Finally we get Mack. I was wondering hoe he would match up as he never had obvious "revenge reasons/links" with the mafia, but we got a plot of note. Sad, romantic, secrets, all in one. Absolutely enjoyed this book

Mack Cunningham (age 29) is head of security for Barrett Enterprises. He is aware of The Dark Kings and their mission.
Summer Botticelli (age 28) is a former soldier who just joined the team.
We’ve been teased by Mack for a while so having his story is exciting and doesn’t disappoint. After losing Summer once he wasn’t making that mistake again. Add on some nice steamy scenes as he finally claims his girl!
Some parts of the storyline were annoying. Summer and Mack are childhood friends and have loved each other from day 1 so why Summer dates and sleeps with someone else just doesn’t make any sense. I felt it takes away from the love and connection they ‘had’.
I did like how Summer didn’t hold any anger towards Mack when learning the truth. She actually keeps making choices to protect him and it’s nice to see the h do that for once.
AND we finally get our BHS guys working with the Dark Kings! I loved seeing them together along with all the prior couple cameos!

HOTTT!
I read the first book in the series, The Darkest King, because it sounded good and it was free. The cast of characters drew me in, so I bought the rest of the series. I enjoyed the second and third books, but I wasn't expecting much from Mack's story because his character was vague and bland in the prior books. Well, here I am 53% of the way through the story and already leaving a review. OMG, the heat between Mack & Summer.... SPICY. The backstory a little unexpected at first, but intriguing. I'm not usually into the second chance trope - but this story makes it work. At this point, the story would have to really tank to deflate my reader high. It that happens, I'll update the review. Otherwise, I think Juliette N. Banks it's going to get much more of my Kindle budget this year. She's got the right mix of spice, darkness, surprise, and intrigue to keep me reading.

Mack, who is now the chief operating officer of Barrett Enterprises, has to welcome the new recruits. As he looks over the list he sees a ghost from10 years ago. Summer Botticelli was the girl he was going to marry but those plans changed when he killed the son of the capo Dante Scapino who was raping Summer. He left town and changed his name. When he sees Summer he is going to make her his. Summer only hates Mack for not coming back for her. She wants transferred to another branch but Mack plans to get her to say she loves him and then find out what she is so worried about. This is where you have to read the book. It unfolds beautifully. Great series, must read.

needs editing, but still a great book
Plot is great, spice is 4/5, but holy errors Batman, it seems like the editor phoned it in. First, Marine in reference to a human - not the ocean or aquatic life - is a proper noun and is always with a capital “M” - ALWAYS. Ask a Marine. This is the first series I’ve read by this author, and at book 4, this should have been fixed by now. 2nd - is he Major Cunningham or Captain? This author is great, but needs a better editor. Lots of little errors that a good editor would have caught, and it doesn’t do the plot justice. I’m definitely going to keep with the author and read more books, and hopefully the editing gets better.

Mack and Summer give you all the feels. Childhood sweethearts ripped apart when the romance is just starting by a horrific event and then they eventually find their way back to have a happily ever after. I mean what’s not to love?! The dark moments are out weighted by light ones. You kinda need both to balance things and Juliette rocks it. There is a scene of non consent so if that’s a trigger, read with caution. Watching these hot men take on another mafia family and score one more for the good guys makes it all worth it.

When he sees her being raped he kills the man and has to go on the run. Mack joins the military and doesn’t see Summer for 10 yrs. Summer thought Mack was dead and getting out of the military she joins BSE where she sees Mack. I really enjoyed this series and can’t wait for the next book. I love Ms Banks as an author and plan on reading more of her books.

Loved it!!!! OMG 😱 this story of Mack and Summer was fantastic it had emotional, revenge, heartbreak moments, secrets, lies, sadness and revenge. It will you feeling all kinds of emotions. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was intense sad and happy all mixed up in one. I couldn’t even imagine put it down it was sizzling 🥵. Finding his true love once again was breathtaking and romance . I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones

Summer and Mack’s story will grab you from the first page. The childhood sweethearts are torn apart by tragedy. Mack never gives up on Summer and his love for her. His love for her just makes you love him more. It’s the kind of love most only dream about. I could not put this book down once I picked it up. Summer is one hell of a female lead and her strength is unreal. This is one book you don’t want to miss and you will want to reread again and again.

After 3 books we finally get to REALLY meet Mack. And he does NOT disappoint! He has so much depth to him. I was falling for how wonderful he was towards Summer. Their story will break your heart, and then give you hope. And finally give you all the mushy happiness! This one hits all the marks! I was not ready for this one to end.

Absolutely Thrilling! I didn’t think this series could get any better but Lordy…. Mack is a whole other level! He is so Alpha Male and I love it! The story was filled with secrecy, angst, anger, and so much drama that I was glued to my kindle! Must mention the steamy scenes OMG!!! HOTTT 🔥 🔥🔥 This book had all the feels and ended with a coveted HEA 🤗 Anxiously awaiting Baxter’s story next!!!!

I loved this story of Mack and Summer. Two kids growing up up in the same neighborhood and both loving the other until disaster strikes in the form of Dante Servino. He craps her and rapes her then Mack shoots him.
Ten years later Summer arrives as a new recruit at BSE.

another 5 star read. Juliette never fails to impress
Love this series, im really sad that there is only 1 more book to read. I adore the crossover mentions of other series, it’s like reconnecting with lost friends.

I actually DEVOURED THIS BOOK in under 6hrs! I love the entire serie but there’s something about a live long love story where there’s a heartbreak early on but he prove her his love in the end. I love that Summer is also a badass!

OMG .what a love story ,going back to when they were kids .Mafia dealings .separation ..Never stopped loving each other .You go through the lows .the heartache and the happiness all including Conner ,Decker,Nathan and the girls .As usual you can not beat Juliette N Banks for her writing ..

I think this is my new favorite of the series!! Again with the plot and story that pull you in and keep you invested and then the spice to keep you reading!
Summer and Mack's story has been my favorite. I just felt connected and invested in their HEA. All the heart eyes and chili peppers 😉

When he sees her being assaulted, he does what any good man would do, and now has to go on the run. On the run, Mack decides to join the military and doesn’t see Summer for 10 yrs. While Summer thought Mack was dead, she still hoped he’d come back for her and take her away from the horrors of a neighborhood being run by the Mafia. When she gets horrific news, she decides to wait about 22months, and then to get away from the dark and dirty hands of the Mafia, she joins the military.
Skip 10 years, and she’s just getting out of the military, she joins BSE where she sees Mack after so many years of thinking he was gone. Their reunited and I’ll be DAMNED if Mack isn’t claiming his woman after so long of them being forced apart. I believe this was 100% worth the wait. Mack is EVERYTHING and He’s DEFINITELY my new book boyfriend.

The Avenged King had me laughing, crying, clenching my thighs together, biting my nails from being anxious to see what happens. Mack and Summer have a story that will pull you in from the very first page and keep you glued to the pages until the very end. . With Mack and Summers story I felt like I was there with them and felt every emotion they did. This story has romance, mystery, angst, anger, some terror filled moments, action and I absolutely fell in love with all the characters, but Mack is by far my new book boyfriend. I will be reading this book over and over again.

I made the mistake of starting this book 30 minutes before work. That was all it took for me to be hooked and want to call off for the day! Mack and Summer have a backstory that gripped me from the first pages and I devoured this book. The action, the chemistry and the best HEA. Love this series and how it just keeps getting better.
