Twenty-five year old Angela Delimar seems to be living a normal, comfortable life – a double life that is. She has a secure job as an Account Manager at B.I.G. Insurance by day and tends bar at a dinky strip club by night. Her beauty is unquestionable. She’s wooed by many including her gym buddy, Officer “Rock” Johnson and club patron Gordon Hopkins. However, her convict boyfriend, Cal, is the man of her dreams and capturer of her heart. They would do anything for each other, and they do – even at the risk of their freedom. She even has two sets of friends: the club crew and May and Cherlise, her close and oldest friends.
But when Angela begins to get stalked, witnesses a murder, and her mother dies her two worlds come colliding together. The sequence of events that follow reveals that no one in her life is who they seem to be. When danger comes knocking on her door from all directions, will becoming too close with the club crew cost her everything and will Cal’s devotion go too far?
I was excited to read this title because the story was based out of my hometown of Newark. New Jersey. The title didn't really hold my attention. This title was all over the place. There was so much going on for one person to endure.
The story starts off with Angela being head all heels in love with a guy named Cal that she meet through her ex-boyfriend while they both were locked up. He finally gets out and she’s not so sure about being with him after she finds out some things about him and his behavior.
She doesn't know who she really is because of the secrets her mother kept from her. Tragedy strikes twice and she has no one to turn to. She wants answers from her mom that she will never be able to get. The book was just okay from me. Would I recommend it probably not? Again it was all over the place no character development and just seems like it was stretch out for word count. The story dragged out and still there was no closure to everything that was going on in the story. This book could have been wrapped up in one book no need for a part 2. I rate this book at 2 and 1/2*.
I love a good story especially one that is written by a great storyteller. Two Way Mirrors appeared to be a story of a young woman in love with the typical bad boy but readers soon find out that is all on the surface. The story follows the tale of Angela Delimar a young lady who shares a close bond with her mother, is in love with her incarcerated bad boy and does things she doesn’t care for the world to know. Through a series of events which include deep family secrets and breathtaking brutality Angela finds herself fighting for not only her life but for her sanity. She is in a race to find out the one woman who can expose the truth and help Angela heal but will the ever elusive stranger come from out of the shadows long enough?
I loved how well the story was told. There were scenes that literally had me flipping the pages anxious to know what would happen next. There were also some scenes I could have lived without such as excessive details at the most inappropriate times. Overall I would rank Two Way Mirrors a 4 star **** read and I think it’s a read that doesn’t disappoint. Excited to see what else this author can come up with.
Twenty-five-year-old Angela Delimar is at a crossroads. An account manager by day, and bartender at a strip club by night, Angela leads a very complicated life. Having recently ended a relationship with a convict, Angela finds herself in love with yet another bad boy. Cal Shay loves Angela to death, but how much does she really know about him? After a series of tragic events--the death of her mother, witnessing a murder, and the ultimate violation--Angela begins to question not only Cal, but all she has come to know. Who can she trust? And can she maintain her freedom long enough to find out?
Two Way Mirrors, by Just Jewel, is a suspenseful novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat. With well-developed characters and an intriguing plot, Just Jewel takes readers on a ride laced with drama, mystery and murder. Although the book would have benefitted from a final proofread to eliminate verb tense, unnecessary detail and other minor issues, Just Jewel still manages to weave a fascinating tale that leaves you wanting more. Given the ending, I suspect we'll be hearing more from these characters.
In “Two Way Mirrors” by Just Jewel we find a woman named Angela. Angela has a lot going on around her. She works two jobs to support herself but she doesn't have the best of luck with her love life and her friends. She is dating a guy in prison, Cal. At times, because of her love for him, she finds herself doing some illegal activity. In addition, there is a woman who seems to follow Angela around town. She shares her concerns with her mother who seems to know more about this mystery woman than she let's on.
It was hard to stay with the storyline because it didn’t draw me in. Just when I felt something was leading to a dramatic moment in the story, it never surfaced. There were many unfinished plots within the book involving the main character’s friends and extended family. If some of those could have followed through it may have been a better book. “Two Way Mirrors” had good potential. It just needed more development.
Angela is trying to just make it through life. Everything seems to go wrong for her in this novel that tells what real life is all about for the person who lives an average life and isn't quite on the right side of the tracks. The writing was great and the story pulled no punches when it comes to real life survival. Angela is a down to earth lady who takes life challenges without beating an eyelash. She is a wonderful strong woman who can teach people a thing or to about how to handle the things life throws our way. Enjoyed the novel and the author's writing style. Great job!
