Getting Them Up

Rate this book
The story of the abrupt coming-of-age of a young scientist who is faced head-on with physical and sexual rebirth, amid worldwide genetic disaster.

How unfortunate, that little slip-up. He’d let mutant sea creatures loose in Earth’s oceans. One bit him and now his scrawny self has mutated into the body of an Adonis. But he’s a prisoner on a hospital ship, and forced to “cure” its civilian population. Worse—awesome, tall, and nubile reptilian women surround him, but all they want to do is suck his toes. He’d been hoping for much more!

Historical Sci-fi Romance Series (elements of time travel and steampunk): AGES OF INVENTION: There are many ways into the past--quantum entanglement, past life regression, channeling--their fueling all depends on the FLOW. So far the time-traveling quantum computer has taken our lovers to Scotland of the past (1717) a time of lenses and telescopes (ENTANGLED). And in FLY LIKE AN EAGLE, Philadelphia of 1824 sees the opening of the Franklin Institute of Science and a rare glimpse of Franklin's kite experiment--in action. [Cameos from Leibniz, Newton, Amelia Earhart, and H.G. Wells.]

In pre-order and newly out, a romantic suspense, OPEN SEASON ON LOVE AND DEATH: Maddy is about to challenge the number one player in the world--both on and off the court. How unfortunate. His mother is willing to do everything she can to thwart her--including poison.

Before the end of the year: SPACE FOR US, a sci-fi romantic space opera, that exposes part of my secret life as an aerospace forensics engineer, will be published, through, I hope, my first agent.

Scientist William longs to have an attractive body like his childhood friend and fellow scientist Neal. But when William gets bitten by mutant sea creatures, he gets his wish and finds out he got a lot more into the bargain, including alien sex--or is it just toe-sucking?

William was my favorite character in this book. Burns deftly handles the point-of-view changes between him and the captain. The story takes some surprising twists on the way to the resolution.

Although Burns obviously knows the science behind this book, at times the science overwhelms the story. None the less, I would like to read more about these characters and this world.
