Readers will be captivated by real life stories -- some simple and everyday, while others are miraculous -- where the only possible response to how things turned out "It's a God thing."
I picked this book up in at a stall at a convention in 2017 and it took me quite a while to start it. I liked this book, but not to the degree that I hoped I would. It's A God Thing is 42 stories, in which people bare all to tell you how they have experienced the love of God. The book is separated into 5 parts, each dealing with a separate aspect of God's love, such as, God's protection, God's provision etc.
My issue with this book is that it's a little like reading Wikipedia articles. Have you ever dived through loads of Wiki articles? Well usually you consume so much information that, after a while, you don't remember specifics. This is the same for me. There are a number of stories that stick out in my memory. But many of them were so similar and so short that I've blended them into one.
I also feel like the intent behind this anthology is to help the reader look at their on life and use these experiences to show them how they have experienced the love of God without even realising it. However, I have not had meningitis, I have not had a car breakdown on the motorway, I have not been robbed in a bathroom in Russia. I could go on, but as amazing as some of these stories are (no. 11: Be Not Afraid by James Bailey really sticks out), I can not figure out how to apply these to my life. However, the last section of everyday miracles did help me examine my own life and I enjoyed that section the most.
Overall, I really enjoyed this anthology and would read something similar in the future. Perhaps it's because I don't have enough life experience and you would find this more applicable.
A pastor gave me this book today as a Christmas gift as I left the parish. I thought, What if I read it?, it couldn't do me harm. So I read it cover to cover and found my own similar story would fit in really nicely. I am an Ancient Christian and don't follow any denomination, but the pastor's kindness is truly remarkable. Everyone was smiling and welcoming me. Think good thoughts and so shall be returned to you. Even when the heater goes out, your debt card gets cleaned out, and college loan are being collected, and your knew surgery went foul, the advent of having God in your corner is appealing. I give books that I've read away all the time, so it is so nice for someone to think of me every once in a while. Merry Christmas if you like. Do the God thing if you feel as grateful as I. Grace has been paid for and it is your's to keep if you want it.
