Kerri is dead-set on setting her best friend up. But Sasha is not interested, especially when she finds out the guy in question is a lead singer in a band. She has one rule for her dating life and that is no musicians. She knows relationships with them can only end badly.
Jesse is persistent in getting Sasha’s attention, always being charming, genuine and there for her to lean on – emotionally and physically after she breaks her foot. Sasha isn’t sure she can continue to deflect his advances, and isn’t sure she wants to.

So, I needed me something short to fit in quick before a buddy read. Y'all know I can't go to sleep without any reading at all, so at 125 pages this seemed to fit in perfect. I had it marked TBR forever, and Rock stars are always a favorite, so there ya go. The book was a surprise, nothing like what I was expecting though.
The guy was in a band, but I guess I sort of thought, in my head, he was going to be more of a Rock Star, but whatever that is not that big of a deal. The thing I didn't like the most was Sasha. OMG, I don't think she could get any more annoying. Apparently she has some issues with dudes in bands, ok we get it. But Jesse never ever ever gave her any reason to not trust him. My gosh the guy was almost too nice, and what did he get in return rejection over and over. At first, anything he did even remotely nice, she would let him know first thing they were only friends. This chick was adamant about it. 125 pages is all we get, and I swear about 90 of them she was still turning the guy down. It drove me insane.
ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!! At the very very end, I find out the book is a series. I never knew this until bam, last page. I even looked it up on GR to see and nothing, because they are NOT linked together for people to know. SO WARNING, this is a series!! I don't really mind that either, except, I wasn't looking for a series, just a quick fill-in. Anyway, whatever, I'll probably read the next to see what happens because my OCD won't not let me, and I'm mildly curious about what will happen. It wasn't horrible, it wasn't amazing, and I'm not meaning to rag on it, just my opinion and since none of my friends had read it yet, I figured my ramblings might help.
I was lucky to receive a copy of Backstage Pass by Elizabeth Nelson for an honest review. I loved the story, the characters and can't wait to read more about Sasha, Jesse, Kerri, Axel and even Trey. The story sucked me in and never let me up. Sasha is a fairly straight laced college student. Her best friend Kerri helps her get into all kinds of trouble that she isn't looking for and tries to avoid. Her reactions tend to push her further out of "norm." When Kerri introduces her to Jesse as he is about to start his set, Sasha is instantly looking for a way out of the party. Musicians are a big no no in her rule book. Been there, done that and she didn't keep the T-shirt. I highly recommend Backstage Pass. It's not your typical "bad boy," musician story. It is a open eyed look at the questions we all face while trying to find the right one without losing our hearts; sweet and heart warming with a little bit of steam. Watch out for the ending! It is not a cliffhanger per se yet left me shouting, "Elizabeth Nelson, when will the next book be released?" I can't wait!
3 1/2 stars. This book has such potential and hooked me in right away however when the plot began to thicken BOOM the end... for now. Sure I get the authors method to have the reader wanting more BUT if your going to have a cliff hanger there needs to be some sort of to be continued transition rather than leaving us feeling overly invested and unsatisfied. Enough of me being bitter, I look forward to hopefully reading the next stages of these great characters lives along with the craziness rock n roll is sure to inflict! So yes I recommend Backstage Pass just take into consideration the story is far from over.
I don't much like the girl. LOL. Seriously, why is it rare for me to love the girl? But she was just all over the place. The guy - despite him being in a bad and what's not was actually nice, sweet and just sexy :D
I wouldn't re-read this to be honest. But I must say the ending is what pushed me to wanna read the continuation. And if that - despite the meh-ness in the book - can make me want to continue...then right on! Oh, and Jesse? Mi gusta ;0
Come on!! He is a rocker. Has ASIAN in him...Need I say more? *wipes drool*
~ would have loved for this to have been written as a duel POV-Sasha and Jesse. ~ initially expected it to be more musician related by wasn't disappointed with what I got. ~ liked the main characters in the story, especially Jesse. ~ heart went out to Jesse a lot due to how difficult sasha made it for him, he blatantly had feelings for her but because of her dislike of musicians she didn't really want to get involved. I think if we were able to see the story from his POV as well, it would have been more heart braking. ~ sweet romance
It was so full of angst will she won't she and then bang.
Jesse is a total babe of a rocker and a gent but Sasha has an issue with rockstars and has vowed never to date one but Jesse is a persistent guy and so sweet.
Great read though fast paced probably too short more an intro to the series I feel, but it was good.
I love Jesse, he is a rocker/bad boy version of prince charming, beyond sweet. My only problem was the ENDING!!!!! There should be a second book, I really want to know what happened after that encounter and about Sasha's past.
The story was good and i'm interested in seeing where it goes but it was far too fast and there was a-lot of development between characters and the main character herself that happened but was never actually written. Also the character description was terrible the only main character that had any kind of descriptive text was Jesse…
What a great book. I loved it. This is my first book by you and definitely not going to be my last. I love series and this is the perfect cliffhanger series for me. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book.
This is the story of Sasha a college student looking to do good in school. She is friends with a girl named Kerri who is trying to get Sasha to join her at a concert and then a party after. Kerri is always trying to get Kerri to go out with her. She can only use School things so many times. Sasha gets dragged along with Kerri and her boyfriend and she's the most gorgeous guy on stage. But she has a thing about dating musicians. The last one broke her heart and does not want to go there again. But something keeps attracting her to him.
Jesse is a musician and college student. He sees Sasha and knows that he can't be just friends with her like she wants. An accident happens and it brings them together. Hopefully Sasha will be able to forget the past to give Jesse a chance.
This was such a great book. It was short, but knew that going in. Did not know was a series, but so glad it is. This story had great characters, great secondary characters, a great storyline and great cliffhanger. Love cliffhangers. Can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens. I love series, they are my favorite.
This was a freebie on Amazon and by an author I'd never read before. The best thing about it was that it is short. Other than that, it was a good reminder why I'm happy to be in my mid-30s and not in college. Though, based on the way Sasha and Kerri speak and act, it felt more like high school. The guys in the book are either wonderful (Jesse & Axel) or horrible (Trey & Dew & apparently Sasha's father). The majority of the book is simply Sasha whining about how she doesn't want to date guys in bands, or Axel, or apparently anyone that Kerri sets her up with. Really, hon? This is a romance novel. I shouldn't be questioning why the author even wrote a book with such an angsty protagonist (I can't call her a heroine. She doesn't do ANYTHING but whine). Sasha is so off-putting I have no interest in finding out if she matures, gets over her band boy (Daddy?) issues, and gives the perfectly decent (but too nice to be truly sexy) Jesse a shot. It is the first book in a series, but I will not be getting the rest of them...
Sasha has sworn off musicians, although we don't find out why until the last page of the book.. and Jesse is a musician who wants to get to know Sasha a little more, he becomes a close friend quickly after helping her after she injures herself.. but will she keep pushing him into the "FRIEND ZONE" or will she realize he may be different?
Lots of great characters are introduced in a short amount of time, they are well developed and this has the potential to be a wonderful full length book. I would love more Sasha & Jesse, as well as more Axel, Kerri, etc.
I gave this read four stars because I enjoyed it, and if it were a full length book it has the potential for greatness. The ending leaves room for more, but is not a cliffhanger- I need to see if this author continued this story :)
This book was that pretty looking guy that you take home, says all the right things. You are panting ready for more but when you get into the bedroom …. You wanna know what happen don't you?? So do I? Well written, got the bones for a great series. All I see is rumors.
Real Talk: Loved the story, kinda got rushed at toward 80%. But not enough to deter. The MC's are just finally getting together @ around 93%. See my problem? This is my first read by the author. Ill definitely read more by her. Especially since I'm hopeful for book 2.
Iv picked this book up as a freebie and I do love my rock stars this book is a fantastic read revolving around sasha and Jesse. Sasha swears she won't go out with out with a rock star but Jesse is the rock star with a heart of gold and has only eyes for sasha. The only fault I found with this book is it was too short it left me wanting more and I didn't really get the whole dad subject at the end ???
OMG THAT ENDING!!!! :OOOO Seriously!!! Why do authors keep doing this to me?!?! Why?!?!?! -_-
Everything about this book was going great!!!! And then that ending :( I finally found out why Sasha hates musicians so much and then POOF! Done -_- great. And I can't get the next one until a couple of weeks :P I'm depressed now and very very mad >:[
Sasha has one rule: don't date musicians. After going to a college party she meets a sweet, caring, handsome guy she's totally into......only problem he is the lead singer of a band. Will she listen to her head or her heart and give Jesse a chance? Well written and great characters. An excellent read. Check out the rest of the Backstage Pass Series!
I liked this book it was quick and gave you just enough to want more I'm def continuing with this series I loved Jessie and Sasha and the twist at the end I was thinking a past boyfriend but no that wasn't the case need the next one NOW!!!! 4 solid stars!!!
Sasha came off as a bitch through most of the book and you just don't understand why. Jesse was amazing with her and definitely did not give any reason for her to be that way with him. Based on the ending of this book I am guessing we will get the answer to her issues in the next book.
Backstage Pass is the type of book that you see the struggles Sasha mentally goes through in order to give another musician(Jesse) a chance to break down the walls to her heart. What will it take for her to see that not all musicians are the same?
September 11,2019. I’ve been 70% through this book for like 2 weeks now and I can’t seem to get back into it. But I’m more than halfway through so I don’t really want to call it quits either, but it’s not interesting anymore nothing really is happening. He shows up and Sasha spends time with him and he kisses her or touches her and she’s into it for a minute then she realizes that it’s going out of the friend zone and pulls away and that’s what’s been happening for a while now. And the main reason she doesn’t want a relationship is because he’s a musician, but he’s a full time college student and has only played 1 gig so far in the book, so it seems to be more of a hobby than a job/career thing. So I don’t understand her problem with it nor do I understand the title of the book. Ok 94% through the book Sasha suddenly decided to give him a chance almost out of nowhere she went on a horrible date with the rugby player and Jesse came to her rescue and she suddenly wanted to jump his bones, I don’t like it when girls deny themselves what they want then suddenly the give in. And in the last few pages of the book the title makes sense. I felt like the foreshadowing was leading to her problem with musicians was caused by her dad and also felt that her dads band would end up being one of the bands playing that big show that Jesse was so excited to see. And now it makes sense that he didn’t say the name of his idols band, since I’m pretty sure her dad is in it. And even though I didn’t really like this book all that much the cliffhanger was just enough that I’m highly likely to go on and read the next book to find out Jesses reaction to who her dad is.

DNF @ 43%. I don’t understand why the H even wants to date her. She’s a (self-proclaimed) bitch, and he seems like a really nice guy. He’s done nothing but nice things for her and she continues to treat him like shit. Can’t read anymore. She seems irredeemable to me.
