Gosho Aoyama (青山剛昌) is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known as the creator of the manga series Detective Conan (known in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom as Case Closed).
Aoyama made his debut as a manga artist with the work Chotto Matte which was published in the weekly magazine Shōnen Sunday on winter of 1987. Shortly after that, another work by Aoyama, Magic Kaito, was published on the same magazine.
I’m thrilled that we're finally seeing more intrigue and development in Ai’s arc! The suspense surrounding Bourbon’s identity has me on the edge of my seat. I have suspicions but I won’t spoil anything here. While I appreciate the progress in the storyline, I can’t help but feel it's starting to drag a bit. I'm hoping for a resolution in the next volumes.
quick review: Conan is a fan of Sherlock Holmes, I'm a fan of Conan. This is another strong entry in the Case Closed / Detective Conan line up and a nice pick up and read book if you want to just relax for a few hours.
full review: It's amazing how, even after 76 other books, Gosho is still coming up with unique and interesting concepts for murder mysteries. There are three independent stories, plus the conclusion of the last story in the previous instalment packed into around 200 pages of pure enjoyment. This book sees the return of various supporting fan favourites such as Takagi, Sato, Anita, Subaru and more. With a great character line up comes some fun stories which are a joy to get stuck into. Personal standout characters in this book are Anita, who is always involved in interesting storylines, and Takagi who gets to really show off why he is a good police officer and not just a comic relief character.
This volume opens up with the conclusion to the cliffhanging adventure of the two detective love birds....and I must say it was a satisfying ending. It made me wish it was in volume 76, in which I might have had to give that total book a 5 star rating! The next case involves a tabloid publisher, who literally by that profession, is a very unpopular and unloved man. Add in some shady dealings (which seems synonymous with being a tabloid publisher) makes figuring out who did him in tough. Good solid story. The next story harkens back to Detective Conan's dad...being stumped on a murder. When the kanji "death" is left at the scene of the crime screams the return of a serial killer...it catches everyone's attention. The next case involves the Junior Detectives as they witness a body being buried in the forest! This is a cliff-hanger story and while the case appears to be solved...more looming questions are itching to be asked and answered in volume 78 of Case Closed!
The intrigue builds over the Sera / Suburu / Amuro connections. It appears they are piecing together Haibera and Shinichi's secret, separately, and it appears they have animosity with each other, as if they recognize each other and avoiding conflicts. This subplot seems to run though all the stories. First, the conclusion of the Tagaki kidnapping. Then, a publisher falls to his death, and the three suspects seem to have alibis, but one of them is lying. Next, Ran, Serina and Sera find a dead body with a kanji symbol next to him that reminds Conan of a case his father consulted on but seemed to not publicly solve. Finally, in another tumultuous attempt to go camping, the detective boys get caught up in someone burying a corpse, which eventually leads to an adult Haibara!!!
Oh damn, keren... JIlid yang bikin gemes banget...
Aaaaaaa Subaru.
The sad thing about finally catching up to the releases of this manga is that I missed the mystery of who is who and already know from other media—the movies and anime. I would’ve loved to have sussed out who was Bourbon and who was not. A bit sadly, I already know, but it does allow me a Cheshire Cat inspired grin because I know; so it’s not all bad.
General Synopsis: As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻
DO NOT click on the spoiler link if you don't want to read all the cases in this volume, because it will ruin it for you. On the other hand, if you're a fan like me or are looking for a certain case (and please note, these are how I have set the cases), etc. click away, that's why it's there.
Another spoiler link, so don't click if you don't want to ruin this manga. I am going to include the characters introduced or as the series continues are in this volume. Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.
Characters in this volume:
Personal Opinion: #1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!
Takagi gets saved by Sato and she gives him a kiss. Conan helps book Ogino after he killed his boss. George, Mitch, Anita, and Amy almost die after a prank with lovers goes horribly wrong.

THE VANISHING TIME TRICK: THE PUBLISHING PRESIDENT’S FALL A shocking crime unfolds as multiple witnesses see the publishing company president plunge to his death from his condo. Conan and the police quickly deduce that the murderer must be someone inside the building who had just enough time to assault the victim and rush downstairs. However, the three main suspects— a cameraman, a magazine editor, and a writer—each have seemingly airtight alibis, as their beer froth, steaming coffee, and smoking cigarette suggest they hadn't left their spots for more than a few minutes. With Detective Takagi's experiments proving these indicators last only 7 to 8 minutes, Conan must dig deeper. Were these perfect alibis mere illusions, and could the real killer be hiding in plain sight?
THE CRYPTIC DEATH MESSAGE: A CASE REJECTED BY YUSAKU KUDO A casual day turns eerie when Ran, Sonoko, and Sera stumble upon a gruesome scene—a body surrounded by a crowd, with the kanji for "death" ominously written facing the victim. As they delve into the case, they are drawn back to an abandoned mystery once dismissed by Yusaku Kudo. When Conan, Ran, Sonoko, Sera, and Subaru analyze an old crime scene photo, they realize the "death" message in both cases appears identical. If the writing suggests foul play, why did Yusaku determine it wasn’t a murder? As the past and present cases intertwine, the answer may lie in a single overlooked detail.
TRAPPED IN FLAMES: THE CAMPING TRIP HORROR A peaceful camping trip takes a terrifying turn when Ayumi, Genta, Haibara, and Mitsuhiko witness a chilling sight—a shadowy figure burying a corpse deep in the woods. As panic sets in, Haibara alerts the police, and the kids flee, unknowingly seeking refuge in a dark cabin that once belonged to the murderer. Before they can escape, the culprit locks them inside and sets the cabin ablaze, determined to silence them forever. Meanwhile, Inspector Yamamura identifies three suspects near the scene. The only clue? The victim’s dying message—her fingers frozen in an odd position behind her back. As time runs out, Conan must decipher the meaning before the culprit vanishes into the night.
gemes pake banget, begitu nylesain ep 77 ini. gimana enggak? endingnya itu loh!! bikin penasaran abizzz :p
diawali dgn kelanjutan kasus penculikan takagi, yg akhirnya berhasil diselamatkan oleh sato di detik2 terakhir bom akan meledak. dilanjutkan kasus pembunuhan di sebuah apartemen lt 26..agak banyak porsinya, tp yg paling menimbulkan pertanyaan adl ada apa antara subaru sama ai? sepertinya ada sesuatu. biarpun sampe akhir episode blm ada jawaban. kasus selanjutnya adl matinya seorang pemabok. yg mengingatkan pd kejadian yg sama 10th yg lalu, saat ayah sinichi menyatakan bahwa itu bkn kasus pembunuhan.ada part yg bikin deg2an..subaru yg ternyata sdh ngeh bahwa conan adl sinichi, dan ran yg sempat kebingungan. kasihan ran..puk2 ran.. ditutup dgn kasus pembunuhan di perkemahan gunma. ai yg minum obat utk mengembalikan bentuk tubuh, biar bisa menyelamatkan genta dkk, di rekam sama mitzuhiko. dan gara2 video itu, akankah sesuatu yg buruk akan terjadi?? secara yg mbuka pertama kali bkn kogoro, tp cowok yg tak diketahui namanya (alias aku lupa) yg pd akhirnya sadar kalau trnyata komputernya disadap. oleh siapa? kak subaru..
Hadeh gara-gara Conan lamban, Ai terpaksa minum obat penawar APTX-4869. Aksi penyelamatan yang dilakukan Sherry pun direkam Detektif Cilik lalu mereka kirim ke email Kogoro Mouri. Amuro bagusnya (-_-) berhasil membobol email Kogoro (gara-gara dulu Kogoro tanpa sengaja menyebutkan passwordnya, dasar -__-).
quote of the day: "kamu juga hati-hati, lho. walau polisi, kita cuma punya satu nyawa. jangan sampai salah mempertaruhkan nyawamu."
