Diagnosed with a chronic reproductive problem that would prevent her from having children, Abby walked away from Gabe and her dreams of a life as his mate.
Then came the curve ball. She was pregnant with his child, a child that the human doctors assured her would miscarry before viability.
What's a girl to do? Tell Gabe and force him to mourn a child that couldn't possibly survive or try to carry their son alone and face heartbreak the same way?
No brainer. Or so she thought.
Not only did Michael survive, he thrived. Now Abby is a single Hauaa to a Xxanian crossbred child, in a world where anti-Xxan guerillas are looking for the next reason to attack...and with no clue how she's going to explain the situation to Gabe.

Back to the alien Xxan. This can be read as a stand alone but I think readers would enjoy it more if they read the first in the series which has been re- released as Daahn Rising. ( previously was the first two books in the series- Mating Season and Close Enough to Human) I enjoyed both Gabe and Abby. Xxan are alpha alien males that love fiercely and have a little something "extra" for their mates ~wink wink~ I only have two complaints. A few editing errors where names were mixed up or wrong and .
I liked this ebook. I read it out of order but that did not effect the back story and I picked up the Xxan 1 based on the this Xxan 2. I could see why the heroine did not tell the hero that she had his child as she did not think she could have children.
Abby didn't know she could get pregnant and then she didn't know that the baby would live... she set out to protect her boyfriend should the loss kill him....
Yet...her child lived and now they are in trouble. I loved the world created by Ms. Lyons. She shares an alien race that while dominant, puts their women and children first. This duality is at heart the nature of what most women want in a mate...a boss in bed and a protector at heart.
Gabe isn't a human male and when he finds out that his ex had his baby, he's conflicted. It's all he's dreamed of. But we know that society doesn't take to differences well... and now Gabe's baby sets about a firestorm.
The antics of Michael made me laugh. I could see him clearly and knew he's be a little stinker but one who captured my heart. This book brings back many of the characters from Ms. Lyons' other books and ties them together. A must read for her Xxan series!
The alien society etiquette and beliefs is explained but not in detail enough. A group bath to welcome her to the nest??? A directive by the alpha that she needed daily "attention" (read: sex) for 3 months to make up for the hardship she has suffered??? The why of this would have been nice.
I did enjoy this book but wasn't rushing to download others in the series.
