Freed from the constraints of the Aliomenti, Will Stark creates a new group, an Alliance of men and women committed to using the Energy skills they've developed and technological advances they've made to improve the lives of all.
It's an act of rebellion that won't go unnoticed--or unpunished--by the Aliomenti Elites.
Treachery, a desperate search for the resolution of his most vexing personal concern, and an incredible network of underground facilities drive Will to his own desperate decisions. He'll figure out how to bring new life into the world... but the asking price is steep.
I am a lifelong Ohio resident, where I live with my wife and three children. When I'm not trying to be in three places at once with my active youngsters, I'm following local professional and collegiate sports teams, or possibly unscrambling a Rubik's Cube. In lieu of sleep, I read and write fiction.
My debut novel, A QUESTION OF WILL, explores themes of technological advancement, human potential (good and bad), and the love bonding a family together. It reached the Amazon Top 100 in Science Fiction -> High Tech less than a week after publication. The sequels--PRESERVING HOPE, ASCENT OF THE ALIOMENTI, and BIRTH OF THE ALLIANCE--continue to follow Will's adventures, bringing to life the technological and Energy advances he's achieved in entirely new settings.
I am currently drafting the fifth of seven novels in the series.
I'm bailing out here. I'm so frustrated and torn by this series. On one hand, I love the world that the author has built. It's interesting and intriguing -- makes you think. On the other hand, the protagonists are SO INCREDIBLY ANNOYING. Their motives are always pure. Their motives are always good. They do whatever is right, cost to themselves be damned.
Barf. It's just nauseating and, worse, completely unbelievable. I ended up skimming through the last third of the book to get through the constant reminders about what good people Will and Hope are. And I just can't imagine stomaching another 3 books of this.
To top it all off, the author's plot instruments are oftentimes clumsy and requires the reader to overlook SIGNIFICANT gaps in the plot or to suspend disbelief almost past the point of reason.
A brilliant read!! This book took off for me right from the start, so glad to have Hope back in the picture as the shadow and to re-connect with Eva and Adam later on in the book! It is the strength of Will which makes this book so special, the ideas he comes up with especially to make the cavern habitable for the alliance are awesome! The motto which the alliance adopt are one i personally try to live by - be the change you want to see!! However Will's time is now running out as his own birth time is fast approaching, he has lived through many important historical moments through his thousand year throw back and met many historical figures but Will just won't leave quietly, even his death has to be meaningful and of benefit to the alliance and society in general! That is the beauty of Will Stark! Dying to read the fifth book in the series - Preserving Will. Thank you Alex for this great series.
Another zip through 500 years of history - this time from the Alliance point of view following Will's progress in establishing and growing the Alliance. We end with Will being born (1995) and we have some explanations of things that are plot points earlier in the series.
I have to confess that I'm not entirely sure about the series - occasionally I'm irritated by the lack of research (and I'm assuming that is what it is - Waterloo in northern Spain? Watt in 'southeast England'?) but rarely is something totally wrong (the vacuum existing above open water in a cavern is one of those wrongs) and I'll probably continue through the series as I seem to have bought most of thm already!
Kept me wanting to know more. But quit the repetition.
I love this series. The setting against real history brings the whole thing alive and plays into the many conspiracy theories of who really runs the planet. Only downside is the repeated summing up of the story so far. This way of writing gives the reader no credit and gets boring fast. Feels like padding not story. Enjoy the read.. Story is great. Characters are well constructed and entirely believable. Really draws you in and makes you want to turn that next page.
I have been reading the Aliomenti Saga series, and I have been eager from book one to find out what will happen in each new book. Having just finished book four I am still eager to read the next instalment. The writer makes the words flow, and the plot is one that makes it hard to put the books down. (I must admit to reading into the wee small hours to finish this one.) Alex Albrinck has studied each period of history that he has landed in in the series and makes the fantasy parts all very believable.
While the plot moved along as expected, I felt the author tried too hard to make this book self-explanatory, bringing up all of the issues from the first three books much too often. When writing a series where a book is clearly labeled #4, one should be able to expect some familiarity with the plot conditions on the part of the reader who was dedicated enough to keep slogging through. The book could have moved much faster and been more enjoyable.
This is the fourth book in the Aliomenti Saga and it is really good! This one takes a look at Will and friends setting up the Alliance in direct opposition to the Aliomenti. They create a base and go out into the world to help the humans set up and become more technologically advanced. Their goal is to be the change in the world that they would like to see but have to continuously come into opposition with the Alioment. A great read and I look forward to the next in the series.
If you like science fiction, this book was not bad at all. The first three books was for free on google play books right now. But of course, you need to read it from beginning, for if you read this book without reading the previous, you would not understand. The story begun interesting, for the story flow from 1600 until 1994, the year our main character birth. Whats the meaning here? Just read the series 😉
Boring, could barely finish. Will and Hope (perfect name choices for characters that could never do wrong and don’t) are just pure human beings (immortals) who are some of the most boring characters I’ve ever read. So much exposition. So much. Just done with this series right here. I wanted to see where it went but my husband reminded me that I complained about all of the books so much that I pretty much told him I hated the series. So I’m done.
The further I get into this series the more I enjoy it. I enjoyed reading about Will's leadership and how the Alliance came to be. Fun to fantasize about all of the technology. What a cliffhanger ending. Now that I'm already invested in the series, I don't mind feeling like I have to keep reading to see what happens
I predict Angel is his twin not his daughter

The story of Will, Shadow, Ava Adam continues you follow hoping for the best and marvel at strength of character that we see. I look forward to see the next chapter.
I cried several times reading this book! But I also laughed with Hope, Adam and Will! It made me think about life and how I might “Be the change” I want to see in the world!
Interesting story! though the author repeated facts a little too often! It was awesome when Eva and Hope joined agin. 💓 A few of the things could have been short. I still liked the books and recommend the entire set.
This book definitely has some plot twists and holes in it, but is not on the level of the previous books. I am however invested enough in the story to head to the next book
Once again the author has woven a wonderful complete book with wonderful characters. They have a beginning, middle and end so each one is fully explained and set in the story. I can’t wait to begin the next saga.
