I liked it but I wasn't wowed. I love the friends to lovers trope but this book is too short to really get into the nitty-gritty of Bella and Holt's relationship. The sex, though, was smoking.

Definitely recommended for those who are looking for some short, hot read!

I agree, Ms. York. . . Holt is smoking! And very kinky. Which is always a plus.

I don’t normally stumble on a sexy book, began reading, and then realize it’s BDSM fiction. It was a happy surprise that this book turned out to be deliciously kinky. However, I do wish I’d realized it was part of a series before I requested it. I’m anal enough to hate starting in the middle of a series, even if each individual novel is a stand-alone, so prepare yourselves to see more reviews from the Tryst Island series from me! I’m interested in finding out how the first two compare to Smoking Holt.

I felt an instant connection with Bella, and a prompt attraction to Holt. The plot isn’t terribly complex and it can be a tad bit predictable, but it’s enjoyable nonetheless. The only thing that bugged me is the no closure I felt towards Bella and Kristie’s relationship. As they’ve both found they’re happily-ever-afters, it seems like the author should have addressed how their relationship is doing before ending the story. Whatever complaints I have about the siblings, I enjoyed this book. I predict a new favorite author in my future!

Every conversation, every interaction with Bella was like a battle for domination. It stood to reason making love with her would be the same.

Holt provided substantial evidence that my theory about doms being part devil and part sex god. Bella spent sixty percent of this novel thinking up clever ways to castrate Holt in his sleep. The man is freaking scary when he comes up with unique ways to torture his bratty sub. It’s exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. At the same time, Holt has his own insecurities about whether Bella is just in it for the sex, or if she’d be open to a monogamous relationship with him. It’s nice to see doms can be human, too. They fuck up, they get angry, and they have their own insecurities. Sabrina York did a great job of relaying that message. Congrats, I am now obsessed.

There’s just something so hot about a bratty sub. Not the "let’s-stir-up-drama-and-fuck-up-other-people’s-relationships" type of bratty sub, but the kind that has an attitude and enjoys letting people see it There is nothing more unattractive than a doormat. Thankfully, Bella is the completely opposite of a doormat. She was absolutely fun to read about.

She was good at being a brat. She kind of liked that he was encouraging it.

I loved loved loved this book. I recommend this book to anyone interest in happily-ever-afters with a side of whips, floggers, and insertable eggs.

This is the first book by this author I've ever read; book was well written and hot, but the H's manho past was so in my face that it was difficult for me not to DNF ( not a fan of manhos!!) H knew the h for years and while she wanted him ( and H wanted her) she had to see him going through so many women, a new women every week, sometimes as many as five women at a time, H even kissed h's sister when he was drunk; in his POV H describes himself as "“the heartless Dominant who went through women like condoms in a whorehouse" - not very appealing
The sad thing is the H is probably the best guy the h ever dated. All the other guys she's been with have been jerks and users, not very good judgement shown by h. I hate it when authors write like this - H enjoying himself having a sexual free-for-all for years, right in front of pining h who has terrible sex and worse relationships. At least the h wasn't celibate though in this case that might have been better:(

Thankfully it was a short read. 2 stars.

I have to be honest to not being that fired up to read Bella's story. I was intrigued by Holt in book 1, but Bella seemed a little immature and bratty in book 1, and downright mean and selfish in book 2.

This is probably the most erotic in the series so far.

When Bella sneaks away to the shared beach house early, without telling anyone she is going, sparks fly when Holt also turns up, and catches her half drunk on whiskey and feeling sorry for herself.

I really liked Holt, as I say, he had intrigued me most from book 1.

Bella, I did warm up to her toward the end, when she started to lower her defences and was less abrasive.

However, as with book 2, something was missing. The author can pack a lot into a small number of pages, but, for me, it needed something more of Bella, why she felt the need to rebel so much, why she had up huge brick walls protecting herself, why she was like she was, to truly understand her, and for me to really warm to her and love her as a character after not really liking her too much in book 1 and 2.

Wow! This book was titled correctly 'cause I'm sure my Kindle is "Smoking" about now! While Bella wasn't my fav character, I did enjoy her & Holt's story, or maybe I'm just partial to Holt!. I highly recommend this series!

Holy Holt! This book is sizzling! Smoking Holt is the 3rd book in the Tryst Island series by Sabrina York and the hottest one, yet. I am a huge fan of this series and this book definitely did not disappoint.

The Tryst Island series is set up around a group of college friends. 2 of the friends own a big beautiful house on the Island; the others all share the utilities and living expenses. The house is used as a getaway whenever an individual or the group wants to escape life and it's demands or just have a great fun filled weekend.

Bella Cross has had a thing for Holt Lamm for as far back as she can remember. A thing she would never act on. Holt is pretty famous for his sexual appetite and his role in the dom/sub community. Sure Bella owns a sex toy shop, but that is pretty much her F*** you to her preacher daddy. She doesn't mind being a little adventurous, but she could never just give herself over. She's spent her whole life being the rebel girl and that's not going to change for a smoking hot guy that she can't get out of her mind.

Holt Lamm has arrived early at the Island home that he shares with his friends and can't believe his luck or his bad luck. Bella has beat him there and no one else is due to arrive anytime soon. He's always had an attraction to Bella, but she's never liked him. When he sees that she's clearly already upset he decides there is no reason to not test the waters.

The story of Holt and Bella is so different than most Dom/sub books I've read. I've often read that the sub has all the power and I'm sure that's true, but it's never been as clearly conveyed as it is in this book. Ms. York does a great job at portraying the truly beautiful and trusting relationship that this type of arrangement requires.

Bella is not necessarily a likable character for me. In the previous books I found her spoiled and rude. It may be because I don't understand her anger or the "poor me attitude" that she feels gives her the right to take it out on others, but Ms. York did the impossible and made me root for her in this book. I absolutely loved Holt. He's flawed and demanding and stubborn, but he's so patient and loving with Bella.

So, Sabrina York needs to simply do one thing. Cut. It. Out. I thought I had found my favorite pairing in the Tryst Island series in Dylan and Cassie from Dragonfly Kisses. But NO. She had to go and give us Bree and Holt. Bree who already was kind of a sentimental favorite with her devil-may-care façade and Holt’s bad boy alpha thing all wrapped up in leathers.

But, authors do what they do, and Sabrina York decided that I couldn’t be complacent or content with choosing a favorite, I needed conflict. But, we still have to help Bree confront her fall off the vegan wagon with a bacon bacchanalia, her secret smoking addiction and her crankies about stealing away to the beach house the group of friends share for some extra time – alone. Unfortunately, Holt has exactly the same idea, and they now have two illicit and secret days to indulge or bicker.

Fortunately they do a bit of both: since they had covered their attraction by abrasive commentary and dismissive words, neither acknowledged the palpable chemistry between the two of them. Holt has always kept women at arm’s length – needing more but unwilling to press the advantage with the revolving parade of women he had on speed dial. Bree is the younger sister, and slightly jealous of the ease with which her sister seems to move through life. Tattooed and rebellious, Bree uses her façade to keep others at a distance, while she secretly laments not having a take charge strong man in her corner.

When the two stop talking and start acting they enter some scenes that will scorch your ereader and leave you attempting to visualize the scenes detailed. Trust me – you will. Perhaps even quote a piece or two for “effect”. As always, there are characters that you can enjoy and empathize with since they have traits and insecurities that we all share or understand. While one might never expect Holt and Bree to have a completely smooth road, they are well on their way, and after years of miscommunications they have learned how to talk to one another, sharing worries and concerns and most of all, love.

Smoking Holt is book three in the Tryst Island series by Sabrina York. Tryst Island tells the story of a group of friends that share a vacation house on Tryst Island, a remote town accessed only by ferry. We first met Holt and Bella in the first Tryst Island book, Rebound. Holt was drunkenly kissing Bella’s older sister, while Krista was trying to hook up with one of the other housemates, Cam. Readers already got the impression that Bella had feelings for Holt in this book, along with nagging hostility from Bella toward her sister. Rebound was always one of my favorite Sabrina York books... Move over Rebound!

Smoking Holt is, well... SMOKING! I started reading it in the car rider line at school, waiting to pick up my kids, but I was kind of scared a teacher or principle was going to come and confiscate my Kindle. I can’t imagine what kind of catastrophe that would be. I actually felt a little guilty for reading it on school property. Yeah, it is that good!!

Holt Lamm is a Dominate, and he knows what he is doing. Bella is insistent that she is not submissive, nor interested in the lifestyle. I absolutely love Holt’s explanation of BDSM and the lifestyle. Here are a couple of my favorite quotes.

“And for your information, my lifestyle isn’t about bullying women. It isn’t about bullying anyone. It’s about two people exploring their sexuality from different angles. Experimenting with different roles. Finding where they meet and match and merge...”

“But you prefer submissive women.” “No. I prefer women who are open to exploration.”

One of my favorite types of books are where you get the point of view from both the male and female characters, and you get that here. It is a short story that takes place over a few days time. But you do get a happy for now ending. I’m sure there will be more of these characters, with the next Tryst Island book. I give this one Five Stars!

Smoking Holt is the third book in the Tryst Island series, and it was really good! Basically a group of friends bought the beach house and a ferry ride is required to reach the island and the house. The first two books were about different couples getting together and this third book is about Holt and Bella, Kristi's sister from book one. Bella is a very insecure woman although she would never let anyone know that about her (after all she has a sex shop in the city!) and Holt-well let's just say Holt is smoking hot. Bella has secretly been attracted to him for years and would never let him know it - he was always in one situation or another with other women, Bella even saw him trying to kiss her sister one night, and even though her sister did not want him it still bothered Bella, so practically ignoring him and always showing him how disgusted she is with him and his lifestyle she just suffers in silence.

One day Bella arrives early to the island and sits outside, drinking and smoking one cigarette after another, feeling blue, but little does she know she is about to get a visit from Holt. Holt is a very good looking self assured man, sure of his place in the world and takes what he wants. However the one thing he wants he can't have-Bella; he aches to obtain her and just knows she would be a perfect submissive.

Holt arrives at the island and much to his delight he sees Bella outside, but is shocked that she is smoking as she NEVER smokes on the island, and she looks drunk to him also, so he goes out there! He wants Bella and now is his best chance to get her! What follows is a night of sex and hijinks of the best kind!

Will Bella and Holt become a couple, and will Bella accept Holt for the man he is? Is this a one weekend fling or is it love? You will have to read it to find out!

Sabrina York has given us another great read in Smoking Holt! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have and I look forward to the next books in this series, Heart of Ash Book 4, Devlin's Dare, Book 5, and Parker's Passion Book 6!!

Smoking Holt is the third book in the Tryst Island series and introduces us to Bella and Holt. Bella has always been attracted to Holt but could never do anything about it. Holt is the playboy type and his ideas of fun have kept Bella at bay. Bella's business is failing and she has no love life. Feeling low and bitter, she seeks refuge on Tryst Island where she is sure of being alone but is shocked to see Holt who
has arrived early. What starts as normal talk leads to the eventual baring of souls with some very sensuous scenarios.

I had loved the first book in the series, Rebound and cant say that I didn't enjoy this book too. An easy and a quick read, Smoking Holt is a characteristic Sabrina York novel with extremely hot scenes and very believable characters. The only glitch that I felt was that the protagonists didn't finally have a happily ever after like Kristi and Cam had in Rebound. I was left wanting more and didn't get that satisfaction that I get when my heroes and heroines finally find their happy ending.

Apart from this, Smoking Holt is an admirable work from Sabrina and sure to engage and entertain you. It surely kept me hooked and totally engrossed. :)

Although part of a series, it can be read as a standalone story like I read it. But it is always better to read a series in order. A 3.8 out of 5 to it and a strong recommendation to read this book as well as the series both of which have been highly acclaimed by readers.

I will surely check out the other books in the series and also read the skipped second book in this series, Dragonfly Kisses.

This series is a romance erotica and so suitable for readers above 18 years of age.

5 Flames for Hotness!!!


This book was a quick steamy and fun read. Holt Lamm is a hottie Alpha Male. Bella Cross is down on herself and Holt saves the day. They have known each other a long time and denied their attraction to each other… Well no more. They are a hot couple. This book does not lack in the hotness department what so ever. Have I mentioned how hot this book is? Yes at least a few times.

Things move very quickly in this book and I love that. No wasting time they get to the nitty-gritty. You still get to feel their love develop because of a sweet epilogue. I loved Ash the neighbor and I see he has a story in which I am going to read.

This is a series of books but you can read them as stand-alones. This is my first Sabrina York book and will not be my last. I downloaded the rest of the story and will get busy with them as soon as I am done with this review. I highly recommend this sweet and sexy read.

WOW! I thought the first two books in the Tryst Island series were HOT but I do believe Smoking Holt is the HOTTEST book so far. When I say HOT I mean Bella & Holt are sizzling!

Bella has a lot of issues, she has personal self esteem issues, she has family issues, and she has issues with her business. The woman has a lot of her mind and she is certainly in desperate need of a distraction. Holt the hot guy she has been crushing on forever, just happens to find her rather hot as well. Holt is the perfect distraction for Bella. When these two finally get together, look out, stand back, and remove the flammable items because they are smoking hot together.

Sabrina York has done a fabulous job yet again writing a steamy, fun, sexy, quick read.

I can not wait to see what she has in store for the next book in the series. I am sure it will be a steamy read. If you are looking for a fun steamy series, you really should check out the Tryst Island series. I don't think you would have any problem reading any of the books in the series as a stand alone. So if you are looking for a HOT read, why not start with this Smoking Holt?

I love series stories because I get to meet up with old friends again. In Smoking Holt I got a glimpse of the couples from the other books in the series. It's always nice to see old friends again. I think that is another thing I love about this series is that we have already met so many of the friends it is fun to watch them get their turn at love.

“Smoking Holt” by Sabrina York is the story of Bella Cross who has come to Tryst Island a little early to wallow in her sorrows about her business and her love life. Little does she expect the sexy Holt Lamm to intrude on her pity party but he definitely manages to distract her and threatens to change her opinion of the D/s lifestyle that Holt is fond of. The question is, how much is she willing to change and what is she going to do about the mess her life is in?


This erotic contemporary novella provides a wonderful glimpse of a relationship that has been percolating between two stubborn people who finally work their way past preconceived notions about one another. The sizzling encounters between the two provides a very sensual read as Holt helps Bella explore the allure of BDSM and the story is lightened by occasional humorous elements even as it reminds the reader of the various ways that one can be one’s worst enemy by reacting to real or imagined slights. A fun spicy and quick read.

Holt he's always willing to lend Bella a helping hand when it comes to her nasty smoking habit, "a tiny smile quirked on his handsome face. "If you didn't hate my guts so much, I'd be tempted to give you something else to fixate on." The boy is an animal, "she nipped him. Just a gentle nip to his lower lip. And his vision went red. He didn't mean to growl. He didn't mean to go all feral and wrench her chair in a metallic squeal of protest. He didn't mean to scoop her up into his arms and hold her luscious form hard against his body while he consumed her." Bella she knows when to put her foot down on things, "and no effing whips and chains." He chuckled. Incensed by his mocking tone, she fisted his hair and yanked. "And no goddamn nipple clamps." I mean he really does try to help Bella out with her habit, "I know it won't be easy, but sweetheart if you ever want a cigarette, just let me know." He bit back a grin. "I'd be happy to give you something else to suck on." I really do love reading about this series of friends.

I'm a big fan of Tryst Island series and been waiting for Holt and Bella's story! The story is short, steamy and easy to read!

I'm not a big fan of bdsm and glad it was just a soft bdsm-kinky! The sex scenes are nicely done.. scratch that.. It was HOT! I like the part when Bella and Holt was doing the thing and Bella ordering Holt around. hehe.. I want my own HOLT damn it!

4.5 stars for me! I just wish it was longer and has a lil more drama.. but overall this was worth the wait!!!

A steamy story with humor in it? How can you go wrong with that?

Now I can't wait for the next book.. I want Lane story!! Pretty please!

Holy Smoking Holt! Talk about hot! There is no other description for Tryst Island's 3rd book, Smoking Holt, by Sabrina York but totally, utterly hot!

Tryst Island series is based on a group of friends from college that share a beach house on the island. They use the house as a getaway, escaping reality or family or bad work weeks, to relax and unwind. Smoking Holt tells Holt and Bella's story. Holt is an architect and a dom in the BDSM world. Bella (don't even think of Twilight) is rebellious, owning an adult toy store, but doesn't dabble in her own goods.

Holt can have any woman he desires but it seems there is only one that has the leading role in his fantasies. Bella has dreamed of Holt for quite some time, but has given up on that ever happening. These two can't seem to stand each other, always arguing or showing distaste towards the other... Or can they?

The third book in this series is another hit. Bella's had a crush on Holt for a while now. But Holt always has a different girl and his tastes are not what Bella is comfortable with. She doesn't want to be anyone's "pet". Not to mention the fact that Bella thinks Holt hates her. Imagine her surprise when Holt shows up at the beach house when Bella was planning on a few days alone. Holt can't believe his luck that the one girl he wants, who incidentally doesn't like him, is at the beach house when he arrives. After talking they soon realize they misunderstood each other's feelings and are attracted to each other. One night turns into much more between Bella and Holt.

A short kinky read. This is the third in the Tryst Island Series, it can be read alone but as there isn’t has much background info that was covered in the other. I recommend reading them all. Bella has had a crush on Holt since her collage days and has had to watch him go through a string of different woman, including her sister. Then he catches her smoking and offers her something else to suck on instead.
Great read the characters are wonderful and I enjoyed the story line and the connection between these two is hot. The way they are able to explore and share is wonderful and I am looking forward to reading more in this series.

Smoking Holt is Smoking Hot!

I love this series and it just keeps getting better and better! Holt is a Dom and is known among his group of friends for going through women rather quickly. Bella wants Holt but doesn’t want to be among the throng and doesn’t see herself as a submissive so she falls on the defense mechanism of snark. Can Holt break through her walls? And who will submit to whom? We saw some of the groundwork for Smoking Holt in Rebound but really the book can stand on its own if you haven’t read the earlier ones. I recommend them all.

How can we not love mixed up Bella with her walls build of brick? She is wonderfully snarky and bossy and appears to have a the hide of a rhinoceros. Until steamy Holt finally gets the chance to tear those walls down. A beautiful story of a couple who has known each other for years, but thought the other didn't like them. This is the story of them finding each other and discovering they were meant for the other. What a fabulous journey with the HOTTEST game of eight ball I have ever heard of! Sizzling! I want to play! I liked these 2 from book 1, they just seemed right for each other. It was fun watching Holt push Bella’s buttons and her sexual appetite…I mean she owns a sex shop, its funny how little she actually knows besides the basics! The only thing I wish this and all the other books had were epilogues (I know this one had one sort of but I would love a real one) since they show up in other books but not in a large way. It would be nice to know their lives down the road…or make the final book in the series a bunch of shorts with their lives out x amount of years!

Another good one in this series

These are such fun, sexy, and emotional books. The story line keeps you hooked all the way through. I can not wait to read the rest of the series.
