I highly recommend reading over the guide a few days before your vacation/trip. Lots of good information, recommendations. I found the maps rather confusing. If you are not familiar with Chicago, spend extra time figuring out the different areas. The maps would have been much more useful had the areas been color coded on the main Chicago map. Instead, all the boxes are the same color and it is difficult to figure out which area map to refer. The book misses some of my old & new favorites (La Creperie, Moonstruck, McCormick & Schmicks) but Chicago is just so big it can't all be in there! Next trip I must go to Eno (wine, chocolate and cheese). Sounds yummy!

I can't count the number of day trips when visiting family...you know, 8-10 relatives in the back of the van conducting 3-4 different conversations at once and never knowing where the heck we were until we got "there", but I've never stayed in a hotel downtown! I'm morphing into a tourist for a week in April. I must prepare!
