It really was a bunch of random facts. Some I already knew, but there were some new bits. A fun little knowledge builder.

Very short but for its short length it really packs in all the essential facts about England. Obviously it includes all of the best known facts but it also highlights a number of lesser known facts. This is a great read for anyone who wants a quick overview of facts about England but never seems to get around to reading one or more of the many history books out there. I rated minus one star only because it is so short.

I borrowed this Audiobook from Hoopla in order to learn some more London/ English facts prior to my big upcoming trip. Boy, what a joke this book is. Luckily I didn’t purchase it or I would beg for a refund!

Firstly, it is a painstaking list of each fact. 1......the fact. 2.......the next fact. Now too much expounded on each one just THE FACT. Then the reader acted like it was the first time he ever saw the material, over-enunciating each and every sentence. And I cannot count how many mispronounced words he stated that made me laugh or wonder who was producing this. Didn’t they catch this? Didn’t they have time for a retake? Mispronouncing the River Thames (saying it like it’s spelled), calling it a Catholic di-O-cese with accent on the second syllable? Really? But the kicker was “if you’re going to Liverpool, home of the Beatles and Lennon and McCarthy......”. Oh come on!

Skip this book, and watch a good BBC documentary or program instead! You will be more entertained and come out with much more knowledge.
