her warped imagination since she was in the third grade. Her love of writing blossomed throughout her teenage years until it developed into the totally unorthodox and irreverent style her English teachers tried hard to rid her of.

I didn't really care for this book. My first problem was the price. It was entirely too much money for approximately 70 pages of story, but I was in a "spending" type of mood. I read the sample and was curious enough to get it, even though I knew it wouldn't be worth what I would pay.

I will try to sum up: chubby, slighty attractive, hacker girl from Earth agrees to trial marriage with tall, hot, alien warrior from a planet that needs women. Hacker girl is timid with hints of bravado, totally intriguing Alien Warrior. She doesn't want to fall in love and is reluctant to go, but wants food. (There is a sentence or two of back story which says she's had a bad relationship. That explains why she's hesitant. I'm still not sure why Alien Warrior is afraid to get emotionally involved.) By the way, his name is Worr and his brother's name is Kil. Yes. I paid money for this.

Not too far into the story, our couple gets caught in a mercenary attack. Alien dude says, "barricade yourself in the bathroom 'til I get back." He whips out an energy sword (or something like that) and heads to battle. Stupid hacker girl says, "he can't go out there alone! I can hear projectile weapons! With only my computer skills, a can of hairspray, and a lighter, I will join him and guard his back! Here, let me take his taser with refill cartridges I don't know how to use also!" And now, boys and girls, we've leapt with all our limbs flailing to and fro into the Too-Stupid-To-Live bus. Other bullshit ensues.

Eventually, hacker girl and alien boy proclaim their love to one another as they have the most momentous sex of both of their lives. With each other, I should add. But there is no resolution. Nobody knows who has hired all the mercenaries, yet they always seem to know where to find alien boy, hacker girl and friends. Sex is had, story is over. Quite frankly, I feel like I've been had like a cheap date.

I will end this review with the note I wrote at Location 493, which is about 43% into the book:

Screw you, book. Screw you.
