Taming Alyssa is filled with BDSM and lots of erotic sensual scenes but it was different from other books that I have read. Usually, in most books the Dominant is teaching a submissive but in this case its the submissive teaching/training her partner to find his inner Dominant side.

Alyssa, finds herself moving back home to her hometown to be closer to her family after a failed marriage. Alyssa's divorce has left her feeling like a failure and so she has built up these walls surrounding her heart. Alyssa finds herself waking up the next morning after her sibling's wedding to Matt, her brother's best friend. Alyssa knows hooking up with Matt was all wrong but she couldn't deny the sexual attraction to him. Matt adores Alyssa and knows that they have great sexual chemistry but Alyssa finds herself craving more than "vanilla sex." Alyssa is a self-proclaimed submissive, and she informs Matt that she needs to be in a DOM/SUB relationship. Matt is shocked to find out that Alyssa is into BDSM but at the same time intrigued. He wants to be with Alyssa so badly that he agrees to learn how to be a DOM within the suggestion of Alyssa's 30 day trial period.

Within the 30 trial period, Matt tries to get in touch with his Dom side and tries to fulfill the sexual submissive side that Alyssa needs and craves. He finds himself stepping out of his comfort zone and exploring this whole new scene. Matt goes beyond Alyssa expectation. She finds herself craving Matt and her sexual needs are being satisfied by him. Matt knows he's already fallen in love with Allie but he knows that Allie still has fears and is afraid to open up her heart again. Matt knows he needs to push her limits in order for her to finally submit her heart to him. Little by little the walls, Alyssa has built surrounding her heart is being teared down. The transformation and journey of the two was well paced throughout the book. It will take its readers on an erotic sensual romantic journey of Alyssa and Matt.

I’ve tried to imagine a creative way to start this review. Something unique and catchy and out of the ordinary. I’ve got it!

Okay, so not all that creative or original, but “wow” aptly sums up my review like no other word I can think of. Taming Alyssa is a smartly-written, outside-the-box, erotic romance that hits the ground running and had me captivated page after page, and chapter after chapter.

Author Raine Watling turns the table on the E-Rom genre with a sexy, unique story of Alyssa (Allie), the self-proclaimed submissive who, after a failed marriage, moves back to her hometown to be near her family. At her brother’s wedding, Alyssa “hooks up” with Matt, her brother’s best man – a guy she’s known most of her life. Matt is the quintessential, sexy, alpha fireman, and when he and Allie connect, it’s three-alarm hot! Although Allie cannot deny the chemistry she and Matt share, she knows it’s only a matter of time before her sexual proclivities surface, and Matt runs for the hills.

Matt Jenson is sensitive, and sexy, and despite his reservations about punishment and pain, he agrees to a one-month trial with Alyssa to explore his inner-Dom to see whether he and Allie can find a middle ground between Matt’s vanilla and Alyssa’s subspace. Well, he certainly doesn’t appear to be having any trouble with experimenting with a little kink, but the question is, just how far into the dark will he have to go to for Alyssa to be satisfied, and is he prepared to go there?

Author Raine Watling takes the reader on an erotic journey from both character perspectives. She has created well-developed, smart, and complex characters that are compelling and fascinating. Moreover, she has added intentionally-written supporting characters who contribute significantly to Matt and Allie’s journey. Warning: read Taming Alyssa with a cold drink in hand, because there is no shortage of erotic scenes, and they are all sizzling hot!

I was intrigued by the synopsis, so I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to read and review.


Taming Alyssa is a story of one womans journey through life, as the 'black sheep' of the family due to her career, she has a failed marriage to deal with as well.


Enter Matt, Alyssas brothers best friend and a man that has been in love with her for as long as he can remember! Hot as hell fireman with dimples!!!


After Alyssas failed Vanilla marriage, she is very sceptical of trying things with Matt, but after a few encounters those worries are thrown out the window!

My favourite scene..... Isle 12! WOW!!! Gives a whole new meaning to sex shop!


I loved the character development throughout this novel.

I was never bored, it sucked me in from the first page.

Oh my god, I was given this book for a review. What a book, if you are looking for a hot, steamy, sensual erotic book with a hot firefighter in it then look no further. This book is so well written that you are hooked from the start. I have read and reviewed many books and I have to say this is up there with some of my favourites. Alyssa knows that she isn't normal and so has stayed away from relationships with men, then she accidentally wakes up one morning after a drunken night to find a hot man in her bed, to her surprise he is no stranger and from then on they can't keep their hands off each other, but can Matt satisfy her needs and can they both be happy. What a read. YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK.

We're talking white picket fence, wanna be a daddy vanilla. And he's in love with his best friend's sister, Alyssa. Now, she is a pretty girl in desperate need of a Dom. And she thinks Matt might have one lurking inside and she proposes he give her 30 days to dig deep and find his inner spanking fool. Read on to find out what happens!

Wow! What can one say after you have read this book? Well, I should warn people with heart conditions and other ailments that it could interfere with your health if you read this book!!! I do not particulary like the whole S/M scene, but this author brought in a different angle which was very interesting, you will see what I mean when you read the book! I do not want to give away the surprise. I really enjoyed reading this book and let me tell you ladies, it is, SIGH.... how would I put it? I think you will know what I am getting at! This book will leave you wanting more at the end! I do have to say if you do not like reading erotica and favour clean romances, this is not the book for you!

I liked this book more and more as it progressed. The read was very slow for me but never for bad reasons. I was reading several books at once and felt like I needed the most mental and emotional energy of all the reads when I delved back into the story. Matt and Alyssa have a complex, sexy, sweet, intense and dynamic relationship. I felt I had to be fully present to give the content the attention and the presence of mind it deserved. Hightly recommend...a refreshing take on BDSM, which in the erotica genre, has become so prevalent that it's grown tiresome.

This was a good, fast little read. I can only fault a few small things, like I think the editing should be a bit better, small things, like "her", where it should've said "his", or "she" where it should say "her". Also, the POV was confusing, just a tad, cause it would say what she was feeling, then what he was feeling, then there would be a quote, but not clear on who it was that actually said the thought out loud. But, other then those small things, it was very good. I liked the characters a lot, and enjoyed their "play scenes" very much. Very good, very hot!

I gave this story a 3 starts and here is why. I loved the story line. I thought it was very nice to watch as Matt transformed into a DOM. I was very disappointed with the writing style, for me it was very hard to distinguish who was taking during the interactions. I had to reread some passages to try and figure who was talking. Other then that it was a good read.

This story was like nothing I've ever read and I've read a lot of books that tap into the BDSM genre. Most stories are the Dom teaching the Sub and exploring things that direction. This was the Sub teaching the Dom. And it was intense and hot and incredible! I highly recommend this story!
