This book is part of a series and must be read in order. Lance and Andrew are happily mated, well they would be if people didn’t want Lance dead, but Andrew is still tied to Stephon and Lance is far from happy about that fact. As Lance begins to learn of the political mechanics he has to wade through, Andrew and his family seek to support and protect Lance as those who don’t want change, seek to put an end to the pureblood.

A Royal Bind is a great continuation from The Pauper Prince. Lance and Andrew have many political manoeuvres to endure as they decide what must be done to protect Lance from the assassins; Lance also wants Andrew free from Stephon and just wants to be with his mate. They have many decisions to make because as a pureblood, the only pureblood to be known to live, he is a danger to the vampires rule over the shifters and that is not something that most vampires want and some shifters. They have to be careful of who they trust because enemies may not be enemies and allies might not be allies.

I really enjoyed this second instalment of the Changing Moon series, the characters Lance and Andrew still adore and love each other, but now as more people learn of Lance’s bloodlines they begin to learn that there are even more people that they might not be able to trust. Lance is a great character who may not want anything but his mate, but will try to do what is best for everyone, he also shows his backbone more in this one and I was thrilled at his and Andrew’s developing skills. Andrew is an absolute sweetheart and I really love his entire family (well except Uncle Dave).

This isn’t a story where the lines between allies and enemies are clear, you just can’t tell who is really out for Lance and some characters will surprise you, and I have a strong feeling that by the end of the series we will be left reeling as to who the enemy really is. You will love some of the new characters that we finally meet face to face (so to speak) and you begin to have doubts about others but as I said there are no clear lines so you are left guessing. Lance and Andrew’s love is plain to see on every page, as is Lance’s inexperience of the shifter and vampire world and you can only hope that he is being guided by the right people.

I will recommend this to those who love shifters, vampires, paranormal, strong love, hot sex, developing characters, a great story and being left with a desperate hope that the next book will be published soon.

Again, this book felt like it should have less pages. There were a lot of development and progress in this book and yet it felt like it it should end at 200 pages or a little less.

A bit of niggling for me, Lance sometimes use big and fancy words in his narrations. Something that seemed, to me at least, at odd with the fact that he hadn't been to highschool. I supposed it could be argue that he read a lot but given his circumstances, he didn't had much time to read if at all.

I think that some of the dialogues slipped to formal or *old world* here and there and that thrown me off a bit. The narrations from time to time didn't seemed to be consistence with someone of Lance level of education. I don't mean that he had to be crass, but perhaps somewhat less... showy?.

Stephon character turned out to be quite a surprising one. .

This book also ended at a cliffhanger of sort. I think the series felt more like an Act I, II, and III.

While I liked Lance coming into his own in this one, I wish we could have seen his strength more. More battles, please :) Instead we got a lot of "resting" and meetings.

Watching Andrew and Lance become stronger and their abilities transform was amazing. I only wish we could have seen more from both of them.

I didn't think this one was as good as the first, maybe because there was too much talking and not enough action?

I read both of the book in this series in one day. I was SO bummed to find out that the 3rd isn't out yet. Guess I should have realized they were cliffhangers and not read them until the entire series was out. That was my fault. I would like to read the 3rd and would have picked it up tonight. I am afraid that once the 3rd comes out I'll lose interest and it won't be a priority. I hope it comes out soon, because I NEED to know answers!

Lance and Andrew are happy together and still much in love. This second part continues where the first book ended. The storyline was easy and pulling enough. But we still didn't get the whole picture about the mysterious bad guy, who is sending assassins after Lance. This mystery is still ongoing and unsolved.

This sequel begins two weeks following the mating of Lance and Andrew in the first book, The Pauper Prince.

Lance is the last pureblood of the royal blood line of shifters as evidenced by his ability to shift into multiple animals at will and his mate Andrew has taken on the same abilities since their mating. Not everyone is happy about Lance coming forth as the only pureblood royal. Many of the recognized, but very diluted, royalty do not want Lance’s existence to come to light and there are even enemies among those thought to be friends. Lance’s main concern is not for his safety though but that of his mate’s. Master vampire Stephon, the benefactor for the Reed Family, has a mental link with Andrew and he is growing increasingly agitated in Andrew’s refusal to speak with him and is now causing him mental/physical pain. Lance is not about to tolerate anyone hurting the only person that he has ever loved or has ever been loved by, regardless of the cost. He is so strong that he is able to break the mental bond Stephon has with Andrew as well as the Stephon’s mental bond with the rest of the Reed family.

In this book, shifter’s are a step above slavery, all shifters are under the supervision and control of a master vampire. Lance wants to first liberate the Reed family from any vampire’s rule and initiate the liberation of all shifters so that they can once again be a strong, independent race. He plans to petition for Right to Rule, which would release them from their benefactors and allow the shifter’s to govern themselves. Once Lance’s heritage is commonly known and with the support of a couple powerful born-vampires, they have a good chance of making that happen.

The blurb is rather misleading in regards to Stephon. Stephon does prove that he is not the monster Lance thought him to be, he has actually been in love with Andrew for years and is devastated by their mating. Being one of the oldest born- vampires, Stephon is arrogant and sometimes insensitive but he is not intentionally cruel and he does want the best for Andrew and his family. He eventually tempers his jealousy and agrees to help Lance and Andrew and becomes a powerful ally.

There is so much happening in this book that it does leave a few plot holes. There is obviously going to be another book as this one ends without any resolution. I do believe that with fewer gratuitous sex scenes (I can’t believe I am saying this!) that this installment could have been a more cohesive and a bit less confusing. I also think that there were some inconsistencies in Lance’s speech and the way he interacted with Stephon upon meeting him was at odds with his character and background.

Over all, this was an enjoyable installment in the Changing Moon series and I am looking forward to the next book.

"A Royal Bind" is a continuation of "The Pauper Prince" by Sui Lynn.

Lance Fitz is a shape shifter with royal heritage. He is, in fact, the sole pure bred shape shifter that still exists in the world. The vampire drone vassals that pledged their allegiance to Lance's Mother (Lance's shape shifter mother had married a vampire, and they were quite a power couple), now pledge their allegiance to him. Lance becomes the true love of Andrew, and his strength as a purebred shape shifter inspires Andrew to be able to shift into multiple forms as well. Both Lance and Andrew can now shift into wolves, black ravens, and polar bears. Lance can shift into a tiger as well (and probably any other animal that he wants.)

Vampires have shifter families assigned to them, so the shifters are in servitude to the vampires. Stephon is the vampire with the control over Andrew's family. Lance has every intention to break the hold that Stephon has on his lover's family. Lance breaks the mental control quite easily, but he needs to break the love "crush" that Stephon has over Andrew. Well, suffice it to say, Lance is able to convince Stephon to give Andrew his freedom.

Stephon ends up being a relatively nice vampire who really cares for all of the shape shifters that are under his protection. He arranges a party for Lance so he can meet his grandfather -- a very old vampire -- and have his portion of his ancient family estates given to him. And, there is the rub. For centuries, Lance's family holdings have been managed by a low level vampire. Through the management of these properties, this low level drone has been able to elevate himself in society. Now, that Lance is here to reclaim his property, the caretaker wants him dead so he can retain his place in society. (That will be the issue in the next book.)

Lance is pretty powerful, and can easily defeat almost anyone who could come at him. So, hopefully the author can raise the apparent plot to keep it interesting since there is no doubt that the murderous drone will actually be the one who is killed.

Once again, great story telling by the author. Characters are well developed and each has a distinct voice in this book. This novel far exceeds my hopes -- it is clearly a five star book, and now I cannot wait to read book three of this series!

I love this series. I reviewed the first book and fell in love with these guys. This is the kind of series where the author has created a world with such interesting main characters, whose story could go for a long time, and fantastic secondary characters, many of whom deserve their own story be told, that I cannot see the end coming any time soon. Which is very exciting to me.

The relationship between Lance and Andrew has only grown stronger, as have their powers. Both men have had to become accustomed to the increased strength from their mating. They have explored what they can do and are beginning to see what they can become. I really enjoyed watching them get comfortable and confident in their powers, and it was fun seeing some of the new things they could do.

It was fantastic that the author didn’t stay static or refuse to allow for the story to change with new information. It kept it from becoming predictable and allowed me to feel like I was experiencing the events with the characters, rather than feeling like I was waiting for them to catch up to what I had already figured out.

We meet some new players in this story, some of whom I hope get some more time on the pages of the next book. (And maybe their own stories told sometime? hint hint) These new people brought new twists and set up a lot of possibilities in the next book. Things are very up in the air and I cannot wait to see who ends up being good and who will end up betraying them.

While this book followed the same characters, you really must read the first book The Pauper Prince  in order to understand and fully appreciate this story, there has been so much growth and development and the story has moved on. I love that this wasn’t a rehash of the first book. I can’t wait for the next book to come out.

I picked this book at the same time I bought the first in the series. I really love the world of the shifters that the author has introduced, which is different and realistic in a way other shifter 'verses aren't. I also like the description of the transformations in both books.

However, I was a bit disappointed in this sequel. There was a clear difference in the tone of the book, again seen from the POV of the main character, Lance, but he seemed to come across as much older and wiser than we had left him just 2 weeks prior at the end of the first book. Also, repeatedly acting in ways that had terrified him and he avoided in the first book were, to me, completely out of character for him. No one goes through that much change in so little time, especially considering his background growing up. Add to that the fact that everything was left hanging, in a clear indication that there was a third book coming, was unexpected, seeing how there was some type of resolution, albeit minor, in the first book.

There were also plot holes throughout the story, where things mentioned in the first book were disregarded or taken for granted in the second book (for example, the fact that mates can mind-speak, even for a short time after first mating, was a secret from the vampires, and yet in this book Tim and Charlie are both familiar with it, as noticed in a couple scenes). The fact that the story begins with a conspiracy and yet never follows up on it was also disappointing.

All the problems in this book put a lot of pressure on the author to deliver answers to a lot of the questions brought up with this book and I am hoping she can deliver. I look forward to the third book in the series living up to the expectations hinted at in the first book.

The tests are verified. There is no doubt that Lance Fitz is the last known pure blood in the shifter world. Mating with Andrew Reed two weeks ago has started changes within the wolf shifter as well. He will begin to share the special gifts of his mate Lance.

It’s been decided to keep Lance’s heritage as quiet as possible for as long as possible. There’s already been one attempt on the pure blood’s life. As more hear the news there will be further attempts to kill him. Eventually they will announce his existence so that Lance can claim Right of Rule and free all shifters from their vampire benefactors. But not quite yet. First they need to contact Andrew’s vampire benefactor, Stephon.

At one time Lance was a human runaway foster kid. Today he’s the savior of his people and mated to the hottest wolf on the planet. Staying alive and enjoying his new mate, no worries.

The complex world in the Changing Moon series explodes in passion and blood once again. Taking the next step puts Lance and Andrew in A Royal Bind of danger. Their sexual chemistry is incendiary and the machinations of an unknown enemy continues to shadow the lovers. A Royal Bind can be read as a standalone story, but that would cheat the reader of better understanding the characters. Their journey to free the shifter world has only begun.

I hate to give a low rating but sometimes I just can't give more than 1 star. The main reason of my 1 star for this book is: I was so bored I was wishing all the time something would happen... something that never happened.
I wish it was half of the number of pages.
It's sooooo long... not in a good way. I never complain about the page numbers, but HOW those pages are spend.
Nothing happened in 80% of those pages.
That's why I didn't enjoy it... nothing, to a inclusive end. It piss me off a lot. Less talk, more action and a true end. That would make me like it.

So yeah, this book is not for me. And this book certainly is not.
And I don't want to keep reading. I lost my interest (and fear a sequel would be like this one).

BUT attention, I don't want to trash the book. It has an amazing world, with a GREAT shifter descriptions. I love all the detail, of HOW a human can shift to human to a bird, or a feline or anything. Each feather that appear is explained, how and were. I like it. I would NEVER complain about those details. It was perfect and I still believe this book (to be fair this series) is very original in that way. I never read a shifter story with so many details about the creatures and their world.

To be honest I'm rather disapointed. I've read the WIP version of the story and it had me hooked. I myself couldn't think of a way to improve the story, except the grammar error here and there or a few awkward sentences. The author apparantly could think of a few ways to improve, and while that has worked well in the first book. In this book it went wrong. Some of the changes made did add something to the story, others did didn't really add anything, and some ruined the story. Three times that I have noticed did something happen in the book, that did not happen in the WIP, that contradicts with something that is said later that did happen in the WIP version. It's just sloppy edditing, but it makes the characters look like complete idiots and interupts the flow of the story. I'm also a bit unhappy about the fact that Sandy's gift was removed, because of that the story definately lost something.
I would have given the WIP version 4 stars because there was some room for improvement, but this version I can only give 2 stars. :'(

This is a nice sequel to the previous book and picks up right where the story left. It was a fun read though I definitely liked the first book better. I really loved the character of Stephon which was unexpected but hilarious.
I'm not sure if there's going to be a third book because it already said "the end". In case this is the last part, I'd say the story kind of ends too abruptly and in a rush, giving us a huge open ending. It's not really a cliffhanger but it leaves many unanswered questions and the thing that nags me most is not knowing if the main villain/s got what he/they deserve/s. I expected some kind of epic battle around the end, but well, maybe there will be one in case there's a third part.

More action in this one than the first, characters are a little more alive (not counting the vamps), writing style was more engaging

Like the first one, this dragged a bit in the beginning, but the plot thickened and some of the action kept it from getting too stale.

Kinda ended suddenly! Still a good read, now onto book 3. I recommend the entire series. It's well written without the need to edit as I read!
