Lisa Bright, a young and curious Los Angeles music journalist, has no idea what she's in for when she tries to sneak into the exclusive underground Club Other. There are creatures inside beyond belief, men with claws and fur and toothy smiles...
But after an almost deadly encounter with the terrifying Old Pete, Lisa's only hope lies with Toby, a gorgeous werewolf with a southern drawl. She's about to fall into a dangerous world of blood and romance with no way out...
Well, I read this 17-page story teaser. Then, I looked up the rest of the series. Books 2 and 3 are 24 pages and 26 pages respectively, and the series installments cost $2.99 each. This means you will pay roughly $21.00 to read about 200 pages of meh quality to read the series through 8 books. Who would do that?
What are odds of finding two boring books in one day? And this one is less than twenty pages long and one of my favorite genres, go figure.
I am sorry to say I was yawning after the second page. And worse it was told from the “I” perspective which are very rarely on my need to reread list of all time favorite books. I hope my next choice isn’t a dud I am getting further behind on my reading challenge.
Oh, Lisa. You poked your nose into the wrong business here, didn't you? Not that I can blame her -- as a music journalist, Club Other would have been like... uhh, waving a rare steak in front of a hungry werewolf. Generally speaking, things don't end well for the steak. Just saying. Except that in my analogy, Club Other would have been the steak. THIS MAKES NO SENSE! Okay. Use your imagination.
Anywho. Lisa gets tangled up in something she wasn't prepared for and hunky Toby steps in to save her. Toby gets some quality outdoor boning time, Lisa gets a wolfish lover. I think everybody wins in this scenario. Oh, and there's a bad guy. He wants to do horrible, nasty, no-good things to Lisa -- including, but not limited to, killing her and disposing of the body. Good thing she has Toby to keep her safe!
I got this months ago free on Amazon and decided to read it.
Lisa wants to get into Club Other and she tried sneaking in the back but was caught and was about to be assaulted until she was saved by Toby. He didn’t give her his last name and neither did she to him.
Toby took her and even washed her dirty clothes. He dropped her off at her apartment and told her she should leave LA for a while.
Lisa didn’t because once she found her phone missing she tracked it and found out what Toby really was along with the guy that attacked her.
They had sex in the middle of the woods before the book ended, which was nice and steamy.
I give this book four stars and even though its one in a series I have no urge to buy the others because this was enough for me. The way it ended was fine in my book on endings.
This freebie was a nice short read that left you wondering what happens next. I can see the series as a whole having a lot of potential. The author definitely has talent. My problem is the length of each book in the continued series for the price. I'd rather pay for the collection than read each short story individually. I did find Collection #1, which is the contains Books 1-3. Call me cheap I guess, but I'm not paying $5 for 70pgs. Especially when the series continues for at least 5 more short stories. Now if she ever does a complete set I might reconsider. I think she's a great writer and the series has promise.
They say curisousity killed the cat. Well Lisa's curiousity about about this hush hush Club almost gets her raped and killed. Saved by Toby and his treatment of her only leads Lisa to more questions. Caught again seeing something she wasn't supposed to see leads again to Toby finding her and leads to her screaming...in pleasure.
This is a parts story. You get a little excitement, a quick sex and then the end. Leaving you to buy the next one to continue the story.
I got this as a freebie from my Nook (Barnes and Noble) so worth the price. It was an okay story and I might read more if the price is right.
Freebie short story. Lisa is a free paper journalist that reviews clubs. Through whispers shes heard of The Others but when she tries to get in the bouncer Old Pete rejects her. Not one to accept rejection, she sneaks to the back door & peeks through a window & seessome strange things. unfortunately someone sees her too. Old Pete is not happy & intends to punish her how he sees fit. Someone yells for him to stop...and thats all she remembers until she wakes up with Toby...but things get worse.
Really short intro. looking up the series I'm not sure i like it enough to pay so much for books so short.
Disclaimer: I am not a fan of vampires, werewolves, billionaires and other old boring cliches.
Not impressed. There's one sex scene which is rather short and far from sexy. The guy isn't hot at all. I'd give it 4 stars if it wasn't labeled as erotica. It makes a fine paranormal adventure story, but not a good erotica. If you are looking for a cool paranormal adventure, this is your thing.
If you are looking for something hot, sexy, erotic, then not.
Not a bad short story but the series title is a bit misleading. There is no pack involved, only a m/f coupling. The story was about the length of a chapter and free. The first in a series for free marketing tool definitely works in this instance as I've just gone and bought the boxed set of "books" 1 - 3. I'm not sure how much more I'll read after that however as the books are $2.99 even though they're so short. A price set at 99 cents would work better for them.
Wtf was that... Thank goodness that was free or I would have been pissed.... Get the first part and even the second part but wtf on the last part... Keep in mind this a story and a very short one at that.
This is well-written and sexy. THe story is interesting. The only thing I found wrong with it was that it should have been a long book instead of just installments.
Good beginning to the story, a bit short but can't complain. I might even have to read the next one. (lol) It definitely leaves you wondering, What's next!
For some reason, this story just hit all the right buttons for me and I really liked it. We only got a glimpse of the characters but I'm ready to read more of this series.
