Anne is a novelist, entrepreneur and when she can find the time: wife.
Her love of historical fiction, writing, and romance encouraged her to dive head first into the world of publishing. With a cup of warm coffee by her side and her dog at her feet, she can be found at her desk writing late into the night.
"He’s my only son. A treasure to be protected.” ― Anne R. Bailey, The Lady Ursula
I forgot this one too! I am forgetting to do reviews! Oh nooo!
Honestly, sometimes it just happens.
Anyway -- this was a dnf for me, but not because it was bad. I ADORE the enthralling cover! Did read enough for a review, which I'll do later.
I just appear to be having a tough time getting into history around this particular subject matter. I don't know why. It keeps happening with this specific type of historical fiction. But if you're interested you should read. The writing is good. Ursula is an interesting character.
While an interesting story, I found the characters were not easy to like. It wasn't until half way through the novel that I felt that Ursula was more relatable than she had started out being. The story was interesting in the fact that it told the story of Ursula and her husband, which honestly I knew about his father but not so much about him. It was a quick read and enjoyable for such a short story.
Another Strong Medieval Woman Who Conquers Her Challenges
I enjoyed the storyline and the character development in this book, as the main character struggled to make the best of the fate of her family by marriage. The era of King Henry the VIII never fails to be of interest as the stories of the various families of the English nobilty are affected and manipulated by the whims of the King. Students of that era will surely enjoy this one.
I truly enjoyed this book but it just came to such an abrupt ending. I loved the series and Anne Bailey is one of my favorite authors. Ursula was an interesting woman and at first I didn't care for her as I thought she was so petty but she grew on me as I watched her mature through the book. I'm sorry the series has ended.
I was both excited and saddened to read this new book. Excited because I have loved this series and saddened that it is the final one. Lady Ursula is different from the other ladies of the series because despite her famous lineage, she never spent any time at court. This story begins in 1518 so it covers some of the most important people and events in Tudor history. I have so enjoyed reading all of the series by Anne Bailey because she highlights the women of the period, giving the reader a different perspective from the typical patriarchal record. I'm ready for a new series now, Ms Bailey.
