Try as hard as you like, there's just no pleasing a disapproving rabbit Let them hop around your house, they'll disapprove of your decorating skills. Feed them tasty veggies, they'll disapprove of your culinary skills. Sit together in your yard, and they'll disapprove of your gardening (even as they devour it). Long thought of as mindless raiders of gardens and happy couriers of colored eggs, it's almost as if rabbits have been getting the best of us for years, secretly disapproving of all our non-rabbit ways. Fortunately Sharon Stiteler, known as the Bird Chick for her work in the birding community, began to notice something not-quite-right about her pet rabbit Cinnamon. It appeared that Cinnamon didn't approve . . . of anything. After studying a great many photos, Sharon has soundly and without-out-a-doubt proved that rabbits have some major attitude.
This is a rather silly little book but it makes me laugh. I own a rabbit and for the longest time I felt that I could do nothing to make her happy. I found this and was so relieved that I wasn't the only rabbit owner out there that felt like their pet was silently judging them.
Look, it's just photos of cute bunnies with disapproving expressions. It's not going to win any great awards, but it was a lovely bit of fluff (ha!) to read over a cup of coffee while in lockdown.
This is a fun, quick little read. It's just pictures of bunnies with funny captions, but it preserves the best of the now-defunct DisapprovingRabbits.com. Sometimes you need a little light entertainment.
I would've given the book one more star if the author had written a little more about life with the bunnies, but it's almost entirely pictures and captions.
If you've ever lived with a rabbit you will totally understand this book. There's nothing like getting a disapproving stare from a rabbit and trust me you can't escape it. The only downside of this book is that I don't think I will ever look at my rabbit the same way again. This book had me in hysterics at times. I think I have lived most of the pictures, from disapproval of new furniture to substandard food, to the evil eye whenever I pick up my bunny. This is probably a book I will keep around to flip through whenever I'm feeling sad and down as it will either make me smile or giggle like a crazy person depending on which page I open it to. A must read for any rabbit lovers or those owned by their own house rabbits.
The idea of the concept behind the book is awesome. The execution? Not so great. We live in the age of phenomenal technology and talent when it comes to photography. This book just doesn't cut it in that department. A lot of the photos are grainy or out of focus. A lot of the captions were pretty witty, though.
Umm…it’s a book with pictures of rabbits in varying states of disgruntlement. Each picture has a caption about how the rabbit doesn’t approve of being put into a tutu or doesn’t approve of swimming pools or whatnot. Overall, there’s very little content and most of the pictures aren’t particularly good. Great for five year olds. 1Q, 2P
Another hysterical book about rabbits. The author's rabbit, Cinnamon, is the star and is on the cover, but lots of other rabbits are featured inside. All have disdain for their humans, and they have the funniest expressions on their furry faces. The author has a website, www.disapprovingrabbits.com, and 2 of my rabbits were actually featured on it for the Feb. 14, 2008 entry.
I want to own a copy of this book. I don't and it really is a shame because this was one of the cutest reads I've had in a long time. I may have to put this book on my Christmas Wish list. If you love cute pictures of rabbits then you will love this book!
Very challenging read that left me on the final page desiring some kind of recognition that I had accomplished racking my brain with quite a notable literary work, yet, I was only met staring into the face of pure disapproval!
As a rabbit owner (I have 3) this book cracked me up. I must say that sadly, I get those looks of disapproval more than I would like to admit. An adorable book for rabbit lovers everywhere :)
