Seventeen-year-old Tayla will never forget Beast’s fiery-venom spreading through her body like an infection. Now, with her best friend Chel’s help, she must find a human true love before the last petal falls from her enchanted rose or the full moon will transform her into a wolf forever.
But Tayla never expected that her biggest obstacle would come from inside—a wolf presence threatening to take her very soul. At every turn, the she-wolf exploits Tayla’s weaknesses and gains enough control to sabotage her dates. Tayla struggles to control her unruly wolf and her forbidden attraction to Beast. But can she resist his southern charm, the she-wolf’s attraction to his alluring scent, and still fall in love with a human?
Tangled in a web of wills, Tayla must risk everything to break the Curse of the Beast. With failure and possible death looming overhead, Tayla will do anything to find true love. But will one moon cycle be long enough to conquer her wolf and remain human? Or will she become a permanent member of Beast’s pack? Find out in the second installment in the Curse of the Beast series.
Chel finished tying me to the chair and stood. “This is crazy.” I ignored her comment. “Go down to the basement.” “Now, I know you’ve lost it.” She folded her arms. “How will this prove that your giant dog is the hot guy that got in your van?” “I’ll explain later. Just trust me.” One of her eyebrows rose. “Please?” I waited for her to nod. “Once you’re down there, I want you to whisper something. Then come back up.” “Whatever.” With an eye roll, she left the room. I focused on her feet thumping against the wood stairs and heard the change when they slapped across the tiled kitchen floor. Once the basement door closed, I strained to hear her, but all I caught was a beetle scuttling across the kitchen. Nerves tangled in my gut. Had I missed it? “If this doesn’t work, I’m calling the loony bin, Tay.” Chel’s voice rang so loud that I jerked back, toppling the chair. I hit the floor with a thud. Beast’s airy chortle resonated from outside the window. “Shut up. This isn’t funny,” I told him. Chel walked through the door. “Geeze, what happened?” She hurried to me. “Are you okay?” She righted my chair with a grunt. “That depends.” “On?” She cocked an eyebrow at me. “On whether or not you’re going to untie me.” “Oh my gosh. I’m so sorry.” She scrambled to untie the knots. My hands slipped free and I rubbed my bruised arm. “What kind of friend are you?” “What?” She startled. I shook my head at her. “I can’t believe you’d commit me.” “Wait, you heard that?” Her eyes widened. I repeated it word for word. “Whoa, that’s, like, creepy and awesome at the same time. But I still don’t understand how this proves your dog is a werewolf.” The dreaded moment had arrived and nerves attacked my stomach. “Because, Chel—he bit me.”
A nomad at heart, I currently claim Nevada as my home. I have a wonderful husband and two young children that put up with my “writing time.” When I’m not pondering on a spell that will magically calm the ferocious winds that plague the air around me, you can find me, with notepad in hand, frantically jotting down ideas in those short moments between caring for my girls. Art and science have always been my yin and yang. Throughout my college career, I shifted between the two, but in the end I graduated with a Bachelors of Mathematics and Science from the University of Wyoming. Charging into adventures and discovering something new has always been a passion of mine, but as a teenager I use to run screaming from a reading or writing assignment. Looking back, the irony isn’t lost on me. Now you can’t catch me without a book in hand or without an open word document. Every time a new idea pops into my mind my heart races and my hand twitch to write it. In that moment, I have my writer's high and pray it will sustain me through thousands of hours of revision.
First, before you read Star Cursed, you should start with Curse of the Beast (Book 1) of the two part series. These books are so wonderful!! Very imaginative take on two very popular ideas: Werewolves and Beauty and the Beast. It was not at all what I expected. At first I didn't even realize that this was a twist on the ever popular (and my personal favorite) fairy tale.
You have your villain, who is also a senator's son. You have our heroine, Tayla, who most of you would know as Bell. And of course, "Beast."
I read both books in a total of two days. They were very easy to read, very few errors in formatting/grammar. They were written so well that I couldn't put them down. I could literally smell the things that Tayla smelled and feel everything she felt.
Do not let the fact that you think you know the story of Beauty and the Beast keep you from this book. It is a completely different idea that was only stemmed from the original. It really was quite remarkable and I could read both books again and still have a hard time tearing myself away from them!
Ashley Lavering did not disappoint with book 2 of Curse of the Beast. Loved every bit of Star Cursed. I just can't get enough of Beast and Tayla, their story is one thats been told for years in many different ways, one that will never tire.
In Star Cursed Tayla is fighting her wolf all the way, the full moon is calling her forward and she's scared to death. If thats not enough she's got to find true love in human form before her wolf takes over.
Beast is forced to sit back and watch the one he loves be with other guys, but after being rejected he cant do much else their bond is too strong.
I highly recommend Star Cursed to everyone, and I for one can't eait to see where Beast and Tayla's journey takes them next.
What can I say? This is one of the best werewolf series I have ever read. It’s amazing. If you can believe it, this book is better than the first one.
And do you know what the best part is? Psycho Kyle is back in all his demented glory. A great paranormal novel needs a great villain and he is perfect in that role. The only thing worse is his mother. She should be fed to the Pack. End of story.
I love Tayla. I love Beast. I want them to come to my house for dinner (as long as I’m not dinner).
Ms. Lavering needs to put all of her real life aside and write more books in this series. ASAP. PLEASE!!!
Wow!! This book was even better than the first. I finish Curse of the Beast and Star Crossed in less than 2 days, I could not put these books down.
This is an amazing series and now one of my favorites. I fell in love with Beast and Tayla even more in this book than the last with everything they have to go through. It is hard to say too much about the book without giving away too much. But if you have read Curse of the Beast I highly doubt you will be able to stay away from Star Cursed and you wont want to stop reading.
This book will leave you satisfied with the ending and excited when you see it is only the end for now. I will be on the look out for when the next book will be released and can't wait to read more about all the characters i love in this series.
Book #2 in this series does not disappoint.... The details in this book are so real and the story line reads so smoothly you feel as if you are watching a movie. I found myself cheering at parts and booing at others, just when I thought the story was going in one direction...wam you get another. I literally could not put the book down, and am anxiously awaiting the next book!!! Well done Ashley Lavering.
This is a must read... the romantic spice is just enough, but not so much you wouldnt want your daughters to read!! I highly recommend this book!
Star Cursed is the second book in Ms. Lavering's series Curse of the Beast. This is a great series for YA readers giving them a different take on Beauty and the Beast. This second book is full of suspense, and romance. It keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering if Tayla will ever give into her feelings for Beast and break the curse. The new age factor to this old tale brings a fresh new twist to the story. Enjoy.
Ashley did it again with her very well written descriptions and awesome writing style. I was not able to put this down what so ever. (finally finished around 5 am after reading both books in one night) It has serious, hilarious and some down right sweet moments that have your emotions going haywire. I did not want this book to end AT ALL.
Wow! What an AMAZING sequel! I had the up most honor/pleasure of getting to read an arc copy and I LOVED it! My heart twisted in sympathy for Beast and I held my breath for them both (Tayla and Beast) and felt fulfilled at the end.
Tayla is a junior in high school who once lived in the city. When her mother abandoned her as a baby, her aunt stepped in to raise her. Her grandmother is an artist with legends of werewolves and how they came to be; one story in particular resonated within Tayla-the one about the fallen star who fell in love with a mortal man and gave him her eternal life and he betrayed her to become an animal by her curse. When her uncle dies, her aunt claims she has someone following her and moves them to Cody, where Tayla is now. Her aunt sank into a deep depression, which left Tayla responsible for raising her two nieces, herself, and caring for her aunt. She finally called for help in the form of her grandmother. When the star football player targets her as his, she feels happiness, until he showed his true colors. Something else was following her, who or what? Her life will be changed forever when she discovers who is trailing her and why. It is a curse her bloodline is linked too. Please read the book to discover how it all started and where Tayla ends up!

We have Tayla who has been bitten by the Beast and she has 30 days to find True Love. I know tale as old as time Beauty and the Beast. But NO you will find that this book takes so many twists and turns that you will be grasping the edge of your seat. Yes we all know the tale but this one is so unlike those tales of old that it brings a whole new dimension to the story.
I have to say I LOVED Tayla. I LOVED the Beast. I think the characters are strongly written. And the story varied so much from the original Beauty and the Beast tale that it is an entirely new story.
What I really liked is that the Main Characters weren't your classic beauties. Beast was a rough man with a not so handsome appearance, especially closer to the full moon. And Tayla was not your gorgeous drop dead femme fatal that all men just had to have. I loved how she interacted with her best friend and I loved the loyalty that was in this book. Not just between the friends but also the family issues that cropped up and were actually quite believable.
I give this book 5 stars and I hope you can get your hands on a copy of this fabulous series. I hope to see more from this author in the future. Love. I know tale as old as time Beauty and the Beast. I have not read Curse of the Beast, Book 1. So when Yara asked me to read Book 2 for the Star Cursed blog tour I was a little worried I would not know what is going on. With a lot of sequels the author will often offer either too much back story or none at all. I believe Ashley Lavering included just enough to entice me to want to read Curse of the Beast! The story is a thrilling mix of beauty and the beast meets new age werewolf myths.
Tayla has recently been bitten by Beast, her werewolf guardian. She now has a month to find true love in order to break the curse of the beast. Tayla's bloodline was cursed long ago by a fallen star and all of her ancestors have been subject to the invisible pull that Beast has over them. Tayla's own mother, Rose, is now a wolf who can not change back into human form. Beast can though, he is wolf by day and by night he can change into a man. A very handsome and powerful man, that Tayla's inner wolf is very much drawn to.
Tayla enlists the help of her best friend Chel to try and help her find true love in the form of blind dates. The blind dates are failing miserably and for very comical reasons as Tayla's inner wolf fights Tayla at every turn. Her wolf wants Beast, he calms her and makes her feel at peace. Tayla slowly finds that it's not just her wolf that is attracted to Beast. But, Beast has always believed that the curse can only be broken by finding true love with a human. Because of this he tries all he can to train Tayla to control her sense of smell and hearing just in case she doesn't break the curse in time, she will be able to cope once her wolf takes over at the next full moon.
This was a very fun read and I very much enjoyed Tayla and Beast's story. I am now very much looking forward to not only reading Curse of the Beast but also wanting to see what happens next in their story. Some very big things happened at the end of the book and I can't wait to see how it all pans out in the conclusion to this trilogy. http://www.onceuponatwilight.com/2013...
I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This series is so amazing! It is a definite must "to read". Star Cursed is the second novel in the Curse of the Beast series by the very talented Ashley Lavering. Book two starts exactly where book one ended, and it flowed effortlessly. I still love everything about this series, but sometimes I just wanted to smack some people upside the head because they weren't seeing what I was seeing as the reader. I didn't like Tayla as much in this book, but that was because she wasn't following her heart. She knew she was attracted to Beast but didn't ever act on it. That really frustrated me because I could cut the sexual tension with a knife. Plus she wasn't finding love, she was willing to settle. Beast on the other hand got even hotter! If that's possible. He just sits back and waits for Tayla to realize that he is the one for her. I really wanted to jump in and snatch him for myself. I have the hugest crush on him. Every time I read about Tayla rubbing Beast's chest, I drooled a little bit. So yeah, new book boyfriend! I was very excited to see that there will be at least one more book in the series. I can't wait to find out what happens now with the little twist. I would still recommend this book to all readers because its so good!
So Beast and Tayla have a kinda great relationship with each I think they're playful toward one another: "Aren't you going to apologize for waking me up?" He winked, clearly enjoying my growing agitation. "No." I folded my arms like a pouting child. I was so not saying sorry - not with him grinning like that. "Then it's a good think I didn't mind." His silver-streaked eyes danced with a hidden flame that made my knees weak. Beast is still the ever protective one, or maybe possessive, "I won't let him touch you again, Tayla." A threat resonated through his growled words, and I felt the truth of it through the bond." But that is totally okay because Tayla has some possessiveness of her own when it comes to our darling Beast, "She touched you." My wolf and I growled through clenched teeth. "No one touches you but me!" Beast is also the ever so romantic one, and it makes me love him so much more, "I want you, and I want you to want me, not because your wolf calls to mine, but because you want me." He freed a hand to trace my lips with his fingertips. "I love you, Tayla Jonas." Do they get their happily ever after, Heck I'm not ruining it for you so buy the book and find out!
Star Cursed is the sequel to one of my favorite series, Curse of the Beast.
I still remembered exactly how I felt when I first read Curse of the Beast, Star Cursed seem to amplify that on a larger magnitude, because really, how can you not love Beast?!
One of the saddest thing in life is to see the love of your life falls in love with someone else, or in this case, try to fall in love with someone else, and that was exactly what Beast have to go through over and over again. In order to break the curse, Tayla has to find a human lover, but that never stopped Beast's possessiveness and tenderness towards herself, in truth, Beast has always been an honorable man (just like the famous Beast from the Disney Beauty and the Beast cartoon). I repeat, how can you not love Beast?
Well, besides the blooming romance and chemistry between the two main charries, I have to say that the story was such a unique and modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast, the similarities are there, but the differences are vast, so addicting that I read the entire book in one sitting!
Star Cursed was a great second installment in the Curse of the Beast series. Ashley didn't waste any time in throwing us right back into the wonderful story of Tayla and Beast, making it seem like I hadn't even changed books.
In this book, there were some characters we finally got to meet, and some secrets we finally got answers to. I definitely enjoyed this book as much as the first one. We also got to see a whole other side to characters to some of the characters, which was nice to see. I liked how I got to learn much more about the characters as I read on.
Time was of the essence in this book and it definitely kept me on edge, and well engrossed in the book. There was always something happening, whether a physical or mental confrontation, and it kept me interested. Ashley was able to spring surprises, and the story turned out in the way I least expected it to.
The ending of Star Cursed was a book closer, but it also left a ton of questions. What is she going to do next? What are they going to do now? I can't wait to find out in the third installment of the Cursed of the Beast series, After Star. Star Cursed definitely owns up to the first one. I have to give this book 5 out of 5 stars!
At the end of book 1, Tayla had been infected by a werewolf (wolves are made). Tayla did not want to be a wolf and she fought the she-wolf inside her in her attempt to retain her humanity.
In an effort to distance herself from Beast and their bond, she started dating other men. She began a relationship with the senator's son (first the most popular football quarterback in book 1, now another highly sought after bachelor). Part of Tayla couldn't discount this guy's cruelty and the fact that she kept feeling the pull of the moon.
Beast confessed to her about her mother (end of book 1) and Tayla's place in the pack but that isn't the future she wants. Tayla wants to break the curse and be free of the wolf. But is she willing to turn her back on the bond she shares with Beast?
this one was better and I am glad there was resolution on her relationship with Beast. After all, Belle belongs with Beast, right? There was more supernatural elements in this sequel than in book 1. I think this book could be more enjoyable if one completely separates the original Beauty and the beast story from your mind. I just don't feel pulled into this story.
Star Cursed is the sequel to Curse of the Beast by Ashley Lavering. If you haven't read the first book in the series, I would suggest doing that first. It could be read alone, but why do that to yourself. Having the background story will make the second book a much more enjoyable read. Tayla is back with more troubles than before. She not only has her old boyfriend to deal with but also The Beast. This book has it's share of great romance and super angst. Can I just tell you how much I love The Beast? My heart breaks for him as he tries to do the right thing for Tayla. He loves her so much, but knows that she would be better off and having the curse broken.
You will love this retelling of Beauty and the Beast with a werewolf twist. I can promise you that you will be sitting on the edge until book three is in your hand. I know that I will!
After I finished reading Curse of the Beast, book 1 in the series, I was very excited to read Star Cursed. This book was full of drama and romance; parts that make you cry , gasp and laugh. I really liked the connection between Tayla and Beast. It is so beautiful to watch her struggle with her love, as she thinks it is simply her inner wolf that loves Beast, and not her. Tayla goes through some inner struggles, which I think is important for her to better understand what her Beast, and all the other wolves have to go through. This book was really well written, had a fantastic story-line, and kept me interested the entire time that I was reading. I give this book 5 out of 5 (stars).
I enjoyed this book even more than the first!! The story carries on from the end of book 1 where tayla is struggling to prevent turning into a werewolf but finds many troubles along the way. I love the chemistry between beast and tayla in this book as they become much closer I really didn't want this book to end so I can't wait to read book 3 and see what happens next. Highly recommend to anyone who loves werewolves action and good old romance. :)
I'll deduce 0.5* because Tay really pissed me off at times. In general I loved the book. Beast was amazing. But hell Tay, it took you long enough! ARGHHHH I loved the outcome of the book and I will definitely buy the third one. I can't wait to know more about Beast/James and that wolf that hated Tay's guts for no apparent reason.
Tayla is a character that drove me crazy. Her obsession with not becoming a wolf seems to have sent all good sense out the window, especially about Kyle, leopards don't change their spots. I really liked beast, he was patient and gentle with her, which should of given her a clue.
Oh. My. Gosh!!! I love this series! I'm so addicted to Beast it's not even funny. I ate up every word of this book until I finished the last page- which was awesome by the way! ^_^ Man, I'm beyond ready for the next one!!!
So one chapter is closed but anoyher is beginning which i think is where the next book takes us. This book was hard because of the characters' frustration and fear but it worked itself out in the end.
