When her disguise almost gets her killed, she’s saved by one of New York’s most eligible bachelors. His private life is filled with secrets and his story sparks Amy’s interest. Discovering the truth lands her in a world of vampires and werewolves that she never dreamed existed. She also didn't dreamed she could truly love a man or vampire but Marcus shows her the light. Now the two must fight the one person who can destroy their chance at love. With the help of Marcus’ clan of werewolves the war begins.
I’m a writer, author, word warrior! I owned an independent bookstore for many years in my 20’s and 30’s. So it should be obvious, I LOVE BOOKS. Fiction or non-fiction it doesn’t matter. I hated self-help but then found Og Mandino. I hated French history and the game of chess and then discovered The Eight by Katherine Neville. I’ve stopped limiting myself to what I think I like.
That brings me to paranormal fiction. It’s a passion of mine. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, zombies, angels and demons, I read them all. I’ve wanted to write a vampire/werewolf novel for a long time. Taking a break from another series (aka Suzie Ivy The Bad Luck Detective), I decided to write the story screaming inside my head. The Fang Chronicles Book I almost wrote itself. No research or trying to remember a specific conversation, all I needed to do was keep the names straight.
I really don’t know where to start first so I am just going to cut to the chase here, the plot is different and good but the author really needs a better beta reader and editor because this book is really full of mistakes. If you don’t know what headhopping is your fixing to learn. Headhopping is where a writer will start out a chapter with one person’s POV and then without notice before the chapter ends the POV will change to a different character and just about every chapter in this book has this. I really felt lost quite a few times because of the headhopping. I’m not a big complainer about grammar mistakes because my grammar itself is bad, so you know if I find mistakes it's not good.
The plot is very different and I did enjoy how the paranormal characters were more hard core. They do kill humans or others paranormal creatures to keep each other safe, so these vampires and shifters don’t have that stupid sparkle. I liked the heroine at first she seemed really real but before you know it she suddenly stated to just take to all the changes way to fast without question.
I felt like Amy and Marcus romance was a tad rushed therefore, I didn’t find that spark that I love to read between the main characters. The sex scenes are good but I just didn’t feel the heat between them. I do have to give this author praise she kept the romance first and far most, even above the world build, I find some authors have a really hard time doing this.
3.75 Stars PNR Loved this one. Didn't care for bk#2. Could have been my mood. This author is Hit & Miss for me. Some of her books I love, some not so much. All have delightful intimate steamy sexy times.
Author's other pen name is Holly S. Roberts I still follow this author under both of her names. She is definitely worth a try if you haven't read her yet.
Ok, I've been reading way to many paranormal YA books just to find a good fill to vampires and werewolves. Nothing wrong with YA, but I'm happy to have stumbled upon this little gem, because this is much more for the grown and mature. I'm glad that this book returned to some of the old traditions of what a werewolf (or "beastkind") and vampires should be. Bringing more of the carnal instincts of a wolf, and FINALLY a vampire who sleeps in the day! But I also like the authors take on the relationship between the two creatures, it was symbiotic. I really liked the character Amy. She was a grown woman. She had a career, a life ahead of her, she lived on her own, and knew how to take care of herself. Her decisions were of her own. Therefore, it only made her relationships and connections with other characters more real, wholesome, and reasonable. There was a lot of emotions involved in this book, pertaining to love as a passion (children be warned), love as a mother, and love as a family. A very enjoyable read.
This is Fang Chronicles: Amy’s Story written by D’Elen McClain. What a crazy new world we enter with this one. Vampires and shifters, oh my! You will love Amy even if you yell at her for her disregard for safety when she is chasing a story. And who wouldn’t drool over a perfectly beautiful vampire with a sweet and vicious side? Marcus will make you swoon as the alpha vampire of a werewolf shifter clan. And I dare you not to love Alba as she protects Amy. It’s gonna be an awesome series!
Refreshingly different spin on the vampire/werewolf yarn! I like it! The only thing I didn't like...the editing. I could have easily given this 5 starts if not for the shoddy editing. The characters were intense. I was so happy to see such a strong alpha in Alba, I was DEVASTATED by her loss! I wasn't really expecting it and it was an unwelcomed surprise. I look foward to Emily's Story. This Fang Chronicles may be one of the better reads for me this year!

I would recommend this to anyone that loves paranormal books or if you are wanting to try one for the first time. It is very well written and sets you up to read the series without making you feel like you are being feed nothing but background for what is to come. I laughed, I cried, and laughed some more. I sign of a great author is one that can kill off a character that you love, leaves you crying and still can not wait to keep reading. Well done!
This was really good. I loved that the werewolf or werebeasts were old school, or at least to me they were. After all they eat their prey. But this was such an easy read. It flowed nicely and I became invested in the characters . By the end I was so bummed even though I knew what was going to happen I just hated it. It was really pretty sad. But now I cant wait to read the next one.
Really liked the story. Interesting twist on wolves and vampires. I have read this series out of order so I wanted to read from the start to see what I missed I read books 4 and 5 in two different purchases that had other stories in them. I got hooked. The end made me cry...great read! Some typos that need to be fixed! That is the only thing stopping me from a five star rating!
Amy is a reporter trying to track down her next big story, the struggles of being a young escort while there is a murderer on the loose. When she is attacked by this very man someone with beautiful amber eyes comes to her rescue and she awakes in a home with a kind looking woman. Alba protects her from the other men and has her returned for she will play a larger part in their lives than any of them could ever imagine.
Marcus has loved and lost over the years and does not believe that he will ever love again after Victoria; but when he saves Amy from her attacker she smells just as sweet as his lost love. Unable to bring himself to do what is normal he brings her into his home and tells her all of their secrets. Could this strange female that his fiercest warrior is protecting with her life really be the missing part of his life?
This book will wrap you around it's finger and make you gasp for breath if you are forced from it's pages during the read. Truly a captivating story where you feel each emotion of the characters and they become your family as well. This story is beautiful even if it does end on a bittersweet note. If there are more in this series it will be one I seek out and I invite you to do the same. Good luck!
I don't even know what to say. I fell in love with the dragons and decided to see what the Fang Chronicles were all about. This book did not disappoint. It was a unique twist on the shifters, vampires and world of paranormal. Amy is a character that grew on me. As she found where she was meant to be her strength and resolve just warmed me to the core. She was so fierce in protecting her family. It was tangible as you read and followed along. Marcus is a formidable vampire that does not take to change when it involves a woman. It was so comical at times how he would be swooning and then thinking about killing her in the beginning. Ivan the alpha was a perfect brother for Marcus and brought a great dynamic between the two of them. He was almost the yin to Marcus' yang where leadership was regarded. Alba oh I loved her from the very first moment I met her. I understand what the author did but boy did I have my words in my head with her. She was just an epically amazing character that even after you read this story she will stick with you. If you love shifter and paranormal romance then this is a must to check out. I'm already hooked.
Any book that references Stephanie Meyer in a positive way is an immediate dislike from me. The whole thing was cringe and Amy had no backstory until the last few chapters. Marcus had more backstory before she did even if it was vague and stupidly mysterious. I’ve read WAY BETTER vamp fic than this. There was no LORE. There was no PLOT. And worst of all the the characters were 2-dimensional, flat pack, pre-sets that had no personality and no reason for me to care whether or not they lived. And don’t even get me started on the mess that was Victoria. She was CLEARLY two different characters mashed together BADLY to make an antagonist. Not a Villain an ANTAGONIST. She was weak and only made an appearance in the last 6th of the book.
Nothing I read here would entice me to read any further books in this series.
I received a free copy from BookBub, I had heard it was self published and had been rewritten so I was expecting much. First, I feel that anyone reading paranormal has to have a certain leniency, not many paranormal literary masterpieces out there, so it’s annoying when readers expect them to be:) that said I enjoyed this book.
The book follows Marcus a sexy vampire, broody.. but not too broody.. and Amy a human journalist. I liked that the story moved along. We didn’t waste chapters on Amy denying her feelings or refusing to believe paranormals existed. She didn’t freak out ... which was so refreshing.
I liked the “pack” set up. It was very creative. Overall good read, and I’d recommend it 🤓
I’m rereading this book series and I think I enjoyed it more now then the first time. I will say that I found myself bored towards the end but that’s very normal for me. I enjoyed the creativity of the storyline because in a lot of ways it was original. I look forward to rereading the rest of the series and seeing how my opinion has changed. I have this three stars because although it was a pleasant and page turning read I can understand why I completely forgot about it for some time. The characters aren’t “wow” or something special. The personalities are what you expect in a paranormal book, with the exception of Alba.
I liked the story; especially the twists from "standard" Urban Fantasy vampires and werewolves. I did not really like the way the "villain" was introduced and the kind of werewolf racism against other shapeshifter species.
The main love story was not as interesting as the worldbuilding, although the female protagonist was depicted as a stronger character than in most recent Urban Fantasy stories.
The book and its successor are free at the moment, since the author wants to give them a thorough editing. Very laudable!
Fang Chronicles: Amy's Story: A Vampire and Shifter Romantic
The live story of Amy and Marcus. Amy is a reporter and she is hot on the trail of a teenage prostitute series killer but she is rescue by Marcus, a vampire, when the killer try to rape and kill her. Now she know the shifter world exist. Will she become part of that world and keep it's secret or will Marcus have kill her to keep their secret? Great story.
Amy is undercover as a young addict trading her body for drugs. She's rescued by a stranger and the truth is discovered. She recognizes her attacker in a newspaper photo and demands a meeting. Fortunately for her, she has an unknown ally.
I enjoyed the book. It had some unique takes on vampires and shifters. The romance was satisfying and The action was exciting.
I'm personally not huge on the vampire thing (I'm team wolf all the way) but despite my personal tastes, I did enjoy this book and would recommend it to others.
3 stars for me is good. I liked it.
Thought it was well written. Characters were well developed, not stupid people you want to bitchslap into next week. Not too much repetition. Easy to read. Story flowed well. Good plot. Little to no errors making the reading more pleasurable.
An engaging tale that sucks you in till it's done. A journalist undercover for a story gets saved from a rapist by a vampire and his werewolf clan. Only the female alpha knows that she will be the most important person in the lives of the clan.
I first read this book about 3 years ago on my tablet but I soon crashed and I lost all my books. I looked for this book for what feels like ages until I finally suddenly, at midnight, remembered the name of the book! I'm so glad to have found it again and hope I can enjoy it as much as I once did.
This is a well written story. The characters were fantastic. The storyline was very good. The werewolves were different than they are in most books. I highly recommend this book.
For sure this was different from other vampire and shapeshifter stories. I’m glad no one sparkled (I own all Twilight books and movies). I might have to stick a vampire in my next Bonded book! Really enjoyed this book.
Granted I am not a big fan of vampire books but since I had read a few lately that were above the norm I thought I would give it a go. Well it fell kinda flat. There wasn't much plot characters were under done. I wanted to like it because the premise was nice, wolves catering to a vampire king with respect and love in a family way. The king finding the love of his life who wants to be with him for eternity, but I was left wanting more from this author so I could really enjoy the story.
What an enjoyable read! The ending just about killed me and the plot was very easy to follow. Just enough background information is given to keep you hanging.
