Carl McKever, at the age of 21, began writing pieces of poetry, prose, and thought-provoking essays. At the same time, he attended college and learnt a lot about persuasive writing with the Chicago School of Poetics in Chicago, IL. Carl has been a member of Florida State Poets Association (FSPA), Dubuque Area Writers’ Guild (DAWG), Iowa Poetry Association (IPA), Surf and Verse Poetry Club, and a myriad of other non-profit organizations promoting poetry writing. After gaining a love and knack for writing, he decided to get into self-publishing in 2011.

Without having much experience in authorship, he faithfully pushed himself to become an Indie, self-published author who has written and self-published seven books of poetry. Carl decided to combine the poems together based on category and certain seasons of his life. The books are made in volumes and the idea “Poetic Expressions” stemmed from Carl giving the freedom to express himself poetically in whatever fashion.

COVID-19 outbreak in 2020 was a very depressing time for a lot of people. Carl knew this and wanted to bring joy to the lives of so many others. He established and chartered a non-profit charitable organization called Tech Tuesday’s with Carl. This organization assisted Carl in doing teaching sessions through YouTube and his personal website on I.T. while giving away weekly gift-card giveaways to FaceBook page followers and supporters. The organization disbanded after one year and now, Carl has decided to return to writing and encouraging other writers.
