Evan Arden #2.5

Uncockblockable

Rate this book
Nick Wolfe is famous in Chicago – or is that infamous? He’s not only known as the illegitimate son of Mafia boss Rinaldo Moretti, but also as an unstoppable ladies’ man. He always seems to get the girl in the end, even when everyone around tries to plot against him. He’s a party guy, doesn’t work, and spends all his time picking up chicks and making notches on his headboard. He's the ultimate ladies man...or is that man-whore? Until he meets her, and she turns the tables on him.

This short story takes place in the world of Evan Arden from Otherwise Alone and Otherwise Occupied, but it is not necessary to read those stories first to enjoy Uncockblockable!

I've said it before and I'll say it again; no one writes cocky, arrogant and brutally honest male POV's like Shay Savage's does! I've loved every single one of her deliciously loveable bad boy male leads, and this time was no exception!

♦ This time she introduces us to Nick Wolfe - parttime maffia son, fulltime womanizer. ♦

Yes, you all know the type: handsome, charming and a different girl in his bed every night.

But being inside his head was fun, hilarious and highly entertaining!

♦ So far Nick has always been uncockblockable.

With his fake Brittish accent and his made up stories about being a tortured war hero, he manages to charm off the panties of any girl he comes across.

But what happens when he runs into a girl who doesn't fall for his usual charm?

Read this novella and find it out for yourself! ;-)

P.S.:Uncockblockable is part of the Evan Arden-series and although it can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the first two parts of the series first, because of the few references to the first two books of the series.

4 I Have To Adjust To The Fact, Nick Is Off The Market Stars

Thanks to one of my Besties, Shurrn... Delicious

This was a treat... a little something to enjoy and linger over.
It was done in between Otherwise Occupied and Otherwise Unharmed. It is about the illegitimate son of one of Chicago's major Mafia families.

Nick is special... he has all the charm and savvy to make him very dangerous but not in the way Evan is, no his danger is focused on womankind. Nick is the perfect package... body... check, looks...check, and swift quick agile mind which can work a line better than anyone... check check.

We get a taste of Nick in action... We get to see how he is able to multi-task by handling his physical needs while texting at the same time. He even has the rare ability to improvise a legitimate cover which will excuse him calling out the wrong name when engrossed in his favorite activity.

But the best is when he becomes tongue-tied and cannot think or make coherent sentences when he meets HER. Everything flys out of his head and he is left acting as a mere mortal.

This a very short story written with the sharp humor and wit of Shay Savage. It is also written with love as a portion of the proceeds go towards the cancer treatment costs of the man the book is dedicated to.

I love it when something difficult can stimulate something wonderful and by purchasing and reading this book... good things can happen.

Nick Wolfe's story is a quicky which leaves the reader both panting & satisfied...

"I didn’t marry the mob; I was born into it.
Nick Wolfe is the illegitimate son of a Chicago Mob Boss...
He doesn't have to worry about anything accept perfecting his pickup game...
And the man is a master...
He is Uncockblockable...
The man cannot be cockblocked...

Confession: although this book was intended to come between books two and three, I skipped it to go straight to Otherwise Unharmed. I'm not good with Cliffhangers, and Otherwise Occupied had a doozy. That being said, reading this Novella at the end did not diminish my enjoyment, nor did it adversely affect my immense enjoyment of the Evan Arden Trilogy as a whole.

Nick Wolfe is the Yin to Evan Arden's Yang... Throughout the Trilogy, they are friendly (well, as friendly as Evan can be with anyone) but not particularly close. Both have some formidable bedroom skills, first class dirty talk, and are hazardous to the health of anyone who doesn't want to get mixed up in the Chicago Mafia scene.

But Nick Wolfe is playful where Evan Arden was intense.
However, his story packed the same erotic punch that Otherwise Alone had.

I would have liked to have seen another chapter or two for Milena & Nick to address the elephant in the room... You know the whole West Side Story of Modern Day Chicago thing they've got going on... A little bit of attention played on that would have probably increased my rating from a four to a five star... But we DO get to see more of the couple in the final book of the Evan Arden series... So that's nice, I suppose.

This was a fairly quick, hot read about Nick Wolfe who we met in the Evan Arden Trilogy. Fast paced, hot, did I already say hot. Yep, Nick is a bit of a dawg but when he meets the right woman he falls hard…. Yes HARD. Pun intended.

Enjoy and thanks Angie for lending it to me!

"You want to know about the worst blowjob I ever had? Yeah, it was awesome."

It's pretty incredible how much of this short story/novella I highlighted. So many lines and moments that make me feel like a badass just to read them. Therein lies the talent of Shay Savage. If I were a man, my penis size would have just grown...that's how badass her books are.
"Chicago and the mafia - how fucking cliche' is that? Well, it is cliche'. I can't help that - I didn't marry the mob; I was born into it..."

This is set in the world of Evan Arden...psychotic assassin and hit man for Chicago's big mafia boss. This is the story of Mr Boss man's illegitimate son, Nick Wolfe. Living as an untouchable ladies man is the best...Nick's life consists of living rich and f**king as many women as he wants. He is a master of persuasion when it comes to the fairer sex. No matter that his friends constantly try to cock block him, Nick is a sly creeper :D:D

Until he meets the right girl...and he's blindsided by how much more he wants from her...
"The thing is? I like talking to women. Why? Because they like to talk. Talking to guys is freaking aggravating - it's all the same shit - girls they've fucked, video games, guns, sports - it's totally boring. Talking to women is different. For starters, women will talk about anything int the world, from books, to politics, to religion, to their menstrual cramps - nothing's taboo. Every group you sit down with will be having a totally different conversation."

Nick's story was entertaining, an especially fun little tidbit to balance out the brutality of book two, Otherwise Occupied.

My favorite part of the book was the tiny glimpse into the way people perceive Evan. He's one scary dude, but it's harder to see while reading his own story. Here we get a taste of Evan from the outside, and yeah....he's one scary, crazy mofo.

"I didn't marry the mob; I was born into it."
When I saw this trickle across my Goodreads homepage I had to read it right away. It's Shay Savage and I just could not resist. I'm sure I've said this before, and some of my friends mentioned it in their reviews of her other books, but it is amazing to me how Shay is able to tap into the male mind. She creates these man-whore, douchebag, randy, wild male characters that we should hate, but we can't help but love them.
description
In this book we meet twenty-five year old Nick Wolfe the illegitimate son of mafia boss Rinaldo Moretti. I couldn't remember much about Nick from Otherwise Occupied, so before starting this I searched for and re-read his scenes in that book. Evan seemed to like him, and I could tell right away he was a ladies man. Nick puts the "whore" in man-whore. He proclaims himself to be uncockblockable, and here's the thing, he really is. He proved it. His friends and step-sister tried a few times to cock block him, but Nick weaved his web of lies and got the girl every time. Females are just posts in his bed to him. I'm not usually team man whore but Nick is a likable character. Sure he lies, and gives females a wrong telephone number, and refuses to commit to one woman, but I still liked him. He's an easily likable character, because he's honest about who he is, and what he wants. For instance, he states plainly that he's a bum, and says he just wants to f*ck chicks. "Jonathan said I was a professional bum, and I was kinda okay with that." Even though his father is a crime boss, Nick doesn't really do any of the dirty or hard work. He's kind of just there floating around, lazing by.
description
All of this changes when Nick sees Milena. Remember this guy lies in his sleep, but when he sees her he is unable to form a coherent sentence. Milena becomes creeped out by Nick's stalkerish, open mouthed staring and wants nothing to do with him. Finally Nick is cockblocked, but get this... he cock blocks himself.
"I had made a completely uncharacteristic fool of myself, and I didn't know what to do about it. I was used to being all smooth and always getting exactly who I wanted, and I had a pretty good idea I had blown my one and only chance with her."

description
There is no crazy cliffhanger, no hair-pulling angst. Its just a story about a guy who meets a girl who changes his entire life. I love when the "I'm going to be a bachelor for life" type guys fall for a girl... they're usually the ones who fall hard.
"Thoughts and memories of every other woman I had ever encountered- every single cliche notch on the bedpost- faded from my mind."
description
There are a few great laugh out loud moments in this book, and it was a pleasure to see Evan being normal (well as normal as he can be) before shit hit the fan. This is a short, cute read. Just what I need to tide me over until the release of Book three.

ETA 4.15.2025 : Upon my 2nd read of this novella years later, I decided to upgrade my rating from 4 to 5 🌟

***Very Mild Spoilers***

Okay, the title to this one alone, had me cracking up. When I first saw this word in book 2 of this series, I couldn't stop laughing. Now having read the actual story, I was laughing a lot. I don't know, Nick just had that ability to put me into a fit of giggles.

I really enjoyed being stuck in Nick's mind for a brief time. And I was more than thrilled that his perspective was changed, when it came to his personal dealings with the fairer sex. And I must say, that last scene, when he got hit in the balls? HILARIOUS!!!

This was a nice brief interlude/break, before you dive into the final conclusion of Evan Arden I'm on my way to that book now.

I would definitely recommend this read/trilogy. Please start at the beginning.

Can Shay Savage do no wrong? NO, SHE CAN'T!!!

This little morsel of goodness has tied me over waiting for the third book in the Evan Arden trilogy. Taking place in that world but having little to do with the actual plot thread, it was a very satisfying story of how Nick wolfe, bastard son of the famed mob boss, Rinaldo Moretti, from the Evan Arden world, and experienced man-whore, finally met his match and changed his world.

Told in Nick's POV, we see how Nick always gets who he wants. There is no one, no thing that can stop him from getting some action. People have tried to stump his efforts, sabotage his plans but what Nick wants, Nick gets. And it's alway between a woman's legs, lol!

That is until he meets Milena. His world is shattered, his usual lines that deliver success 100% of the time are no longer applicable. He is at a loss for words--literally!--and finds himself at her mercy. He wants to know her, be with her, not just his usual one night stand-type stuff but the real deal.

I love seeing a ladies' man brought down to his knees! I love the satisfaction of watching a smooth operator come up short. It's beautiful to see and being written from Nick's POV makes it all the more sweeter!

I will read anything Shay Savage writes. I have read and loved everything Shay Savage has written so that is no feat. Loved this! and can't wait for book 3 in this trilogy!!

Genre: romance
Steam: mid-high
POV: Nick's
Cliffy: None. But room to grow, with an assumed HEA.

2. Pussy was always good, and anal was a nice alternative, but there was nothing like seeing a chick on her knees in front of me, looking up with soft eyes, and giving me the impression she was praying to my dick.

There's a lot more to Uncockblockable then what I've added and I've probably done the story monumental disservice. But the humor had me busting stitches, I couldn't stop laughing! Five star excellent read! Hope you enjoy as much as I did!

I loved it!!!

I know I'm sounding like a stuck record but Shay Savage's stories are like a breath of fresh air.
Short story this time around and it focuses on Nick.
Nick who is one of Evans friends from Otherwise Occupied only does one night stands.
He is very different to Evan too. He's so much more chilled and softer if that's the right word.
Being part of a Mafia family for which he has no real involvement and has no interest to start doing so. He's main focus is meeting up with friends and picking women up to become another notch on his bedpost.
That's until he meets Milena...........

My thoughts
Love Nicks POV, The whole story had me laughing out loud and I had a permanent smile on my face.
Yes he's a jerk!! but not really in a bad way. He's funny and his friends do their best to wind him up all the time.
We do get to read about Evan but its a very small role as this is Nicks story.
Its set midway into Otherwise Occupied.
I love Shay Savages style of writing if you do too you will love this.
So another great story whilst we wait for Evan Arden.
And on one final note, I would love to read more about Nick and Milena

Just this name says it all :P

This was short and sweet and I want more hie hie, but I really enjoyed this book. Nick yum, I don't know if I want to be associated with you, seeing as your are the big bosses son, but I wouldn't mind one evening lol!

I hope he is also in the next book and the story continues because I know there is some more and I'm actually scared if Evan is involved haha!

Nick is a player and he only does one night stands (See I can help him out hiehie), and he lies to girls, not cool Nick but then again haven't we all lied before when it comes to a one night stand hahaha! And he is uncockblockable, because he always gets what he wants and so the story continues.

I guess you can read this book as a stand alone, but it would be best to read the series, because Evan is in it, and the other 2 books is about Evan. So best you read the first book in the series.

Buy it and read it, some of the proceeds is going to a good cause! xx

Now to decide what to read next.

Over and out. x

A quickie novella about the infamous Nick
I liked this one, but it wasn't too satisfying. I think that's the problem with novellas, they're just too short for me to really grow invested in the characters.
I didn't like how Nick went from 60 to 0 in the blink of an eye. He goes from a smart-mouthed, flirty playboy to a bumbling idiot at his first sight of her. It just didn't fit. I also wanted a little more from the ending; it was too rushed for my tastes.
Though we do get more answers in Otherwise Unharmed.

Fame or infamy? I don’t know; I just know it gets me laid.

Short novella about the bastard son of one of Chicago’s crime boss; Nick Wolfe’s only occupation is to bed as many woman as he can. Playing games and wetting his cock is his only pleasure, that is until he meets her, everything about her makes him changes his ways and for once attempt the truth. Who knew the one person who would cockblock is himself. This was a quick fun read, insta-everything. I wonder if we’re gonna get more of Nick’s story ?!?

4 Stars!

I don't think I could ever rate anything written by Shay Savage lower than 4 stars. She's such a brilliant author, I'm fascinated with her writing style. Everything I've read of hers so far I've either really liked or flat out loved... and this novella is no exception. She is an undeniable master of the male POV - and have I ever mentioned how much I love a proper male POV? It's my personal crack. When it's well done is about as cool and orgasmic as a literary experience can possibly be. Shay Savage is freaking awesome.

We met Nick Wolfe in the Evan Arden series, one of my favourite series ever. I was instantly drawn to Nick and his manwhore ways and I admit I was intrigued to find out more about him. Not only is he the reigning champ of uncockblockability (great new word added to my wtf dictionary), but he's the bastard son of one of the biggest mob bosses in Chicago. He has the makings of an interesting and exciting hero and I almost wish he had gotten a full length novel, because I know I would have devoured it. I'm sure Shay Savage would have made it absolutely decadent. He's got no qualms in bullshitting his way to a good shag and who the hell cares what the girl's name is as long as she's moaning his name and writhing beneath him? He's the quintessential player, no apologies, no regrets!

That is until Milena. She's from a rival mob family, she's got the most perfect rainbow eyes, and the poor bastard has no chance the minute he sets his eyes on her. It's insta-lust (dangerously bordering on insta-love but thank God it didn't quite go there). She turns his world upside down in a flash and just like that his days collecting notches on the bedpost seem to be over.

This is a very short novella, it's not as satisfying as a longer, fuller developed book would be, but it's still packed with the great quotes I've come to associate with Shay's writing (some of the other reviews I've seen here feature quotes). It was a total blast to read, as gritty and real as her Arden books. It's great that in such a short story, she develops Nick and Milena to the point where they feel real, like people living this very moment, somewhere in Chicago. I love this author and will probably read everything she writes.

He's hot, funny, sexy - a total twat to woman... but we love him!

She's definitely his match!

A great spin-off, beautifully written and genuinely the best first person, male POV that I've read in a long time.

Shay completed captured this uncockblockable man!
Nick could melt chocolate by looking at it!

People don’t forget me.
Fame or infamy? I don’t know; I just know it gets me laid.

Loved Nick's novella! It was perfect. Nick is the bastard son of the Chicago mob boss. He knows he will never follow in his father's footsteps and he is totally fine with it.
I don’t really have the head for the crime, and I don’t have the heart for the violence.
Nick spends his days, evenings and nights hooking up with women. It is impossible to cockblock Nick, no matter how often his friends try to. Nick can talk himself out of any given situation and he will still get laid.
Maybe I was a man-whore – I didn’t know.
Maybe I was just bored.
Until he meets Milena. Uncockblockable Nick gets cockblocked - by no one other than himself.
Maybe being famous to just one person would be all right with me.
This novella was super funny and I loved getting Nick's point of view in this trilogy. I didn't see much of him in the previous two books, so this was a very nice surprise. I liked seeing how Evan is perceived by others. I never realized what a scary, intimidating and respected man he was until I saw him through Nick's eyes. Now that Nick has found his other half, I am curious to see if he will play a bigger part in the next book. I am willing to bet he will because of who that particular girl is...
No doubt – I had decided being cockblocked wasn’t that bad after all.
As long as I was with her.

If you have read one sex scene written by Shay Savage, you have read all the sex scenes written by her. Don't waste $0.99 on one even if a portion of the proceeds go to a good cause. Just give directly to the charity. Nick's inner voice is humorous and it is mildly interesting to see Evan Arden through a supporting character's eyes, but this is little more than a PWP.

I believe I have become a fan of the way the author writes male POV.

This part of the Evan Arden series is actually not about Evan Arden. I have to admit, when I realized that, I was not sure I would like it. Also, with all the feelings that ending of Otherwise Occupied left me with, I was worried I'd just drop this, and go straight to Otherwise Unharmed because... THAT ENDING! However, from the very beginning I did like it, and by the end I liked very, very much.

Given it's a small insight into Nick Wolfe's life, Evan's boss's illegitimate son, also known for being successful in getting women, so successful he had a reputation of being uncockblockable, you simply know you'll get some interesting stories. They showed the man can not be blocked, no matter the attempts of some people to throw him off his game. His exploits were mentioned before, and it was fun seeing it first hand.

Just when I thought Uncockblockable would be a collection of just a few Nick's adventures, she came along, and caused an interesting turn of events, making the uncockblockable man cockblock himself. I'll just say the Nick from this part was adorable. I hope we'll get a chance to see how it all developed from that point on.

All in all, this was a nice, fluffy read after the nerve-wrecking ending of Otherwise Occupied. Since this was happening in the same time frame as the previous book, we got a few glimpses of Evan. The little time Nick spent with him showed what Evan ended up doing was a long time coming, and, as much Nick's story was sweet and as much as I enjoyed it, I am more than ready to see how Evan's ends.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this! Nick's book was perfect! I was literally laughing my ass off within the first few pages!

Nick is famous in Chicago, but he's not exactly sure if that is a good thing or not. He's the illegitimate son of a mafia crime boss, and local womanizer. He spends his days NOT working and his nights working the women. He's know for one night stands, but none of the women seem to mind.

Nick works hard at his one night stands and does what it takes to please a women. He's not just another local playboy though...he's a crime boss' son. While he isn't involved directly in the family business, it always seems to be connected to him. So when he's not out looking for the next hook-up he's doing what his father says, and trying to remain who he is at the same time.

While Nick is a total badass all it takes is that one woman to knock him on his ass! Serves him right though. He sees her at the bar, but is so dumbstruck he isn't even able to form a word. She just stares at him and thinks he's crazy and takes off. Nick can't seem to get her out of his mind though...he has to find her. He does, but once again he is so shocked at her beauty that no thoughts or words are produced and he's left looking like a complete ass.

Will Nick ever find his "perfect" girl? You'll definitely want to read to find out!

Remember that Shay Savage writes the male POV like no other, that alone is reason enough to buy the book!

After the near meltdown I experienced after finishing Otherwise Occupied, Uncockblockable was a welcomed escape. Nick Thorne, bastard son and professional bum has mastered the art of getting women into bed. No matter what the circumstance or the wrenches his friends throw into the mix, he can overcome them and still seal the deal.

But that is all about to change. When he sees her - there is only one person that is standing in his way of making his move... himself. There is just something about Melina that makes this manslut drop all the lines and games.

Nick was such a fun character to get a chance to explore... nothing like the hard edges of Evan. Beyond the sizzle that he creates in his wake, there were so many laugh out loud moments that just hit the spot.

"You want to know about the worst blowjob I ever had? Yeah - it was awesome."

I love the way that Shay Savage has completely mastered the cocky male point of view. This little novella should not be missed while reading the trilogy.

A nice diversion between emotional heavy hitters, Uncockblockable was the funny light fare I needed after Otherwise Occupied and before Otherwise Unharmed. Although I thought Nick's journey from unrepentant womanizer to head over heels in love was a little too fast even for novella pacing, his player antics definitely made me laugh out loud. Now if only this had a different title......sigh

I couldn't get into this one at all but it's so short I finished it anyway. More freaking anal sex, I swear this author is obsessed. And then totally cliché insta-love. Meh. Not a fan.

Loved it!!!

I had actually forgotten who Nick was, so had to scan through Otherwise Occupied for Nick's name before I began reading. Which was a smart thing to do, because the Nick scenes that are mentioned in Otherwise Occupied are in THIS story. (Remember he said he was a body painter to pick up a girl?)

Wasn't sure what to think at first, Nick is totally different from Evan and Bastain. He is a self-proclaimed man-whore, but not really a Bad-A like the other two. I couldn't imagine at first how this character and his story was going to grab me and engage me like Bastain and Evan did... I've said over and over that I love anything Shay Savage writes, and as I started reading this story, I thought, "What if I don't like it and I have to amend that thought?" Well, no worries. My position on Shay Savage's writing still stands!!! If she writes it, I'll read it and love it. (4 for 4 so far!)

This story is sooo funny! I laughed out loud several times! Jonathan is probably responsible for my BIGGEST laugh!

Like with everything else I've read by Savage, I was enjoying the ride but had NO IDEA where it was going to take me. Expect the unexpected is kind of how I proceed - feeling like anything could happen. She never promises a happy ending, so I didn't read it expecting to get one (didn't read expecting an unhappy ending either - just READ!) Was not disappointed with anything!

We do get to see a little bit of Evan! Yea! (Of course it's not enough - still can't wait for his next book this fall!!)

There are soooo many quoteable quotes! I think my favorite is:
"You want to know about the worst blowjob I ever had? Yeah -- it was awesome." Did I mention that I LOVE Nick!!
