Read the clue . . . guess the animal . . . giggle wildly . . . and repeat! At long last, board book virtuoso Nina Laden has created a companion to her beloved classic Peek-a Who? (one of Scholastic magazine's 100 Greatest Books for Kids with more than 800,000 copies sold). Colorful pictures and a lively, rhyming text help children predict what animal is peeking through die-cut windows. The anticipation of what's hiding on the next page and the bright, engaging illustrations will keep youngsters laughing and learning all the way to the surprise ending.
I received a free copy of Peek-A-Zoo from a Goodreads First Reads giveaway. What a wonderful sequel to Laden's earlier, Peek-A-Who. Bright illustrations with lots of pattern and texture to them draw the eyes from page to page. The cutouts on each page are a neat "peek" at the next animal to be discovered by the young reader. A wonderful book to keep the attention of infants and toddlers alike.
This is a cute, sturdy book perfect for little grandkids that like to chew on their books a bit. The pictures are cute and colorful and I would definitely recommend this little book for grandparents to share with their little grandkids.
Another enjoyable read (and recommended with repitive words for children with CAS - childhood apraxia of speech - my child was obsessed with everything Nina Laden 💙)

Summary: This book written by Nina Laden is all about zoo animals. The book has a cut out where you can see part of the animal on the next page and you will get a clue as to what the animal on the next page is.
Review: This book is simple and easy for young children to listen to. As i was reading this book to a child, she could not stop giggling, smiling and guessing what the next animal was going to be. As an adult reader, I enjoyed reading this book and seeing the reaction of the listener. This book is a good way to familiarize children with various animals. I liked the bright, and happy illustrations on each page.
This charming board book does exactly what the title suggests--it gives little readers a peek, through a cutout, of what is coming next. But what is it? Well, it all rhymes with "ooo." Peek-a mew is a baby tiger. There's also a kangaroo, cockatoo, and bamboo being munched by a panda. The final page has a mirror for peek-a you! This is clearly aimed at the target audience with child-sized sturdy pages and bold patterned illustrations. Toddlers will enjoy it most with an adult, which is why I didn't give it more stars. The big value of peek-a-boo is that it's played with another person, not a book. Read it TO your child and it merits a higher rating.
My son is 1-1/2 years old and loves the game peek-a-boo, so he immediately took to this book. It was also short enough that it kept his attention. The size was perfect for his little hands when he wanted to try holding it himself.
I wasn't sure my almost 4-year-old daughter would enjoy it but she did. Did Mom like the book? Find out at the Reading Tub.
Nina Laden's "Peek-a-Zoo!" is a cute, colorful board book very suitable for young children. It is fun to have kids guess what the next animal is before turning the page. The book is also well-constructed and suitable for younger children who can be a little harder on their books. It is also the perfect size for little hands. I would definitely recommend this book for young children.
Satisfyingly cute. Spreads are set up with die-cut peeks at the animal that will be revealed on the next page. All of the words rhyme with zoo and some interesting animals are included (i.e. cockatoo).
Great read aloud title for babies and toddlers. Also consider giving as a gift book.
Thank you to Goodreads First Reads for a copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this book. It was simple and easy to read. I am looking forward to possibly bringing it babysitting and reading it to my own kids someday.
The simple rhyming text in this board book encourages readers to come up with rhyming words that fit the clues for whatever is hiding on the next page. only a small portion of the illustration is revealed in each differently-placed die-cut.
Peek-A-Who has steadily become one of my daughter's favorite books, so when my nephew saw a sequel by the same author had come out, he snatched it up for our pleasure (he's 6 going on 7 by the way). Peek-A-Zoo offers much of the same fun, just animal-themed. And of course, my daughter loves it.
Cute little book. After a couple of times going thru; grandson started reading it to me. He really likes the peeka boo set up. Recomend for toddlers and younger
This novel was tremendous. It kept me wondering what was going to be on the next page. It had wonderful writing, and top notch illustrating. This book was the best 40 seconds of my life.
Great book! Fabulous colors, cut outs, and the mirror at the end keeps the little ones giggling and wanting to look at it again and again. Definitely a favorite in our group of childrens books.
