What happens when you dare to wish?

In an effort to regain her independence and break out of her shell, shy Eve Ward writes a daring wish list of all the things she wants to do before her thirtieth birthday. It's a good thing the list is for her eyes only, because some of the items are pretty risqué.

Adrenaline junkie Lucas Riley becomes Eve's "victim" in a kiss-a-stranger dare, and she thinks he's perfect for her one-night-with-a-stranger wish.

With Eve, Lucas thinks he's found the distraction he needs before he has to say goodbye to his bad boy image. When he finds Eve's sexy wish list, he can't keep himself from giving into temptation and sneaking a peek, and wish number eight is impossible for him to resist. Being good can wait.

Eve is thrilled when, out of the blue, Lucas offers to take her skydiving. Her sexy stranger has helped her tick so many wishes off her secret list. Her confidence has grown and now she's having fun both in and out of the bedroom. It seems too good to be true…is it? She can't shake the niggling suspicion that something's not quite right.

A devourer of books from an early age, I spent much of my childhood stepping into wardrobes, searching for that magical snowy world where conversing with animals would be expected. When I wasn't searching for those worlds, I wrote about them instead. My first step into the world of romance was when I stole sneak peeks into my nana's books. I'm still in that world and refuse to leave.

I live in Staffordshire, UK, with my husband and three wonderful children. An avid reader and writer of romance, I strongly believe that words make the world go around.

Everyone of us as at some stage felt as if we were being controlled either by our parents about which career choice we need to take, or who we need to date or marry, or by friends who want to push us into something that we really do not want, or worst of all in a romantic relationship, simply because we want to feel loved.

Most of us crack under the pressure and just do what ever it takes to make everyone happy and never once stopping to think of our own happiness, and then we simply put it down to our human nature and at least everyone else is smiling.

But what we fail to realise is that in actual fact we are slowing killing ourselves, we are handing over the reins of our emotions, our every survival instinct and soon there is nothing but a empty shell left ready to be cracked open by anyone and everyone, used for anything and we have no strength or courage to fight back.

In this read from author Tracey Rodgers we meet Eve, fresh out of a controlling relationship she is ready to take on the world and find her groove again, to ensure or rather convince herself she can take the first step out the door she creates a wish list of daring adventures she wants to do before she turns thirty. First wish on the list is to kiss a stranger no problem, or so she thinks. She ends up having one of the most intense kisses ever and lands herself the perfect candidate for wish number eight sex with a stranger. But she does not count on the stranger being no other than my-touch-will-be-the-adrenalin-rush-of-a-lifetime Lucas, a temptation she finds more addicting that life itself.

Lucas is ready to let go of his badboy image and step up to take on the family business and sees no problem with having one last fling especially if the fling involves long, hot sex filled nights with Eve, that is until she learns that he saw her list, time for Eve to run and run fast she is in control and plans on keeping it that way, unless Lucas can lead her back to his arms with a final wish so daring it will forever change their lives.

The character of Eve was so amazing simply because she was so extremely realistic, through Eve I saw many women of today. The damage to their self esteem, the low rating of everything they do, what they eat, how they look, what they wear, it was all there shouting out the incredible power control can have over someone when they are weak. The author showed that when one already has a low self esteem that it simply takes one person to either break you into a million pieces or carry you back up to the top. I loved how the author let's Eve change throughout the read, she goes from shy un-confident and lifeless to the absolute perfect image of happiness.

The character of Lucas stole my heart, he was just so many wonderful elements wrapped up into one seriously delicious come-and-get-me-I-dare-you-to-kiss-me-senseless-I-want-you package, that saying he left me breathless would be an understatement. But what got me the most was him being so sensitive, kind , caring and simply perfect in everything he did and said all while being the spitting image of wilder than wild badboy . He is one of those hero's that simply has the power to make you forget anything about everything and make you want to escape to anywhere he wants to go simply because of his personality and not the goods on display.

The backdrop settings and dialogue were pure excitement laced with humour, sweet sexy heat and loads of sexual explosions. I simply adored the private words of deeper meaning and hidden emotions of trust between Lucas and Eve it brought me very close to tears as realisation hit, so many woman face this very situation everyday, not getting out soon enough or getting out only to never really make it out completely the same.

The author's look at what goes on in the mind of a person trying to keep everyone happy whilst forgetting to focus on their own happiness was very well written and the look at the person trying to free the other person from that hole of despair was heart-warming, touching and very memorable.

I am taking away a message of the power of love and trying to be accepted by the world can be so cruel it can destroy you but it can also save you if your willing to see the light. I highly recommend this read for any and all fans of romance, a extremely sexy sensual eye opening read with loads of emotion and an absolutely thrillingly fun and fresh exciting ending.

Daring to Wish is an Adult Contemporary Romance written by Tracey Rogers. I received this eARC from the author in exchange for an honest review through Tasty Book Tours .

A Quick, Fun Filled Read with Steam!

The Review:
This one was definitely entertaining. I love a short, to the point story thats exciting and has great characters. This one certainly did!

Story...
A Dare. A Kiss. A One Night Stand. And then Forever!

Eve Ward has six months before her thirtieth birthday. Trying to recoup from a recently failed engagement to a man who hurt her emotionally, Eve is dissatisfied with her shut-in life and makes a pre-thirty bucket list in the hopes to gain back the control and much needed confidence she’s lost. On her list are things such as find a new job, get a new wardrobe, go skydiving and have a one night stand with a stranger. When its all said and done, she wants to be brave, independent and SINGLE. She has a direction. She has a list.

She had a plan.

What she didn’t plan on was Lucas invading her life so completely or the things he could make her feel with just one heated look, let alone one searing touch.

Lucas Riley was looking for an uncomplicated distraction before his thrill seeking, adrenaline junkie life came to a screeching halt to become a stable, suit wielding CEO of his family's business. And he found one when Eve walks right up to him and kisses him solidly one night at a bar on a dare. Unknowingly to Eve, her best friend calls him Rampant Riley as his exploits with women are well known but with just one kiss, he knows Eve is different and he’s instantly intrigued, especially when he finds her pre-thirty bucket list. And after just one night, he knows it won't be nearly enough.

Determined to help her tick off things on the list, Lucas proposes a friendship between the two in the hopes Eve will endear him to her best friend, Grace, who is marrying his best friend, Tom. But the more time they spend together, the more Lucas realizes how special Eve is and Eve recognizes Lucas isn’t the playboy everyone makes him out to be. But Lucas is keeping secrets and Eve is lost in the mistrust of her past. In the end they have to determine what they are willing to fight for.

Thoughts...
Eve has major trust issues, as she should. She’s been a “yes” girl all her life, trying to please people for fear of abandonment and after her latest failed relationship, her self esteem is so decimated that she doesn’t know herself or trust herself, so how could she possibly trust someone else?

Lucas has been avoiding real life and distracting himself for so long, he’s kind of lost his way. A failed athletic career sent him off on high adventures and adrenaline filled risks. He has a bit of self discovery of his own to make.

The Wrap Up:
I really enjoyed watching these two find themselves, find their strengths and find their love for one another. This was a sweet, sexy, thrilling little read with a wonderful story and fun characters. I did think the ending was a little sugary, but the characters deserved their HEA and I was excited and happy with the way things turned out.

I've been dying to read Daring to Wish for ages and I was so not disappointed! The story starts with poor Eve just having come out of a controlling relationship. In a bid to brave the outside world again she makes a wish list of things to do before she's thirty. Her friend drags her to an angels and devils themed hen night and she's given a dare to kiss a stranger. Said stranger (Lucas) is so hot I'd have wanted to kiss him too, probably more than that if I'm being honest ;o)! Anyway, scoring one thing off her list leads to another when Even has a night of no-strings with a stranger. Pity it doesn't work out that way. Lucas is more involved in the wedding than Even let him explain.

I don't want to spoil the story but I will say the journey of Eve growing stronger and getting to know herself again is a touching one. The reader made me feel every emotion Eve was(there were a few cold showers), and Lucas - player extraordinaire - is the one who helps her find herself. She made me run to the shops to buy my very own panties of power in the hope of snagging myself a Lucas!

His journey is a tough one, and I immediately fell for him even though so much of his past is kept from the reader at the beginning. He's kind, firm, misunderstood, sexy (VERY sexy), funny and my Mr Perfect - even with the flaws!

The story was addictive, witty and oh so sexy. A fabulous debut, and no doubt the first of many!

Eve Ward has had a pretty rough time. Deciding her life needs a bit of spicing up, she makes a list of things she wants to do before she's thirty.

When Eve is dared by her friends whilst on a night out to kiss a stranger, Lucas Riley becomes her victim, and Eve thinks he'd be perfect to help her achieve 'number 8' on her list - sex with a stranger.
Eve's list was meant for her eyes only, but when Lucas finds it, he decides he's going to help Eve tick off a few more things on the list as a way of saying goodbye to his adrenaline junkie life before he's forced to settle down - but he decides to keep to himself the fact he knows Eve's deepest, darkest desires.

Daring to Wish is a funny, sexy, easy read that I devoured in one sitting. Tracey Rogers writing has a sweet, almost innocent edge to it, but then just when you think you know what you're getting, she throws in the unexpected.

Highly recommended read to accompany a glass of wine on a summer's evening.

Daring to Wish by Tracey Rogers

'Daring to Wish' is a page turner you don't want to end.

The intricately woven story is an easy read. Full of humour and soul searching amid sizzling romance it has a notable uniqueness.

Eve and Lucas are beautifully crafted characters. So real I felt I knew them the moment we were introduced.

Eve proves ordinary is extraordinary; intelligent, amusing, emotionally fragile, courageous yet lacking in self esteem. She is a complex fascinating character I instantly empathised with.

Lucas is superficially an alpha male, undeniably hot but with a considerate, intuitive nature he is likeable and attractive as a person.

The steamy love scenes are well written and make you long to be Eve. The romantic encounters are tinged with memorable poignancy. The numerous plot twists keep the reader guessing until the very end whether the couple will dare to wish for what they truly desire.

The story has a great ending.

I recommend 'Daring to Wish' to all readers of romance. This story will stay with you when the others have faded away.

Eve has made a list of things to do before she's thirty, it's a secret wish list designed to help her take back control of her life and rebuild her shattered confidence. After kissing a stranger for a dare at her best friends hen party, she ends up with the first tick on her list courtesy of the gorgeous Lucas. He finds the list and secretly decides to help Eve tick off her list one by one.
I really enjoyed this book and loved both the characters. There was a lot I could relate to with Eve. They both had secrets and hidden past hurts, their journey was heart warming, humorous, passionate and daring!. There was much more to Lucas than the hot, sexy playboy he first appears to be (Loved the mirror scene, made me feel warm and fuzzy) and he makes a risky but beautiful decision near the end, all so Eve can heal.
I recommend this beautifully written, easy to read book and will definitely be reading more from Tracey Rogers.

Eve has recently come out of a long standing, controlling relationship and in an attempt to regain her independence she creates a wish list! Dragged out by her friends to a devilish hen night party, she meets stranger (and hero) Lucas (who is HOT may I just add!) Lucas helps her tick off the items from the wish list one by one, including the risque ones ;-) As the book unfolds so do Lucas' hidden past. Personally, I liked Lucas a lot, but I loved Eve even more. I adore a strong heroine and love to see her grow in a story. Eve had lost her identity due to the relationship she had previously been in, even though there were elements of humour and wit throughout the story, I still felt there was a serious underlining tone that was realistic. I don't want to give away too much and spoilt it for those who haven't read this book yet, but it's certainly one to add to your to be read pile. The author's voice is fresh, witty and addictive. I can't wait to read more from her in the future! *****

A new year is coming. It's time to make a change. Shake off the funk and let loose. At least, that's how Eve's friend sees it. Eve isn't so sure. But of course, she goes along with it. That night, she meets Lucas. Things have just become interesting. Neither of them is looking for anything serious. A little frivolous fun is just what they need....but we all know how that usually ends, right?

This is a fun, light hearted book. Easy to read, likable characters, and an absolute joy! I love Even and Lucas together. Reading about how they give into love made for a great night cuddled with my ereader, and there were plenty of smiles. Great read!

Lovely Debut!

I'd been looking forward to reading this book and I'm so happy I did. I adore stories that have strong heroines who need to overcome a hard past or a challenge. Eve is a strong, sweet heroine that you will root for right from the beginning. You want her to find her HEA, especially as she embarks on her journey...and finds herself spending a night with the very sexy, smooth-talking, Lucas. I love a bad-boy with a heart of gold. The journey these two go on is heartwarming, sensual, and romantic. A fabulous debut, I will definitely be looking out for Tracey Rogers next book!

Daring to Wish is an adrenaline filled sexy story about two people who are both looking for change.

Lucas is one HOT soon to be reformed bad boy and Eve is fresh out of an emotionally abusive relationship. She needs to cut loose and find herself. He needs to buckle down, to prepare to take over the role of CEO for his father's company. This bad boy decides to go out with a bang after getting a sneak peek at Eve's secret list. This is one temptation an adrenaline junkie could not resist. They each want something from each other and both may just get something neither expected along the way.. Love.

I was rooting for these two characters to find each other (and each others beds) from their first encounter: Check out this excerpt from just after their first meeting/kiss:

“Wait.”

Eve froze mid-turn, halted by his husky command and the tingle radiating from his hand lightly grasping her wrist. She met his gaze and realized how wrong she’d been. He was a million miles away from being uncomplicated. The startling blue of his eyes revealed depths Eve could only imagine drowning in.
“Did you say…nice?” He leaned closer. “I would say that was a lot better than nice. I’m sure if we tried again we could manage spectacular. Don’t you agree?” he drawled.
Maybe nice had been the wrong word to choose Eve relented as she noted his husky tone. It was infinitely better than nice. Try amazing! Her breath hitched as she thought of his kiss again. Knowing he enjoyed it too sent a surge of pleasure through her that settled deep within her belly. Obviously she could do some things right.
If she intended to fulfill her wishes she was going to have to find some confidence from somewhere—and fast! At the moment her confidence seemed to be firmly in the area of her knickers.
Running and hiding now seemed out of the question. Maybe confidence practice would be the lesser of two evils? She paused before turning to face Mr. Hotness for confidence lesson one.
“Hmm...” She pretended to consider. “Maybe you’re right. However, as this was a dare I’m afraid it was a one time opportunity,” she added with mock apology. “So I guess we’ll never know.”
“You kissed me for a dare?” His brow arched.
Eve nodded. “Uh-huh. My dare was to kiss a stranger.”
“A dare, huh? I feel so…so violated.” He clutched his free hand to his chest in feigned hurt, although his eyes brimmed with humor and a smile tugged at the corner of his delicious mouth.
“Don’t be offended. I did actually choose you,” she blurted before forgetting her cool, calm, and confident aim.
“So you really thought you could violate me then run?”
“That was my plan, yes,” she said with a confidence she didn’t quite feel, especially as she was distracted by the thumb lightly stroking her wrist.
“And I didn’t even try to play hard to get. Guess you got lucky.”
“Or maybe you did,” she countered without thought, mortified as a blush warmed her cheeks at his responding grin.
He grinned, releasing her hand. “Tell me. Do you like to be dared?”
Her eyes widened at the loaded question. “I…I find a challenge hard to resist.”
“Damn good thing I’m a challenge.”

I was hooked on this story after the first interaction between Eve and Lucas. Loved finding the connection between their lives and lived vicariously through their adrenaline filled exploits. I will never have the nerve to skydive myself, but this author writes such a vivid depiction you will feel like you've been there before as well. I read this entire book in one sitting and after I turned the last page I made a little dreamy sigh and smiled.

Looking for a feel good read that will leave you with a smile and a warm happy feeling in your heart? Give Daring to Wish a try. This book gets 4 SMILEY FACES from SYMFB and will file this under Books I Liked on Goodreads.

It was supposedly a secret, until she kissed adrenaline junkie and uberHOT Lucas Riley over a dare set by her friends. She didn’t want to know her name, it defeats the purpose of the other thing she wanted on the list – sex with a stranger.

When Lucas found the list, it gave him the perfect excuse to finally say goodbye to his old life and get the reprieve he wanted before he settled into his new life and get into his good-boy-shoes. He didn’t mean to peek, nor to deviate from the supposedly one-night-stand they were supposed to be having. So the next day, he went back to her and started to give her the time of her life by ticking all those things from the list one adrenaline moment to the other.

She had so much hang-ups and baggage – after a failed relationship, her self-confidence plummeted and having this stranger bringing out the best in her was something she needed the most. She was having the grand time of her life in and out of bed. But as the adrenaline starts to calm down from her system, she starts to wonder how can this man possibly know all she wanted to do?

I like Lucas for being for persuasive, I think would have remained just a list if he haven’t seen it. Eve needed all the push she can get to finally live her life. But she needed more than all those activities to finally find herself. Will she be able to risk her heart again for a stranger or will she allow her past to destroy her present?

This book – is a total adrenaline rush! I love the thrill and excitement of every activity they do together. It was a short, sweet, steamy read that will make you want to swallow your fear and jump into love.

Those looking for a romantic, fun, and flirty story with likable characters will find all that and more in this steamy and uplifting read. For most of her life Eve has done everything to make others happy while forgetting about herself. She's allowed herself to be walked on time and again until the day she dumps her controlling ex and makes a list that sets her on the path to freeing her soul and building the self-esteem that's been crushed by so many around her. This list leads to a sexy stranger who goes out of his way to fulfill each and every wish in a steamy and surprisingly heartwarming journey to a HEA.

I saw much of myself in Eve and was rooting for her every step of the way. It was delightful seeing her gain confidence under the watchful guidance of Lucas. She became bolder and sexier in her new skin and it was like watching a butterfly emerge from its cocoon. She was a true to life character that was immensely likable and had me completely engrossed with her outcome. Lucas was equally delightful, and super sexy too. He was the epitome of heroic as he did and sad everything a woman wants to hear from her man. He's always been seen as a playboy but his interactions with Eve show a more serious and caring individual. He was supportive of Eve's emotional growth and I fell even more in love with him because of it. That's not to say he's perfect, as he has some baggage of his own, but in his dealings with Eve he's perfect.

This was a quick read with surprising emotional depth. It was steamy at times yet fun, flirty, and ultimately inspiring. This is the kind of read that is uplifting yet entertaining and has me wanting to read more from this author.

The idea of the list is for Eve to build her confidence herself without any outside help. On a dare does something bold and kisses a stranger, Lucas, who she ends having what she thinks is a one nightstand.

Lucas Riley is an adrenaline junkie and upon seeing Eve’s list tries to make each item happen. Lucas is a hot and sexy man who is trying to leave his bad boy image behind. Lucas has a misunderstood public image that he tries desperately to correct to no avail. He is getting ready to take the reins of his father’s company and now must have a good public image.
The chemistry between Lucas and Eve is scorching hot. They both had fun in and out of the bedroom and connected easily. The sex scenes were blistering hot. I loved how Lucas helped Eve build herself confidence.

I found the book well written. It was a great combination of humor, chemistry, heat, and sex. Lucas and Eve were both very realistic they each had faults. Overall, this was a fabulous book with a wonderful message that the power of love and what it can help if you let it.

Probably a 3.5 stars. A nice little romance book about a girl short on self esteem due to both growing up with an alcoholic mother and then entering the foster care system and also because her ex-husband turned out to be a controlling, overbearing asshole. She's having a hard time getting her life back on track so she creates a "Dare" list for herself that she hopes will force herself to get out of her shell. She meets a hottie, blond Australian who helps her with her efforts. This backfires a little as she finds out that by him pushing her to fulfill her dare list, she is just once again letting someone else control her life. She needs to stand up for herself.

This story was okay for me but just had something lacking that made it a great one. I think one thing that would have made it better was to have more background on the individual characters to know why she was so beaten down and why he wanted to be so helpful.

Eve made a wish list that Lucas had read and he started to help her achieve all the items on the list. When she found out that he read her list, she felt angry and devastated.

Eve had a poor self-image and self-esteem because of her ex-fiancé. I enjoyed reading how she grew and overcame the negativity and became a self-confidence woman and the man that helped her see herself as she truly is.

What brought a tear in my eye and made me love Lucas was when he had her stand in front of a mirror and describe to him what she saw and she told him all the negative things about her body. Afterwards, he then told her how beautiful he thought those body parts were that she hated.

This book was very enjoyable and I loved reading it.

I really loved this book!

I particularly enjoyed the fact that Lucas was doing the running - it's refreshing to have the hero do this, especially since the heroine Eve had come from an abusive relationship.

It was fun too, as she went through the list of things that she wanted to do, and gradually changed her life in a positive way.

A lovely sweet ending too, mixed with sensual scenes throughout. Can't wait to read Tracey's next book.

MICHELLE'S REVIEW

So apparently I took a little trip to London this week because I am reviewing not 1 but 2 books that are based across the pond.

It's a good thing because it gives me reasons to daydream about David Gandy and Henry Cavill.

Anyways- Daring to Wish was an interesting concept. A one night stand- a supposed stranger- helps a woman in need of coming out from the shadows of an abusive relationship.

Eve makes herself a list, determined to get out of her funk. Part of her list is to have a sexy one night stand. She finds her prey and takes him home, not realizing that he isn't a stranger. In fact, he's the best man in the wedding of Eve's best friend.

And Lucas is not prepared to walk away after just one taste. So he does what any guy in a romance novel would do- sneak a peak at her list, just so happens to be a daredevil and also happens to be free for a few weeks. So he decides he's not going to disappear into the night and instead will help Eve check off a few things on her list.

What follows is a fun story with lots of adventure and hot sex. I love their relationship. It's adrenaline based but because they are doing all these adventurous things together, something real develops. And I kind of love it.

Lucas is of course perfect and wonderful with kids and hot and even rich. Also did I mention he's Australian?

But eventually past insecurities come into play and when Eve figures out that he saw the list things get stressful for the couple.

I think the gestures Lucas makes for Eve and the things that Eve ends up doing for Lucas were awesome and really sweet. The ending was definitely great and I was totally like:

There were a few editing issues but not so much that it was distracting for me.

Slow start to a story about a one night stand - which is odd for such a titillating tale. Surprisingly there is very little bedroom action instead the author gives us a next day retelling of the night before. Why not show us (through dialogue or even internal thoughts)? I did like the progressive character changes. The heroine begins to believe and stand up for herself; the hero settles down and is more patient. However I found the dialogue awkward and stilted and the pace slow and meandering.
