Wild Widows #3

Someone to Love

Rate this book
She’s his nanny and his close friend. He shouldn’t be thinking about her that way… Adrian In the year since I lost my wife in childbirth, I’ve been all about survival as I adapt to life as a single dad to our son. That’s especially true after my mother-in-law also died suddenly. Life has been way more than I can handle, but somehow I’m getting by, thanks mostly to the Wild Widows, a group of fellow travelers who make me feel less alone with my grief. They encourage me to hire fellow Wild Widow Wynter as my nanny, and that’s been working out great, until two things happen—she and my son go missing, and when they’re found safe, I realize my feelings for her are anything but platonic. Wynter I cannot be feeling this way about my employer. He’s entrusted me to take care of the most important person in his life, and I nearly screwed that up epically. After the big scare we had, I should be giving Xavier my undivided attention, which I do until his daddy is in the room. All I see is him. Then I catch Adrian having sex, and now all I can think about what it would be like to be with him that way. He’s my boss, my close friend and we share many mutual friends. A mess between us would be devastating, and not just to us, so I need to avoid that at all costs. I’ve got enough on my plate managing my grief for my late husband. I don’t need the complication that could come with Adrian. If only I hadn’t seen him naked…

Excellent series.

Marie Force has just nailed this Wild Widow series. As a widow myself I totally mean this. I literally asked myself yesterday was I prepared to cry for two days to read this book? The answer was yes. Book 2 left with a cliff hanger that Wynter, new to being Adrian’s nanny for Xavier wasn’t answering her phone while Adrian worked on not panicking.

Adrian’s wife died in childbirth. A very rare happening. It’s been just shy of a year. Wynter’s husband died a year ago today as the story starts. Wynter and Xavier are at the cemetery in front of Justin’s grave. Not a place she wants to be but feels she should be there. Unfortunately it is rainy, they are on a small hill when Wynter falls. Careful to protect Xavier in the fall her phone flies out of her pocket. All is well, Xavier is fine, Wynter has some bruises and she isn’t getting fired.

Adrian gets a Saturday night gig as a bartender for some extra cash. Wynter stays over those nights. She hears a noise in the middle of the night, concerned someone broke in she catches Adrian on the couch with a woman having sex. Of course, Wynter is shocked and things she hasn’t thought about come back to life. Xavier picks the perfect moment to cry. Wynter later confesses what she saw, and was a little star stuck. While Wynter is only 21 she is an old soul. Adrian is 28 and sees Wynter as a woman first, nanny second. These two starting a relationship has a few danger signs. The adore each other bc of their meeting in the Wild Widows group. That friendship is very important to them. Wynter is very attached to Xavier as he is to his Wyn. It is mentioned but fortunately don’t make a big deal out of it, Adrian is black and Wynter is white so all the interracial things.

Wynter meets with her mother-in-law for lunch and gets two big surprises. Iris and Gage have a thing, Lexi moves out of her parents house in with a roommate. A new relationship for one has a jaw dropper before it even begins. I have heard the next member of the Wild Widows is Sam’s sister from the First Family Series.

I highlighted several passages that I am so appreciate for. It is like someone crawled into my brain for my thoughts. I will say, I hate the word anniversary now. Anniversaries are joyful and happy. This month is the 7th “anniversary” of my husbands passing. Anniversary is not the word to use. Like Xavier whose mother died the day he was born, my husband died on our oldest son’s birthday. It has taken years for that day to return to my son not my husband. Instead we celebrate my husbands birthday, thrilled he came into this world to be ours.

This is the third book in the author’s Wild Widow’s Club series. It can easily be read as a standalone as Ms. Force does a more than fair job of revealing enough information contained in the two previous books as to not leave the reader feeling behind the curve in understanding the founding of the club, its purpose and a little about its members. In truth this book feels like with so much time spent with the entire Wild Widows Club it is as much about the club and serves as a primer or guide book for under fifty year old widows as it is a romance. Besides frequent pages of the clubs meetings there are entire chapters dedicated to the romantic lives of other club members.
Adrian and Wynter are two totally different kinds of people. Adrian is in his late twenties, college educated and a single dad and an African American. Wynter is twenty-one, white, has her hair shaved off on one side of her head and has multiple facial piercings. They have two things in common. They both lost their beloved spouses Jayden and Sadie about a year ago. They both see Adrian’s son Xavier as their reason to continue to get out of bed and keep trying to move forward. Adrian lost his wife Sadie from complications from childbirth. Shortly after he also lost his mother-in-law Alyssa who had helped him get through those early days as a widower and father of a newborn. Wynter at 21 years old is the youngest member of the Wild Widows club. She lost her husband Jayden whom she’d been with since her freshman year of high school (and married shortly before his death) to 2 year battle with bone cancer. Wynter had been a troubled teenager heading down a fairly self-destructive road when she met her husband to be who became her guiding light. After his death Wynter fell into deep depression until her mother forced her to attend a Wild Widows Club meeting. There she was introduced to Adrian and infant son Xavier along with the other Wild Widows Club members. She eventually became friends with Adrian and offered to become Xavier’s nanny. She now loves him as her own. Adrian and Wynter despite their very obvious differences find themselves attracted to one another which is accompanied by feelings of guilt. How can they love and miss their deceased spouses so much and yet still be having these feelings towards someone else? This is a common and oft repeated theme for all the members of the club who have found happiness in the arms of someone new. Add to this is the complication that they are friends and Wynter is Adrian’s employee as a nanny. If they try to be a couple and things go badly it could affect their relationship, the group dynamic of the Wild Widows Club whom are their closest friends and Adrian will lose Xavier’s nanny and Wynter will lose the daily contact with the baby that makes her life worth living.
I enjoyed this book but as a devoted fan of Marie Force I wanted to enjoy it more than I actually did. I enjoyed how Force included so many of the clubs members as secondary characters. Iris one of the club’s co-founders was such a big part of this story she could hardly be considered a secondary character. Which is fine because I’ve loved Iris from the start of the series. I did enjoy the close relationship dynamic of the group. But as I said the constant repetition of the club members expressing how much they loved and appreciated each other, how they needed their support to get through the loss of their previous spouse got redundant. So too did Wynter’s constantly stating how much she loved Xavier. I know that sounds harsh and cold but after seemingly the hundredth time, it really seemed excessive to me. Even the issue that threatened to tank Wynter’s and Adrian’s new relationship was very similar to the one that nearly tanked Iris’s and Gage’s in the second book in the series. And if I’m being totally honest every time someone remarked how pretty or sexy Wynter was and I thought of her partially shaved head and facial piercings I winced. I don’t care how naturally beautiful she was supposed to be, or how rocking her body was the shaved head and facial piercings were a definite turnoff for this male reader. That’s just me but it is my review after all. Ultimately it was the repetitive expressions of the same emotions by all the characters that took away some of my enjoyment of this book.

Wynter and Adrien’s book! Okay, I love this series so much, and I look forward to each couple more than the next, but there’s been something about Wynter since the 20 year old widow walked onto the page, I’ve wanted to just hug her (ever though she would probably tell me to F off), then offer her coffee and cookies.

And Adrien, seriously, losing your wife in childbirth, that’s a lot. He’s been grieving and dealing with single daddy-hood, IYKYK.

So these Wild Widows, this group who support each other through their grief and building their lives back up, they can be irreverent and blunt, they know no boundaries and say what you need to hear, but they’re always there for each other and whether you need someone to hold your hand while you deal with a new situation, listen while you cry or help you move, this group is always there for each other. They truly are the best worst group you never want to join.

Another Wild Widows saga

I am enjoying this series it’s so insightful to the lives of people that experience such loss early in their marriages. The pain and the joy you feel in reading this series is so hopeful through such intense situations.

The Wild Widow series. This series is heartbreaking and uplifting all at the same time.

“The anniversaries suck. They’ll continue to suck forever. The sooner you realize that, the less power they have over you.”

This couple goes through it and in the end they find their HEA!!

Doesn’t Ring Plausible for Me

While I actually grew to like Wynter in this book where I did not before because I just didn’t have an appreciation for her foul mouth, the whole story does not ring true for me.

SPOILERS - stop reading if spoilers bother you

There’s no way that when you are into someone watching them have sex with someone else is a turn on. Not unless you’re into swinging and swapping. The whole idea of having your dead spouses child after their death while you are involved with a new guy is also a non-starter for me. Because of all this, which to me feels weird this is my least favorite book by this author and I’ve read dozens.

At the end of the last book, we saw Adrian as he's panicking because he can't reach Wynter and Xavier is with her.

As this book opens, we see Wynter as she visits her late husband Jaden's grave. It's the first anniversary of his death and she's reflecting on how she feels. Her love for Adrian's son Xavier, who's strapped to her chest is what keeps her going. Being here doesn't accomplish any type of closure for her. There's a misting rain as she leaves, making the way down treacherous resulting in her falling and landing in a ditch without her cellphone.

When Wynter's mother calls Adrian, it's the first real clue as to where she might be. Neither Iris or Gage knew this was the anniversary of Jaden's death and that she might go to the cemetery. Following the ringing cellphone, they find her and Xavier. Xavier seems fine, but Wynter is injured.

Wynter fears Adrian will fire her, she failed to keep Xavier totally safe, and he couldn't reach them by phone.

We learn what happened to Adrian's wife Sadie, and consequently his Mother-in-law Alyssa. The impact on Adrian's life and the grief is so achingly portrayed. He also felt the fear that he could have lost both Xavier and Wynter.

Iris and Gage take Wynter home with them to recuperate. Iris is going to fill in with Xavier, so they'll be together as well. As it happens the Wild Widows have a meeting that first night, and Wynter gets the answers she needs from Adrian. She'll allow him to track her phone in an emergency and she's also going to spend Saturday nights with Xavier so Adrian can pick up a bartending shift for extra income.

The meeting has more of Christy's relationship which has been stalled by him needing to think about the relationship which includes her teenage children. He's never been married or around that age group and now, after three weeks he wants to talk. Lexi is thinking of moving out of her parent's place and into an apartment owned by a high school crush of hers. Adrian brings up Xavier's birthday which is also the other anniversary. He's conflicted on how to celebrate a one-year-old.

I get quite the kick out of the reactions to Xavier's new words, and I adore the relationship with Wynter. Adrian has feelings there as does she but neither want to jeopardize the current status quo. However, the Saturday night addition also brings a new dynamic and one that leads to quite the change.

It all comes to light at Xavier's birthday party.

It becomes obvious these two are made for each other, but that doesn't mean it's going to be easy. In fact, for both of them things get complicated very quickly.

A lunch with Jaden's mother opens doors Wynter never knew existed. Doors that will make or break her relationship with Adrian.

I love the way this book plays out, Adrian and Wynter both struggle with emotions that are both painful and enlightening.

We also get a tantalizing hint of the next book which is Lexi's story. I can't wait!

Absolutely loved this fantastic read, you don’t want to miss out on Wynter and Adrian

Wow. I don’t even know where to start, but let me say that this whole book (and the entire series to date) is sweet, tender, sensitive, loving, accepting, wonderful, and yes, even sexy.
Someone to Love, A Single Dad, Nanny Romance (Wild Widows Book 3) by Marie Force took me through a difficult topic with two amazingly wonderful characters. While I have read the first two books in this series (it’s not necessary, though I highly recommend it) I have gotten to know about Wynter and Adrian, fell in love with them as individuals navigating their ‘after’. But together, these two just shine. Add in the cutest one year old and they are darn near perfect! I adored getting to see them evolve through their grief and work on finding happiness in whatever form is best for them.
Their story is super complicated but not hopeless. In fact, as each Wild Widows book has shown me, hope is the main ingredient to happiness in the ‘after’. Adrian and Wynter have multiple complications and conflicts to navigate. Even when things seem impossible to overcome, hope still exists, burning steadily toward a happy resolution for all.
Overall, if I could give this book 10 stars I would do it in a heartbeat. I preordered this book before I suffered my own loss recently (my dad) and I worried about how it would affect me. While I was sad with the characters, as I would have been before, I felt the abundant love, hope and determination to find happiness. I also feel like it reminded me I have hope of returning to some kind of previous version of myself. Allowed to feel happiness, excitement. And the HEA is spectacular! So happy, excited and thrilled for this promising pause in the Wild Widows series. I can’t wait for book 4! I love catching up with all the cataract ears as much as I love reading about the next widow finding their second chapter and HEA.

The Wild Widows are back with a story that is both beautiful and poignant.

With Adrian, a single dad and widower, and Wynter, the youngest member of the group, who lost her husband at the tender age of twenty, taking centre stage. And who has kindly offered to take over the role of Xavier's nanny.

As Adrian's wife, Sadie, died during childbirth and Adrian's mother-in-law, Alyssa, who looked after Xavier, passed away just a few months later.

Yet, Adrian has to be persuaded a lot to let the young sarcastic Wynter care for his son. But, he can't deny that she loves him and is the perfect person for the job.

Additionally, it's the only thing that is keeping Wynter going as she approaches the one-year anniversary of her husband Jayden's passing.

However, when Wynter goes missing with Xavier, Adrian is rightfully terrified. But there is a perfectly innocent explanation and the widows are on hand to help find and bring the pair home safely.

But it shakes them all and Wynter is terrified Adrian will stop her from caring for Xavier. Only he doesn't, and in the end it actually brings them closer together. As Adrian prepares to celebrate Xavier's first birthday and the anniversary of Sadie's death.

And as the pair spends more time together, their feelings grow and change. But soon the pair are confronted with a dilemma that could tear them apart after a meeting with Wynter's mother-in-law's changes everything.

Yet, the wild widows are on hand to provide sage advice, comfort, and laughter.

And this story was beautifully written. Not to mention it captivated me from the start and never let go. And with the perfect amount of heat, sweetness, and emotion, I was completely hooked and would happily recommend this story and series to all.

Furthermore, I'm eagerly awaiting Lexi's story and future ones, who I'm anticipating will eventually include Sam's sister Ang, who tragically lost her husband Spencer in State of Shock.

🎧AUDIO & eBOOK REVIEW📱

Someone to Love is the third book in the Wild Widows Series by Marie Force, featuring a riveting second act romance for Wynter and Adrian. They met in the Wild Widows grief group, where friends become family through shared experiences, and now she’s the nanny for his infant son. As they come to the one-year anniversaries of their losses, and they realize they both have feelings for the other, should they risk their friendship and the stability of the group to see if they can find love together?

Oh, my heart!! Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly love this series anymore than I already do, this book comes out and blows me away!! The impact of the emotional journeys for these characters defies explanation. Every story in this series has touched my soul, but Wynter and Adrian are extra special in their own way. I laughed, I cried, I loved, and I longed to hug these people. There were twists and turns I didn’t see coming, and the love and support of all the Wild Widows always kept it interesting and feeling like a safe place to feel all those feelings with them. I know many people shy away from emotional books about grief and such, but please give this series a chance!! You will not regret it!!

I listened to the audio version via BookFunnel. It was narrated by Janine Granda and Timothy Bell Reese, and they both were fabulous at conveying every emotion and nuance necessary, despite having such a large cast of characters. What a phenomenal listening experience!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

5 Star Review of Someone To Love (Wild Widows #3) by Marie Force

Audio Review:

After the emotional read of the first two books in the series I was looking forward to listening to Someone To Love and it did not disappoint. From the moment I started this book I knew I was in for a long night.

This is Wynter and Adrian’s emotional roller coaster of a read and one I couldn’t put down once I started. Their journey was a rocky one, full of ups and downs.

My emotions were all over the place whilst reading; there were times that I laughed and times that I was moved to tears. My heart went out to both Wynter and Adrian for everything they have been through, it just about broke my heart.

The narration by Jamine Granda and Timothy Bell Reese (both new to me) brought all the passion and drama of the story to lie for me and I am so glad that Ms. Force has decided to use a male narrator as well for this series.

I love Marie Force she and Nora Roberts can count on 5 stars from me because I love their writing and 98% of their books but as much as I hate to say it, for me, I just could never get into this book I did read the first one and liked it but did not read book 2. When I saw this on sale on Audible I was very excited but after completing it, I will not read any more in this series. I often listen to books as I get ready for sleep for a while and then shut them off as I fall asleep. If I miss some I go back to get the story I slept through. With this one, I may have slept through a lot of it but had no desire to go back and didn't. Was glad when it was finally over. Can't decide if it was the Audible readers that made everyone sound the same (have added their names to my no list won't ever buy a book they read again) or the stories themselves. Sorry Marie this one was just not for me.

This story, as with all Marie Force books, will make you feel and take you on an emotional journey while doing so!
The Wild Widows are amazing. Their reason is heartbreaking, but their reality, acceptance, and drive to still live and love has me captivated by their stories and rooting for them on each step of their path. The friendships they show each other and acceptance for a new normal is inspiring and entertaining. Laughing and crying is now my expectation when reading her books and I look forward to it!

This book touches base with many of the widows and new couples from books one and two, but the focus is on Adrian and Wynter. Between their spouse’s death, forays into being widowed, family conversations, their attraction to each other hopes for the future I couldn’t put the book down. The ending was beautiful and as always left me excited for the next book!

This series deals with a group of men and women who have lost their significant others to an illness and have form a group that meet regularly. In this third book Wynter is the nanny to Adrian young son. We met both characters in the previous books and I know I wonder how Ms. Force will write their book. The book starts off with Adrian looking for Wynter and his son Xavier. She wasn't answer her phone and he has no idea where they are. So begins this novel this story deal with Adrian and Wynter realizing their care for each other more than friends. Majority of the book deals with will they or wouldn't they cross the line and become more than friends. Marie continues to show in this series of individuals who have lost love but finding love in the most least expected way. We catch up with the couples from book one and two and we get a glimpse of the next book couple.

DNFing…besides the very repetitive nature of this book, I don’t feel the chemistry between these two characters. The whole FMC watching the MMC have sex with multiple random women thing doesn’t work for me. It’s not attractive and not romantic. I’m okay with it if I’m reading a book where it’s expected, but this doesn’t work. I mean she was touching his bare chest after he had just been screwing some rando and his thoughts about her after he just got off with someone else was gross. That’s just my personal feelings. Once the two main characters have feelings, which these two did, I don’t need one watching the other having sex with someone else.

I liked the whole premise of having a widows club in this series but part of the repetitive nature was hearing constantly how much all these people loved their dead spouses and how much they loved everyone in the group.

Marie Force does it again - an amazing emotional rollercoaster HEA!!!

The Wild Widows series is phenomenal if you want to read romance with the emotional twists of a romance after losing the "love of your life." The story of Adrian and Wynter captures you and, as always, Marie Force provides laughter while dealing with traumatic emotions as the characters deal with the conflicting emotions of a new love versus the guilt associated with that new love. The author, as always, has the romantic love but also emphasizes the role love plays with all of the other characters.

I recommend this book for anyone who loves a well written romance that will make you feel like you are part of the story!

When Adrien and Wynter met at a Wild Widows meeting, his first thought was how attracted he was to her, Wynter’s thought was the very idea of Wild Widows was insipid. It’s been a year of ups and downs and the rest of the widows were on her side when she asked to be nanny to Adrien’s son, Xavier, who was born just as his wife died.

Wynter has an accident when she’s out with Xavier, she’s terrified Adrien will fire her and she loves both Adrien and Xavier, Adrien realizes his feelings for Wynter are deep and he can’t separate her from Xavier. They both realize their feelings for each would get in the way of not only their working relationship but the wild widow dynamic as Jaden reaches out to Wynter from the grave.

it’s slow, it’s heavy.

this is not the one for young age, this is not the one looking for hot sex, cinderella story, i told u, sometime it’s too heavy for Sunday’s afternoon.

what if it happened to me, what if it happen someone i knew. my auntie was a young widow with four young kids, when we lost our uncle, the youngest cousin only two. she now in her early forties.

i don’t think i can handle it, i love iris and gage, it is true that they are the parents of the group, now we all knew next is lexi and sure, sam’s sister is on the list.

however, will consider keeping the series or not, since…..it’s too heavy

A great addition to the Wild Widows Series! Wynter lost her HS BF and husband, Jaden to bone cancer at 21. Adrian lost his wife Sadie to a rare complication during the birth of his son Xavier. Wynter is now Xavier's sitter. They are both so strong, yet so vulnerable from their devastating loses. First it was Adrian and Wynter's love for Xavier that kept them together. I enjoyed watching the "light bulb" moment when they each realized their attraction and affection for the other. An unlikely couple in so many ways, but the heart knows what it needs and wants. I look forward to Lexi's "Chapter 2" in the next book in the series.

I didn’t like this book as much as I thought I would. I liked the characters, but I didn’t love the storyline.

I never really felt the spark between Wyn and Adrian. I get that the books in this series are heavier and filled with grief and understanding loss, and how it affects relationships. I just never saw these two together, and it didn’t seem that they had much in common other than grief and a child that needed them.

Wyn was unsure about having a child, and then she just jumped in with both feet with no transition. The book just felt rushed and not written with the normal quality of this author. The premise was great, but I was just disappointed as it didn’t meet my expectations.

It’s surprising that I love this group so much because it’s truely a group you never want to be part of but that doesn’t stop you loving them. Someone to Love is Wynter and Adrian’s story and it’s the perfect addition to this wonderful series. From the moment I picked this book up I knew I was reading something very special and the fact this book stayed with me long after reading the last line on proved her special this story is. Wynter and Adrian touched me on so many levels but it’s this group that support you when needed, will hold your hand while you cry but who also say it as it is that take this series to another level. Can’t wait for what’s to come.

These stories just keep getting better. I love the way Marie writes and this story was so good. I loved Wynter in the previous books but we get to know more about her in this one and how hard she has after losing Jaden. Adrian has had a tough time but is the best daddy to Xavier. These two haev lost so much but they find a peace with each other which touches your heart. I love that we get chapters from some of the other members of the wild widows which really brings the stories to life. That ending though - i need the next book now!!! Loved it.

This review is for the audiobook version. Wonderful Series
I had so many feelings while listening to this story. Adrian and Wynter have been friends in the Wild Widows group and now she's his nanny. After losing their spouses, they are just getting to the point of seeing themselves in a relationship. They have their challenges with grief and fear of losing each other but the Wild Widows are there to help them. I like seeing the other couples, too. I can't wait for the next one. Janine Granda and Timothy Bell Reese were terrific narrators.

I enjoyed this book about Adrian, Winter, and Xavier. Adrian lost his wife after his son was born and needed a nanny. Winter lost her husband, Jaden after six years of marriage and is looking for something to do with her time. They work it out.

Winter is still in love with her husband, but she is getting used to Adrian. After she saw him having sex, she can't think about him except naked. She daydreams about him on a daily basis. Adrian is not really sure about Winter but he feels guilty that she saw him. They work it out from there.

Amazing story!

Adrian and Wynter's story was amazing. I absolutely love the Wild Widows group and the connection they all have to each other. The way they support one another is beautiful. These two characters have been through so much, and I really enjoyed how their relationship evolved. She was incredibly sweet with his son, and their attraction was strong from the start. I liked that they took their time with things, because they didn't want to mess things up between them. It was a beautiful story.

Another hit for Marie Force

Everything about the Wild Widows series had been promoting from the start. Once again, Marie has a hit on her hands. Things cannot be easy to these lovely people, but sparks fly despite being widowed approximately a year ago.

With Wynter being the nanny for his child, there are more complications. Thank goodness, they both decided to take the chance on true love once again.

What a great story, Marie. You make me laugh and cry and fill me with all sorts of emotions. Thanks!

Oh my goodness!,! 500 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

These stories evoke such strong emotions! These widows go through so much! I love how Marie Force really gets down to the nitty gritty feelings that widows face! I love how we see their intense pain, small gradual victories and the baby steps to move forward and start living again (in the after life). Can’t wait for next book! This series is the best one yet. I honestly didn’t think they could get better than the fatal series or first family series but they are!

Wow, fantastically amazing. Exceptionally and emotionally powerful. The storyline was quite capativing, compassionate, and so shockingly twisted.

This extraordinary author did an excellent job of creating a passionate community of a unlike friends, into a loving family, during their most difficult time. Although each individual had suffered a horrific and unspeakable lost of their partner, they were still so incredibly thoughtful, genuinely helpful, and unconditionally supportive! I love each person unique personalities and vivid storylines.

Wynter and Adrian stories were definitely inspirational. Their friendships were so uplifting and unpredictable.

Thank you, once again, Ms. Force, for an creating a strongly quality book that deals with such an intense and delicate yet sad topic. Highly recommended...😘
