High Plains Shifters, Book 6
Madden Moon knows what the woman is the second she walks into the old café. Shifter. Wolf. Trouble. Struck by her beauty and the air of exhaustion about her, the leader of the Texas Rogues wishes her straight out of town. But as the mating energy of their species sizzles between them and her enemies approach, Madden has no alternative but to bring the beautiful lycan under his protection and into his bed.
Runaway Lana Vronski is in big trouble. As she races through the woods, local wolves in hot pursuit, she believes all is lost until she’s rescued by oh-so-sexy Madden. When he offers her sanctuary and sex hot enough to singe them both, she accepts his proposal. But it isn’t until the mating heat between them burns wildly out of control that Lana learns her true salvation awaits in his arms. Lana’s enemies are relentless, however, and will stop at nothing to rip her from the arms of the man she loves.

Regina Carlysle is an award winning, multi-published author. She likes writing that is hot, edgy, and often humorous, and puts this trademark stamp on all of her stories. Regina lives in west Texas with her husband of 25 years and counting and is a doting, fawning, and over-indulgent mother to her two kids. When she's not penning steamy erotic tales or hot contemporary stories, she's indulging in long chats with friends who help her stay sane and keep her laughing.

This is a great paranormal shifter book. I enjoyed it and even though I haven’t read the first five, I don’t fill like I was missing out on any important information.

Lana is on the run from her father and the mate that he has chosen for her. She knows that if she stays that she will be raped and beaten by her mate. She wants to be able to mate for love and not just because her dad forces her. She is on the run for awhile and is about to pass out. She knows that she has found a place that has shifters and humans living in the same town. She notices a man that makes her feel things that she has no idea what they are. She leaves and gets almost to her car, when she is being chased by wolves. Seems the guy in the cafe is more than she knew he was when he saves her.

Madden Moon knows the woman in the cafe needs to get out of town. He can tell she is on the run and has more issues than he wants to deal with. Good thing that he goes with his feelings when he sees that Lana is on the run from wolves. Mad is the leader of the Texas Rogues. When Lana asks for his help he tells her that he will protect her and so will his pack. Seems that Mad also notices something else, something that he has been waiting a long time for. She’s his mate.

This was one well written book. I couldn’t put this book down until I reached the end. I can’t wait to read the next book. This was a really exciting, suspenseful, and hot story. I love to read books about wolves finding their mates and getting to save them. I believe that you need an alpha male that takes control and will do anything to protect the woman that he loves. I really love the name Madden Moon and there are some humor and jokes about his name.

If you love books that have shifters in them and a love that can’t be denied then this is the book for you.

I really liked the other books in this series and looked forward to reading this, despite the fact the main characters were never mentioned in other books.

Unfortunately, this book really missed the mark for me. I didn't feel invested in these characters at all. We are in a new place with very little mention of the old gang. The pacing is slow, yet we are passing over weeks of time supposedly. Even the sex was lackluster. Also, she reuses names from other books (Anton) who aren't the same person but similar enough I got confused. I hate to rate this author so low, but she really phoned it in on this one.

Everything Regina Carlysle writes is extraordinary and her High Plains shifters are among my favorite stories. But she's outdone herself with MAD MOON. As you read the story you will wish you were Lana, mating hotly with Madden, the man with whom she will find her salvation. I mean, what's sexier than a really hot guy who is also a wolf, right? Regina really gets into the minds of her characters and pulls you into the story. Once I started it I couldn't put it down. Don't miss this one. for sure.
