Timmy and Eight, a plush toy octopus, have been friends for as long as Timmy can remember. Eight and Timmy go everywhere together, including on a picnic to the National Park with Mum and Dad. When they come back home, Timmy realises with horror that they have left Eight behind. Dad comforts Timmy by reminding him how strong and brave Eight is. Timmy is lonely and sad, but begins to imagine all the adventures that Eight is having.
The toy octopus Timmy has had for as long as he can remember, Eight, is accidentally left behind on a day at the National Park. Timmy wants to go back right away and find him, but Dad reassures him that Eight is clever and will be OK. When they go back, no Eight is found. How will Timmy get on without him? A smart and caring Dad, and a boy who grows from his experience. Great illustrations.
A beautiful book that captures the heartbreak of a lost toy and the inevitable growth that comes from that. The illustrations are just beautiful and even feature wordless pages that say so much. The prose is tight and perfect, and it has a soothing rhythm to it when read aloud.
A familiar tale of a favourite childhood toy going missing and having wild adventures before returning home to its owner. I liked that the toy was an octopus, something a little different.
