Ned the rooster sleeps through the morning sunrise, and is fired from his job, and replaced by another rooster. Ned stays up late playing with the nocturnal animals, and when a snake approaches the hen house, Ned's cock a doodle-doo wakes everyone except the new rooster. Ned's quick thinking lands him a new job around the henhouse.
This is a cute book that teaches kids that it's okay to be different. Even though we are different doesn't mean that we are not useful. The Rooster in this story has difficulty doing is job...waking up the chickens in time to get the day started. They end up firing him basically because he stinks at his job. The rooster ends up saving all the chickens and is hired on as their night security. Kids love this book. There is humor, action and the pictures/illustrations draw kids in. I love how this book teaches kids that it's okay to be different and that everyone is not exactly the same. I was drawn in from the very beginning when a rooster who is know tho wake everyone up wasn't able to do it's job. The other chickens were furious with him. The text was most powerful for me when the rooster saved everyone. He was there hero. I will take with me after reading this book how proud not only the kids were for the rooster-I was as well. You wanted him to succeed. He tried so hard. I would definitely recommend this book to others because it's perfect for teaching children not to give up and we are all good at something and that is how I would use it in my classroom as well.
The Mixed Up Rooster is a story that teaches children that if you don't do things the way you should it doesn't mean that it's wrong. In the story Ned the Rooster doesn't crow at the time he should. Because he does not wake up. However, Ned does come out a hero in the end of the book because of the time he was awake. This is another humor-filled book that children up to maybe third grade will enjoy laughing at. The illustrations are bright and eye-catching which is perfect for the younger readers.
Ned is just not a morning rooster. He's more of a mid-afternoon or even late-night rooster. He'd rather play tag with the bats, sing with the frogs and play games with the rabbits. Well, Daisy Mae, head hen, fires him and he get the chance to do just that. But the new rooster that Daisy Mae hires is not a night rooster and therefore doesn't see the late-night danger until it's too late. No worries! Ned to the rescue! Because guess who's awake in the middle of the night?
Ned the rooster is not much of a morning bird and Daisy Mae worries that his lateness will ruin her egg business. So she hires another rooster while Ned leaves the hen house sulking. Ned is them cheered when he meets some nighttime friends to play with, but his happiness quickly fades when he sees the hens in the hen house may be in danger. Will he change his mixed-up ways to be accepted back amongst the hens and keep them safe?
This is about a roster who can’t wake up on time for his job. He’s just not a morning bird. He was fired and someone else was hired. A surprise crisis occurs, and the rooster does his calling and save everyone. This story is good to let students know that it is okay to be different.
This is a story about a rooster who somehow always stays up late and sleeps in, not doing his job and is fired. Eventually he is staying up late per usual and sees a snake coming towards the hens and manages to raise the alert. The hens rehire him as the night guard.
The Mixed-Up Rooster, by Pamela Duncan Edwards is about rooster named Ned. Ned was a rooster that over slept every morning because he tended to stay out late hanging with his other animal friends. Because most roosters tend to wake up at the crack dawn in order to wake up everyone else the head rooster was always getting mad at Ned until one day she fired him. Then one night when a snake tried to attack the rooster’s eggs Ned was up to fight off the snake and all the other roosters praised him. The head rooster was then able to realize that Ned was actually very useful just not in the way that was originally intended. The major theme of tis story is that everyone has something different to offer and bring to the table, even if at first they seem to just not care. I would give this book a 4-star rating. I personally thought this was a good because it was able to point out that everyone has something different to offer and bring to the table. Throughout life I have always tried to look at the positive and people and this book is just a great reminder that their can be good in everyone. I recommend this book because you would be able to discuss with the class that everyone has something different that they may like to do or be good at, then can help other people. This can lead into getting the kids to think about what they like/are good at in life.
