BOOM! ...... yeah! This is what I'm talking about! This was a perfect example of old school story meeting the matching artwork. I loved that it was an extended edition and a satisfying amount of the story played out. To cap the perfect read off this is currently (June 2022) a freebie on Google Books.
"They gave me eight years for the robbery, and seven for attacking the cops. yesterday I was planning a new life with the woman i loved, I could still taste her lips. Still smell her hair. But even now, I could fee l her fading like a banshee into the darkness of my mind." Bullshit! the show is one of the best TV shows ever, and this was rubbish. Although this was written by the same people who done the series you wouldn't have thought it, the characters personalities were completely different, the are was poor, all the male characters looked the same and I just hated it, the only good thing was the last few pages, faux newspaper articles about the town, but yeah, dont bother with this, most of this is in the series also...1🌟
I have watched a few episodes of Banshee, so I was prepared for this story. I enjoyed it, getting a first look at these characters. Are there other Banshee comics?
There are not a lot of books out there with Drag Queen hackers in them, so I kind of had to read this one! It's a decent book, though not one I would have picked up without the promise of the aforementioned hacker.
The comic seemed to be a no brainer since I was going to watch the show. As I read it I enjoyed it, and it seemed to set up the situation and the characters and give me a sense of what it was all going to be about. There were also webisodes to go along with the show and as a package I loved the multimedia approach this show had.
The comic art was good and the story had an energy that moved along at a good clip and felt as thought I would have enjoyed it regardless if I were getting ready to watch a show or not.
Awesome to see the characters I love again. Banshee is one of my top TV shows of all time and to read a prequel is awesome. Nothing you don't already know watching the show, but a great read regardless.
This comic adds absolutely nothing extra towards the show, all this within the comic has already been shown in flashbacks in the show, I would avoid this if I were you. Waste of time and money.
So are we just gonna ignore how the woman left behind the child father to rot in prison and decided to pursue a new life with another man. If you ask me? I can't!!
This is another free comic I got from the website Comixology during the weekend of SXSW. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting into when I downloaded it. I just saw that the IDW logo was in the top corner and I've liked everything that I've read from that publishing company so far. Of course, that only includes the Locke and Key series and X-Files season 10 volume 1. Since I only have a small sampling of the stuff IDW puts out I decided to see what this was. It wasn't until the introduction of the book that I realized this was based off of a TV series. I've never seen Banshee and never really heard much about it. I like the actress Ivana Milicevic and I know that she is on the show and I have it on my to watch list on imdb.com, but that's about the only things I know about the series. I am intrigued by what I saw here and will eventually get around to watching the series on Netflix or something.
The art is like a lot of stuff that is based off of TV series or movies that Dark Horse Comics has put out over the years. I'm not abig fan of that art style, but since it was free I can't complain too much. This gets 3.5 stars from me. I don't know if there are any other comics out there based on this series and I'm not in a huge hurry to seek them out. If I stumble upon some in the bargain bin somewhere I might give them a shot.
I read this at random without actually knowing what it was -- I've never heard of the TV series that it ties in with, and I was expecting horror rather than crime drama. I can't say that I found it especially interesting, but perhaps I would have liked it more if it were a genre that I enjoyed more, or if I had more awareness of the context.
I haven't heard of the television show that this comic serves as prologue to but I need to hunt it down. This book kept me on the edge and there's a twist I didn't see coming.
