I was pleasantly surprised by this read, it had more substance than I originally expected. It's a story about fulfilling one's sexual fantasies, but also about stepping outside your comfort zone, challenging yourself and finding love!
I loved the interaction and camaraderie between Gia, Sara, Caryn and Jessa, the four women who created the Girlz Guide to a Rockin' Life and friends since their college days. They encourage and support Gia’s decision to seduce her fantasy man, Luke Monroe, and help her to create her alter ego...Vanna!
Gia has some preconceived notions about Luke, but not is all as it seems. She comes to find that this beautiful man, who has women at his beck and call, is so much more than a pretty face and a hot body. He's also very charming and sweet. Gia lures him in as Vanna, but Luke sees past her sexy fabricated exterior and finds that he likes the woman beneath all the glitz and glamour. That was the beauty of this book, the two of them discovering how much they enjoyed each other's company, and how they connected on a more personal level and come to the realization that they both want more. It was in these moments however, that I would have liked more dialogue between Gia and Luke. We got into their heads quite a bit, but more words between them and less narrative would have been better...I love dialogue. But to be fair, there is some great dialogue between them towards the end of the book.
It's not what I would consider an erotic read, but it's definitely very steamy...the author knows her way around a sex scene...no doubt about that. Gia and Luke sizzle together, but you can definitely feel something more going on between them than just sex.
For a novella, it had all the makings of a very full read. There was depth to the main characters and the story progressed quite nicely, with more than one element playing into the plot. As I said, this was as much about self-discovery as it was about sexual fantasies.
I think this could be the start of an awesome series. I hope that Tawny Weber is considering writing books about Gia's friends. I would love to visit with them again, see them each featured in their own books and adding entries to the Girlz Guide. Plus, it would be a great opportunity to catch up with Gia and Luke, who by the end of this book, are on their way to a happily ever after, and I would love a peek into their lives!

Gia Renyard wants a sexual fantasy weekend with her hot coworker, Luke Monroe, so her friends help her plan how to make it happen. When he’s in Vegas for a convention she shows up in disguise as Vanna and seduces him into her bed. But will reality live up to fantasy?
The sex is hot, but the rest of the story is lukewarm. Neither Gia or Luke impressed me. I really didn’t care about either one of them. It may have been because the story was short, but golden boy Luke and geeky Gia just didn’t strike the right notes with me. Plus, their hot sex in Vegas confused me. How long were they in the hotel room? Just one night? They sure went at it like crazy for such a short time. And if they were there longer (like that night, the next day and night) and Luke was supposed to be at a convention talking up the products why didn’t anyone report him missing? So, if it’s just the one short night, Gia & Luke realize they’re head over heels in love in just a few short hours. They had time for all that sweaty sex AND hours of serious talking. Sorry, it just bugs the crap outta me. I had a hard time with the timeline. Anyway, not badly written, just not my thing.

It’s the first book I read from this author who is translated in French at Harlequin for its Audace imprint. Fearless is presented as a standalone but there is potential for a series of at least three volumes as the heroine is one of four close friends: Caryn, who likes men, Sara, who is bisexual, Jessa, who is married to the man of her dreams, and Gia Reynard (our heroine). The aim is to Rock Their Life and the group’s name is The Girlz Guide to a Rockin’ Life. The four friends even wrote their guide that they seem to be following to the letter and that they update when needed. The hero’s best friend could also become a good main character. Wait and see.
In any case, I really liked Fearless. A little drawback for the number of sex scenes which are a quite too many for me even if they don’t override the story. I’m not a big fan of what gravitates toward erotica, except for some unavoidable authors. But it’s a really small negative point because the scenes are well described.
The main characters are really likeable. Gia has completely fallen for the hero, Luke Monroe, and thinks she’s too plain to attract his attention. She takes advantage of a weekend in Las Vegas to satisfy all her fantasies with him.
One can say the novel has two parts: the first concerns the setting up and implementation of the “satisfy her fantasies” project; the second speaks of coming back to reality and how the heroes will have their happy ending.
Each part is really interesting and well exploited by the author. I especially loved the constant humor of the second part. What’s more, when I closed the book, I believed in their couple, which is a really good point, especially since the novel is short.
To conclude, this book could please you because the ingredients are gathered for having a good time. However, for those who like conflicts, be on your way.
A girl has to have her best friends, and Gia Renyard is no exception. Gia and her besties met in a college class, and the bond has never broken. The Girlz meet every few weeks for a ladies night and all it entails. Caryn is known for her sexy hookups, and loves to tell all . Jesse went on a Carribean cruise, met her soulmate brought him home and married him. Sara is the Drama Queen, from love to heartbreak and back again. Then there's Gia. "Good ole average Gia. Dependable, nice, cute. Not phenomenal. Not horrible. Just average. Average sucked." Gia wanted a wild sexual fling, no strings, no inhibitions, caution to the wind. Something she can look back on when she's living her average life. The Girlz have the plans, Gia has a guy in mind. A very sexy co-worker. Vegas , here she comes.
Luke Monroe is not your average guy. Drop dead gorgeous, intelligent and "Bored with his job, bored with himself. Hell, he was even bored with his sex life." He was used to having women throw themselves at him, with no effort on his part. He wanted something different. He is in Vegas for a working weekend, at a club with his best friend Matt. In walks a woman, long red hair, long legs and a pair of killer heels. He was in lust. Vanna was her name, and despite a tiny niggling thought he had seen her before, he was not letting her out of his sight. Except when he woke up Sunday morning and reached for her she was gone! No note, nothing to even show she had been there at all. But Luke remembered every very sexy moment.
There is lots of laughter, some very sizzling scenes, and of course a sweet Happily Ever After. I enjoyed this book so much, and hope there are more adventures from the Girlz Guide to Gettin' It.
This story was hit and miss for me. The "Girlz" club and the fact that when they help each other out they call making a plan "gettin' it"... It just made me feel old. (And I'm not that old.) I think it just seemed a little ridiculous, and that pulled me out of the story.
I did enjoy the parts where Gia/Vanna and Luke got together in Vegas. I just wanted to see more of them. We were *told* they talked a lot about personal stuff, but it was all off page. The sex was hot, but transitions (not the sexual kind) from scene to scene were awkward. I would have to reread to understand... Ok, there was just one scene on page, and now we've skipped to the afterglow of time #4 of having sex.
I was also disappointed by Gia's behavior back at work. I know the no fraternization policy was presented as the reason they couldn't get together, but it didn't seem to stop anyone else. Her behavior just didn't make much sense.
So, I guess it was more miss than hit.
Finally, this was my first Cosmo Red Hot Read and I had high expectations of it. I enjoy novellas and I enjoy hotter more explicit reads, so this seemed like a good match. I want to mention that while this one didn't work for me, I adored Cake by Lauren Dane. So I will not be judging all Cosmo Red Hot Reads by this one.
When I heard Harlequin was doing Cosmo Red Hot reads, I was intrigued. I wondered how they would compare to the regular Harlequin blazes. I was concerned they would not have a good story. Well, Fearless put those concerns to bed (pardon the pun). This was a fast paced book, full of sexy fun and great heat between the two characters.
Gia wants to cut loose and have a memory. Luke is her crush. When they meet in Vegas, with Gia masking her appearance because she feels she could never get someone like Luke, its instant heat and flames. After a sexy fun filled weekend, that turns out to be more than great sex and fireworks, Gia sneaks off and returns to the real world.
But the weekend has consequences. Both of them see themselves and each other in a different light. When they meet again on a work assignment, Luke does not recognize Gia and Gia, still self-conscious, hides her true self.
I won’t share the rest but I loved the arc of finding and accepting who you are and being true to yourself. A message I never expected to find in such a fun, sexy, fast-paced read. I hope she does spin-offs with the other characters!!!
This book rocks it is sexy hot and very sensual as Gia helped by her girlfriends plans a weekend in Las Vegas to have the fantasy of her life with the totaly hot Luke. Luke is the type of guy that everythings seems to come to but life is not much of a challenge to him anymore and when he spots Gia in the club in Vegas he is drawn to her. The long night together is Gia's true fantasty orgasms a plenty but they also talk and feel so comfortable and right with each other Luke is amazed that Gia understands him and makes him work for the perfect night together. But when he wakes and Gia has fled he is shocked no one has ever done that to him before. Then back at work for the same company things really get worrisome as Gia tries to hide from Luke thinking that he will not go for the plain Gia and recognize her as the Vanna from Vegas. But Gia is in Luke's blood and when he realizes who Gia is he wants her and wants her badly. This book is a fantastic story that I could not put down it has everything that you want in a great story I so loved it and highly recommend it.
This book is about having the courage to take the chance and to go out of your comfort zone. I lived vicariously through Gia. This book was hot, to me hotter than Tawny has ever gone before. I loved it! The only thing that bugged me was the love scenes; the characters talked about doing certain fantasies, but we didn't see them put it into action. We got the after talk and feelings, don't get me wrong I like those parts, but I just bugs be a little when it's not delivered/ followed through. No way shape or form did that take away from the book. I loved Gia's fiends they're a mix bag, but boy are they entertaining. The one thing I love moat about them is that they're there for Gia if not to push her, but to lend a listening ear. Gia feels she has to become this seductress in order to get her fantasy man (her coworker who has no idea who she is). The plan works out great, but you know about the best laid plans. What happens when that Vegas fling doesn't stay in Vegas it follows you home to your job? Well Gia gets to experience that. Can Luke and Gia's fling turn into more?
As I’ve been making my way through the Cosmo Red-Hot Reads, I’ve had a range of reading experiences from good but with a weird looking love interest to WTF did I just read. Yet, I keep plugging away with the hopes that one of these novellas will provide me with an awesome story and an awesome love interest. Fearless by Tawny Weber totally delivered. It’s youthful. It’s fun. The love interest isn’t a weirdo. The writing isn’t godawful. The main character is cool and her group of girl friends are awesome. Sure there’s some familiar tropes, but this novella is my favorite so far from the Cosmo Red-Hot Reads line. Read the rest of my review here
Fearless by Tawny Weber was an intriguing read - I found the premise to be interesting, but it turned out a bit different that what I was anticipating. The characters were interesting, but the fact that Gia had to to go through this drastic disguise to get Luke was what kept me from loving it. Luke was a great character.
I liked this! This book did not pretend to be anything it wasn't. She wanted to write some hot sex, so she came up with a very small plot to put the sex in and then went to town.
The plot wasn't much (it really could have been fleshed out into a whole book in my opinion) and the characters were a little stereotypical in ways (which is often the case with novellas since they have so little time to work with) but in the end, it was a fun read.
I commented to someone that it was like reading a really long Penthouse letter. Is that even still around?
So totally read this if you're looking for a light read with really hot and steamy, consensual sex (the one part where I was briefly worried it wasn't going to be consensual, the male lead then realized it himself and made a point to ask if she wanted to leave - she did not :D ).

This sexy novella is about creating an alter ego to seduce the unreachable man of your dreams. The seduction is meant to be for just one weekend, because in real life the hot guy would never look twice at the common girl beneath the fantasy seductress alter ego. Also, the guy is supposed to move to the other side of the country. Well, that's what Gia thinks anyway. But guess what, she's wrong, on both parts.
Luke is Gia's crush, but Gia thinks he's out of her league because he can have every woman he wants and she's just a shy and common girl. When she and her three girlfriends have a 'girlz' night they come up with a plan for Gia to have her sexual adventure with Luke before he leaves their company for a new job. They give her a makeover and turn her into a hot and sexy woman. Now, this is the part where I started to have my doubts about the set-up. Maybe it's the silent feminist in me that finds this a bit sexist or maybe I'm just not a fan of deception between the main characters, no matter how innocent. I don't know exactly, but I kept wondering why the heroine needed hair extensions, a dye job and a fake name, among other things, and why she could not just do the seducing as herself. Apart from that, I also thought that the idea of the 'girlz' club felt a bit too teenage-y and shallow. Gia's girlfriends didn't feel as real friends to me, perhaps because they hardly get any on-page time after this set-up, except for one of the friends later on.
Anyhow, the seduction takes place in Las Vegas and is, unsurprisingly, a great success. Luke lives up to his reputation, and more, in the bedroom. Gia discovers that he's not only hot but very kind and sweet too. The author is a master in writing sex scenes and mixing them with emotions, although we don't get every detail of their fantasy weekend together spelled out. Thankfully so, because that would have been exhausting considering I lost count on how many orgasms they shared. Needless to say, this part of the story is sizzling hot. It's also the part of the plot where a connection between the main characters starts to bloom. They talk a lot, but again we don't get to read all of those conversations in detail, we're just told a few times that they talked. One important topic they talked about is written in dialogue though; it's about Luke getting bored easily and Gia's observation that he needs to challenge himself more. This is also beautifully translated into a sex scene. And it's the base for their connection; at least it's what Luke finds attractive in Gia. I thought it was a believable emotional development, which didn't feel as a rushed falling in love.
I'm not sure though about the actual falling in love part, later on, after Luke discovers Gia's true identity. Luke and Gia unexpectedly have to work on a project together after they return from their weekend of debauchery and Gia is trying to avoid Luke as much as possible to prevent discovery. However, a pair of red shoes adds a touch of Cinderella theme to their romance when the shoes give her away. Once Luke has found his Cinderella there's no room for anger, doubts or other negative feelings. The only thing that counts is that he has found her and wants his HEA with her, like a true fairy tale. I felt that this last part could've gotten a bit more weight. It felt light and easy, which is not necessarily a bad thing, and given the fact that this is a novella it's rather fitting too, but for me a smooth and rushed ending like that is not as satisfying as an ending where the characters have to work a bit harder to get what they want. I like to feel more tension and to see them go through some emotional struggles. But, maybe that's just me.
Overall, this novella turned out to be an entertaining, scorching and sweet read, after my initial reservations about the need for a makeover for Gia. It's a fast-paced and sexy story without much tension or angst, with a cute and happy ending that was a little too light for my taste but which fits the nature of this format. Definitely a great read for when you're in the mood for quick & dirty and sweet & sexy all in one.

A Girlz Guide to a Rockin' Life Words of Wisdom...When life gives you lemons, make yourself a whiskey sour and read a good book.
Okay, so that might not be true words of wisdom from the Girlz Guide, but I needed a fun opener for the review and I figured, it worked for the author of this novella, so why not give it a shot?
Fearless is a fun, quick read about a young woman named Gia, who feels like she simply can't complete with the raunchy stories her three best friends tell about their adventurous sex lives. She wants a story of her own! A wild weekend of mind-blowing sex because, well, what girl wouldn't want that kind of story? But she feels like she's just not that kind of girl, so she asks her Girlz for help. They come up with a plan for Gia to disguise herself in order to seduce the pants off of Luke Monroe (literally), a hottie coworker she's been eyeing (and who, coincidentally, will be transferring jobs soon!). The plan is for no-strings-attached, anonymous, wild, fantasy sex on a Vegas weekend during a work conference Luke will be attending.
Luke Monroe is one of those guys who's always had things go easily for him. He's effortlessly excellent at his job, and he's never had to try too hard to land and please a woman. So when he meets gorgeous and mysterious Vanna, agreeing to some fantasy sex is almost a no-brainer. But after an amazing night where she challenges him like few others ever have, she disappears while he's passed out from exhaustion, and he finds himself…discontent. Suddenly changing jobs doesn't promise an alleviation from his boredom, so he decides to stick around and try something else.
Which means now Gia has to worry about him discovering that his coworker is his mysterious Vanna, and there's also that whole fraternization clause in the employee contract that might cost her a job.
Not to mention the whole hiccup where it turns out, she actually likes Luke. Really likes him. That was definitely not part of the plan.
I really enjoyed this novella. It was wonderful to see four female friends who supported one another with absolutely no cattiness. Even Caryn, the character who was least inclined toward serious relationships (or seemed to be), urged Gia to face her feelings for Luke and do something about them. None of the girls tease Gia about her desire for a fun weekend, or shame her for her fantasies. There was none of that passive-aggressive that occurs sometimes when authors tackle female friendships. This felt like a solid foursome of women who genuinely liked and cared for one another, with no desire to elevate themselves by putting the others down.
I also appreciated that Gia's transformation into Vanna was not an effort for her to "earn" the guy's love and affection, but rather a disguise for her to enact her own sexual autonomy. She felt liberated in the disguise, sure, but not necessarily because she felt more attractive. More because it felt like a way for her to be free of consequences she would otherwise distract herself with. Becoming Vanna was not about making her "worthy" of Luke, but rather about letting herself be free of the Gia-reasons to not go after him.
Additionally, her transformation had the pleasant effect of allowing Gia to discover that, even without the disguise, she's pretty awesome. She was able to uncover her confidence even after washing the dye out of her hair, and this enabled her to take the steps necessary that landed her a promotion at work. Gia-as-Vanna also became a catalyst in Luke's growth, sparking him out of his slump, inspiring him to pursue challenges, rather than just skate by in life.
Some parts of the story felt a little rushed--this is another instance where we're told there is attraction rather than being shown it, but I found myself forgiving this, given the way in which the story opened. We were sitting in on a Girlz night, and received the information just as Gia's friends did. I felt like Luke could have been better developed--to me he came off as a little bit all over the place, but this might have been deliberate, given that he was at a point in his life where he wasn't sure of his direction and where he should go in his life.
The ending was a little over the top for me, considering we'd just spent the entire story with Gia fretting about what the discovery of her liaison with Luke would do for her career, but it fit with the story, the theme, and I would be lying if I tried to say I didn't finish this book with a smile on my face.
A sizzling hot read, which I actually rated at 4.5! Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:
Network engineer Gia Renyard met her three friends when they were randomly grouped together years ago in college for an assignment in their marketing class. Their task had been to create a useful tool that appealed to a particular market segment. Complete opposites, the girls soon found they have one thing in common; a need to shake up their lives. With that, the Girlz Guide to a Rockin’ Life was born. It gave Gia her three best friends, as well as, a philosophy for life. Since college, the four friends get together for a Girlz night every few weeks, even occasionally updating their guide. Gia has been working hard lately hoping to gain a promotion. She has everything she could want; amazing friends, a wonderful apartment, a great job, but there is something missing. Unlike her three friends, Gia has no social life to speak of and listening to her mother speak of Gia’s two sisters’ exploits without inquiring about hers leaves Gia even more depressed. Although Gia has had sexual experiences, none of them involved adventure like those experienced by her friends…no kink, no scarves, nothing out of the ordinary. She longs for one sexual adventure…with one particular man, her coworker Luke Monroe.
During a girl’s night, Gia lets her fantasy slip and soon her friends are brainstorming to help her form a plan to make her dream come true. And she has just discovered that her time may be short as Luke may be leaving the company, which also makes him the ideal candidate since she won’t have to face him afterwards. With the help of her friends, a makeover, a new name – Vanna - and a trip to Las Vegas, she plans to have a weekend to remember…that is, if she can overcome her inhibitions.
Luke Monroe does his job well, but it is getting boring. Even having women dropping in his lap is losing its appeal. So he is considering taking a higher paying position with another company, even though it will mean being constantly on the road. Scheduled to work in Las Vegas over the weekend at a sales convention, he has no desire to hook up with anyone, but that is before he gets a glimpse of Vanna.
Using a pseudonym and looking completely different, Gia begins to give in to her wild side, especially when she realizes that Luke does not recognize her. After an unforgettable weekend, Gia sneaks off while Luke is still asleep and returns home. Meanwhile, upon awakening, Luke is furious to discover that the only woman who has ever challenged him has left without a word, leaving him no way to contact her.
When Gia arrives home, she realizes that she wants more with Luke. She has fallen for him, but she figures she is too plain to gain his attention. However, when she discovers that she is being given a new assignment on a step closer to her promotion, she is ecstatic…until she discovers that Luke is her new boss and he is not leaving the company after all. Will she be able to keep her dual identity a secret, or will she fight for what she wants?
Hot, hot, hot! FEARLESS, the latest novel by USA Today bestselling author Tawny Weber, is a clever, sensual contemporary erotic romance that readers will find hard to put down. I loved the idea of the four friends who are always there for each other, and although Gia is a part of the group, her vulnerability shows through as she tries to measure up to her three friends. I enjoyed watching as Luke and Gia try to overcome the fallout from their weekend together. The chemistry between them is explosive, but they connect in more ways than just sex during their weekend together, which makes it doubly hard for Gia to move on.
The sassy banter, intriguing plot, engaging characters, scorching hot passion, romance and tender love combine to give readers an unforgettable story. Although I hated to see this story end, it has whet my appetite for Ms. Weber’s next Cosmo Red Hot Read in the GIRLZ GUIDE TO GETTIN’ IT series entitled Fetish, which is due out in January 2014. If you are looking for a feisty, sexy story with plenty of humor, FEARLESS is the book for you. I highly recommend it!

There's just one thing missing from Gia Renyard's life: sexual adventure. And the one man she'd like to have it with is her hot coworker Luke Monroe. If only company rules didn't prohibit her from asking him out… So Gia comes up with a plan: make herself over into a fantasy seductress, follow Luke to a convention in Sin City and have her way with him for one erotic weekend. The man will never even know who did him.
Everything is going according to plan—until Gia discovers that Luke is perfect for her outside the bedroom, too. And suddenly she's no longer content to let what happens in Vegas stay in Vegas….
My Thoughts:
I haven't read any stories from Tawny Weber before so Fearless is my first work from this author and it was a pleasant surprise for me. I'm usually more reluctant to read new-to-me authors because I don't know what to expect from the author. However, I found myself not only enjoying the story, but Tawny's writing style as well.
Fearless was a fun story to get lost into. Gia considers herself boring and average. Therefore, she wants to do something spontaneous and outside of her comfort zone. She wants to live out her sexual fantasy of wild, no strings attached sex with her sexy coworker Luke Monroe. When she finds out that he'll be in Vegas, she decides that this is her chance to seduce Luke and have her fantasy fulfilled. Gone is the quiet and boring Gia and in her place is Vanna, the bold, wild and sexy seductress. Luke meets Vanna in Vegas and doesn't recognize her due to her new identity, but is instantly attracted to her. They end up having some hot sex, but once Vanna's fears begins to sink in she leaves Luke behind with no goodbye. What happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas, but Gia can't stop thinking about her time with Luke and how he's more than a hot body and great sex. After the Vegas fling and much to her shock she ends up working with Luke on a project at work. Luke doesn't recognize Gia as Vanna, but something about her draws him in. Soon, he realizes that Gia and Vanna are one and the same. Will they pick up where they left off in Vegas or will they go their separate ways due to their jobs? Read on to find out what happens!
Overall, Fearless was a satisfying read. Although the story was predictable I found myself glued to the pages even though it was obvious how things were going to work out. Little drama was thrown into this story which made this a light read. The intimate scenes were very, very sexy and well-written. The main and secondary characters featured in Fearless were charming and I hope each of Gia's girlfriends will get their own stories along with Luke's friend Matt. For a quick, fun, and enjoyable read I'd recommend picking up Fearless.
*I received a review copy from the publisher via Netgalley for an honest review.
Second half of the book was much more engaging than the first. I found the character development and return to reality more interesting than all of the bunny sex in Vegas. Go figure.

Review:
Fearless wasn’t my cup of tea, and it’s because I couldn’t relate to heroine Gia. She wants to have a sexual adventure, something to keep as a special memory, and oh, yeah, something to brag about with her friends. She has her sights set on co-worker Luke Monroe, and after learning that he’s going to be in Las Vegas for a convention, she gets a make-over, books a ticket, and flies out with one goal in mind; she’s going to seduce him. She doesn’t want him to know who she is for a couple of reasons, the most important being that she could get fired because dating a co-worker is against corporate policy.
The first half of the novella takes place in Gia’s hotel room after she’s enticed Luke to take the bait and follow her upstairs. I found it boring. There was zero character development to keep me reading, and I didn’t make a connection with either one of them. Then the weekend was over, and Gia had to give up the fantasy and head back to work. Suddenly, I was engaged in the plot. I guess it’s sad that I found her daily grind as a programmer more interesting than her sexy times with a virtual stranger in a hotel room in Vegas. Yeah.
It’s a nightmare come true when Gia is assigned to Luke’s development team for a new product. She has to keep things low key and she has to constantly avoid him for fear that he’ll figure out who she is. She has been working hard for a promotion, though, so she can’t turn the assignment down. If she gets through this, she will have that promotion, and that’s really everything that she’s worked for.
Luke is kicking himself for turning down a job offer with another company and taking a promotion instead. He’s under a lot of pressure to get this project completed in time, on budget, and on spec. He’s got one team member running laps around the rest, and he is impressed with Gia’ s performance and ability to think outside of the box. He’s puzzled why she is avoiding him and telecommuting, and as time goes by, he begins to suspect that maybe Gia is the hot fantasy woman who loved him and left in a Las Vegas hotel room.
I liked Luke better than Gia. He actually wanted to make a bit of a connection with Gia before hitting her hotel room, but she had no interest in small talk, so who could blame him for taking her up on her offer for hot, sweaty sex in her room? As he struggled to put two and two together, Gia managed to out-maneuver him, which only made him even more suspicious.
While it took a while to warm up to the story, I did enjoy the second half of Fearless. The beginning, though, left me unimpressed and without a connection to the story or the characters.
My Review: When I started this book I wasn't sure I was going to like it. It starts out with Gia and three of her friends in a set-up that is pure cheesiness with their little Girlz club and this guide to life they've written (while it provides the framework for Gia to do what she does, it felt a little too much like a junior high level club among bff's...ugh). I'm telling you right now, ignore that aspect of this book and you will love this book because the romance side of it is so good.
Gia has had a crush on one a guy who works at the same company as her. They don't work in the same department and he has no clue who she is. She's tired of being the one in her group of friends who never has a good sex story...or ANY sex story as the case may be since it's been forever since she hooked up. The rumor is that Luke is leaving the company, but he has a corporate meeting in Vegas coming up so she and her girlfriends plot to put her in his path that weekend. Gia truly just wants a super-hot sex and fantasy filled weekend with her fantasy guy, knowing that he's about to move away. Donning a complete new style featuring colored contacts, extensions, hair dye and makeup and clothes that she normally never wears (by day, this girl is a computer geek), she heads out to Vegas to seduce. It works...too well.
This book is so hot and so sexy...and in the end, the romance is so sweet. I fell in love! Here's just a tiny snippet so you can see how sexy this book is:
Luke's temperature spiked.
Horny as hell.
"Actually, my fantasy is of a sexual nature," she told him, a flash of nerves in her big brown eyes before her gaze locked on his mouth.
The nerves, as much as the fact that her stare was like a caress over his lips, were a major turn-on.
"You don't say. Is this a fantasy you'd like to share?"
"Maybe. With the right guy."
"What's it take to qualify?" Whatever it was, he'd do it.
"Imagination, boldness and the ability to follow directions top the list," she said. Then, as if testing the strength of the passion between them, she shifted closer so her full breasts brushed his chest. "What do you think? Are you up for the job?"
His body hitting a flame hotter than he'd ever felt with clothes on, Luke grinned at the woman in his arms.
"Babe, I'm all yours," he promised.
And it just gets hotter from there. This book was everything good in the smexy department. But like I said, the romance part of it really works too...just because neither one of these characters expect or want anything more. The second half of the book (when they aren't having wild sex) was riveting and made for such a good story.
I highly recommend this one. This was my first book that I've read by Tawny Weber. I can guarantee you that it won't be my last.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
When I saw the name "Tawny Weber" I immediately pulled up Goodreads and looked to see if I'd read anything by her before now. I had. I read a Christmas Harlequin Blaze in 2012 and gave it a solid three stars. This story had a premise I enjoy typically so I snatched it up and settled in to read.
Gia pretty much has everything going for her. She has friends, an apartment, a career she loves but something is missing. She has this huge crush on a co-worker but doesn't want the messy relationship at work. So, she flies to Vegas, dresses like a sexpot and seduces the crap out of him. After one amazing night she sneaks out the next morning leaving Luke looking for the woman he had the connection with. At work Luke starts to notice bookish Gia and can't help but compare her to the girl from Vegas.
This was the first Cosmo Red Hot Read I read and it didn't really sell me on the series. The plot sounded really neat with the girl getting all sexy and just seducing the man she wanted. The problem with it was how quickly it devolved into sex, sex, sex for the first half of the book. I'm more of a slow build kind of girl. I would have rather seen a great blind date and then him fall for the bookish girl before realizing she was the same woman (rom-com and all that). The sex sort of detracted from the story for me.
On the other hand, it was a spicy hot night of sex. I so rarely find sex scenes I read all the way through so it was a nice surprise. Usually sex scenes get kind of repetitive so I skim them. Luckily this one was fresh and sexy and I really enjoyed it even though it seemed way too early in the story for me.
I liked the concept of Gia and Luke. Both were brilliant and they worked with computers so that was kind of new. Gia was fascinating as a brilliant girl who never gets taken seriously. She wants a great love and she's willing to do what she can to get by. I respected her idea for seducing him but I rejected her cowardice. I hate that plot point. Own up to your mistakes or not but don't run and hide.
Like my issues with "Cake" the price is really detracting from picking this one up. I really think 1.99 is the sweet spot for these slightly shorter Harlequins. They're priced at 3.03 which is something I would never really buy unless I was trying to complete a series. If they were a bit cheaper then maybe. It was a decent enough read but way to expensive for monthly purchase. I can get the longer Harlequin-Presents for the same price so I'd rather spend my money there.

Shel: This novella is the perfect read for a rainy, cold afternoon. It's a super quick and entertaining read and something that can be finished in one sitting. Court: It is super fun and fairly low angst! We were ready for it!
Shel: The premise--Gia wants to have just one...ONE night of hot, lusty, unforgettable sex before she grows old and settles down but has never acted on it. Her best friends concoct a plan to help her live out her fantasy...the one catch? Gia wants this one night to be with a super-hot co-worker, Luke, and there is a no dating policy at her company..plus she's terrified of being laughed out of town. None of this stops her besties from putting the plan into play and one killer make over and name change later, and Gia finds herself living out her fantasy.
Court: I thought her plan was pretty out there and funny, and almost felt bad for her that it worked! Because he says such a man thing like "I would definitely remember you" but yet, he doesn't. That would suck...coming from your every fantasy. But that fact that it helps her become more confident and feel sexy about herself is awesome and I hoped that she would find a way to meet in the middle with that version and the version that she saw herself as!
Shel: After one hot fantasy filled night and Gia is thunderstruck with the reality that Luke may figure out who she is and that freaks her out (along with the actual feelings she finds herself feeling!), so she flees. Of course, the forces of nature work against her and she has to figure out how to navigate the suddenly uncomfortable working conditions around Luke and potentially job ending waters she now finds herself in. Will he figure it out and bust her? Can they pick up where they left off? Hmmmm.
Court: Hhhmmmmm indeed. It was less detailed sexy wise than I thought it would be, but their flashbacks after the fact were pretty hot. This is a fun novella, and is definitely one that is worth reading! Fearless was as much a quick journey to finding her sexual journey as finding herself. She fights to prove herself to move up in her job, and of course as with every novella I wanted more of Gia and Luke and her group of friends! They are fun and opinionated and totally have her back! Especially Caryn.
Shel: This is a fun read...not too deep...not something that's super angsty..more like one of those that you just find yourself entertained by and don't question too much how it would all REALLY happen, you just go with it! :) Court: Totally. I really enjoyed it!

this was a cute, quick read. There was steamy sex scenes, and a lot of drama, and true friendship.
O.K. i agree with a lot of people's review that this book is hard to follow. There is a lot of dialog that is hard to follow because it doesn't say who said it, so you have to like figure it out yourself.
This book is about a girl named Gia. She has 3 friends who she met in college. Together they wrote a book. its a girls guide. Well, one night during their girls night out Gia told her friends that she has a fantasy that she wants to fulfill. Her friends drilled her for information and they found out she wants to sleep with someone that she works with. His name is Luke. The only problem is that you cannot sleep with someone you work with unless you want to get fired. it is policy. So, Gia and her friends found a great plan.
Luke was in Vegas for the weekend on a business trip. Gia was going to go to Vegas dressed up as someone else, get the guy, have her weekend filled with sex and acted like nothing happened. Alright, Gia had a wig, plane ticket, and a weekend filled with sexy outfits. Now she was headed to the club to pick up the man.
Once Gia finally got Luke in her hotel she noticed that there was something about him that was special. He doesn't like one night stands. He loves to get to know a girl before he sleeps with them because the connection is what makes it romantic. That was his fantasy. She was in love. Well, needless to say she was able to convince Luke of her fantasy. She had a weekend full of great sex. She didn't know how to face him so she left him in the hotel room and rushed home.
So, whats not a book without some drama!! Gia gets a promotion at work, and is teamed up with a bunch of guys. She finds out her new boss on this project is Luke. Now she has to make sure he doesn't put two and two together before she gets fired. Luke realizes there is something about Gia that feels like they know each other. Will Gia be able to do her job without Luke finding out what she did to him. Or will Luke find out Gia lied about who she was and gets her fired for leaving him in Vegas?!!!!
What do you get when you push yourself out of the rut you've cornered yourself in? In this case you get a red-hot sexual relationship that ends up being so much more than sex.
Gia has always been the safe one. She's got the good job, good apartment, good friends and in most respects a very good life but… She wants more and that more takes the form of having her sexual fantasies come to life. Her friends talk her in to going to Vegas to go after the man she wants for a weekend fling but what if she discovers she wants more? As she gets back to her real-life things don't go the way she figured when she ends up having to work for the man of her dreams. As she tries to avoid him she can't help but wonder what if he knew she was the one that he spent the amazing time in Vegas with. Would he still want her or would he just ignore her? I liked how she let herself walk on the wild side but I didn't like how much she doubted herself even after the weekend. She's strong and opinionated but has a major self-esteem issue that I think is handled well in this short read.
Luke is the golden boy who has always had things handed to him with little to no effort. He's drawn to the woman in Vegas and finds himself pissed when she runs off without giving him a chance to spend more time with her. While they did have some amazing sex it was the fact that she pushed him and challenged him in ways he never expected that makes him continue to think of her even after she left. He decides to push himself at his office and is intrigued when Gia pushes his buttons and shows how valuable she is to his team all while avoiding him like he had the plague. This gets him more and more curious until … well.. I'm not going to give it away. I liked Luke and liked that even though he had things come to him easily he really didn't like that. He wanted challenge but it took spending time with someone that pushed him to be more for him to realize how bad he had let it get. He wasn't happy but didn't know how to fix it.
This was a nice read with some good heat between the main pair at the beginning and a real bit of conflict/issues in the middle. Thanks to NetGalley.com and Harlequin for giving me the chance to read this in exchange for my honest review.
FEARLESS is the latest contemporary romance novella from author Tawny Weber. The premise follows Gia Renyard as she embarks on a fantasy weekend to seduce a man who doesn't know she exists. With the help of her three best friends, Gia gets a head to toe make over to disguise her appearance hoping that her co-worker and crush Luke Monroe will not recognize the woman about to rock his world. But little did Gia know that the fantasy she had planned would become her reality when her heart begins to feel so much more.
Fearless is a Cinderella story where the hard working girl who doesn't take chances goes for the one man out of her league and her social circle. Gia has been infatuated with Luke for a long while, and when she discovers that Luke will be in Vegas for a meeting, her three friends convince Gia to make all of Luke's and her fantasies come to life. But returning home to the real world, Gia will come face to face with reality when she is re- introduced to her new boss.
Tawny Weber walks the reader through one woman's fantasy and dream of seducing the man she has always wanted. We get up close and personal as they explore the wilder side of letting go and having fun in the bedroom. The storyline is not sexually explicit but one that will pull the reader into the sensual and sexual antics of two people getting to know one another's body, heart and mind. They say 'what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas' but that doesn't always apply when the heart and mind are focused on only one thing.
The relationship between Gia and Luke develops quickly. Gia is on a mission and when Luke makes his approach, Gia is waiting and the game begins. Fearless is a story of seduction and the compatibility of two people who would have probably never come together in the real world. Both characters are relatable and likeable but the reality of the situation would probably never happen knowing that come Monday morning, you will have to face your weekend fantasy in the boardroom knowing full well that you left your panties somewhere in the room back at the hotel. ;)

At first look, Giovanna Renyard has everything she could hope for: great friends, a promising career, a fantastic apartment. But her sex life is inexistent… What Gia really wanted was to live a sexual fantasy, preferably with her attractive coworker Luke Monroe. Relationships between coworkers are not allowed at the company they both work, but Gia and her friends come up with the perfect plan: Luke is going to a convention in Las Vegas and, since he won’t be staying at the company for long, Gia will seduce him there, in disguise.
So, armed with a sexy dress and sexy shoes, with hair dyed and extensions, Gia becomes Vanna for a weekend and she discovers reality can, sometimes, be better than fantasy. But a connection between Gia and Luke starts to form, to the point where they both start sharing confidences, and what should have been only a weekend of sex with no strings attached, is starting to look like something more… Scared by her own feelings, Gia runs from the hotel and leaves an angry and frustrated Luke when he wakes up alone in the bed with no way of contacting the amazing woman with whom he’s spent the weekend.
Back to his normal life, Luke’s head is spinning trying to figure out how he’ll be able to find Vanna while, at the same time, he tries to figure out what he wants to do with his life. And Gia is feeling worse than ever, because she has had a glimpse of what could have been, but never will be. Imagine her surprise when she finds out her next project implies working close to Luke. Gia uses up all the tricks she can think of to avoid direct contact with him (even though she is convinced he would never recognize her), which obviously makes Luke notice her. And there is definitely something about her that intrigues and attracts him…
A little story, but with room for some character development, which I really liked. I also liked the main characters and the development of the relationship between them.
Gina Renyard has a good job, nice apartment and awesome friends. She just has a ho-hum sex life. She and her three friends get together regularly for girls' nights and will talk about everything, except, Gina doesn't have that much to talk about. When she lets drop that she has a bit of a crush on a co-worker who barely notices her, the girls spring into action to help Gina get one fantasy weekend of hot sex with drool-worthy Luke Monroe.
Looking around the Vegas nightclub, Luke's eyes come to a screeching halt when they reach the gorgeous, sultry redhead coming right at him. In town for a convention, he welcomes the unexpected distraction. Without exchanging any particulars other than first names, hers is Vanna, Luke and his redhead spend some pleasurable time together. Surprisingly they also had really connected just talking, but then one morning she was just gone.
Gina could not believe she had pulled it off, Luke had been amazing and he was actually a very nice guy. But she had gotten scared of the possibility of being exposed, so she ran. Back home, back to her own hair colour, her own clothes, her own nose ring..........and her job.
Gina tries hard to avoid Luke, but it seems the fates are against her, because when she is called in to work on a new project, Luke is her boss. Who will he see when he looks at her?
*******
An enjoyable quick read, not too challenging, but with enough bite and catchy dialogue to make it interesting. Add in a little challenge to the character, a little show of growth and development, some serious yummy skin, spicy sex scenes and you have an excellent few hours of diversion.
A fun, hot little number!!!!

This was my first book by Tawny Weber and it won't be my last. Fearless was a fun novella full of romance and fantasy. Fantasy as in a sexual fantasy that the heroine, Gia, wants to partake in. She is jealous that her friends are having all the fun and she is just boring old Gia. She decides to do something about it with the guy she has been crushing on at work. However, when she seduces Luke under disguise, she finds there is a lot more to Luke than a sexual fantasy.
I don't like books that are just about people hooking up so I was a little leery of this one. I need to feel the love and respect between a couple for it to work for me. I kept reading on and sure enough it was there. Luke and Gia both realize that they have more than just a physical connection. However, Gia leaves him after their time together and Luke is left feeling a little hurt. When they get back to work after their fun weekend, things take a turn and Gia is at risk for being found out by Luke. How can she possibly face him now?
Tawny does a great job of developing the plot and the characters in a novella, which can be hard since you have to pack a lot in a short time. I enjoy reading stories that take place in the corporate world (probably because I spend so much of time time in one!). Usually in contemporary romance we read about heroes that are either blue collar or are VP's or CEO's of some sort. While those are great, I like reading books where the hero and heroine have regular old jobs. It makes it more real. Gia's friends are so fun and I really wish I had a group of girlfriends like them. They are supportive and encouraging but also hilarious and will tell it to you straight if that is what you need to hear. If you are looking for a quick, fun and sexy contemporary romance I recommend you give Fearless a try.
I enjoyed this book by Tawny. This book includes Erotic fun, passion, laughs, heartache, betrayal and sweet revenge in this story.
If you found out your fantasy worthy crush was leaving the company would you try and get a chance to seduce him? Even if it meant going out of your comfort zone in order to do it? I think most of us would.
Gia Reynard has a job at Tri-Solutions which she likes but there is a hot guy also working there Luke Monroe, the company golden boy, that she likes but the company has a fraternization policy that prohibits relationships. So one night when she and her three closest friends are having a gab fest she blurts out she would love to get with Luke before he leaves the company. A plan of action is called for and the girls devise the plan.
Gia will do a quick makeover so no one will recognize her and she will seduce Luke while he is in Las Vegas. All goes according to plan Gia seduces Luke as “Vanna” and she gets her man. They are both enjoying the benefits of the seduction until they both start having real feelings for each other. Gia flees before Luke awakens. Luke is hurting after she bailed as he thought they had something special.
When Gia returns to work she is promoted and is now working under Luke. Terrified that Luke will recognize her she telecommutes and finally just backs out of the project. Luke figures out “Vanna” is really Gia and is furious until overhearing gossip about someone who was sleeping with someone else and was let go.
Gia is escorted to Luke’s office when she realizes he knows about “Vanna” and he decides a little sweet revenge is in order. Now if they could just make this work.

This is a novella that wants to be an updated, spicy Cinderella story, but given that it’s only 119 pages, it doesn’t have enough room for depth.
Gia and her girlfriends like to drink martinis, dish about sex, and make rules (a Girlz Guide) for being awesome. All of her friends have amazing sex stories, and Gia feels boring and ordinary in comparison. So she tells them that she’d love one weekend of passion with her coworker Luke, but she can’t because a) her work doesn’t allow fraternization, and, b) Luke is a god among men and she is ordinary Gia.
Since Luke will be traveling to Vegas for work, Gia’s friends prep and persuade her to seduce him in disguise. With fake red hair, a sexy, sparkly dress, and red peep-toe heels, Gia struts up to Luke and tells him she’d like him to be her sex slave. He agrees.
Their encounter is mostly summarized because the length of the book doesn’t allow details of their every move, or every conversation. They both leave kind of fascinated with each other, because sometimes enough sex, and apparently some amazing conversation, can lead to love.
In the real world, Gia tries to stay away from Luke, but he seems to appreciate her tech skills and her wicked sense of humor. Once Luke figures out the truth, thanks to a certain pair of red shoes hidden by her desk, Gia ask him for a commitment. And they live happily ever after! Probably!
I actually buy their relationship, because it’s a cute setup that plays into fantasy. I just would have liked more specifics, sexual or otherwise. This novella is kicking off a series of Girlz Guide books. If they’re longer and spicier, they would definitely be worth checking out.
I went into this intrigued by the premise of a forbidden work romance. And I was thinking it would appeal to me because of all the New Adult I've been reading lately; Women's Fiction should surely be just as good, right? Unfortunately, not so much for me.
Don't get me wrong, it was an interesting and appealing story. Gia and Luke have a very nice romance throughout. What I didn't like were a few things. One of them being that it was told in the third person, not just Gia's perspective, but also Luke's. I'm just not a fan of that. That aside, the way the story progressed just wasn't working for me. It didn't keep my attention to the point where I found myself inadvertently skimming to get somewhere. Then add on the way everything wrapped up in the end and I was just like, okaaay. Not that it was bad, just too easy, too expected. Me reading it: "Yep. Knew that was coming. That too." That kind of thing.
Fearless may not have been the type of book I expected upon going into it, but I did enjoy the story. The interactions and passion between Gia and Luke were great, they made the story worthwhile. I can say that Tawny Weber is definitely able to craft a cute story. I'd say give it a try if you like books in this category.
I was really excited to have the opportunity to review an upcoming installment of Cosmopolitan Magazine’s Red Hot Reads.
It’s been a while since I’ve read a Cosmo, but I remember loving the magazine when I was in my early to mid twenties. I think this book suits that age group really well. It read as being a little young for me, but I still enjoyed the story and can respect the literary elements.
I immediately loved Gia, and I loved her idea of becoming “Vanna” to fulfill a fantasy. I was a little sad that she felt that she had to be someone else to get Luke’s attention, but it fits with the story and the “Girlz” plan perfectly. The book is fast paced, and I would have liked a little more time between the plan and Gia’s arrival in Vegas. I’m not sure what I would have liked to read… maybe something about her experiences shopping for the trip, since she claimed to have a decent bag of tricks.
The sex scenes are definitely hot without being raunchy, and anyone who likes just a little kink will surely appreciate them. I enjoyed the chemistry between Vanna/Gia and Luke throughout the book as well as the relationship between all of the girls. It sounds like a group of friends I would have loved to have when I was away at school.
This book would be an ideal read for a young woman. I’m not sure that the Girlz Guide series is for me, but I have no doubt in my mind that Cosmo’s readers will gobble it right up.
