Prissie can't wait to share her Christmas traditions with him. Including Ransom and Marcus in the festivities is harder to take. A new enemy turns out to be an old friend. The Broken Window by Christa Kinde was incredible! I loved the pacing of the story, I couldn't help but read it all at once. Throughout the series,we have witnessed the main character,Prissie Pomeroy, realize that she can see angels. However, until now she has only seen those of Heaven. Seeing the Fallen ones are more disturbing than she imagined. When we first met Prissie in The Blue Door, she was young, oblivious, and slightly naiive. Through the series thus far,we see her mature and understand enough to not just watch and question, but act and assist. Prissie cares for her angelic friends more than ever.
Christa Kinde has done yet another marvelous job of weaving the series together. The characters are well-developed,and become friends to those reading as well. So much detail has been placed, one may need to read it multiple times. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat until well after the last page. For me, when I finish a good book, I receive a thrill of excitement in anticipation for the next one. This book left me ready for more, for the conclusion of the Threshold series.
Thanks to Christa Kinde and Zondervan for letting me read and review this book.

In the Broken Window we all hold our breaths as we watch a plot unfold, a rescue ensue, and a capture take place; with Prissie Pomeroy in the center of God's perfect plan. This book will leave you spell bound and just dying for more. If you love books that are chalk-full of spiritual insight, you will love this series.

What a delightful story of a family's faith. Even though I hadn't read the first two (and there is the final book to go), this was a heartwarming story unto itself.

The Broken Window:
Prissie Pomeroy is a girl with a special gift. She can see angels. And this gift has let her do some incredible things.

“I don’t remember anything like this there,” she murmured, tentatively reaching out to touch the melodic light. He watched her exploration without comment, which Prissie took as permission to continue. Color slipped through her fingers like nothing she’d ever encountered - softer then silk, lighter then air. It tickled across her skin like a breeze, and brought a smile to her face. Finally, she asked, “What is all this?”
Milo’s eyebrows lifted slightly, “My wings.”

But even if the incredible things are good, her gift has let her see and hear about things that she would much rather not know about.

She asked, “Are we the only ones here?”
The captain explained, “These four spend the most time with you.” That made sense, and when she nodded, Jedrick continued, “I cannot say if you have come to know us because you are in danger, or if you are in danger because you have come to know us. Either way, the threat is real, for Adin seems to have singled you out.”
“And he’s a demon?”
“He has set himself against God,” Jedrick confirmed.

And a battle with demons is closer to her house then she could ever have imagined. And the angels still don’t know where Ephron (an angel captured by demons) is. And Prissie may be in more danger then she thinks she is.

“Allow me,” offered and all-too-familiar voice.
Prissie’s head jerked up, and she stared in shock into Adin’s handsome face. He stood tall and proud, dressed in a neatly tailored suit and draped in a luxurious black cloak. “Quickly,” he urged, holding out his gloved hand with a serene smile.

But even if Adin is pretty good at acting like an angel, Prissie knows better. And she spots something that is very wrong.

“Your wings,” she gasped.
For an instant, his expression hardened, but Adin rallied, “Never mind that. Come with me. I know someplace safe.”
Scooting backwards in the snow, Prissie choked out a weak, “No!”

But, just in time, Prissie is rescued by Tamaes. She is terribly frightened, but a few days later, something amazing happens.

“Where am I?”
“With me,” the voice replied, “I never expected to find you in dreams.”
“Y-you know who I am?”
“Yes, Prissie. I know you,” he replied.
She could hear a smile in his tone, but she wasn’t ready to trust. “Do I know you?” she asked nervously.
“No,” he sighed, “We have never met, but you are Koji’s precious friend. He often speaks of you.”
Prissie had no idea how she knew, but the epiphany was dazzling. Stretching out her hand, she attentively whispered, “Ephron?”

The Broken Window is an amazing book, and it is the third book in the Threshold series. If you loved the other two books in this series, this one won’t disappoint you! It’s one of my top-favorite books. I think it is written for all ages.

I think I would've enjoyed this book better if I had read the first two books first, as most of the time I did not know what was happening. I enjoyed the writing, but could not relate to the characters too much, having not read the first two books in the series. I think the author just expects the readers to know everything that's happening because it's the third book.

REVIEW

THE BROKEN WINDOW is the third book in The Threshold Series. Book One was THE BLUE DOOR, Book Two was THE HIDDEN DEEP and soon to come is Book Four, THE GARDEN GATE. The series started out with the main character Prissie Pomeroy, a young 15 year old.

She has realized she can communicate with angels. The angels she has known have been from Heaven. When she sees the angels that have Fallen, she is very upset. From the first book THE BLUE DOOR, we have followed Prissie and watched her change from the naive young girl to a much more mature young adult. She still has and cares for her angel friends. Prissie is about to learn some valuable lessons about what is important and what isn't. They are very important to her. Ms. Kinde doesn't fail to deliver a another wonderful book that is not only entertaining but carries a spiritual message also. There isn't any preaching, just a subtle message for the young readers. It is not a religious book, per say. The author has developed the characters throughout the series. The reader is not only reading a story but they can become part of it. They can be Prissie's friend. This is a wonderful book for the young and the young at heart to read and re-read. I don't think you can get enough of Prissie and her angels. Ms. Kinde gives the reader a book that is paced just right for the young reader. They can be part of the adventure. They will encounter demons, wars, angels, and more. They will encounter a war between the angels and demons. This series is a good, clean series with a big lesson to be learned in an easy way. I must warn you, you will want to read the entire series and even then you won't have enough. Ms. Kinde has shared her talents with all of us, not just the young reader. So gather up the series and start reading. Best if you leave a little time, because once you start you won't want to quit.

I would give this book 4 STARS.

I was given a complimentary copy of THE BROKEN WINDOW from the author, Christa Kinde for my unbiased review.

Prissie's adventures with the angels around her town are starting to get a little more serious. She's finally understanding more of the spiritual battle they are engaged in, and seeing that the fight isn't an easy one. In her more ordinary life, too, things are growing more difficult. Rumors abound, and her friends are actively distancing themselves from her. Christmas is around the corner, but what kind of holiday is waiting for her?

Fair warning: if you're reading this WITHOUT book 4 on hand, put it down until you can get them both. That ending was amazing and cut off way too fast, with all sorts of consequences that are bound to play out in amusing ways. Unlike the first two books, the story doesn't feel more or less settled by the end, either.

I liked that Ransom finally got a straight answer out of Prissie for why she hates him so much. And what that reason actually is. It's just as surprising as a lot of the ordinary things that have happened so far, with Prissie coming to realize herself her reason is basically poor. And Ransom is very much game to try to break her out of her bad attitude. I love his sense of humor.

And Prissie finally gets her act together and does what various characters have been hinting she ought to do for a long time: pray. It's a sobering challenge to her in the first book that pointed out she isn't interested in the suffering of people (or angels) she doesn't know about. Even when she learns more, she still neglects to pray, until finally she's confronted with something she can't deny. I have my suspicions about how this will all play into her choices going forward (and I'm almost positive her Aunt Ida will help). It's as big a moment for her as Ransom's big decision is for him.

I'm liking this series more and more with each book. Especially with the way this one ended, I can't wait to get the next one read. I rate this book Highly Recommended.

The Broken Window is the third book in the Threshold series, and when Prissie Pomeroy's hometown is under attack by fallen angels there is only so much anyone can do. The attacks are many, and when Prissie is surrounded by it all she is overwhelmed by what she sees. The evil is closer than she wants it to be, but there are many who are ready at a moments notice to protect her.
Will Prissie be able to give her fears over to God?

...A storm is brewing, but no one can stop what is about to happen. Will those who Prissie love most be hurt by the ones who wish her harm?

The excitement hasn't stopped! I really enjoyed The Broken Window, it was fun to read, and I was happy to know what happened next. The Broken Window didn't let me down. I just love all of the characters, Prissie and the angels: Baird, Kester, Koji, Milo, Tamaes, and the many others. They all have their great personalities, making them a wonderful team. I think that this may be my favorite book in the series, but number four is pretty close. :)
So, are you wanting to read a great and exciting book? Go on over and find yourself a copy of The Broken Window. You won't be disappointed!

Overall I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

The third book in the Threshold series continues the story of 14-year-old Prissie Pomeroy and the angels and demons around West Edinton. The Fallen are becoming more aggressive in their assaults, and Prissie is seeing more and more of the spiritual battles that have always been taking place around her town.

Is there something special about West Edinton? Why are so many Grafted angels concentrated there? And why won't the annoying Ransom Pavlos leave Prissie alone?

As with the other books in the series, 'The Broken Window' will be most thoroughly enjoyed by Christian tween- and teenaged readers. But an imaginative setting, engaging characterisation, and excellent writing make it worth reading for anyone who appreciates fantasy.

I give this five stars (and would give it more) because of the gripping page-turning story Christa Kinde weaves in The Broken Window. Prissiness Pomeroy has grown accustomed to seeing angels, although they do many things that still surprise her. Until now, she has only seen the good side. In the Broken Window, Prissie realizes that all is not what it seems. To me, these books force you to acknowledge with Prissie that the world is bigger than you. Though we can not see the big picture, it is there. Watching Prissie mature has been a marvelous adventure that I have enjoyed taking with her. I truly can not wait to see what comes next in The Garden Gate!!!

Authorial re-read because I promised someone special an annotated copy of the book.

Although Book #3 couldn't be what it is without what came before, there's a definite uptick in pacing with this installment in the Threshold Series. Yanked me in so deep, I had to grab Book #4 to see the story through.

Adorable story that will tug at your heartstrings. Well written with a smoothly flowing plot perfect for kids of all ages. The characters are well rounded and easy to connect with. The religious elements, while frequent, are not preachy or overdone. Easy to read and follow along.

I was so excited to read The Broken Window. This latest installment of the Threshold series shows Prissie growing up and learning more about herself, her angel friends, and God. This was beautifully written and I loved getting deeper into God as I read it.
