excellent

I can’t believe it’s the end,, what a ride it’s been with Sophie, Mac, Ruby, Larry, Birdie, and all the odd ones. With one final mission to find out who she really is, the shocking identity of her parentage just may turn the tides on the war. Heroes fall, 😭😭😭 some were soooo sad,, ughhhh but overall it was a great finale to the series.

4.5 stars.

I had a great time with this series. Love the found family and real family interactions and the love interest and the story.

However, the way this series concludes might be too perfect. I totally recommend the series but I probably won't reread.

This last installment goes epic. It reminds me of how the Kate Daniels series concludes with her being the daughter of a super powerful king. As much as the explanation makes sense of everything, it also makes me not want to re-read the series.

I like the human struggle part much more than the "because I'm the daughter of a godlike king" stuff.

But I can also see how this would set up a world for more stories.

What a conclusion! The Great Mother has told Sophie and Ruby that they must find their mother to help end the coming war with Queen Maeve. The only problem is that their mother has been dead for hundreds of years. Tracking down their lead takes them to Ireland in their search, but will they find her in time? Meave is finally ready to make her move to conquer Earth. And she will stop at nothing to try to keep Sophie out it.
Sophie and Ruby real it pull it together in this book! Sophie has a more difficult time coming to terms with her magic than Ruby. She has been thrown for a loop and it still trying to wrap her head around everything she has found out. And as much as love Sophie, I adore Ruby! Who knew her perpetually cheery nature would eventually wear me down and make me love her! These 2 are really the best parts of the 5 shards in my opinion!
This book was full of amazing world building, Irish lore and of course battles. There are secrets revealed, and we finally get to know who Sophie and Ruby really are. And let's just say it was a surprise! The whole team of Odd Ones, including Bertie are tested. All of the Odd Ones are such wonderful additions to this story! (Esp Bertie, she is such a fun, dirty old lady!) This was the perfect conclusion to a wonderful series! I'm looking forward to listening to more books in this world by this author!

I don’t usually use this but OMG, what a great book and finish to the series.
The last book ended with a phone call from the Great Mother advising Sophie and Ruby that they must talk to their dead mother. The problem is, no one has any idea who that may be, no name, no time frame, no location, absolutely nothing.
While Maeve is invading the Earth realm, Sophie and friends are trying to find out about her history. With a little luck, the search is narrowed down to Ireland.
Surprisingly they actually get somewhere in Ireland and discover both their mother and father. That’s just the beginning.
There is a lot happening in this book and it is just awesome. There is action, the usual suspense, some big surprises, humour, it has everything you could want.
From the first book, where I wasn’t sure what I was getting into, up to this finale, this series just got better and better. The characters are real, interesting and entertaining. The interactions between them are a big part of the book and definitely bump it up in enjoyment.
This is a series I will highly recommend. I loved it.

Excellent ending to the series

With the Fae Queen on the warpath, Sophie and Ruby have to find out everything they can in order to prevent their ‘sister’ shard from helping her.
It’s coming down to a battle; meanwhile they have to find the answers in their own past…

This one was so intense; make sure to have a handkerchief handy, and plenty of time to read because you won’t want to put it down, and it definitely delivers!

This brings Sophie’s story to an epic conclusion, one that is sure to bring a smile to your face. The story that has built up through the last four books, ends with a bang, as we finally get all the answers, and there are some shockers in them. There are some intense scenes, plus some scenes that are so incredibly satisfying that I know I just grinned in triumph when I read them.
It makes for a very fulfilling, and enjoyable story well worth the read. Highly recommended for Urban Fantasy lovers.

I have listened to the audio version of this book and series.
When an almost down and out Sophie Feegle interrupts a large dog as it worries an Oppossum in a San Francisco alleyway little does she know it's the start of a thrilling rollercoaster ride of discovery for her. A really enjoyable series with a cast of great characters each with their own quirks. Surrounded by dead bodies, shifters, ogres and other non-human creatures it's not long before Sophie realises that she too is not the person she believed herself to be. As the story unfolds each character comes in to it's own be it mythical or human. The series is well paced and keeps the listener gripped throughout. In this final instalment "Sophie must face her own fears and embrace her newfound abilities" to save her beloved San Francisco from the forces of darkness and evil.
Janine Granda did a great job of the narration with her many voices and dramatic delivery. Overall a highly Recommended listen.

If I could give this book ten stars instead of five I would. It's one of the best books I have read in a long time, definitely having a Lord of the Rings feel to it, realistic action, mythology, friendship and a wonderful part where Sophie finally gets to meet her (dead) parents.

There's valuable input from The Great Mother, a trip to Ireland and its mythology, a wonderful 'where do they go after they die' part and an amazing section where an army of the dead is raised to travel to Earth and deal with Queen Maeve once and for all.

Then there's a part about what will happen now that people on Earth know that mythological characters aren't so mythological after all. Will there be acceptance or almost never-ending violence?

To add to all that there's even a very important section involving Mac and Ruby that takes place somewhat later.

It's a MUST read.

I've loved this series from the very first book and whilst with each one the stakes got progressively higher, this the last still retained it's quirky charm and warm characters. Big events happened in this book, big world changing events, not just for Sophie and the Odd Ones but for the whole world she lives in. I would love to know if the author is going to continue the world with someone else, because I would be there for it. Sophie's story stayed unique and whilst the fae have never been my favourite group to read about in supernatural books, the world and story was compelling and once I picked it up I literally couldn't stop, staying up late in the night to finish it. A great end to a great series.

Audiobook: I was as entertained by book 5 of the "Sophie Feegle" series as I was with the first four books. Per the instructions delivered in a cryptic message from the "Great Mother", Sophie had to search out her own past. In the meantime, Queen Maeve was creating her hybrid army in preparation to attack San Francisco. I admired Sophie's journey. The characters were memorable. I liked the way that all the threads were woven together to end this enjoyable series. Janine Granda's narration was delightful, and her performance added to my enjoyment of the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Odds On Favorite!

SophieFeegle5

As a series finale, this was fabulous!

Sophie found out who the shard source was in Against All Odds; and it shocked her. But they still need an origin story … and, this is it.

O&E is part treasure, part scavenger hunt. The only one who knows most of the answers is in another realm, and not disposed to providing information. But, Sophie and Ruby get by with a little help from their friends, especially in their dreams.

If you can guess the ending, good on you! I enjoyed the unfolding juggernaut and held on for the ride.

This was so much fun!

I love the Odd Ones!

This is one of the best series out there. Thank you, Gwen DeMarco, for creating such quirky, snarky, endearing characters. It has been a wild ride from beginning to end, from book to book. I have never waited so impatiently for a next book to come out, or felt so sad to see a story end, though it ended masterfully. There were no loose ends and I felt satisfied at the natural ending. Yes, there could be spin-offs, and they would be most welcome, but I don't feel deprived of anything at this point and to me, that is the mark of a good story, well told.

Stellar ending to a wonderful series!

It's sad when a favorite series ends. This ending, however, makes up for the sadness with an inventive and intriguing story that's well written, finally gives answers all of our questions, and has a great sense of humor. It may even be one of the best series endings I've read! The characters are easy to adore and the dialog brings us into the story. Well done, Gwen DeMarco!

What a satisfying end to the series

When I first got this book. I thought it was a little odd. :-) But I really enjoyed it and got the rest as soon as they came out. I'm sorry to see it end. But of course I hope that Gwen DeMarco writes many more. I will probably reread all of these many times.

This book is my favourite of the series. All the pieces fall into place for Sophie and Ruby. This series deserves ten stars. Ms. DeMarco enraptured me with her scintillating and mesmerizing storyline, characters and non-stop action of paranormal battling between good versus evil. The phenomenal talents of Janine Granda brings this audiobook to life.

BRILLIANT!!

Just finished reading all five books and loved every one of them!
The characters are so diverse, the friendships and the love between all of them is how we non fictional should be!
We all have different personas within ourselves so the idea of splitting one person into 5 was inspired.

Loved it!!! Action packed, Fantastic engaging story.

What a story. Kept me thoroughly engaged throughout the series. See Sophie a 'human' come to terms with her gift of seeing the deads final moments and watching her grow as a person. Twists and turns a plenty. Character and world development really makes this series one to be added to my reread pile.

This whole series is fascinating, culminating in an incredible story's end with this book. There are many surprises, so much story development, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It would be massive spoilers to say more! Excellent urban fantasy ranging from San Francisco to Ireland in this tale. Highly recommend!

Excellent finish to a superb series. Sophie and Ruby are brilliant. Ruby is, for me, the true hero because she has to go through all the horrors while her lover is on another battlefront but Sophie has Mac with her almost the whole time.
I'm going to read some more Gwen DeMarco.

Spoiler alert, (epilogue) shame on you Mac, waiting almost three years to propose to Sophie.

This was a great ending to this series! While I am so sad to say good bye to this group, I’d love to maybe see a spin-off series?? So much happened in this book and I just don’t want to leave this world, ever!! :)

Loved the series

Full of great characters, stories and adventures. I think it's taken me a couple of weeks to read all five stories. And having to remind myself to put the book down to do something around the house, or cook dinner or go to bed.

ok

The main cast get their HEA. This felt a little rushed in revealing plot lines to resolve the series. Too many characters to spend in depth time with them so not as satisfying as the first few
