Champion barrel-racer Tegan Ash has nothing left to go home to in her native Australia and every reason to stay in the USA. But her visa is about to expire, and her prospective groom has called off their green-card wedding.
Jamie MacCreadie doesn’t actually want to marry a woman he can't stand, but his best friend and fellow rodeo rider Chet has just let her down and, somehow, he finds himself offering to do the deed instead.
There’s no chance it could turn into the real thing, because they have nothing in common… do they?
Women's fiction and romance author Lilian Darcy has written more than eighty novels for Harlequin, Silhouette, Mira Australia, and Mills & Boon. Under another name she has also written for Australian theater and television. Lilian's career highlights include many appearances on the Waldenbooks Romance Bestsellers list, five nominations for the Romance Writers of America's presitious Rita Award, and translation into twenty different languages. Lilian has an active family life involving kids, chickens, cats, music, scouting, gardening, hiking and horses. Oh, and there's a husband in there somewhere, too.
Her upcoming releases include the first book in her Cherry Sisters trilogy, "The One Who Changed Everything" from Harlequin Special Edition, and a novella, "Marry Me, Cowboy" for Tule Publishing's Copper Mountain Rodeo mini-series, part of the exciting new Montana Born series, with authors such as Jane Porter, Megan Crane and C.J. Carmichael.
Born and raised in Australia, champion barrel racer Tegan Ash wanted to travel the world on the rodeo circuit before tying herself to the family ranch. But shortly after arriving in the United States, her Father and Stepmother sold her dream home. Now she feels there is no reason to return to her native Australia. But with her Visa about to run out in six weeks, she will have to leave or get married.
Jamie MacCreadie left behind the family ranch to seek his thrills on the rodeo circuit also. He lives for the excitement of riding and roping and just maybe winning a few championships along the way. For almost two years he and Tegan have been bickering with each other. A great friend to his good buddy Chet, he worries about Chet’s heavy drinking..
Fellow rodeo friend Chet Wyndham has offered to marry Tegan. But when the day finally arrives he can’t follow through. Not because he doesn’t think the world of his good friend. He has been carrying around a big secret and instead of confiding in his family and friends; he has been drowning his sorrows in alcohol.
Jamie MacCreadie butts heads with Tegan Ash on a daily basis. So no one is more surprised than Tegan when Jamie offers to marry her. I thought for such a short novel the author was still able to give a full story here. The relationship was believable, and the passion was really good. I also thought the author did a good job of showing two people who fought so much really were more alike than they first thought. I also enjoyed the how both families were brought into the story.
I recommend this book to lovers of romance with a western theme.
Favorite lines:
“Shoot, you really are romantic.” “I can be. You wait.” “Till when?” “Till next time.” “You better be a little bit romantic this time, Jamie MacCreadie, or there might not be a next.” “You going to just keep talking?” “That’s right, you don’t like that, do you?” “Neither do you, didn’t you just decide?” He pulled on her hips and brought the two of them together again, groin to groin, junk to junk. Did girls have junk?
5/5 stars
I received an ARC of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.
MARRY ME, COWBOY? By author Lilian Darcy is a Montana Rodeo series release by Tule Publishing for October 2013.
Australian Tegan Ash is on a trip to US, so she can get the travel itch out of the way before she settled down at her family’s farm. Without asking her, the farm was sold by her family.
Being out on the rodeo circuit, she decides to settle on in US. But who would marry her for the green card? She manages to get a friend agree, but he pulls out at the last minute. She blames Jamie MacCreadie, because he has always been a bad influence. What she doesn’t realize is the reason she is antagonized by Jamie is because she is attracted to him. Then they are thrown together and sparks fly.
But it’s nearly time for her to go back to Australia, would she just leave Jamie and go now? Would Jamie stop her from going?
MARRY ME, COWBOY is a well-written romance. It showcases the rodeo circuit and I loved it. I was hooked from the first page and finished reading till late at night.
Great story - from enemies to lovers. Love the chemistry between them. The banter which underlined their true feeling for each other. A story about hidden truths, being angry with the ones you love, hurt, misunderstanding to face up to the challenges to find their way home. Silence can be the most misleading truth of all. Loved this story - enjoyed every minute of it. More tears were shed- mine. Yes another heart moving ending or maybe I am just one big softie. Either way I did love it. Will be reading more in this series.
The story has been portrayed in films the world over and has popped up in many books, marriage of convenience !
But in real life when you marry someone either for money, business or to obtain a green-card it does not always turn out to be love found and happy ever after.
But lucky for us romance readers it is the case in books! In this short read from author Lilian Darcy she tells of Tegan, she has been living in the US and living the dream, she is so not ready to go back home to Australia, her brilliant solution to her little dilemma is to marry Chet.
But at the last minute Chet backs out of the deal and she is left holding the bouquet so to speak. She however finds her luck is in when Chet's friend Jamie steps up to the plate and take his place.
He has no interest in marriage to a woman he has no feelings for but a man has to do what a man has to do to help a lady in distress. It is only when he get's up close and personal with Tegan that his world starts spinning out of control faster than you can say ready, set, GO!
The author did a fantastic job at packing in loads of emotion and passion in this little read. The characters were well developed and I felt connected to each one, loved the different little quirks of each one, it made the read very real as it reminded me that we all have secrets and we all have different goals and when having to face them head on it all comes down to what truly lies in our hearts.
It was fun, sexy and had my attention from page one, I loved the moments of conflict. This is the second read in The Copper Mountain Rodeo series by various authors and just like the first one it was very short but it did pack a punch. It did not feel dragged out to get the big moment but then again being a short read I did not expect it to, however in some short reads the authors do not always manage to give it all in a few chapters and I have often been left feeling empty and thinking the read is a waste of time.
But author Lilian Darcy gave me as reader everything I wanted and did so masterfully! I highly recommend this read for all fans of cowboy romance reads, short and fun and the perfect little afternoon escape into a world of boot scooting romance!
5/5 star review " Grab your boots it's time to drag a cowboy to the altar"
People will marry without love for a variety of reasons. Wealth, power, land, prestige, honor or pregnancy are just a few of them, but Tegan Ash didn't want to marry for any of those reasons. She just needed a green card to pursue her dream. Now that Chet won't help her, was six weeks long enough to find another willing man to marry her, or was she destined to return to Australia, her dreams unfulfilled? Honestly, Tegan no longer knew.
Coming to America eighteen months before under a sponsorship, marriage was the last thing on her mind. She wanted to follow the rodeo circuit, competing in barrel racing, before finally settling down to run her parents' farm. Now, she has lost her sponsorship to younger, better riders, according to her sponsor, the family farm has been sold from under her, and her proposed fiance has jilted her at the altar. And the largest crowning glory to her troubles, Chet's sarcastic, insensitive, bad influencing but handsome best friend has just jokingly offered to marry her. She couldn't do that...could she? They didn't even like each other. Or was their animosity a cover for a different kind of awareness?
Wanting to follow the rodeo for a few years to sow his wandering urges, Jamie MacCreadie and Chet had a partnered up for the circuit. Jamie always had plans to return to the farm, but until then, he sent most of his winnings home to help with the farm's improvements. He had tried to make his family understand his position, but their relationship was still strained. Now he had created a new problem. Jokingly, he had offered to take Chet's place with the abrupt, flashy, hard-edged Tegan. What had made him offer? After all, they didn't even like each other... or did they? Was that enmity between them just a smoke screen for a much more basic form of awareness?
I found this a fun, easy read. The writing, dialogue, and descriptions flowed smoothly to make for an enjoyable story. I would recommend this to all romance readers.
I received a copy from the author for an honest review.
MARRY ME, COWBOY draws readers into the fictional town of Marietta, Montana, where the sights and sounds of the Copper Mountain Rodeo come to life. Author Lilian Darcy excels at spinning a story that will capture your heart and imagination, and will leave a lasting impression that you will not soon forget.
Tegan Ash is a native Australian who is in the United States on a visa that is about to expire. Not wanting to leave the country, she makes arrangements with her friend Chet to get married so that she does not have to give up riding in the rodeo circuit. When Chet backs out and leaves Tegan at the alter, she must reconsider her plans and she may have to go back home.
Jamie MacCreadie is a man of few words. He and Tegan do not exactly see eye to eye, but he offers to marry her anyway to help her with her dilemma. Jamie is not prepared for the overwhelming attraction that he has for Tegan because the two just cannot seem to get along. Can two people who are so at odds with one another possibly find love together?
Not only do I love the stories of The Cooper Mountain Rodeo novellas, but I absolutely am loving the covers!
In Marry Me, Cowboy by Lilian Darcy, Tegan makes the rodeo circuits barrel racing. Originally from Australia and her visa about to expire, Tegan is all set to marry her fellow rodeo rider Chet so that she can stay in the country. There is no romance involved, it is pure practicality. So when Chet suddenly calls off the wedding (at the wedding!), Tegan is not heart broken, but disappointed...she's not ready to go back to Australia yet. She'd like nothing more to blame Chet's good friend Jamie for that fiasco!
As far as Tegan can tell, her and Jamie are complete opposites with nothing in common. They only seem to antagonize each other. Tegan is flashy, likes to talk, and not at all the kind of woman Jamie wants to be with. When he finds himself offering spur of the moment to marry Tegan so she can stay in the country, neither of them really take his offer seriously. Both of them choose to ignore the little sparks the other can set off. But when Chet comes clean with his secret, Tegan sees a whole new side of Jamie...one she just might like. They've known each other for almost two years, but just now, while in Marieta, they are suddenly spending more and more time together. Both of them have pasts, hurts and issues they struggle with, things they want to do. They just might have way more in common than either of them thinks, and maybe being together will be more than either of them thought possible!
Marry Me, Cowboy is another fun romance in The Cooper Mountain Rodeo series. I loved being back in Marieta. Tegan and Jamie are both people you can relate to, and the way they come together shows that sometimes facing the past is the only way to move forward. I liked the way they were able to get past their perceived differences and finally talk to each other! They are a bit younger than what I usually like to read about, but they are strong enough characters that I really enjoyed them! Marry Me, Cowboy is a great example of how many times there is way more to a person than you first think, and if you go a bit deeper you might like what you find! Lilian managed to draw me in quickly to Tegan and Jamie's story and keep me there, not only for them but for the secondary characters also - more people that I wouldn't mind finding out more about, really letting your imagination take you where you want them to go!
If you haven't read Tempt Me, Cowboy (the first book in the series), Marry Me, Cowboy can certainly be read as a stand alone novella. I highly recommend reading them both though!
Tegan and Chet, both riders in the rodeo, are about to get married. Where most marry for love, these two are planning to marry for convenience. Tegan is an Australian native whose Visa is about to expire in the next few weeks. She knows that if she doesn’t marry an American citizen soon that she risks losing her Visa and being forced to go back to Australia. Although Australia is home to her, she has no home to go to. Her family sold the farm that she was hoping to take over. She told them that she was only going to be gone for a couple years. She even came home when she was able to, but that didn’t stop them. And now Tegan has no place to call home. Betrayed and determined to find a way to stay in the states, her and Chet arranged for this marriage to take place. However, when the wedding day came, Chet couldn’t go through with it. Scared and confused, Tegan is left to figure out what she’s going to do now.
Jamie MacCreadie knows how to draw the attention of the crowd at the rodeo and the women on the streets. He’s a man of few words, but could get what he wants simply with his smile. Jamie and Chet have been best friends, but Tegan isn’t too keen on Jamie. From the very beginning their personalities clashed, but something has changed. Trying to make Chet feel better about his decision to call off the wedding, therefore not being able to help Tegan, Jamie offered to marry her. Tegan brushed off his offer, but couldn’t help noticing the physical attraction that she was starting to feel for him. She doesn’t understand why she’s having these feelings, especially since her and Jamie don’t even get along. But could he have been serious? And could Tegan really consider his offer?
Marry Me, Cowboy is such an amazing book. From the very beginning I felt like I was on a rodeo ride of emotions. Each character had their own issues that they were dealing with, but through it all they were always there for each other.
When I think of Rodeo’s, I think of cowboys and who can resist a cowboy? The way they swagger and fill out those wranglers…….sigh. Marry Me, Cowboy is Book 2 of The Copper Mountain Rodeo Series and is by the fabulous Lilian Darcy. Lilian Darcy is able to pack a whole lot of story in this novella. This is Jamie and Tegan’s story and Darcy does a fantastic job of giving us their back stories without making them wordy or forced, and their back stories are definitely important to understand who Jamie and Tegan are how they came to the rodeo life. Tegan is Australian and needs a green card to stay in the US and her friend Chet has offered to marry her, but backs out at the last minute; he is battling his own demons and has very valid reasons for not going through with the wedding. On a whim their other rodeo buddy Jamie, offers to marry Tegan. Tegan declines because she and Jamie hate each other or so they think. But there is a fine line between love and hate…….. Darcy does a nice job of describing the rodeo and the rodeo life; I felt like I was right there with them and found myself cheering them on in their events and in their relationship. I am loving this series written by some of my favorite authors and I can’t wait for book 3 out in October by C.J. Carmichael’s Promise Me, Cowboy followed by Jane Porter’s Take Me, Cowboy, and it all started with Megan Crane’s Tempt Me, Cowboy.
Oh man did I really, really LOVE Marry Me, Cowboy by Lilian Darcy! Makes me need a cowboy to call my own :-) This is the second novella in the Copper Mountain Rodeo series and so far I'm totally in love! I really like the sparks that fly between Jamie and Tegan and I loved it even more when they both finally realize why they spark off each other in the ways they do :-) Even though this is a novella Lilian Darcy was able to give the characters enough background and personal problems to hash out that the only reason you re left wanting is because you could go reading about this great couple!! Can't wait for the next novella, I'm pretty stoked after reading the blurb..... Definitely recommend this for a quick afternoon read with a little "heat", if you know what I mean!! It's a keeper and will be read more than once by this chickie!
Tegan Ash is set to marry to get her green card. When the groom backs out at the last minute his best friend,Jamie MacCreadie volunteers. The problem is Tegan and Jamie cannot stand each other. They are both on the rodeo circuit so seeing each other is a given.
Jamie is a hottie. Rodeo man with a great big heart. From the very beginning he won me over. Not only did eh volunteer to take his best friends place to keep Tegan in the US but he also kept discreet tabs on his best friend when his life was spiraling out of control. He had a great sense of when to push someone and when to step back and let them falter a little bit.
Tegan is difficult. She had a chip on her shoulders towards Jamie but doesn't really know why. When sparks started to fly between Jamie and Tegan I could feel her step back and wonder what was going on. I learned to love her as she opened her heart and realized that if she had to go back to Australia the world would not end. She also managed to give Jamie support as he tried to reconnect with his family.
This is an amazing novella. The emotions were real and presented to the reader in a way that pulled you right into the story. I will recommend this to all my chic lit friends.
This is a cute story of boy meets girl, girl needs to get married to stay in the country, boy agrees and then confesses at the altar he can’t help his best friend out after all. What’s a girl to do?
Tegan is supposed to marry Chet, but Chet can’t go through with it because of his very own personal secrets. Tegan is running out of options before her visa runs out. She has accepted the fact that she will be going home to Australian when Jamie, Chet’s best friend and Tegan’s nemesis, drunkenly announces he will marry her. Jamie and Tegan are like oil and water, how can these two possibly get married without killing each other first?
I thought the story was pretty cute. I liked how Tegan and Jamie’s animosity towards each other was secretly growing into love under the guise of insults and constant ribbing. The characters were likeable and the saucy heroine was paired nicely with a strong yet awkward cowboy who balanced Tegan’s personality perfectly. A quick, light-hearted read.
Tegan & Chet are rodeo circuit riders about to walk down the aisle together, not because they are in love, but because Tegan’s visa is about to expire and she’s not ready to go back to Australia yet. Unfortunately, Chet has a change of heart at the last minute & decides he can’t marry Tegan. Chet’s best friend Jamie & Tegan have never really gotten along, but after the wedding debacle they are thrown together when Chet reveals a big secret to them then leaves town. Once they realize their dislike for each other is misplaced and acknowledge the attraction they have always denied, sparks fly.
LOVED this story! I really liked the first novella in the Copper Mountain Rodeo series; this one had the same vibe, but was totally different and unique in its plot and focus on the rodeo. I really enjoyed the rodeo setting and thought the characters and the romance between them were very well written and believable. Quick, fun read, definitely one I would recommend!
Marry Me, Cowboy (Copper Mountain Rodeo) by Lillian Darcy
Jamie MacCreadie's best friend Chet Wyndham is marrying Tegan Ash and Tegan does not like Jamie. Tegan likes to point out Jamie's shortcomings and one is he doesn't like to talk to women and she thinks he will not be at the wedding as the best man.
Jamie is bothered by Chet and Tegan's wedding. He knows it's for Tegan to get a green card to stay in the US instead of going back to Australia he's not concerned about that, but something else is disturbing him
To find out what is bothering Jamie about the wedding you must get the book.
Tegan Ash is an Australian barrel rider living in the US. She's all ready to marry Chet in order to stay in the US, but he calls off the wedding at the last minute. She ends up spending time with Chet's BFF, Jamie MacCreadie - the two haven't liked each other since the time they met. But, one thing leads to another.... This was a short story with not a lot to it, but it was cute and sweet.
Marry Me, Cowboy is an enemies to lovers romance by Lilian Darcy. Jamie MacCreadie and Tegan Ash are part of the rodeo circuit. Tegan is from Australia and in order to stay in the country and continue barrel-racing, she needs to get married before her visa expires in six weeks. Jamie and Tegan's friend, Chet Wyndham has agreed to marry her so she can get a green card. Unfortunately, Chet finds that he is just not able to go through with the wedding. Things change between Jamie and Tegan after that and Jamie says he'll marry her if she wants. A secret is revealed, feelings change, and decisions are made. This is a fun cowboy story with time spent in Marietta, Montana during the Copper Mountain Rodeo. The descriptions of the characters and the setting make it easy to visualize and enjoy the story.
My rating range throughout the story... 2.75 - 3.75 Stars
Main Character Ratings... H = 7/10 - h = 6/10
Scenes with heat.. A few
Heat Rating... 5 Clean - 1 or 2 Descriptive Sex - 5 or above Beyond Descriptive Sex - 8 or above
The back story... h is from Australia and is about to marry one of the guys in the rodeo so she can legally stay in the US. H doesn't like the h but starts to fall for her when a friend confides in them.
The Romance... Almost none until the 50% mark.
The drama explosion... Lack of communication leads to misunderstandings.
Final Notes... Lots of repetitive internal dialog drove me crazy.
Emily Cauldwell has done a great job narrating this series, and I think this was no exception. However, she seems very stilted here. I think it's because of the personalities of the characters. They're rough people, rodeo people, horse people, ranch people. They do not live easy lives. And her narration captures that whether it sounds good or not.
The story was just ok. I did like Jamie, the main love interest. There seemed to be less family drama and involvement than in the previous book. It wasn't as deep.
So I'm on to the next one. They're quick books, easy to get through in a couple of hours.
I enjoyed this cowboy romance because the hero and heroine don’t like each other very much at the beginning of the story but they find they have a lot in common when they let down their emotional walls. Jamie and Teagan both needed to leave home to chase their dreams but have heavy hearts because of the circumstances. I liked the romance, the characters and that wonderful feeling of finally coming home represented in the story. I listened to the audiobook version and I enjoyed the narration performance, and Australian accent of Emily Cauldwell very much.
Jamie MacCreadie & Tegan Ash She would love to stay in the country but her visa is about to expire. She plans to marry Chet for the green card but he couldn’t commit after all. Something changed when Jamie and Tegan stopped snipping at one another and actually talked.
A western romance combining frenemies-to-lovers with just a hint of arranged marriage. It’s an arrangement that works pretty darn well!
Tegan Ash starts out the story planning on a green-card marriage with her rodeo buddy Chet Wyndham. This isn’t a love match. Tegan and Chet aren’t even friends-with-benefits. Tegan has been a barrel rider on the rodeo circuit for almost two years, and her visa is up. Her dad and step-mum have sold the family farm in Australia, and she feels like she has no home to go back to. But her rodeo career in the U.S. hasn’t been quite splashy enough for the owner of the rodeo to be willing to sponsor her for an extension of her work visa.
That’s where Chet was supposed to come into the picture. Tegan, Chet and Jamie have been the Three Musketeers for almost two years. Solving Tegan’s problem with a green-card marriage should have been a piece of cake. Except for two things.
Tegan and Jamie scrap like a pair of five year olds every time they’re within talking distance. Or even glaring distance.
And Chet backs out of the ceremony at the last minute. The very, very last minute. Leaving Tegan with less than six weeks to sell her horse, her half of her trailer and everything else she has in the States, and go back to a family she’s lost complete touch with.
Chet finally admits that he won’t marry Tegan, even a half-baked, half-faked marriage, because he’s gay. (About time he made that admission, it’s screamingly obvious what his secret is by that point.)
But Chet leaves behind two friends who suddenly no longer have a wedding between them to hide the other elephant in the barn. All that scrapping has been a dust storm to hide the real heat they feel for each other.
The only problem is that now Tegan and Jamie only have six weeks to undo all the learned fighting behaviors that they’ve always engaged in with each other to see what else they might have besides boiling hot sexual chemistry.
Can they manage to talk to each other? Enough and in time to see where this might lead before Tegan has to go back to Australia for good?
Escape Rating B: The story is all about Tegan and Jamie adjusting their thinking towards each other. Actually, it’s mostly about Tegan adjusting her thinking, Jamie’s is pretty well adjusted. In fact, it’s his supportive reaction to Chet’s reveal of his big secret that turns the tide in his favor.
Tegan doesn’t want to go home because she had originally planned to stay in the U.S. for two years and then go back to her family’s farm. She just hadn’t been ready to settle down when the rodeo offer came along and she thought her father understood that. However, he sold the farm while she was gone, and her stepmother made it seem like it was because her half-brother needed the money for law school. Her relationship with her family is strained.
Jamie’s relationship with his own family is equally strained. His folks weren’t happy he chose a rodeo career either. They wanted him to stay on their ranch and help out, and seemed to be equally of the belief that by the time he was done with his rodeo career, he’d be too banged up to help them out. But when the rodeo comes to Copper Mountain, he and his family manage to come to an understanding.
He thinks that maybe Tegan can find some middle ground with her folks, but only if she goes there in person. He knows that telephone call don’t really connect people who aren’t good at talking much about their feelings. Like him. And probably like her dad.
Sex turns out to be pretty easy once Tegan’s fake engagement to Chet is out of the way. But a relationship is difficult to work out. Tegan doesn’t want to reveal where her broken places are; she’s afraid of being vulnerable. And she thinks there’s no time for them to be more than sex buddies.
Teagan Ashe had always dreamed of taking over the family ranch one day. Unfortunately, during her time in America becoming a champion barrel racer, her father did the unthinkable: he sold the ranch and retired. Now, feeling cut adrift, she has no desire to go back to Australia. However, that might be just what she has to do. Her visa is about to expire and her green card wedding has just been called off. Enter the groom's best friend...
Jamie MacCreadie has spent his life chasing something. Scratching the proverbial itch before planning to settle down and help with his family's cattle ranch in Montana. Now, after his best friend has dumped Teagan at the alter, he is faced with a tough choice: step in and marry a woman he doesn't even like, or step away and make her mend her own fences while he mends his at home.
This is the second book in the Copper Mountain Rodeo series and the first book to feature the MacCreadie family (Jamie's parents, Rob and Melinda, are featured in Rodeo Sweethearts; his aunt, Kate, is featured in Late Last Night).
Teagan is fairly straight forward and "salt of the earth". She not only doesn't shy away from hard work, she expects to carry her own load. Her anger at her father and resentment of her step-mother come out in some fairly ugly ways, but she is smart enough to keep those feelings under wraps, all things considered. She misses Australia, but feels that there is nothing for her to go back to.
Jamie is partially estranged from his own family. He has never understood his parents' relationship; his mother is upbeat and scatter-brained (not ideal for a rancher's wife), while his father is hard working and quiet. He also has a strained relationship with his older brother, RJ, who seems to resent his life style.
I have to say this was not one of my favorite stories by Lilian Darcy. She has a way of making chemistry come out of extraordinary circumstances. It just didn't seem to work in this case. I didn't really connect with Teagan, and I didn't find Jamie very heroic.
That being said, I did enjoy the end of the book, which definitely made up for the lack of emotional response in the rest of the book. The characters finally lived up to their promise at this point and made this book worth reading in the end.
Overall, I would say buy the book, hang in there to the end, and you shouldn't be disappointed.
Tegan and Jamie have spent most of the last two years not liking each other much. Oh, lately they’ve done some good in getting over their annoyances around Chet, Tegan’s soon to be husband and Jamie’s friend and rodeo partner. But it really wasn’t easy as it seems the only thing these two know how to do is argue, or snip at each other. But there just might be more behind that constant snipping than either is ready to acknowledge, to themselves or each other.
When Chet decides he just cannot marry Teagan, their friendship takes on new meanings for them all. Somewhere along the line, Teagan stopped actively disliking Jamie, who knew that was even possible. And Jamie started to have far different feelings than annoyance around Teagan. When the trio heads to Marietta, Montana for the 75th Annual Copper Mountain Rodeo, well, life is about to change for them all
Marry Me, Cowboy is a fun, a bit emotional romance between two people who would have sworn they were enemies until suddenly they were something else. Truths will come out, and families will face some rearranging of blame and tensions. Nothing is ever smooth sailing when it comes to families, and both Teagan and Jamie have reached the point where it’s time to mend fences. We’ll get a chance to catch up with Melinda and Rob from Rodeo Sweethearts for a bit. I love the connections that the families and friends in Marietta, Montana always have. There might be lots of strong, silent types around town, but the emotions are still there beneath the surface. I had fun with Marry Me, Cowboy. Got a chance to see touches of long-loved friends within the series from their beginnings and that is pure entertainment for me.
Looking for an entertaining, fun and emotional Cowboy Romance? Then head back to the beginnings of the Marietta, Montana world that’s become so addicting to its loyal readers. You’ll find a lovely romance, good friends and a series to get caught up in.
(From a blog tour stop: http://www.readergirlsblog.com/2013/0...) (My rating: 4.5) Cowboys, horses, a guy and a girl who don't like each other, a marriage of convenience. This is the recipe of countless romances. In Lillian Darcy's Marry Me, Cowboy, she tosses this tried-and-true formula into a barrel, adds her own spin, and makes it her own.
Marry Me, Cowboy is the second book in the new Copper Mountain series. I loved the ease with which I immediately fell into this charming story. From the opening scene with American Jamie MacCreadie, 26, a competitor in the rodeo circuit, and Aussie Tegan Ash, also 26, barrel-racer, I was in. They are standing by the railing at a competition and Tegan is condescendingly reminding Jamie about the next day. The day when she marries his best friend, Chet. You can tell Jamie's a nice guy, by the way he easily admits how awkward he is around women, and these two haven't exactly gotten along. There's something bothering him about Chet marrying Tegan so she can get her green card and remain in the U.S., but he can't figure out what, not when he can smell her shampoo from her close proximity and his thoughts become easily muddled. When disaster strikes on Tegan's wedding day, will Jamie help her out? Will she let him?
Since this is a novella, I won't go into details. This is my first story featuring rodeos and barrel-racing. I liked this setting, it was different and refreshing to read. Author Lillian Darcy writes an entertaining novel featuring two lead characters a reader can easily fall in love with. Tegan is feisty and Jamie is headstrong. The dialogue flows easily, the pacing is just right, and a contemporary romance with classic tropes charms the reader to the very last word.
Marry Me, Cowboy can easily be described in three words: I loved it!
Marry Me, Cowboy is the second Copper Mountain Rodeo series. Interestingly enough they are written by different authors. The books in this series are written by different authors and the first one I read, Promise Me, Cowboy, was good until the end when I felt it just ended too quickly. This one was quick, but I liked it. I didn't mind it so much.
Tegan needs a green card wedding so she can stay in the states. She has nothing to go back to Australia for. She is supposed to marry Chet, but he backs out at the last minute. Tegan initially blames Jamie as well...they can't stand each other. She assumes he said or did something to make Chet change his mind the night before the wedding. Since she is not getting her green card wedding she resolves herself to moving back to Australia until she can figure some way to come back.
Jamie doesn't know how to talk to women. He never seems to say much around them, which is usually not an issue. Tegan calls him out on his lack of conversation and they have a fun argumentative relationship. They never seem to hang out one on one in the two years they have known each other. Chet is always there as well as they are all friends. When Chet reveals his big secret and leaves to go visit his family Jamie and Tegan find themselves alone together for the first time. They realize maybe they don't hate each other. Maybe they like the argumentative relationship they have had for the past two years.
Once they get together things do move quickly, but I liked it. They were cute together and they worked. I enjoyed this story.
Tegan Ash has to get married so she can stay in the United States. She's got nothing waiting for her at home in Australia and she's got a groom ready to go until he backs out. Tegan thinks Chet changed his mind because of his best friend Jamie. They've never gotten along until Chet, the thread that ties them together is no longer the buffer between them. Jamie feels bad for Ash and wants to help her especially since his best pal let her down...
Novellas aren't very long and if you're lucky the one you're reading is written very well so you get the whole story in a small number of pages. Lillian Darcy is veteran author and this novella doesn't disappoint.
Tegan is let brutally down when Chet backs out at the altar but she realizes what she was asking of him was too much to ask from anyone. When Chet reveals his reasons for saying no at the last minute, Tegan is astounded by the maturity Jamie shows especially when she didn't think he was capable. Jamie's view of Tegan changes when he sees her stripped of the shield she wears.
Seeing Tegan and Jamie really see each other for the first time was wonderful. Watching them come to grips with the personal hurdles and try to cross them so that they be together was great; most couples these days give up the moment they come across obstacles. The chemistry between was smoking as well.
I'm loving these Montana Born stories. I'm sure you will as well.
