An excellent collection of over 200 color illustrations. This collection focuses on Moebius' book and magazine covers and illustrations; with some posters and excerpts from Moebius' personal sketchbooks. Some explicit content.
Jean Henri Gaston Giraud (pen-name: Mœbius) was a French artist, cartoonist, and writer, who worked in the Franco-Belgian bandes dessinées tradition. Also published as Jean Giraud.
Beautiful collection of illustrations by the master, along with some one-page stories and strips. The printing is a bit off and the colors are too saturated, typical of epic's imprint poor quality. You can find most of the illustrations in one of the volumes of "The collected fantasies of Jean Giraud", again by Epic, in B/W.
published in 1992 by marvel's "alt" imprint, epic, this is a really nice hardcover collection of some moebius ephemera mostly from the 70s. epic published a whole slew of his work in the 90s, and someone really needs pick up the gauntlet and start re-issuing it again.
$18.95 cover price, i picked this up used at a barnes & noble. $10, plus 50% sale. $5! amazing.
This awesome compilation of Moebius' art was refused entry by Canadian customs in 1992; the customs form cited inappropriate drawings (there are a few fairly out there illustrations), but this is a wholly insufficient reason for an import ban in Canada, both now and in 1992. So, a little interesting piece of history with this one -- it seems likely a single individual's sensibilities were shook towards a misapplied ban, and I'm curious which of the illustrations was the final straw, but anyway this book has finally found an appreciate Canadian home avec moi.
Coffee table artbook reprinting single page images and small panel works in color that are otherwise found as black and white marginalia in the "Collected Fantasies of Moebius."
