The book was just ok. This was the first book I read by the author, not much a fan of the writing style. I feel like the book did a lot of telling and not showing. The storyline was good, and I’m glad everything worked out in the end.
“Double Proposal” by Barbara Joe Williams is the prefect fairytale with a taste of drama which captivates the reader.
Monique had the prefect life with Jamal, at least she thought. Shortly after the birth of their child, Chloe, she discovered something about their relationship that would change her life forever. In the midst of the change, Monique meets Prince Conyers who possesses all the characteristics of a good man and they share similar beliefs. Their relationship becomes stronger and Monique is given the opportunity to close a chapter with Jamal. Time heals all wounds, but Monique finds herself stuck between love and hate. Will Monique make the best decision for her sake or for the sake of her family?
Williams deals with the complex decisions we have to make in life for the sake of love. True to life, not all decisions will guarantee happiness. Williams demonstrates excellent writing skills. I love the way the story gives hope to finding real love. I look forward to more novels from Barbara Joe Williams moving forward. Good work!
Oh wow. This story was touching, heart breaking and then a wonderful surprise. I almost new that Jamal was going to worm his way back in. I was screaming noooooo. I was so shocked at the fast turn of events in the court house. Way to go Prince. I was clapping. At the end, I felt Jamal was going to blow the wedding out of the water with some horrible news, so glad that did not happen. So loved this story. I couldn't put it down. Makes me want to try this in love thing out. Where is my Prince? Way to go Barbara Jo. Absolutely loved it.
This was the first book I have read by Barbara Joe Williams. I enjoyed the smooth flow of her writing style. Which made this an easy read. I would definite recommend this book, and look forward to reading more from this author.
If you want a book that will make you laugh, cry, and maybe even reevaluate your life, then this is the book for you. Its full of twists and turns, and the end will shock you.
This is definitely a page Turner. The characters are very believable. Prince is a great guy and Jamal is a jerk. I loved the way the story ended. It flowed very well from one point to another and all the characters fit perfectly into their roles. I would recommend this as a great read.
The story had me going with Jamal's behavior and then having the never to come back and just start again. I'm still not sure how I feel about Prince and Monique. Overall this was a good story.
What God Has For You, No One Can Take It Away. Her doubt and her attempted to stop God's plan. As we know he has final say. Love reading their journey. It was short, and troublesome but great ending.
This story taught us, once burned it hard to put your trust in another person. How do you deal with the fear, who do you believe, is what you see or hear real? A very heartwarming story.
The story was a little long winded on certain details that seemed unnecessary to me at times but overall it was a good story and very much worth reading. It's funny how you don't miss a good thing until it's gone 😁 and that's exactly what Jamal found out
My first time reading her book. Religious, but tastefully done. Even in a religious plot, but was very calm and sincere, for readers of a more sexual content.
Barbara writes a story well crafted and drama-filled. The main character Monique, is strong in the ways a woman should be: she knows her own mind, her own, goals, and how to stand up for herself if need be. Monique struggles with knowing who to trust, her spiritual walk more of a side note than front and center may be some of that reason. A quick read with lots of sizzle, Double Proposal had me cringing at Monique's choice between two men who though professing love, left something to be desired when it came to character. This story had it all: drama, humor, and love with a few elements to make you blush. Monique got her happy ending, but I can't help wondering if she would have been happier as a single parent leading a fulfilling life. Definitely something for a book club discussion. This is my first time reading this author's work and overall, I liked it all right. I can say it wasn't quite what I expected and the title is a tad misleading to me. While I liked the story overall, it didn't really flow for me. And the editing kind of took away from it for me, as well. Monique was a strong woman and I always admire that, and I loved that she was full-figured, but for whatever reason I couldn't really get into her character. My favorite was Prince, and I loved the part where he proved himself to her.
Eventually I was just reading to finish...it just didn't all click for me.
Monique is a full figured single mother who didn't think she would be a single mother. Her boyfriend and her daughter's father decided he didn't want to be a father anymore. After that she decided that she needed a change and she ended up meeting Prince. Monique and Prince have a lot in common and they soon hit it off. Monique and Prince will soon face a lot of stuff from their past and they have to decide if their love is strong enough to endure. This was the first book that I read by this author but definitely not my last.
Another awesome book by Barbara Joe Williams! Monique is a full-figured woman that had high self-esteem. Monique and her boyfriend had a good relationship until she found out that she might not be able to have children. Monique wanted a child and became pregnant. Jamal was not very active throughout the pregnancy. Monique had a baby girl and names her Chloe. After a few months Jamal decides to leave Monique and Chloe. Monique packs up and move back home to be near family. Monique chose to be celibate after Jamal left. This book will keep you on your toes…..
This is a good novel about the spiritual journey of a woman left to raise her infant daughter alone. Taking her strength from God, Monique moves back home to raise her little girl Chloe within the loving arms of her family. Meeting a man of mutual convictions, she falls in love. But not without problems and misunderstandings, do they finally profess their love and marry. I recommend this novel to readers who like contemporary Christian romances, you will not be disappointed.

I was supposed to save this book for a beach read but I stumbled on to it a little earlier and just had to finish. Good read, really liked the twists I didn't see coming. Romance has been done so many ways, it's refreshing to see new twists can still be found. I always enjoy Barbara's books, she's a great storyteller!
This is a new author for me. I couldn't put this book down. I could certainly relate to the story line. I felt like I knew the characters and I love a Happy ending after the main character endure many hurts and disappointments. Download this book.
Loved Monique and Prince. This story was very entertaining. I was glad to read about a full figure woman getting the man and having a HEA. Prince was a very honest and a loving man. Everyone should read this story. Thanks to the author
Double Proposal – Barbara Joe Williams This story is about a woman and a man in a relationship until she gets pregnant. He drops a bomb and she pack up and moves away. She meets her Prince. But she is not ready for the turn of events. She finds herself between a rock and a hard place. Will she find the hard place or where she really belongs? Monique Kennedy is a full figured, confident, strong single mom. She goes on a journey through some highs and lows of a relationship. Jamal was a wimp who couldn’t hold his own. He was very disappointing but that was just the reality. Prince Conyers, a good man with a heart of gold and God. Chole was Monique’s and Jamal’s child who was sweet, adorable, well mannered, and respectful. She was loved and admired by all. I loved how Monique and Prince bonded together. They meshed and jellied together with Chloe like a family unit. I love the way the author let the growth of Monique show throughout the story. Prince’s commitment and pure love for both Chloe and Monique was realistic and could be seen.
I love the writing style that the author was using. She was consistent in the story, setting, and characters throughout the book. I could relate to Monique very well because I am her in a lot of ways. The storyline was on point, went smoothly, and transitioned well. It had twist and turns I didn’t see coming and surprised me. The character development, dialogue, and personalities of the characters made you believe that you knew these characters were someone you knew in real life. I am glad that the author made a character like Monique and Prince who was transparent and compassionate. The themes in the story were abandonment, insecurities, hurts, being celibate, Christian values, trust, love, and communication. This story had me on an emotional roller coaster. One minute I was happy, then next mad, sad, and then angry, and sometimes I wanted to scream. It kept me on my toes. I love stories like that. I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read more by this author. Barbara is a great storyteller. I recommend you read this five-star story to all readers. You will not be disappointed.
