"Surprise!" Greer's mother says with her unannounced arrival. What Victoria Swope is doing in town is a mystery but they quickly find out and no one is pleased. When Greer demands to be home-schooled with Talia, the lessons at Bittersweet Farm aren't restricted to dressage, cross-country and show jumping. If the half-sisters can't get along, one of them will be sent abroad to finish high school. Unable to bear leaving the farm's trainer, Lockie Malone, or her horse, CB, Talia grits her teeth and tries to move forward. It's soon obvious that everyone at the farm faces changes and challenges. Solving them is difficult and maybe impossible.
I really enjoyed book 3 in the Bittersweet Farms series. Ms. Morgenroth does an excellent job in further developing the characters, making each one more personal to the reader. More of the families past is revealed, Greer's mother takes stage, and we are drawn in to the emotional struggle it creates for Talia and Greer, providing common ground for their relationship to grow. Each girl, in her own way, finds love and solace in the horses that are such a big part of their life. I loved the story-can't wait for #4!
With Lockie on the scene everything changes and thats what makes these such great books. Barbara Morgenroth keeps this series alive with Wingspread being a great one. Lockie has brought a whole bunch of new to Bittersweet Farms and you will get to see a new side of Greer. Every horse lover will go crazy over these books.
