A brutal betrayal. Fatally wounded by his father, Dante Sinclair has only hours left to destroy his family's tainted legacy before he succumbs to the poison coursing through him. Rigidly focused on his goal, he has no time for anything else, until he meets a sensual, tormented woman that calls to his soul in ways that strip him raw and derails him from his mission.
A desperate sacrifice. Elisha, the princess of darkness, is willing to give up her life to save the world she loves, until Dante Sinclair robs her of her one tool she has to defeat the evil that courses through her veins.
Devastating passion. The darkness is closing in on them both, and the two tormented souls are torn from their chosen paths and thrust into a passionate whirlwind of sacrifice, betrayal, and devastating choices.
*Author's note: Originally intended to be a novella, INFERNO OF DARKNESS ended up being too long and complex to be a novella. It is a complete novel that is slightly shorter than the other novels in the Order the Blade series.

This is a Pre-quell I have been waiting for since the beginning of this splendid series by Stephanie Rowe.
This is the story of Dante Sinclair, the Leader of the Calydon ‘s Order of the Blade, a group of ancient immortal Warriors whose sole purpose is to protect the innocent. Warriors from this elite group, come with a dark side. Each Calydon is destined to meet his soul mate, to be drawn to her… unable to resist bonding with her.
...but their destiny is to destroy each other and all they care about the moment their bond is complete.
So far in Stephanie Rowe’s Series, Oder of the Blade, we have had a chance to meet 6 of these magnificent, deeply emotional damaged warriors, extremely loyal to Dante, and all were hand-picked by Dante himself. Each having met their Sheva/soul mate and each couple having managed to break the curse, But the big question has remain throughout all six books, who was Dante Sinclair? Who was the leader of this exclusive group of men, where did he come from and how did he become their leader? How did Dante know these men, men that the rest of the world saw as broken and weak would be strong enough to overcome an ancient curse? Finally, the biggest question of them all, who was Dante’s Sheva?
I’m very happy to say, that in “Inferno of Darkness,” many of these questions are answered and at the same time, the master of storytelling, Ms. Rowe, creates a few more questions. Stephanie has weaved together a marvelous tale of mystery, intrigue, hold the books so tight your fingers hurt can’t stop reading till I know what happens story, leaving me wanting even more!!!
While Dante does get his “Happy For Now” ending, readers need to remember that as far as timelines go, Inferno of Darkness takes us back to the beginning, therefore, Dante’s story isn’t yet finished, It will be one voyage I won’t want to miss.
So in short, if you have been following all the adventures of Calydon warriors, when you’ll love the missing pieces that Inferno of Darkness gives you.
And if you are new to The Order of the Blade Series, what a perfect book to start your journey.
Each Book from this series can be read as a standalone.
I really enjoy this series. I have to admit, though, that this wasn't my favourite. It was a good story and it was well written.
For me, the book had a strange feeling to it. By now, we all know how these books go... they have problems, they overcome them and defeat (or at least postpone) the sheva bond. However, we've already met Dante and he does not have a sheva in the other books. Which meant that the whole time I was reading, I already knew that things were not going to work out. They do resolve their issues in this book, but something must happen between the end of this book and the start of book 1. Perhaps this will be explained in further books (I really hope we haven't seen the last of Dante). Still, that knowledge did make it hard to get behind Dante in this story.
Having said that, it was still a good book, but it felt more like we were being given extra information, rather than it being an Order book in its own right. A bit like Ian's novella (but longer) before Ian's actual book. I did find myself trying to read through this quickly to get back to the main books.
I enjoyed reading about Dante. We knew so much about him but through the eyes of the other Calydon warriors. It was nice to get to know him first hand. I like him. He is hard to kill and beats the odds every time no matter who he comes against. The action scenes were great and I also liked Elisha. But the story didn't end, it just stopped. When Dante is introduced to us maybe from the first book, he is alone without Elisha so what happened? And if she died, wouldn't he go rogue? Maybe he didn't because he had to stay live for their son? I hope these questions will be answered in one of the upcoming books. Actually I hope we haven't heard to the last of Dante. I would like for him to meet his son and be reunited with the Calydon warriors.
I'm sorry. I really am. I loved all the other books in this series, but this one just missed the mark for me. I liked that it gave some much needed back story to Dante and how his reign in the Order began; however, that's all I liked. The book merely spanned hours from start to finish, yet I'm expected to believe that Dante and Elisha fell in love so quickly? That, to me, is more unbelievable than demons and angels. The whole relationship felt quick and forced. Needless to say, I was disappointed in this book. Dante deserved better.
I was left really confused with Dante's story. Although it was a good read I don't get how he meets his love centuries ago and yet he killed his fellow order guys shevas before they bond. And where is Elisha now. So many questions.... hopefully they get answered in the upcoming books.
Disappointed with this book. Normally I don't want to put these books down but I actually struggled to get through this. I appreciate that the story needed to be told to continue the series but not my favourite by far.
Well this answered some questions, but left so many unanswered. Will we find out what happened to her? Did the Sheva bond do them in? Well obviously not him, but she wasn't mentioned before.
Finished this book yesterday, had to take some time to collect my thoughts. This book is a very well written book. It just left me a bit confused. I’m reading this series in order. Dante dies in the first book, Darkness Awakened. In book 7 Darkness Unleashed we learn is spirit is in the nether realm. So I go into this book thinking it’s the conclusion to that situation. That is not what happens.
This story takes place earlier in Dante’s life. Where he begins to make the Order of the Blade what it is. Not how his father had been running it. We learn how Dante came about, what happens in his early life. Then his time with Elisha. We learn about who she is, where she comes from.
These two work together to accomplish a task that no one else has been able to.
We learn a little about Zach, and meet Rohan who gets a book later in the series.
Like I said it’s a very good book, but I want to know what has happened with Dante and Elisha and what happens next for Dante’s spirit from the last book. Does he get another one later on"
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Oof, this was a hard one. We know where Dante ends up, but this novella gives us a glimpse of his earlier life/career.
We join Dante as he is finishing up his quest to wipe out the evil and corrupt members of the Order. He's been struck with poison and being called to something out there. Upon arriving, he meets Elisha, who is enduring her own struggles. They are both a bit out of sorts upon meeting, but find common ground in an unflinching devotion to duty, sacrifice, and determination not to get drawn into love. Dante has even gone as far as applying symbols that are supposed to block his mating call. They really put that to the test, though.
If you were wondering how Dante met some other familiar faces, we get a glimpse into that also. As a bit of back story, it answers some questions, but left me with so many more! The ending might be happy, but we know where Dante ultimately ends up, which (for now) is at least not with Elisha. So many questions!
Each book ramps up, adding more to this awesome alternate reality! Offering hints of the past that have impact in the future. Drama, passion, suspense, this series has it all, and keeps you wanting more!
Definitely not my favorite but it has a place as a prequel. It felt a little desperate and was pretty light on plot (not that plot is the main reason to read any of the books).
I have never read a series as fast as I've consumed Order of the Blade. Because I read them on my Kindle, I'm not sure how many pages they actually have, but I have finished the last two in a matter 3 days and finished the all of the previous books in under 10 days from discovering them! While the books can probably stand by themselves, I wouldn't recommend reading just one. Each one is a different piece of the puzzle and the picture hasn't quite come together yet.
That said, I'm not sure what to make of this one. It gives the background story to the formation of the Order as we know it. It tells us the beginning of Dante's story but it left me with more questions than I like when I'm reading a quick read series. So, my feelings on this one are mixed.
**SPOILER ALERT** While Dante is the major player in this book, we learn that Vaughn and Zach are part of his history. And another "founding" Order member, Rohan, seems to have a part that has yet to be played out. We learn that the spirit of Dante's son will "destroy the world." (The son we've already met). What I didn't get was in this book Dante meets his sheva (and they have a son), yet 100s of years later, all of the members of his team are out there killing rogues, especially those that meet their sheva. If Dante could beat his "destiny" how is it the team never knew about it and why are they all so set on avoiding that particular fate? It goes against the entire premise of the series. I expect the upcoming books will answer these questions... at least I hope so!
I see how this was necessary to move the story along and give us more background on Dante, Zach, Rohan, Vaugn, and the Queen of Darkness but I ended up rushing to get through it and just could not engage with Dante and Elisha's story. I was so frustrated by the fact that the rest of the order in current times knew little to nothing about the events that transpired (has Zach shared any of this info??).
To big things irked me. (1) If runes could be created to fight the Sheva bond THEN WHY THE HECK HAVENT THEY BEEN USING OR EXPLORING THIS OPTION? They just decided to kill Calydon's before they go rogue and kill Order member's shevas but there is no mention of combating it with runes?? (2) Didn't Zach and Rohan meet outside the netherworld and then Zach ended up going with Rohan and his team to health Thanos in book 7? In book 7 Zach showed no sign of recognizing Rohan but then in Book 8 we find out they meet and became the first two order members together?!?!?
I came away from this book with more questions than answers. Namely- where the heck is Elisa now? Does Drew know anything about this? Is Dante going to come back alive in later books? Is Dante getting his own book later (similar to what happened with Ian- novella and a novel)?
Dante's father is ruthless in his evil. he runs the Order with fear. For Dante, enough is enough, especially after his father rapes and kills his mother in front of the whole Order, Dante included. Dante vows that the Order will be no more, and kills his father and, one by one, the rest of the Order, til only one remains. It takes all his remaining strength to kill that last one, but he has words for Dante, the Order WILL continue, under Dante's rule. And Dante isn't too happy to hear that!
Battered, bleeding and quite possibly dying, Dante hears something calling and sets off to investigate. Elisha, daughter of darkness, guards the sword that calls him. Its power is immense, and Dante must fight the power of the sword, of the darkness and his attraction to Elisha, if he is to save them both, and this world.
Full of those great deep descriptions, Rowe wows us once more with her tale telling. I so love these books, and eagerly await the next.
only a short story,(hence the 4 stars not 5) this one but it lays down how the Order came to be in Dante's hands, so should really be a prequel :-)
We finally get to see inside Dante's story the leader of the Calydons and how it all started! I love this whole series by Stephanie and once again it does NOT disappoint! If your a fan of paranormal romance then this series is for you!!!!!! Start from the beginning and once you get through book one you will be hooked.
Dante Sinclair the leader of our Calydon Warriors and protectors of the human realm. Inferno of Darkness takes us back to the beginning, but Dante's story still isn't finished. We will be left wanting to know what happens with his soul. The questions that I've always wanted to know about Dante are answered in this book! I am very happy and even though I know there is more to Dante to come well we just have to wait and see. I love you Stephanie you did another amazing job in this series and I can't wait for the next installment coming out I won't tell who it is but I can't wait for his. And I so hope you write Thano and Vaughn later on though Thano is my favorite because of what he's become now I want him to have a HEA in some way. You rock Steph!!!!! And thank you to you and Janet for sending me this book!!!!!!! Comment Comment | Permalink
What an amazing Book!! I would love to give it 6 stars if I could.. Dante is the leader of the Order of the Blade as we all know.but what we didn't know was how he came to be the leader. In This book we learn what Dante had to over come in his life before becoming the reluctant leader of a band of Ragged,Intense & emotionally damaged warriors.. What he suffered at the hands of his father would have destroyed any other man but that's what made him the Leader he is today.. His Love for Elisha was beyond measure.. Their love was so intense and so immediately that it will last many lifetimes..This book shows that Dante was Born to be the leader. Stephanie loves to answer some questions, at the same time leaves you asking more! If you have read the Other books in this series you will Not be disappointed in this one, If this is the first book you pick up in the series then you will be right on track This could be a read alone book to get you ready for the others.. Either way This was an amazing book and a MUST READ OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!
I think this story about Dante went a bit over the top for my taste. Paranormal romance is out there sometimes and can be really mind bending especially when it comes to immortal warriors.
In every paranormal romance I have read, the main plot line is boy meets girl and lives happily ever after when the evil is defeated. It is what the Author adds to the story that makes good reading. Ms. Rowe delivers great subplot and twists to each of her novels. This was no exception, except, the evil was too much and it was hard to imagine how everything resolved.
Still, this is Dante's story and it explains how the Order of the Blade was formed. It gave me information that explains so much about how the heroes in each book became Blade members. It will be interesting to see where everything goes from here.
And...what about Thanos? I do recommend this book as it completes part of the history of Order of the Blade series. Gotta read, see you after the next book.
so I finished this book last night n first off let me say its a prequel that I didnt even realize how bad I wanted to know dantes story probably because dante has been dead since the story began in book one but now knowing his story it both made alot make sence n left me with a whole lot of questions the biggest one being what the hell happens it ends in the middle of the story dante has a sheva so why does he make the rule to kill all shevas before the bonds could grow where is elisha now what happens to her? I liked hearing how zach and rohan came along n when I discovered the thin frail boy that took down the dome was vaughn I was floored I cant wait to find out more about vaughn I hope we get to find out more about his back story im going into book 9 with alot of questions about dante drew vaughn n elisha also in why dante chose to kill the shevas I hope this story gets continued! but all in all it was a great read just confusing actually confusing isnt the right word it just left me with questions n wanting more of this story! on to the next one!
Seriously loved this series.... Could not stop until I read the most recent one. The whole Calydon mythology was really neat. While the Sheeva Bond thing gets a little worn out, it was still a bit of a twist on your typical soulmate idea. Books further in the series don't rely so heavily on the Sheeva Bond/curse/whatever, so I was thankful for that. The plot lines to all the books are great. The characters are solid. Writing is great. I was not disappointed, in the slightest.
So, it was nice to see where Dante and Zach came from. I liked how this one shed some light on some backstory. While I liked it, it was, by far, my least favorite in the series. Maybe it was because it was Dante? I was used to him being this larger than life personality, that died before the series began, and then reading his story, kind of made Hume more human. He was the man, the myth, the legend; and then he kind of didn't live up to all my expectations. You still have to read this one, bc come on.
This book is the beginning and ends with clear understanding of how The Order changed and Dante came to be the reluctant leader of these sensual, but damaged warriors. I was thrilled Rowe showed how Dante, Vaughn and several other characters, you met in this series, came together and how they worked in the past for the greater good.
This is a 190 page novel; a little too long for a novella. It's power-packed and a MUST READ for fans of The Order.
Okay, will there be a 9th book in this series? I guess we will eagerly wait and see. I simply have to learn more of Vaughn!
I really enjoyed this book! It's nice to finally know the story of Dante. This is a short novella that brings you into the past and explains how Dante became the leader of the Order of the Blade. Readers will also learn what type of man Dante was… where he came from, why he made the decisions he did and how the order of the blade became what it was. His story was not what I expected but I was not let down at all. This was a great prequel to the book; it will leave you wanting more! If you read the other books before this one, you will be relieved to find out so much about Dante :-)
LOVED LOVED LOVED Dantes story! The only thing I did not like is how we were left hanging not knowing what happens with the sheva bond? Obviously we know they did not last together since in the other books his sheva was never mentioned. But why?? He was obviously stronger than any other warriors of the Order, so what happened between Dante and Elisha!!!?? If the rest of the Order survived the bond, did Dante?? Ughh a bit frustrated there! But any how, still one of my favorites! :D A MUST READ SERIES!
The story is about one man's quest to right a wrong. It's about a woman who will destroy the earth. Can two people come together and conquer their love and save humanity? It's about evil vs good. Danti came full circle his story told like none other.
It was a well written story and I'm glad i finally read it in it's entirety. Would I recommend this book absolutely, will I yes. I have read all of the books she has written so I will keep on that is for sure.
I did not find any errors what so ever. The characters were believable and true
Dante's novella is A-MAZING!!! Not much is known about Dante because he's only around for a little bit in the first book of the series before he's killed. We find out about his origins and also the origins of several other people throughout the series. No spoilers coming from me! This is a must read, it will help you connect some of the dots about Dante and leave you drooling for more! 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!!
I thought this book was great but it was really short that was the only thing that I didn't like that much about the book. I'm hoping that the next book will be more. But to the book it was pretty great. The charecters were awesome they had such a love connection that I just loved a lot. I think everyone should have that type of love sometime in their life.
I can't wait tell the next book to see how everything works out!
was really good but i was disappointed that Dante was not exploited more after his soul is found in the last book I did like the fact that Zach now has a begginning so we re able to find out where he began and Vaugn has a beginning in the story as a young man and it shows how he met the Order of the blad but where is Rohan? where is Dante really and what happened to Elisha ?
Waiting on on the next book to see where this all goes can't Wait HURRY WOMAN HURRY!!
