USA Today bestselling, multi-award-nominated, and critically-acclaimed author Megan Crane has written more than 150 books and shows no sign of slowing down. She publishes contemporary romance and paranormal romance as Megan Crane (and briefly M.M. Crane) with an extensive backlist of women’s fiction, rom-coms, chick lit, and young adult novels—among other things. She’s also won a large and loyal fanbase as Caitlin Crews with Harlequin Presents, Harlequin Dare, Harlequin Historical, and contemporary cowboy books. And for Midwestern small town coziness, found families, romance, and some paranormal scariness thrown in, Megan partners with Nicole Helm to publish as Hazel Beck.
Megan has a Masters and Ph.D. in English Literature, has taught creative writing classes in places like UCLA Extension’s prestigious Writers’ Program, and is always available to give workshops (or her opinion). She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her comic book artist husband, though, at any given time, she is likely to either be huddled in a coffee shop somewhere or off traveling the world. Tempt Me, Cowboy is a short, sweet and sassy story about opposites attracting. It’s also about the virtues of blooming where you’re planted, and alternately about how sweet it is to find the place that your spirit calls home.
The surprising thing about Tempt Me, Cowboy, is how many different things it packs into a surprisingly short novella. Yet it still feels completely satisfying when the last page turns (or flips, as the case might be).
There’s an old-fashioned cowboy and schoolmarm tale in here, but this is the 21st century, so it isn’t quite that. Chelsea Collier is a high school history teacher, but she’s not as ready to embrace prissy spinsterhood as she thinks she is. Jasper Flint has been the wandering cowboy that he looks to be, but he’s in Marietta, Montana because something about the places speaks to his heart. Once he remembers that he actually has a heart.
Chelsea and Jasper are on a collision course. She needs him to shake her out of her rutted path towards becoming her history-and-legacy obsessed mother 30 years ahead of schedule. He needs her to remind him that the best parts of life are worth working for, and that includes real relationships with real people.
Chelsea is not a plastic Barbie who will throw herself at him and agree with everything he says for one night. She’s also not interested in his money. He doesn’t give a damn about her family connections. They start even.
But her roots are sunk deep in Marietta, and she’s sure that he’ll want to leave. Even though he’s building a microbrewery, she’s certain that the small town won’t hold someone who’s seen the world and has the means to escape several times over.
Being Jasper’s lover, even for several months, is all the escape that Chelsea has ever allowed herself. She’s always thought she was too afraid, but these months have given her the chance to realize that it’s because she’s where she belongs.
But she’s sure that it’s not where Jasper belongs. And that it’s going to break her heart when he leaves. She doesn’t think he even knows the meaning of the world “permanent”.
It’s only when Chelsea tells him that she’s always known things were “temporary” that Jasper realizes the place he’s made for himself. And that he’s finally home.
Escape Rating B: For anyone who enjoys Linda Lael Miller’s Parable Montana series, Tempt Me Cowboy hit a number of the same themes, but in a much shorter book with a hotter romance. But I got the same qualities of finding home, small town nosiness/neighborliness, being part of the community, in this story that I did in Parable. Chelsea is a woman who has tried to do the expected thing in order to keep her dreams, and didn’t quite manage. She’s been dating “safe” men because she’s been looking for someone who wouldn’t make her leave Marietta. Unfortunately, she caught the last one boinking his assistant, in the midst of said boinking. Everyone thinks Chelsea is too prissy to heartily boink, and that she’s broken-hearted over the break-up.
Jasper proves everyone wrong on both counts. The town reaction to Chelsea simply dressing like a normal 30-year-old (which she is) instead of a 50-year-old was pitifully hilarious. But probably typical. Everyone is so sure that Jasper is taking advantage of her, or that she will be left heartbroken at the end. As though she doesn’t have the right to a fling, because everyone knows her business.
And she lives with her mother in a mausoleum. Not quite, but read the book. Bringing mom around takes an act of either God or Congress, possibly both.
I finished Tempt Me, Cowboy with a smile. I’m looking forward to going back to Marietta. The next book in the series is Marry Me, Cowboy by Lillian Darcy. (I think we have a theme, here people, and it sounds yummy!)
When you want something bad enough in life there is one piece of advise that everyone will give you "Go for it, keep pushing till you get it".
But we do not always find the courage or strength to push on till we get it, some of us even have with all our determination the bad luck of losing it just as it is within our grasp, and with that comes a complete set of other problems. The question is will you keep fighting or simply let go?
In this read from Megan Crane she tells the story of Chelsea, she is determined to save the old depot but before she has the chance to carry out her rescue it is sold !
And along with the sale comes a temptation hotter then the Texas sun and more delicious than candy, yes ladies I give you I'll-tempt-you-into-wild-wicked-nights-with-only-me Jasper Flint.
Only Chelsea knows Jasper is not the kind to stick around, but Jasper has other ideas and all he needs to do is bring Chelsea round to his kind of thinking, should be easy as roping in a horse right?
A very short read, but what a delicious, sweet, sensual and super hot little read it was! I loved the characters and the passion and emotion the author created.
The passion between the main characters explodes rather quickly but not in such a manner as in other short reads, I have found that in some short reads it happens a little too quickly making it almost completely unrealistic and it usually snowballs from there, as the true emotional part of it all is left behind, this author however moved quickly with the passion and heat but incorporated the emotional punch I needed to keep me entertained and entranced wanting to find out what would happen next.
I loved the backdrop settings and the dialouge was all sexy, hot, sensual heat! I highly recommend this read for anyone looking for a totally hotter than hot, sweeter than honey and very thrilling read. The perfect afternoon escape!
5/5 star review " He's tempting her into a whole new direction"
Chelsea Collier wants nothing more than to save the old depot built by her railway baron ancestor and turn it into a museum--until it's sold out from under her! Jasper Flint made himself filthy rich in the Texas oil business by the age of 35. Now he wants a quieter life and building a microbrewery in Marietta, Montana is the perfect project. Neither one of them knows what to do with the passion that explodes between them! But Chelsea knows a man like Jasper will never stay in one place for too long. Can he convince her that this time, he means to stay?
I really enjoyed the novella Tempt Me, Cowboy by Megan Crane. As with most novellas I would have definitely enjoyed more!! This is the classic bad boy meets good girl. I really enjoyed how the characters interacted with each other, the author nailed small town living, where nothing is private and the whole town is watching and judging every step you make. I recommend this for a quick afternoon fix of steamy romance! As long as you enjoy a little sex with your romance you won't be disappointed ^_^ This is on my keeper shelf and will be read more than once!
Could Miss Prim and Proper lower her guard to walk on the wild side with Mr. Tall, Dark and Sexy? Chelsea wasn't sure, but she would definitely try.
Serious, stuffy, and conservative, Chelsea Crawford Collier had deep roots in the soil of Marietta, Montana. She was not free spirited, nor wanton, and always shielded herself from scandal. That is, until Tod Styles, her ex-boyfriend, decided to be unfaithful. Now the whole town pitied her. She may not be the cause of the scandal, but she sure felt the effect. To compound the situation, Tod had sold the Marietta Railway Depot right out from under her to an outsider of all people, Jasper Flint. Never mind that Jasper drew her like a moth to a flame, igniting a raging fire inside while leaving her breathless after only one encounter. Could she keep her act together enough to procure the railway depot for her proposed museum or should she throw caution to the wind and fly close to the flame? But if she relents to Mr. Sex on Legs, would he stay with her or would she be just a temporary stop on his trip through life?
Clawing his way up the ladder of success from a life of mediocrity, Jasper Flint was extremely rich, after all, he was retiring at thirty five. He had had the high profile life, the fancy house, the trophy wife, but when he stumbled upon the idyllic town nestled in the valley below Copper Mountain, he knew he wanted to live there. So he sold his business, divorced his cheating wife, and bought the Marietta Railway Depot to start a microbrewery, not the museum he had heard rumors Chelsea and her mother wanted. Then, he met Chelsea and decided he wanted her too, not as a one night stand, but a lot more, and what he wanted, he got. He knew underneath that dowdy schoolmarm exterior was a hot, fiery, sensuous woman begging to be free. Would he be able to keep her, sated, sensual and his, or would her roots for the town tear them apart?
This is the first novella in the Copper Mountain Rodeo Series published by Tule Publishing. It was an excellent story: short but well written with interesting characters. It was easy to identify with the age old story of lovers VS heritage. I enjoyed this light, easy read.
Book number one in THE COPPER MOUNTAIN RODEO series, TEMPT ME COWBOY, is a lively and entertaining novella. Megan Crane brings her characters to life with rich and spirited banter. Readers will fall in love with the lush scenery of the Copper mountains and will be inspired to return again to read book number two.
Jasper Flint recently made the move to Marietta, Montana, from Dallas, Texas. At the age of thirty-five, he has retired and is ready to live a simple and quiet life, renovating his latest acquisition of an old railway depot. He isn’t prepared to be confronted by the feisty, headstrong woman who is waiting for him after his morning run. Jasper is used to women falling at his feet and he mistakenly believes that Chelsea Collier is there to proposition him.
Chelsea is a prim and proper history teacher who wants to turn the railroad depot into a museum. She is certainly not interested in seducing the infuriating man standing before her. How dare he suggest such a thing! While Chelsea does her best to convince Jasper that the depot is part of her family history and therefore should be made into a local monument, sparks fly between the two. Can romance possibly be in the air for these two cantankerous adversaries?
What a start to a new series! Tempt Me Cowboy by Megan Crane is the 1st book in The Copper Mountain Rodeo series. Having not read anything by Megan before I can honestly say that I am now a new fan. Megan's writing kept me very interested in what was going to happen in this book. The start of the book begins with a bang. The initial interaction between our couple, Jasper and Chelsea had me asking-how can these two people who are opposites possibly end up together? Jasper who moves to Marietta, Montana is a 35 yr. old man who has money and is very sure of himself(I would say he is cocky!)Jasper thinks all women are after him for his money. When Jasper first sees and meets Chelsea he thinks she is waiting for him and because of her conservative clothing and standst she is prissy and disapproving. To discourage her he tells her, she's not his type and he likes his women easy and sleazy! Do I have your interest yet, well purchase the book to see how Jasper's and Chelsea's relationship (which turns HOT) develops to a wonderful ending! You will not be disappointed! Megan is a very talented writer. There will be other books in this series by other wonderful authors. I also must tell you I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Chelsea is fine living life in her hometown, teaching, and living up to her mother's standards. Of course, this means accepting a fate that would leave her without a man in her future.
Jasper is looking for a place to finally call home after learning money can't buy happiness, he's starting over in Montana, for now.
They're not each other's type--turns out, they're perfect for each other. From the moment they met, there's a spark, then he dares her to take a walk on the wild side and throw caution to the wind. Their whirlwind, hot, and crazy romance awakens a part in each of them they didn't know they had. Apart, they're strong individuals, together, they're a force to be reckoned with and become the talk of the town. Good and bad. They have to decide if fiery passions is all they have, or can they find love and survive the give and take of a relationship? Jasper would have to put down roots, and Chelsea must learn to be her own person.
Read it to find out if there's a "happily ever after" in Montana! This is the first in a series of books set in Montana, and it's sure to make you want to read the rest.
Chelsea Crawford Collier has lived her entire life in Marietta Montana and while she may be only thirty she dresses and acts twice her age, she lives at home with her mother, teaches history at the local school and has settled into her life. Her life may not be exciting or particularly interesting but it's hers and she's happy, or so she thinks until she meets Jasper Flint the new owner of the Marietta Railway Depot who also happens to be handsome, incredibly rich and dangerous, especially where Chelsea is concerned. This is a relatively short book at only 103 pages but there's a lot in there, the scene is set well, we get a real feeling of small town life and the characters are really good I have to admit this book is better than I'd expected, will I read the next one...yes I think I will.
I've just been checking out the next book and I've found 'Mothers Day Romance Bundle' where you get 12 books for £1.82, it includes Tempt Me, Promise Me, Christmas at Copper Mountain and Home for Christmas ( a Copper Mountain Christmas) it's just a shame that Take Me, Cowboy isn't on there since it's the next book in this series.
This is a novella but it certainly doesn't lack in story line or in heat. Chelsea is a history teacher who lives and breathes what she teaches. She has trapped herself into believing life should just be simple and not cause any issues, whether it be in her work life or in her dating life. Jasper is a newbee to town come to make over her families historic train depot into a microbrewery. He is seeking something, always wanting to see something new, take on a new challenge. Are either of them really happy? Or do they need something to break their ruts?
As in any small town there are preconceptions to over come and both Jasper and Chelsea have to break out of the shells they have made for themselves, but when they do the fire burns hot and temptations abound.
Definitely recommend picking this one up and I can't wait till the next one in the series comes out... hoping it will be Jenny's story
Chelsea is a history teacher who is afraid to step out of the comfort zone provided by her hometown, classroom & dowdy clothes. Jasper struck it big in oil & decided to favor small town life in his retirement by moving to rural Montana & opening a brewery. These opposites meet as a result of Jasper buying the historic building Chelsea has been working toward acquiring to turn into a museum of the town's history. When the small town girl & rich out-of-towner collide, sparks fly & the next thing you know there is a scandal about town because good old Chelsea finally let her hair down.
I adored this short story, and found myself wishing it was longer when it was over. Likable characters, good dialogue, and a motorcycle riding cowboy with a delicious Texas drawl. I'd highly recommend this for a quick, fun read (especially if you enjoy a sweet & sexy man in cowboy boots).
In Tempt Me Cowboy by Megan Crane, Chelsea Crawford Collier, history teacher, is happy and comfortable with her life in Marietta, Montana. Yes, she's still living with her mother and the whole town knows she caught her boyfriend cheating on her, but she's happy and Marietta is where she wants to be. Her family is one of the founding families of Marietta, but slowly their wealth has withered. Chelsea would like nothing better than to turn the old train station into a museum, and has been actively fundraising to purchase the building. She is shocked and upset when the train station is suddenly sold, and the new owner has aspirations of turning it into a micro brewery!
As soon as Jasper saw Marietta, he knew it was the place for him. He's made a fortune in the oil business and is now ready to retire, to enjoy a quieter life. When he first sees Chelsea waiting determinedly to talk him out of his plans, he is thrown for a loop! She is dressed too old and unflattering for her age, but she is as hot and fiery as her red hair! Chelsea is convinced Jasper has no plans to stay and make Marietta his home, and she is horrified by the idea of a micro brewery in 'her' train station! Jasper is used to women chasing him, not him having to chase a woman. But the attraction between them is too intense to ignore and Jasper sets out to pursue Chelsea.
Chelsea is used to being a good girl, doing what everyone expects of her (especially her mother!). When Jasper convinces Chelsea to let her hair down (literally!) and take a chance with him, Chelsea decides maybe she can have a quick fling with him after all...maybe it's time to make herself happy. She has no intention of getting her heart involved and hurt again, and she's still convinced a man like Jasper will never settle down in Marietta. But Jasper has finally found a place that feels like home, especially if he can convince Chelsea to give a relationship with him a real try.
Does Chelsea have the courage to give her heart to Jasper? Can she trust what she feels to take the chance? Will Jasper be able to convince Chelsea he has every intention of sticking around - with her?
Tempt Me Cowboy by Megan Crane is a fantastic novella introducing us to the Copper Mountain Rodeo Series. I loved Jasper and Chelsea! Jasper brings out the best in Chelsea, encourages her to break out of the mold she's stuck herself in, and have fun! He genuinely cares about her and wants to be with her...maybe because she's completely opposite from the women he usually sees? There's nothing like a hot, motorcycle riding man pursuing his woman! Chelsea was a lot of fun! Even in this short novella her character really grew, I watched her become more confident as she finally did things for herself, not because it was expected of her! I really hope she can take a chance on Jasper.
Megan gives us a fun, hot romance with Tempt Me Cowboy. It was really fun to be introduced to Marietta, Montana. Through Megan's descriptive's I could really see Copper Mountain in my mind, feel the wind on my face, and hear Jasper's drawl! Jasper and Chelsea are both strong characters, and I'm really hoping we'll catch glimpses of them in future books in this series! Tempt Me Cowboy was a quick read, and the length was perfect for Jasper and Chelsea's story with smoothly written script, love, and laughter!
A review copy was provided for an honest review. Tempt Me, Cowboy is the first novella in a new romance-oriented series. It's inviting from the start, and is blazing with passion and chemistry. I hadn't expected a whole lot out of this short read but I ended up liking it a lot. Generally I prefer long full-length novels but Tempt Me, Cowboy gave me everything a 300 page book would and more! The protagonist has her share of issues, with an overconfident Texan who riles her up, their opposites attract romance, and a town full of people who know everyone's business. Drama, flirtation, lively banter, and a lot of fun is what you can expect to find. I found Chelsea—the main heroine—charming and funny. Her propriety and how she's been living her life mirroring her mother's is most amusing. She even has the clothes to prove it. Jasper is as you would predict a walking temptation, he rides a motorcycle, is a Texan Casanova, and has millions of dollars which might as well be monopoly money for all Chelsea is concerned.
Thirty-year-old Chelsea Collier has always been seemingly content with the life she lives as a high-school history teacher in small town Marietta, Montana but the moment she meets Jasper Flint she suddenly feels like she's missing out. Jasper gets under her skin and ignites her fire, and makes her want to be more daring—take risks—whatever the consequences. The only flaw with getting involved with a filthy rich man from Texas is that he'll eventually leave—they always do. Not only is he all kinds of trouble but he's bought out the old-depot in town and wants to convert a piece of history—that was supposed to be a museum—into a microbrewery. Never one to be the center of attention Chelsea becomes the main attraction in town when Jasper brings out another side of her she didn't know existed. A one-night stand turned-relationship simply cannot last but maybe love stands a chance.
I liked that the protagonist is so blind to how aged she has become by following directly in her mother's footsteps. It's only once she meets Jasper—an out-of-towner—that she takes a good hard look at herself and her life and sees the inevitably dull future that lies ahead. The smaller moments where she takes the reins and does what no one expects are the best ones, and through it all Jasper encourages this. In a small town it's easy to just feel like you can't be anyone but who you've always been, and if you change it's the first thing people notice. For Chelsea it's a thrilling and empowering discovery, one you cannot help but smile at while she figures things out for herself.
It won't take you long to read Tempt Me, Cowboy but you'll surely enjoy it! It has a hot and sweet romance, a rich setting, and a bunch of amusing characters in the town of Marietta. Crane really makes you feel like you've just read a full novel's worth of a story—it's truly satisfying. Skillful writing and a cute narrative lends to an afternoon well spent. Each book in the Copper Mountain Rodeo series is written by a different author and the novellas focus on new characters from/around Marietta, MT. I'm eager to see what the other authors will contribute in future installments!
Megan Crane’s Tempt Me, Cowboy is a beguiling romance set against the backdrop of a small Texas town, featuring two protagonists whose lives intertwine in unexpected and compelling ways. The story revolves around 30 year old Chelsea Crawford Collier and 35 year old Jasper Flint, two individuals from vastly different worlds who find themselves drawn to each other through a series of chance encounters.
Chelsea, a dedicated schoolteacher, spends her life taking care of her demanding mother and trying to preserve her family’s legacy in Marietta. Her life is turned upside down when the Marietta Railway Depot, a symbol of her family’s heritage, is sold to Jasper Flint, a mega rich oil tycoon looking for a new project. Chelsea’s mission to save the depot brings her face to face with Jasper, leading to the fireworks that explode between the two.
Jasper, a man accustomed to getting what he wants, finds himself intrigued by Chelsea’s honest and genuine nature. He likes the novelty of being accepted for the man he is, rather than being taken at face value as the wealthy tycoon that he is, which draws him to Chelsea in a way that he never thought possible.
Chelsea’s struggle with her own insecurities and her determination to prove herself worthy of love and respect are what endeared her to me. Her internal conflicts and the weight of her family’s expectations are portrayed with nuance and empathy, making her a heroine worth rooting for, and also quite relatable in many aspects.
Jasper’s backstory adds layers to his character, revealing a man who has achieved great success but is still searching for something meaningful. His history outlining life with a broken, bitter father who had shaped his most formulative years and a trophy wife makes him a hero worth empathizing with. The story also culminates in the message of the power of genuinely felt and given love, and its transformative abilities in shaping the best of humanity.
The romance between Chelsea and Jasper is electric, marked by moments of intense passion and tender vulnerability. Their chemistry is palpable, and Ma. Crane does a masterful job in capturing the push and pull factors of their evolving relationship.
Chelsea’s fear of her mother’s disapproval and her own doubts about her worthiness create significant hurdles that she must overcome. The weight of her family’s legacy and the small-town scrutiny add to the pressure she feels. Yet, it is this very pressure that drives her to grow and find her own voice.
Recommended for those who love romances in small-town settings and the heroes who sweep you off your feet!
Final Verdict: This is a beautifully written romance that delves deep into themes of identity, legacy, and love. Megan Crane’s skillful storytelling and rich character development makes this a captivating read.
Chelsea Crawford Collier is a high school history teacher who lives with her mom and dresses decades older than her age. She’s proud to be a Crawford, a member of one of Marietta’s First Families, and knows that her roots run deep in this town. For the past year she’s been raising money to turn the Marietta Railroad Depot, which is a symbol of the Crawford family’s many contributions to the town, into a museum until she finds out that it has been sold to Texas bad boy, Jasper Flint. To make matters worse, he wants to turn it into a microbrewery. Deciding to take matters into her own hands, Chelsea confronts Jasper and tries to convince him why turning the depot into a microbrewery is not only a bad idea, but disrespectful to the people of Marietta, Montana.
What Chelsea didn’t expect was that her intent to confront Jasper would instead turn into a scandal of sorts in this small town. When Chelsea is seen on the back of Jasper’s motorcycle, the people of Marietta start talking. It doesn’t take long for word to make its way to Chelsea’s mother. And she is far from pleased that her daughter is not only the talk of the town, but that she is fraternizing with the enemy. Despite her mother's silent treatment, which is much worse than any verbal bashing she could unleash, Chelsea knows that she had to choose between what her family stands for and what her heart was telling her to do.
The connection between Chelsea and Jasper is undeniable, but Chelsea also knows that she’s never been the desirable type. Trying to protect her heart, she tells herself that this is temporary and knows that she has to put an end to this affair and focus on convincing Jasper to do the right thing and turn the depot into a museum. But can she walk away from the passion that she feels towards him? And will Jasper succumb to her pleas for the depot?
Tempt Me, Cowboy, the first book in The Copper Mountain Rodeo Series, is a breath of fresh air. I love that it’s set in a small town where the people are so close and that history is of great importance. I loved Chelsea’s character, her feisty attitude and passion for her family. I also fell in love with Jasper’s bad boy attitude and sexy cowboy style. I couldn't get enough of this book. I absolutely LOVED it. This book is a must read for any cowboy fan. I was tempted and know that you will be too!
For anyone who has ever questioned whether it is better to just play it safe and do what everyone else expects of you, or to take risks and make yourself happy, this story is for you. Marietta, Montana is like any typical small town, everybody knows everybody and nothing stays secret for more than a couple of minutes.
I really found Chelsea's character likable. She grew up in Marietta her whole life and never dreamed of leaving. She is a history teacher at the local school and dresses extremely conservatively. She spends her time volunteering and trying to keep her sometimes obsessive mother happy and do whatever it takes to keep the town gossip from being about her.
Then when a stranger, Jasper, moves into the old depot that Chelsea's mother, and therefore Chelsea, wanted to turn into a museum to honor their family heritage, her world gets turned upside down. She is determined to convince Jasper that the depot should be a museum, rather than the microbrewery he was planning on using the building for.
Jasper was also a very likable character. I wasn't sure how he would come across considering he is filthy rich and handsome. But he seemed happy to have finally found someone, Chelsea, who wasn't after him for his money. In fact, she wasn't after him at all. But he is the type of person who doesn't really care what other people think about him. But yet he doesn't take that strong self-image and let it go to his head.
The story played out was wonderfully. The way Chelsea struggles with the ingrained small town mentality of trying to avoid gossip and balancing that with the feelings Jasper stirs inside of her and the dynamic with her mother was great. I really enjoyed how the love scenes were hot without being obscene, just the right amount of spice.
I loved this book and I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the Copper Mountain Rodeo novellas.
I was given an early copy of this novella by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Chelsea Collier thinks the historic depot building is hers to make museum regaling the townspeople of Marietta about her illustrious ancestors until she comes face to face with Jasper Flint and finds out it's been to sold to him.
Chelsea has been living a safe existence at home her entire life and Jasper is the wild new comer looking for a place to put down roots. While Chelsea can see how hot Jasper is, she knows he's the enemy and she WILL get the depot back. Her mama might nag her to death otherwise. Jasper sees Chelsea and even though he thinks she's repressed as all get out he wants her.
The chemistry between Jasper and Chelsea is hot. It's fun to see Chelsea get riled up easily by Jasper and how he keeps trying to figure out what it is about Chelsea that makes him want to get huffy with him. I like how Jasper challenges Chelsea to see that her life could be so much more if she wanted it to.
Megan Crane does a fantastic job at trying to capture the beauty of Montana and sharing it with readers. Of course Montana is so vast and beautiful it's a hard job, but I easily felt I was there on that mountain or in that field with them.
Of course I do wish this novella was longer, who wouldn't want to read more about a handsome cowboy? I really feel as if this story is worth 4.5 stars. Knowing that this is the first novella in a series is great and I'm eagerly awaiting the next installments. If you're looking for a great read, with a great story, and a hot bad boy cowboy, make sure you check this out!
Tempt Me, Cowboy by Megan Crane is the first release in the Copper Mountain Rodeo novellas. This story was a fun and fast read, bringing together small-town girl, Chelsea with rich, big-city Jasper. Chelsea's family has a long history in Marietta, Montana, and she never really left. A history teacher, she is working hard to try and preserve her family's history (and keep her mother quiet) by acquiring the old railroad depot and turning it into a museum. This plan is thwarted when the depot is sold to Jasper, who plans to turn this piece of history into a microbrewery. The first encounter between the two sets sparks flying, even though Chelsea is definitely not Jasper's type. Their continued interaction sets the town gossips to work and Chelsea finds that she finally has the courage to become the person she wants to be. The story and characters are well-developed, and start getting a picture of the town and its residents that I can't wait to see develop further in the upcoming novellas. Even though this was a novella, it didn't feel rushed, although I can say it left me wanting more! I can't wait to read the next novellas in this series.
I didn’t like Jasper off the get go. Probably around 26% in he did tug a bit at my heart strings. He just gave me skeevy, pervy vibes for some reason. I completely related and enjoyed spending time with Chelsea whom Jasper nicknamed Triple C (ick). She was so relatable and down to earth. Sure, there were times where she came close to a caricature with her being prissy and uptight, however, in general, I found her to be very real.
The story in itself doesn’t have a lot going for it when it comes to tension. It’s all quickly resolved within the first two or three chapters, mostly because there really wasn’t much to resolve. Chelsea didn’t exactly make it very hard for him to fulfill his desire with the railway depot and Jasper really wanted to bang her, like now. So that happened.
The ending was a tad cheesy, but I did like that they set boundaries when it came to their feelings. I don’t think that’s the best way I can explain it, but it is the best one I could come up with. They didn’t fall in love so much as agree to develop their relationship because they really like each other and that’s something I can get on board with.
Marietta is a beautiful small town in Montana. Now it's the home of Jasper Flint. He came from Texas to build a microbrewery in the old depot. Chelsea Crawford Collier is a history teacher who lived here all her life. Her Momma wants the building to be a museum to celebrate the Crawford Family so she tries to persuade him to preserve the town's history. He's not having it but he is very intrigued by the feisty lady who challenges him. Their attraction is powerful. For once in her life Chelsea takes a chance and becomes involved with Jasper. She is filled with happiness, but she feels that their love won't last. Will she risk her heart? Can this cowboy tempt her with his love? This novella is so satisfying. I loved Chelsea. She is feisty and determined to find her HEA. Jasper is a caring, dynamic male who won't give up on their love. These two are so perfect together. Their romance warms your heart and makes you sigh with happiness. When he calls her Triple C, my heart melts. This is such a feel good book. It left me wanting more. Don't miss this passionate love story.
Really enjoyed this pacey sweet n spicy novella recommended by a friend... Loved the setting and character development. The author handles passion with a flair, and the witty small town observations and dialogue made for lively secondary characters.
In the beginning, the evocative physical connection between the characters felt a teensy bit overplayed. I like for the reader to sense the connection before the characters do. Also, Jasper makes a remark that was more than a bit inappropriate, which was a huge turnoff for me, and made the heroine's attraction and immediate comfort with him feel slightly implausible.
The rising action and climax are believable and well done, and Megan Crane is a talented writer: great descriptions, easy to be in the characters heads.
I was also a bit disappointed with the ending: Novellas require the writer to wrap things up poste haste, but I feel like I've read *this* HEA before, and the rather formulaic resolution flattened the work a bit for me.
Spontaneous combustion is what happens when you cross a jaded, swoon worthy and knows it kind of guy and a rule-following, history spouting, good girl……Well kind of. There were definitely sparks flying from the first encounter. I was smitten with these characters from page 1. I found Jasper and Chelsea to be very real and likeable. Megan Crane always wows me with her characters voice and in Tempt Me Cowboy, they were spot on. Even though this is a novella, Crane does an excellent job of giving us the complete story. You get a feel for where the characters have been and where they are going. Even though part of me wanted it to be longer (probably because I think I have a little crush on Jasper,) I actually believe it was just right! TMC is the first of 4 novellas (in the Copper Mountain Rodeo series)that are part of new group of fantastic authors called Montana Born Books. I know that I am looking forward reading more from them.
I received an early copy of this book from Montana Born Group (lucky Me)it is a work of fiction taking place under the blue sky of Montana.
Chelsea is a high school teacher who wants to talk to the new owner of the railway depot, she wants him to turn it into a museum, but the new owner Jasper who is a well known rich guy and he has plans to turn it into a microbrewery. This book starts to sizzle from thier first meeting, and I loved how you knew what each of them was thinking. The book had a little weakness in that I so wanted it to be longer. And it is kinda misleading, where the heck is the cowboys horse? Its strength was you really related to Chelsea understood each move she made, and a nice pleased feeling at the end of the read. I would recommend this book to adults (it gets a little steamy)with a few bucks and some time to spend on enjoyment. I would love to see this book made into a movie, Montana would film beautifully and then theres the story!
Chelsea collier comes from an old family. A family that were some of the first settlers in her hometown. Wanting to turn the old train depot into a museum is her life's work, until it is sold. Sold to Jasper Flint. Jasper is a self made rich man who plans to make the depot into a brewery. As sparks fly Chelsea has to decide if he is worth the risk.
I love that this story is set in a small town where everyone knows everyone. The fact that the history of the town is important endears it even more to me. Then bring in Chelsea, the daughter left to deal with her mother, with her feisty attitude and love for her family and friends. Throw wild card of Jasper in her path and you know her life is bound to change. The fact that Jasper is a bad boy sexy cowboy does nothing but make him more hot and wanted.
Anyone looking for a short and hot story this is for you. The added bonus is the fact that there is a drop dead gorgeous cowboy in it.
Chelsea Crawford Collier has lived in Marietta Montana all her life. She lives a simple life with her mother and teaching high school history. Her big dream is making the old railway depot into a museum named after her family, one of the longest remaining families in Marietta. Jasper Flint, a self made millionaire from Texas, comes to town with his own dreams of making the depot into a microbrewery. They become more then friends pretty quick, but can they put their differences aside to create a trusting, long term relationship? They both come from totally different worlds and don't see eye to eye on the future of the depot. Lots of gossip in the town causes Chelsea to think hard about the fling they are having. What will she do? What will become of the depot? This was a sweet fast paced story which I really enjoyed.
Chelsea is a zipped-up, conservative school teacher deeply entrenched in the small town she's always lived in. Her family legacy keeps her grounded and her mother is always there to make sure she remembers how deep her roots go. Enter Jasper, fresh in town from Dallas to shake things up. He's bought the depot that represents Chelsea's family history and intends to convert it into a microbrewery. How can two people so at odds find common ground? Through scorching chemistry and the bravery to break through walls. Ms. Crane creates a vivid picture of life in small-town Montana, both its challenges and its charms. The romance is hot but sweet, and the couple is the kind you root for until the end. Looking forward to the next Copper Mountain Rodeo story!
This book will tempt anyone that loves romance but also anyone looking for a good cowboy story too! loveable characters. No detail is left out of this great read!!! Great for the beach or curled up in your cozy bed. Chelsea Collier wants nothing more than to save the old train depot built by her railway baron ancestor and turn it into a museum--until it's sold out from under her! She is a history teacher and he never stays in more then one place long. Takes place in great small town in Montana. Can he tempt her away from her boring life and stay in one place long enough to keep her? Very intriguing story line, and great start to the series. I enjoy Meg Crane stories and this no exception! Looking forward to more....
Jasper is a very rich man, but has not found happiness while earning it. Chelsea is a schoolteacher in a small town where everyone knows her. When they meet the sparks fly. But Jasper likes them easy and sleazy and Chelsea is not. Jasper is drawn to her and decides to pursue her. Chelsea is so tired living the life the townsfolk think she should and decides to have an affair with Jasper. She knows he will leave eventually and decides to go for it anyway. She has a choice to make. Be who the town says she is or Be who she wants to be. Can she have an affair without involving her heart? I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to more in the series. This is my first Megan Crane book. Won't be my last :)
Chelsea Collier, always the dutiful daughter and school teacher was not expecting to meet Jasper Flint when she went to confront the man who bought the old railway depot. Despite their meeting where Jasper assumed she was there to hit on him, he touched something in Chelsea that she wasn't expecting. Before long she is throwing caution to the wind, ignoring the talk of the people in town and taking the chance at exploring the feelings Jasper inspires in her when they are together. There was just so much I loved about this book; the characters, the emotions, the town. Megan Crane did a fabulous job of bringing the town and characters of Marietta, Montana to life. I really enjoyed the debut novella from Montana Born books. I look forward to visiting Marietta again and again!

Well written and edited with just a couple of issues. This is stand-alone story with no cliffhanger.
This is a very quick read and a charming small-town love story between two smart, mature people. It's a PG-rated romance, and the story ends a little abruptly but I'm forgiving all of that because both characters are just so likeable. The dialog was really snappy and entertaining. There's a lot of chemistry in their conversations.
For anyone from a small town, the storyline about feeling pressure to conform to the expectations of the people you grew up with, the humiliation of everyone knowing all of your embarrassments and wanting to avoid more of those will feel very authentic.
