Kathryn Denton is not your average college graduate. She's made more mistakes and been through more than anyone her age. But she's over that now. With her hard earned degree in hand, she's ready to go into the real world and forget about her past. Unfortunately, fate has other plans in store for her. Just as she's about to start her new life, she spends one night with the sexy, dangerous, and irresistible James Manticorps.
She may not realize it, but her world is about to change forever.
James Manticorps seems like someone who can have anything he wants. He's confident, charming...and also the CEO and heir to a multi-million dollar media business. But James Manticorps is not the freewheeling playboy that the media makes him out to be. When he realizes that all he wants is Kathryn, he finds that the one thing he wants, may be the only thing he can't have.
After a mind-blowing night with James, Kathryn finds out that not only is her new job at none other than Manticorps Media, but also that James Manticorps may be hiding much more.
As soon as Kathryn begins her new job, she's dropped into a tense political drama that spans generations. Will Kathryn be able to cope?
Will James Manticorps tear her apart or will he make her whole?
The author doesn't realize that to write a good serial, there has to be a clear ending in the first book. Too many unanswered questions. No resolution to the first story!
Ok, so the other two books in this trilogy aren't on here for some reason. So, this review is of all three books together.
Kat was a whiney, spinless twit who cried far too often. James was ok but not really all that memorable as far as book boyfriend's go. Apparently, he's like, totally hot and looks good with stubble and has a monster cock. But that's ok, cause Kat has serious vaginal drainage issues and could proabably lubricate an entire mansion of squeaky doors all by herself. Wet is good, messy sex is good but for the love of God... Also, the author started repeating herself, bullet hard nipples, bullet hard clit, truncheon hard cock...we get it, their shit is hard, move on. My final sex complaint...this book helps show all the misconceptions of anal sex. People get it in their minds that all you need is a little spit and you can ram that bad boy home and ride her like a bronco...uh no. You cannot take someone who has never had anal sex before, lube your moster cock up with some spit and some cum and shove that thing in with no prep and no other lube and bang her like a porn star. Unless, of course, your goal is tearing and internal injuries.
Also, I didn't like the way the Heahter issue was resolved. There was all this build up, all this drama and then...nothing, we just go to the future.
Overall, the books were ok. Three short reads that were quick and easy if you have nothing else to do.
It's a long weekend and I'm reading some of the short freebies on my TBR shelf so I thought I would look at some of the new adult books on that shelf and came across this one. This was an okay read but I had problems with it.
I'm not a fan of the serial like this where authors take a story and separate them into 3 or more books and leave you hanging in between the breaks. This one definitely had that break. Not really a cliffhanger but definitely something that you should be able to go to the next chapter and finish the thought.
Normally when I get to that end and the next installments are $3 a pop I'd call it a day and move on. Well the 2nd and 3rd ones are available to borrow, so I thought what the heck. And moved on to the second one.
Meet Katherine, just graduated college and moving to Portland to start her new job. While packing her truck, the ex-boyfriend shows up and tries to cause a scene. Then James shows up to be the knight in shining armor. The attraction between Katherine and James is immediate and he looks like a sexy bad boy. After a wild night together and leaving college, Katherine finds out that her new job will be the Image Consultant for James Manticorps of Manticorps Media. To help with his image before his wedding. Can she work with him and her feelings are getting stronger each day? Will James find out the truth about his fiance? Can't wait to read book 2 (Shattered) to see what happens next. This is the first book for me by Angela Stephens and I am looking forward to reading more.
Although all three parts of this series don't show on goodreads they are all currently out on amazon. The first, Broken, is free but the other two are currently $2.99 on amazon. Even though it's an ok series I feel this price was a bit high for the length of each novelette. Easily read each part in about 2 hours.
The series conscept is interesting, but tying everything up at the end wasn't a smooth transition. Some questions I had throughout the book were not resolved either.
Also note that I don't recomend starting book 1 without getting the other two books because it's more like a full novel broken up into 3 parts, than each one being read as a standalone they just sort of stop and the next book starts right where the other left off.

Definitely didn't realize this was one of those short story series. I totally missed that in the description. I was really getting into Kathryn and James' story and then it just ended, with a cliff hanger, and I wanted to throw my Nook across the room. Now, if I want to complete the story, I have to pay an additional $2.99 per book (which may I say, each one only has about 100 pages). I'm really starting to despise these "mini" books. Really, just throw the full 300 pages together and let's be done with it.
I really liked this story and although I complain about it now, I will most likely suck it up, pay the money and finish the series.
I was debating whether to give this higher than 2 stars, but ended up with two. It really was an interesting book. I liked Kathryn, but then again, I didn't like her. She was pretty spineless after all. And trusting a guy that much after spending time with him like 5 minutes? Seriously? No wonder there are so many serial killers in the world, if all you have to do is talk nicely.
The ending was a tad too fast for my taste and didn't resolve anything.
The sex scenes were hot enough but again, Kathryn could have shown even some self respect?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Even though this was a short story, I really enjoyed it! I just don't appreciate having to wait for the second and third enstallment whenever they are released.
Loved the story and the smexy scenes were hot and intense. Not sure if I would have been as pliant as Kat, but then again, James might be very insistent.
The worst thing for me when reading a book is when it just stops suddenly, there's no end to it and you have to go out and buy the next book to actually complete the story. This is a classic example of that.
Don't bother reading it unless you're prepared to buy the others, I'm not.
Kathryn had a one night stand, who turns out to be her future boss James, that is engaged to a childhood family friend of his. There's drama around the corner... This was a very short book.
Broken is part of a three part series and leaves the reader with a cliffhanger, which I find irritating. It does not motivate me to purchase another hundred or so pages to find out what is next and be given another cliffhanger.
The story is neither bad nor good but just average as to plot, character development and it starts with a sex scene between strangers, which is not my favored story plot. It isn't realistic for a story about a girl that is seeking to start a new career and appears to have a good job ethic, wants a normal relationship and one that lasts.
