I swear Katie’s Red Stone Security books get better with each one. If you have not enjoyed one of the books in this series yet let me assure you that you can start with any one of them. They each work as stand alones and can be read in any order. Characters from past books occasionally have a tiny role. Just be aware that you will most likely meet a character she has plans for in a future book.
Vincent has been one such character on several occasions. He finally got his own story with Protecting His Witness. The title is quite appropriate. Vincent has never gotten over the love of his life walking away from him seven years ago. She just left without a word and disappeared from his life. He has looked for. He has tried to move on. Jordan is just a memory and the empty hole in his heart. When she shows up at his house his emotions run the gamut. He goes from confusion, to extreme lust, to pure rage. His feelings continue to stay up in the air the during the time he spends with her.
Jordan thought she was finally getting her life back. The first item on her to do list was to find Vincent and explain things. She wanted to explain everything. Jordan’s life is anything but simple, so of course her one simple task turns into so much more than she bargained for. She feels guilty for what happened between them seven years ago. Now she has unintentionally dragged him into a new mess and she has to deal with the guilt from that on top of so many other things. She also finds out exactly how bad her choices hurt the only man she ever loved.
It was so easy to initially dislike Jordan. Then it was easy to want Vincent to move past his anger. I then found myself wanting to throttle Jordan for not allowing Vincent to make his own decisions regarding what he wanted to do. These two will keep you on an emotional rollercoaster while you’re cheering them to their happily ever after the entire time.

Good writing, just not a very good story or plot for a suspense. Too bland for my liking. I just skimmed through towards the end.

Need more twist 3stars.

Reus’ RED STONE SECURITY only gets better and better……….

Protecting His Witness is the 7th book in Katie Reus' series Red Stone Security. This book tells the story of Jordan Alvarado and Vincent Hansen. They met while Jordan was finishing her college degree and Vincent was on medical leave from the Navy SEALS. Deeply in love, Vincent was planning to propose to Jordan when she disappeared from his life without a word. Now, seven years later, Jordan is back and free to tell Vincent the truth about where she went and why. When she disappeared, Vincent looked for her but eventually tried to move on with his life….but he never forgot Jordan or stopped loving her. Jordan had to leave Vincent and go into witness protection. Now that the threat is over, she came back to ask Vincent for his forgiveness, to try to explain why she left and to hopefully rekindle their romance. Her only obstacles are Vincent’s wounded heart and the person who is stalking Jordan and trying to kill her!!!

This was really two stories in one and they worked together very well. The first story was the love story between Vincent and Jordan; what they were before she entered Witness Protection and the question of whether Vincent can forgive her and get back to that place again. The second story is the stalker who is trying to kill Jordan; who is it and why does he/she want Jordan dead??

The first story was perfectly written!! As a reader I totally felt all Vincent’s emotions as he worked through Jordan re-entering his life. Readers can feel the depth of his many feelings as he sees Jordan again for the first time and as he finally listens to her reasons for disappearing. His feelings of surprise, betrayal, anger, happiness, love and finally forgiveness. And it isn’t a quick fix, his confusion is worked on through-out the whole book. But no matter what his feelings are he is determined to protect Jordan from whomever is trying to kill her.

And that brings us to the second storyline in the book. Who is after Jordan and why. After a couple of attempts on Jordan’s life Vincent is determined to keep her safe. With the help of his friends at Red Stone Security, Vincent is able to figure out who that is and they are able to set a trap to capture the psycho. Even though it has suspense and twists and tension and action, it all felt a little rushed….not that it took away from the story. I would have just liked to see more of the suspense in this Romantic Suspense novel.

Overall I completely enjoyed this latest edition to the Red Stone Security series. I loved Vincent, he was a true Alpha male, sexy as sin, makes you want to rip off your panties hero!!!! Jordan was smart, strong, beautiful and really loved her man and would do anything to make up for the mistakes and actions of her past. Katie Reus has a knack for merging together everything I want in a book…..romance, action, adventure, sexy time……..I just wish she would make them longer, they are always just too short!!!

I was very pleased with Protecting His Witness by Katie Reus. Sounds kind of a weird phrase for a review, right? Well I say it because I was just a bit disappointed in the last couple of Red Stone Security books because I thought they were headed towards more sex and less suspense. I know hot and sexy sells, but Katie writes such great suspense-filled stories I was afraid she was giving that up for the hot, intimate scenes.

Protecting His Witness was different, to me though with more plot and character development. Every time I thought an intimate scene was going to come, I would cringe thinking it was too soon without enough buildup in the story, but luckily, they were just teasers. Don't get me wrong, Katie writes awesome intimate scenes. They are very tasteful and appropriate to the characters, I just don't want to read several detailed ones in my romantic suspense books. I would rather pick up and read an erotic romance if that was the case.

Protecting His Witness is Vincent's story. He has been in several of the other books as part of the Red Stone Security team. We also meet the love of his life Jordan. She left him seven years ago without a good-bye and it crushed him. Now she is back and we learn why she left and if there is a chance for them again. However, she has a lunatic stalking her and it is up to Vincent to not only protect Jordan but to help put an end to the stalking.

Vincent is just as kickass as we all thought he was in previous books so I enjoyed him, although Jordan was a little annoying. She came back to ask for forgiveness and you can tell she wants another shot with Vincent, but then goes back and forth in her mind. She tries to play it off that she doesn't want to put him in any more danger, but I don't think that was very realistic. I mean, ladies, if your man was a former Navy SEAL and currently worked for a high end private security company, don't you think you would allow him to protect you because you believed he knew what he was doing? Yes. I think so. Other than those little bits from Jordan, I did enjoy Vincent and Jordan's relationship. They have good chemistry and you can tell they are meant to be with each other. We also get to see a glimpse of Vincent's family which was fun.

Overall, Katie did a really nice job with Protecting His Witness. The romance and suspense seemed well balanced and the ending to this one was perfect. Katie nailed it in my eyes and left me with a happy sigh. If you are looking for a sexy, romantic suspense story, I do recommend Protecting His Witness. And yes, you can read this one as a stand alone.

My rating: 4 of 5 ⭐

Without a word she left, just packed up her apartment, no forwarding address, nothing. Until now, seven years later, sitting outside his house in a car. Vincent Hansen can barely contain himself he is that furious. He went nuts right after she disappeared, not knowing what had happened, he wanted some answers......now.

Jordan Alvarado knew she would break his heart when she left, but she had no choice. The alternative would have been much worse in the end. He had just taken an honourable discharge from the navy Seals due to his injuries at that time, working for a security company and he had been so happy to be back with his family. The best she can hope for now, after all these years, is closure to start healing the hole in her chest.

Neither Vincent nor Jordan would ever have thought that their physical proximity would immediately flare up the sparks between them. But before things get out of hand, the air needs to be cleared, something that proves to be difficult for both of them. Over the years, Vincent has made efforts to move on without any success, but Jordan has never even tried.

When Jordan appears to be the target of a series of dangerous attacks, Vincent's protective instincts take over and up he calls in some help from his friends. He is not going to let anything happen to Jordan, nor is he letting her out of his sight. Not this time. She is his, and she had better get used to it.

****

Fast-paced, high energy, high octane story!

Although this is the seventh book in the Red Sone Security Series, each book is a stand-alone story.

Despite the fact that there wasn't a lot of room for character development, Ms. Reus did great work giving us as much context as possible in relatively few words. Enough to actually be able to establish a connection with each of the main characters.

I loved the connection between them......ultimately. Initially I thought the guilt Jordan would be carrying must be suffocating her, I know it would me. In fact I don't think I could have been as selfless in her shoes at that age. As for Vincent, I don't think anything other than a threat to Jordan's life would have been able to completely eradicate her abandonment of him, despite her intentions at the time.

The book felt like a full story, in spite of its length. That's due, I believe to the great flow and balance of the story. Suspense, action and romance, all well dosed throughout, made it an easy page-turner.

✨A great quick and steamy adrenaline read!!✨

Now he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe and convince her that she was always meant to be his

My Thoughts:

Jordan had no choice, but to leave Vincent when she witnessed a crime and was put into WITSEC for seven years as the trial took place. When the case finally closed she got out, took back her identity and went in search of Vincent for his forgiveness and closure. Seven years is a long time, but the attraction is still there and it burns hotter now than it did seven years ago. When planned attacks are targeted at Jordan, Vincent steps into the protector role and vows to keep her safe and find the psychopath who is targeting Jordan’s life. Vincent lost Jordan once and he’s not going to lose her again.

Once again, Katie Reus combines suspense, twists and turns, romance, passion, and smoldering love scenes all into Protecting His Witness making this another wonderful page turner. Fans of the Red Stone Security series will not be disappointed with Reus’ latest installment. Many readers who have been waiting for Vincent’s story will find his story to be a very satisfying read.

Posted on What I'm Reading

So, today I got a chance to read the next Red Stone Security book, Protecting His Witness by Katie Reus. I have to say I'm impress by the action, danger and the villain.

Jordan Alvarado went into the witness protection program seven years earlier, because she help catch a psycho. While in the process, she left behind her old life and a fantastic boyfriend, Vincent Hansen. Vincent never understood why Jordan up and disappear on him, but now he's wondering what she was doing back.

So, Jordan is picking up her life and trying to figure out to do with it. Since she has left witness protection, believing she is safe cause the psycho is presumably dead. Once she walks back into Vincent's life strange things start to happen. Not only strange, but scary things. Even though Vincent didn't understand why she didn't tell him, he's going to make sure to keep her safe.

I was impress by the story. The major surprise was the villain in the story. I was thinking it was one person, but I was completely wrong. Boy that was a shocker. Other than that, I like the reunion between Jordan and Vincent. It wasn't oh happy ever-after. Oh no, Vincent was pissed off at Jordan and scared her away. Realizing he made a mistake and needing to use his connection to find her. Once he realize Jordan was really helping him in the long run, he started the process of forgiving. I really did like that it just didn't magically happen. The only issue I had was when they catch the bad guy, it just seemed a little rushed. Other than that, I really enjoyed the story.

Plus, I love you can read the Red Stone Security books and not feel lost, because you didn't read the first story. Overall, I enjoyed the story. Those who like suspense and a little twist, might enjoy Protecting His Witness.

Protecting His Witness is Book 7 in Katie Reus’ Red Stone Security Series. You do not need to read the series to enjoy these book – they are able to stand alone but there are some “visits” from other Red Stone agents which make it worth your time to read the series. This is Vincent and Jordan’s story. First off let me say that I have anticipated reading Vincent’s book for a while. The prologue set up the book really well (it describes Jordan and Vincent’s meeting and relationship at the beginning). Jordan disappeared from Vincent’s life seven years ago with no word or explanation. This has colored Vincent’s relationships with women ever since. Fast forward to present day -- Vincent returns home from a trip to discover a strange car casing his neighborhood. He sneaks up on the driver and lo and behold it is Jordan. I really wanted to slap Vincent for his attitude in the first chapter of the book, but I did understand where he was coming from. I could empathize with Jordan and Vincent both about the circumstances and what made Jordan leave without giving Vincent the chance to go with her. This book had great suspense elements and a seriously hot and steamy reunion.

I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read in this series and I have to say I enjoyed it. The suspense is there from the first few pages till the end which makes you want to see what happens next.
I liked the Author’s writing style the story is well written and I can say after reading this one I will be checking out the others.
The passion and bond between Vincent and Jordan was there from the 4 months they had together till she disappeared for 7 years. They both moved on with their lives until Jordan could leave her life behind and become her again. I admired her for her strength in going to find Vincent to ask for his forgiveness it takes a lot to do that. And I loved Vincent response when he sees her again and they both realise that the feelings they had for each other are still there.
I really did love the suspense in this book it kept you on edge and the way Vincent wanted to protect Jordan was so sweet even if she didn’t want to involve him in danger, he was having none of it. This is a story of a second chance at love and you know when you love the ending because you smile big.
If you love your suspense with some romance and got a couple of hours to spare then I highly recommend this book.

A love that survived the years…

This review applies to the audible version.

This is the seventh book in the Redstone Security series that can be read as a stand-alone.

Jordan Alvarado’s actions one evening saved a friend and led her to a decision that impacted the man that she loved. She was in college at the time and four months into a relationship with him. She didn’t know where their future was headed so though it hurt her to do so she made the best choice possible for him without his knowledge. Circumstances have changed after seven years and the one thing that she needs to do to move on with her life is to apologize and hopefully obtain forgiveness from the man that she has never been able to forget.

When someone you love deeply leaves your life abruptly with no warning and no explanation your world is turned upside down. There is no closure and there are no answers. You are left with a huge rift in your heart and you always wonder about that person. That is what happened to Vincent Hansen, a former Navy seal who now works for Redstone Security. Seven years have passed and then the woman who he once loved returns looking for forgiveness with an amazing story, perhaps the only story that he could forgive her for once he got over his anger for not having been allowed to be a part of the decision that she made for him all those years ago.

This is a second chance romance of two lovers forced apart by a decision resulting from circumstances beyond their control. What they didn’t expect was for the fire that had always burned between them to still be alive after seven years of silence. Neither had found closure or another that could take the others place in their hearts. She not believing there could be more seeks forgiveness and he though angry soon finds that he wants to keep what was always his. But nothing is ever simple and as they dance around each other trying to resolve things they learn that someone with deadly intentions has not forgotten Jordan. This story has action and suspense and two strong and likable main characters. You get both their points of views as well as that of the villain’s. This was quite an enjoyable listen.

The narration was excellent; the words very clear, well-paced and easy to follow. Sophie Eastlake did a great job of narration and used different voices for the different characters which brought a depth to the reading and were quite believable for the characters. The change of voice for the male hero though I found perhaps a little too deep. One of these days I am going to listen to a book that uses a man for male voices and/or male POV’s and a female for the female voices and/or female POV’s, that is the only thing that could have possibly made this listen better.

I don’t think I will ever get enough of this series and the characters! I get so excited when I see that there will be a new Red Stone Security book releasing soon and I’m always very impatient to get my hands on it. And they just keep getting better and better! I honestly don’t know how Katie does it, but she does and I am SO very thankful! The men in these books are all the macho badass type, which I love and they have the best taste in women! I think what I love so much about these stories is that they are just so intense, packed with suspense and drama and hot steamy sex. I can’t help but fall into them, which is why I always have to devour these books in one sitting, because I just can’t stop reading. This one was no different!

Jordan and Vincent met and fell in love with each other 7 years ago but they are torn apart when Jordan just disappears one day. Now, 7 years later, Jordan is back and her reasons for leaving are pretty huge. And though he is angry with her for leaving him, he’s not about to let her go again, especially once they discover she’s still in danger.

These two characters are among my favorites of Katie’s characters and they really took me on an emotional roller coaster with their story. To have loved and lost like Vincent did or worse, to have found love but had to give it up the way Jordan had to, it's such an intense story. Jordan was a great match for Vincent, she took the heat from Vincents anger and then again from his sister and she did it all with her head held high. She knew she messed up but it was what had to be done at the time. And Vincent handled himself very well. Through all of his anger he knew he still loved her so he managed to just push it all aside. It's too often that the hero stays angry for longer than necessary and that wasn't the case with Vincent. Which made me love him even more!

This book was a hit with me (obviously)! I loved getting the glimpses of past characters and hearing a few tiny updates. Now, I am ready for the next Red Stone Security book and I have my hopes for who will be the hero but we will see. My fingers are crossed...and okay my toes are too.

If you have not ready any of these books yet you should go now and add them to your TBR list because they are a must read for romance lovers. I will never get enough of them and I hope she continues to write them forever! ;) Thanks for another great read Katie!

My review as posted at Amazon.com
I am a huge fan of the Red Stone Security series, for a few pretty simple reasons. The characters have great interactions, the plot is always paced well & the story never fails to keep me interested. Katie Reus' stories are consistently good, and Protecting His Witness is one of my favorites. Vincent is the typical Alpha male, protective of his mother and sisters, and loyal to his friends and fellow co-workers. "Tall, dark, and handsome. That was Vincent. When he smiled, that bit of wicked charm glinted in his eyes, guaranteed to melt any woman with a pulse." Loc 330 Truer words have never been written. Vincent is just do darn charming...and HOT! I understand why Jordan left him the way she did, but I don't know how she managed to live all of those years without him. "Leaving him had been hard, that word such a pathetically weak description for the truth..." Loc 1488. It made complete sense to me that the first thing she did was go looking for him! Beyond the satisfaction of their resumed relationship, I have to say that this has been my favorite of the suspense plots Katie Reus has written. I thought it was well-thought out and as I stated, it really kept my interest. I couldn't put the book down until I knew who was after Jordan, and how Vincent was going to make it all okay.

If you're a fan of romantic suspense, and haven't picked up a Katie Reus book yet, I urge you to try this series. The books can be read as stand-alones.

REVIEW

This is Vincent and Jordan’s story.

Vincent was in the navy prior to joining Red Stone Security and back in California he was dating Jordan and after only 4 months of dating he knew he was falling hard for her.

There was some random fires and women going missing and one night when Jordan was about to head home she spotted what looked like a friend who ran a boutique being dragged by a man in all black clothing.

Well many things transpired and Jordan finds herself not going home to Vincent.

7 years forward..

Vincent is in shock at the woman who is sitting her car out front of his home in Miami.
It’s none other than Jordan the woman who broke his freaking heart.
Jordan has come to ask for forgiveness and explain where she had been but
What she thought was left in her past has now found its way into her future.

Vincent although very angry has no intentions of letting Jordan out of his sight again.

So much transpires in this book. I love all the action and twists and turns the author puts into her books. And the romance is off the HOT charts.

Loved this book and this entire series so far.
Highly recommend it !

Katie Reus is an awesome writer!I have read a couple of her books & have not been disappointed yet.

This particular story moved fast! It was a 1/2 book for me... Jordan & Vincent were in love. Jordan witnesses a murder & is placed in witness protection for seven years. When the mess is over, she tracks down Vincent to apologize for leaving him with no word & to explain what happened. He's at war with his feelings because he still loves her, but isn't sure he should give in to her & pick up where they left off.

Low & behold, Jordan has someone who wants to kill her. Still! Vincent decides he is the one to protect her.

I wish I would have really looked at the cover of this book. The character description wasn't totally described until 40% through & I found out Vincent's mother was Jamaican... I could have pictured him better... I was thinking more Hispanic?? Well, until I read that part... I just hate having a picture in my head & then it changes in the middle... No biggie & had no bearing on the story/book at all... I just didn't know. I had not read the previous books, so I was coming in blind to the characters.

Jordan and Vincent have a past that left them both hurting and broken, and unable to love another the same way again. I adored these two. They have this chemistry that jumps right off the page. It’s obvious in the way that they can’t keep their hands off each other even after not seeing each other for a long time.

Throw in Vincent’s mile wide protective streak and someone stalking Jordan and the story really turns into a volatile thrill ride that I was happy to be dragged right along with them. They have the kind of love that most search their whole life for and I enjoyed the way the author made their love a living breathing thing.

This is a story full of action, love and scenes that will fog up the windows. A shining example of the way Ms. Reus easily blends action and passion and gives the reader an unforgettable wild ride.

I love this series and each book seems to get better and better. While you can read each book as a stand alone I would recommend starting from the beginning. You see characters from previous books in each new one. Vincent has been in past books and he had lost the woman he loved Jordan, when she suddenly disappeared. He had tried finding her but eventually tried to move on. Jordan suddenly shows back up in his life and on at his front door wanting to explain everything.
Experiencing Vincent's emotions as he deals with Jordan coming back into his life was a wonderful part of the story. He runs the gamut of hurt, anger, lust and love. Jordan was running from trouble and has now dragged Vincent into it anyways.
The story is a great mix of suspense and romance and holds your attention till the end. You cant help but keep reading to see if they will get their HEA and if Vincent can ever forgive the hurt and pain he was put through.

I have loved all the books in the Red Stone Security series, and book 7, Protecting His Witness did not disappoint.

Seven years ago Jordan had to leave Vincent and go into witness protection. Now that the threat is over, she is back to ask/beg his forgiveness and come clean with the only man she's ever loved.

Vincent's heart was broken when Jordan left without saying a word. But now that she's back he must figure out what his feelings are and where she fits in his life. As Vincent and Jordan try to work through their relationship accidents start to happen. Initially Vincent thinks he could be the target, but more information reveals that Jordan's previous threat may not be over after all. Can Vincent protect Jordan and keep her in his life this time around?

Ms. Reus gives us super sexy characters, incredibly hot smex, and delicious suspense in her Red Stone Security series. I look forward to the next installment!

Highly recommended book and series!

An amazing story..Vincent and Jordan..

It's a different story from the others..It shows the real power of love..

Jordan made a selfless decision, which may have hurt Vincent but in a way it was the right thing to do..And that's what Jordan ever does..
She witnesses a crime and she runs to rescue her friend..She chooses to hurt her love, instead of destroying his life and his family..She is one of the most decent and selfless characters I've ever read..

Vincent is simply an amazing guy..He loves Jordan more than anything..He would protect no matter what it took..He would have her forever no matter what it took..He would go anywhere,as long as it was with her..He is selfless in his own way..He is not afraid to give anything he has for her..

This series has many interesting stories, but Jordan's and Vincent's stands out..It's different and special..It teaches us the power of love and selflessness and courage to go after what's right for others but also for ourselves..

Protecting His Witness is book 7 of the Red Stone Security Series by Katie Reus. And its as enjoyable as the others. Filled with lots of suspense, romance and emotions. Action packed and fast paced.

This one centers around Vincent and Jourdan. Vincent was always known as a player and a lady’s man, but unbeknownst to all his coworkers, there was one who held his heart once. Seven years before Vincent was in love with Jourdan, and ready to commit to forever, but then Jourdan just left. With no word, no explanation, and no way of contacting or searching for her, Vincent’s life was changed.

Now Jourdan’s back and Vincent’s world has crashed as he struggles to understand why she stayed away so long.

Protecting His Witness was more emotional, I think than some of the others. There is a lot of hurt and guilt, but also very valid reason for her disappearance.

Very well written novel and hard to put down. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.

I am truly enjoying this series.

The second chances at love is great.

Jordan suddenly reappears into Vincent's life just as fast as she disappeared out of it.
She took part of him with her when she left. And she left part of her behind. They had unfinished business that needed to be dealt with. When Jordan is facing danger, Vincent has no plans of letting her face it by herself this time.

This story will pull you all different directions. The emotions that are played out make your heart stop, or your stomach drop out. You will hold your breath with anticipation of what will come.
Katie has a way of words that will draw you in and keep you spellbound until the last word.

***ARC received through Netgalley***

"Protecting his witness" is the second book written by Katie Reus I've read, and I wasn't disappointed by it because I actually prefer this one to "First Surrender". It was a quick and nice story about love that never really dies. You can get attached to the characters, and here no one annoyed me or anything so that was a pretty good point. I really enjoyed reading this romantic suspense with a touch of erotica. It was fast and light with an HEA. There was enough actions and the storyline move fast to keep you hooked to the story until the end.

After reading this one, I'm even more curious about the author and her other books.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book as I have the previous books in the series. I just feel like the story (which could have been lengthened) was packed into a smaller package that didn't do it justice. Normally there is so much going on that I don't want the book to end. I get so wrapped up in the characters. I didn't want this book to end either but only because I felt like I didn't get nearly enough. There seemed to be so many areas that didn't feel complete. But, overall I enjoyed the book and am happy I purchased it.

Katie Reus gives her readers another gift in this well crafted novella that is part of her Red Stone Security Series. She is an excellent romantic suspense writer and I recommend her highly. Her characters are always full dimensional and strong. Her pacing is strong, even if her books are too short! She always includes the right amount of romance, action, sex and suspense. Each of the novellas could stand alone, but why? Do yourself the favor of reading them all.

I am so happy to see Vincent's story. I have been patiently waiting(not) for his time and it was better than I expected. Most stories when their the length of this novel rush thru scenes and you feel as if you missed something. Not this story because in previous books with Vincent you knew that he was pining for someone, you now know the reason. Really enjoyed the story and will recommend it to anyone who enjoy a lot of action with some stupendous romance thrown in.

I'm taking another author's review & using it too: Sigh..... Yes, these books are addicting! They're GREAT! Each one is definitely different but none, & I mean NONE, are lacking! Everything flows magnificently, at this moment I don't know if Ms. Reus even knows how to write a bad book. I haven't found one yet & hope I never do, she's GREAT! I fall in love with her characters every single time, non stop!
