'TIS THE SEASON FOR REVENGE

If asked, Thia McDaniel would say she has more than enough trouble.

One: She is the new owner of Eclectica, the most popular gift store in Granite Springs. If the advent of the winter holidays isn’t the busiest shopping time of the year, she doesn’t want to know what is.

Two: Not only is magic real, but thanks to the powers she unwittingly received from the Stone of Shadows, it is inside her—and until she learns control, she’ll be a danger to herself and anyone within range. (Which could be everyone.)

Three: She hasn’t heard from Cormac.

Four: No one has heard from Cassie, either.

Five: The Brigantium—despite being plagued with troubles of its own—continues to want her to join its secret ranks. But in the aftermath of betrayal from within, can the group be trusted?

And that's before Eclectica’s cafe manager disappears under suspicious circumstances and everything gets so much worse.

R.A. Finley is the author of the contemporary fantasy series, The Wheel of the Year; a former animator of technical gizmos and systems which she cannot share due to nondisclosure agreements; an aspiring photographer and artist; a fountain pen and ink enthusiast; a compulsive knitter; and a graduate of the London Film School, Gnomon School of Visual Effects, and Southern Oregon University (not in that order).

A self-described middling adventurer and terminal eccentric, she is surprised to find herself living in the Midwest even after several years, but maybe that’ll sort itself out eventually. Find her online here and on various social media sites (as @rafinley).

I could not wait for this book to be released. It was almost torture waiting for it to come out. I have to admit that it was definitely worth the wait. It was even better than I expected.

Just as a note: you can easily read this book without needing to have read The Stone of Shadows. There was ample background provided to understand what was going on in the story. However, you would only be missing out on another great read.

The Darkest Midnight reunites all of the wonderful characters introduced in The Stone of Shadows. I thought that they were awesome before, but new facets were revealed that made the mysterious characters even more intriguing as well as further developing the personalities of the other characters.

As for the story, it was thoroughly entertaining. Lots of action, adventure, and even that hint of sexual tension between various characters. It was even better than I had hoped it would be. I can not wait to see what happens next.

As a side note: it is always nice to read a story with so few errors and typos. I have almost come to expect them in every book I read. It is difficult to find a book of fiction that is of such great quality.

Thank you, R.A., for such an outstanding story. Your autograph made it even more special than it already was.
