First thing...Summer pick a guy! LOL. I love this series so much. Still on book 4 I am a Drew fan. I have been since the first book and I think I always will be. Drew was always in love with her while Nate had other plans going on.
After Kailin Gow left us on a massive cliff hanger by having Nate disappear Gow picks up right where she left off. Summer is devastated over the news of Nate and Drew is there to keep her company. Not that I minded. During her time with Drew, Summer finds out some horrific secrets that could threaten her relationship with the Donovan brothers.
To see this series is amazing is an understatement. The boys are sexy. Gow know just the words to say to make the readers captivated in the story as well as the series.
Here are some of my favorite quotes: (notice how they are all from Drew?) The look of desire with vvulnerability, nearly made me lose all conrol.
If you go, you're taking me down with you.
As much as I loved the sex, I knew if I continued on, and if she didn't feel the same about me, I would be the one sitting in a tub with the razor blade nearby.
My ears perked up like I was some kind of dog in heat. Man, Summer had me whipped. But boy, did I want it.
This is an okay read, for the most part the characters are interesting and the storyline is developing and getting better with each book. The reason I cannot get too invested in the book is the main character Summer. I just do not know where to begin, she's not likeable, yet not unlikeable, she's just a bit 'bleh' for my tastes. I'm finding it hard to believe the whole love triangle with Drew and Nat and the way she bounces between them I just cannot buy into their three way relationship. She really does not have any personality that would lead me to believe that these two gorgeous, intelligent brothers would find her so irresistible, yes she is meant to be beautiful but I see no strength of character that would invoke these passionate feelings in not one but two men. For me the Donovan family make this series, I would much rather the books were based around them with Summer as a minor character rather than the lead one.
I loved it from page one to the end, I can't wait for the next book, but I'm even more confused than before, I have been team Drew from book one, but what Nat has done for her is amazing, I can't make up my mind if I want them to be family or not, part of me does because it will make it easier for Summer to move on. but my heart still goes to Drew, he is always trying to protect Summer even if she doesn't see it at the time, I even cried along with Summer, brill :)
holy starfish batman! that took me around 3 hours to read and talk about whirlwind! no matter what ill still be TEAM DREW! after all that happened in this book summer needs to stop denying how good drew is for her and how much she loves him! I NEED LASTING SUMMER NOW! she needs to pick already!
I Love Drew. I am so ready to find out who she finally picks. This book really surprised me with the twist and turns it had. I so looking forward to the next book. Hope it is released soon!!
A Classic Summer Read! This series was my ADDICTION when it first came out. Now I am re-reading and binging on the entire series and its many spin-offs.
I am totally falling back in love with this series and all its beloved characters. One of my all time favorites!
I have been following this series from the beginning, and it just gets more intense as each book is released. I think this book is the one that had me more frustrated with the characters than any other.
It is no secret that I am a Nat Nut. I love Nat. In all the craziness that goes on in the books, he seems to be the anchor. He is the one who makes all the sacrifices for his family. Any character who talks about Nat only has great things to say about him. His team at Donovan Dynamics says he’s resourceful, bright, and capable of unbelievable things. His sister Rachel says he was always there for her and always did the right thing even if it meant he had to sacrifice his own happiness for everyone else. The way this book turns out, Nat is still putting everyone else above himself. He can’t go back to being Nat. It’s not safe for him or his loved ones. He’s pissed off the wrong people. He now has to be Nat 2.0, someone who is not Nat. I’m not sure I’m okay with this. The person he has to become goes against all that I love about Nat. I’m going to be mourning the loss of “Nat”, and I’m not sure I’m going to like the “Not Nat” who will be a student attending USC on a scholarship. A film major, a player who goes through girls like candy. Seriously, I want to draw the line at dying his hair blonde and putting blue contacts in his eyes. Not my Nat. Why don’t you just rip out my heart now, Kailin Gow, and be done with it?
Oh, and don’t even get me started on Drew and Summer. Are you kidding me? Summer is so back and forth with her emotions in this book. It was a ride I paid admission for but wanted off at the first turn. I know Drew always loved Summer. What a dog to swoop in and take his claim while Nat was “missing”. Summer has no loyalty. I was disgusted. All she had was this back and forth inner monologue of wanting closure so she could move on with Drew. However, she didn’t need that closure to jump into lust with Drew. It was getting old fast. One minute she was in pure lust with Drew. The next minute she was berating herself for having feelings for Drew and Nat was missing. Then I’d get whiplash from the comparisons she would make between Drew and Nat. In my mind there is no contest. I solidly choose Nat. As if that frustration isn’t enough, Kailin throws in a big twist. Something that, if true, is going to make it impossible for Summer and Nat to ever be together. At this point I’m not even sure I want Summer and Nat to be together. I think Nat needs to board the bus out of Summer’s crazy town and find a new love.
I want to see if there is something to Rachel’s crush on Astor. I really would like to see something develop there. Astor is a great character, and so is Rachel. It might just make it easier for me to adjust to “Not Nat”, if I could focus on a budding romance between two awesome characters like Rachel and Astor.
I do love this series. I wouldn’t have such strong feelings about the characters or story line if I didn’t. Kailin knows how to get into the heart of her readers. She writes the story that isn’t going to be easy, but I appreciate that. I want to be involved in the story and I am. I have staked my claim. I am awaiting the next book, but not patiently. With so much changing with Nat, I can’t wait to see what comes of it.
I only have one pet peeve about this book. Drew is not afraid to use the “F” word, so I don’t understand why he would use the word “gosh” so much. It seems out of character for him. It brings his bad boy persona into question. I can’t picture him saying “gosh”. It brings the hot factor way down.
At this point, you are either invested in this story or have checked out. I recommend reading this series from the beginning and seeing it through. It can get a bit frustrating at times, but that doesn’t make it a bad story. It just means that there is something there drawing out your emotions. I for one like that I can focus in on the characters and have strong reactions to what’s going on. It makes the reading experience that much better. Take a chance. Choose a side. Find out where your loyalties lie. I have.
what?! I loved this series the first books were amazing and ....spoiler of the last book..... when Nat went missing I had to have this book and read it .....I was always team drew so I was SO excited and although that may sound bad I had a feeling nothing bad would actually happen to Nat...with that being said I liked it there were just some quirks that I was not very fond of ...all of which are spoilers so if you haven't read this book stop reading here... ... .. .. OK so like I said I love drew.....I could not stand however how summer kept leading drew on only to say how much she loved Nat and needed closure...I was really hoping that Nat would come home but instead of choosing Nat she went for drew ....but nooo she's forced to give Nat up because he's her cousin?? yeah...then OK I can live with that until she gets a letter from Nat after her and drew are so happy saying he's alive and drew knew when everyone including her thought he was dead ....she was happy now she hates drew...nice fucking going Nat u soo did that on purpose ...ugh...needless to say another cliffhanger and I am still waiting for the ever waited for drew and summer finale (cross our fingers!!)
I have liked this series from the first book I read. I really like the love triangle between Summer, Drew and Nat. Of course, I am hoping Nat will be the one to stay with Summer in the end. This book was not one of my favorites. I thought some of the scenes were too rushed. I would have liked to have read more on how Nat was feeling being away on the mission. The scenes with Summer and Drew seemed rushed and Summer fell for Drew really fast. I hope the next book comes out soon.
The story line was amazing as always. However, I had a hard time really staying in the story. It needs a little bit of editing work. Otherwise, I really love this series and can not wait for the next book! And for the record, I really do feel bad for Nat and wish him a lifetime of happiness, but he should have staked claim when he had a chance. I'm TEAM DREW! He has loved Summer always. He deserves to be happy too.
The story of Summer, Drew and Cal is getting more intense in this book. Cal has had to go away leaving Summer with Drew from the rest of the year. When Cal goes missing in Afghanistan Summer is devastated and it leads her into Drews arms but with big secrets blowing up and Summer having no one to turn to is Drew in for having his heartbroken even more by the girls that both brothers love. Great Book in a must read series.
Wow this book has so many twists and turns and everything happening in it, kind of crazy good. I didn't see much of that coming but I couldn't stop reading. Now I know there is more to come but I don't see a date yet, but I can't wait to continue this story with Summer, Nat and Drew wow.
Each book in this series gets more intense. In this one, there are so many twists and turns, and surprises that you do not expect at all. This is a must read series. Kailin Gow has done some outstanding writing in this series. I can not say much about this book without giving something away, so all I can say is start reading. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
