An out of work actress can find herself in some shady situations. For Kitty French, some raunchy role-playing gone wrong lands her in the clutches of an honest-to-god vampire who decides she’s the tastiest of them all. Being a blood-sucker’s ongoing meal plan is not high on her wish list, no matter how searingly sexy he is. Will she escape from his cold lips alive, and will she still want to?
A bite sized, steamy, paranormal romance, Strawberry is a novella of 33,000 words, about a third the length of a normal novel.
Hi, welcome to my author page. I'm always looking for feedback for my stories, so if you want to read and review, just get in touch with me for a free copy!
This was a fantastic read, told in a first POV. The writing was good, with minor editing mistakes. Didn't mind them though, because it was very interesting and the plot fast paced. There was little character development and at times too much tell, instead of showing. The formated kindle version had the table of contents in the back of the book instead of the beginning. The author might want o fix it. Overall, I loved this story and enjoyed this writing style.
There was a story but it didn't really scratch the surface with getting emotions involved. I'd like this to have been developed more so you felt you knew the characters and what they were actually feeling through it.
I wasn't particularly enamored with Kitty and don't feel like I got to know Owen enough, I think that's where my main issues lay.
Despite it not being the strongest storyline, I enjoyed reading this! I think it might be as I've not had a vamp read in a while. They seem to have stopped being written which I'm sad about - there's a ton of shifter series on my kindle - which I'm not complaining about but I'm missing my vamps!!!
Anyway....
A nice idea to have the female as a down on her luck actress sent by her low life agent to play a "victim" in a live vampire RPG game held at a night club. Promised to not be anything sexual, all above board and paid really well....Kitty (come on....with a name like that? Her actual name is Kaitlyn which she changes back to later which is much better!!!!) couldn't really turn it down. All she had to do was play the helpless girl under the thrall of the nasty vampires.
After a while she started to have fun.....till she heard a voice say "stop. she's mine". The pretend biting stopped and she realised what the difference between the two felt like....
She was held captive as she realised that yep...vampires are real. But to him - she's just food. But she's something special to him - she tastes like strawberries ....something so delicious he wants to keep feeding from her......until she eventually dies.....
So....Kitty has to try to get out. She s chained to the bed which is solid wood....even after moving it to the balcony which took all day she saw no other signs of life where she was....but screamed none the less. Only birds replied....
All the efforts of trying to escape chaffe her wrists so when he removes them to clean them she desperately tries to run. No joy.
The only other way is to befriend him. Tap into his humanity? But is there any there?
After being a vampire for over 200 years Owen has lost any positive type of feelings at all. He doesn't want his food talking back and he doesn't want to spend time trying to keep her from escaping....
But she intrigues him......maybe if he cooked the favourite meal she would be happier.....?
No. That didn't work. It's food. That's it. .... Maybe if I take her out for a meal.......
Lines are blurred. Feelings confused. Species changed. Fate? Emotions? Soul mates?
Not in a rush to pick up the 2nd one but I might get round to reading it if it ends up on my kindle. One of those kind of reads you Know!!
When I started this book, I must confess that I had some misgivings. Owen is just so awful initially that I wasn't sure how Kitty could come to love him in a way that was believable or in a way that I could respect her. Fox did a great job having both characters develop and grow. The only thing that kept this from being a full five star rating for me is that I really dislike "wish-fulfillment porn," in which the heroine is showered with food, clothes, jewels, money, etc. and it overly described. This book had strong elements of that, much more than was necessary to establish that Owen was rich. Overall I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to reading more by Fox.
2 generous stars/5 - I just can’t with this story anymore!
It boring. The heroine isn’t likable even for an abducted person. The Hero is a boring and not sexy vampire. This is PNR. But there’s NO mating bond, no insta-love, no anything. Vampires are supposed to interesting and charismatic — at least in romance novels, our Hero isn’t in the least.
He says she’s just food. She’s a B movie “actress” that makes poor financial decisions and wants to live the Hollywood dream: food, clothes, job, makeup = FAKE.
The only interesting character in the story was the thrall because she was nuts. And then she jumped to her death during the only exciting scene of the book.
JUST NO! Nope not reading the next books. I don’t care about these characters.
I enjoyed this one. The heroine is candid, even when her feelings don't make sense. My issue with the book is the frequent mix of past and present tenses within the same paragraphs. Otherwise, the editing is very clean--only a sprinkling of errors.
This book is part of a series, in the pre-digital age of the meaning. However, this first book ends on an HFN that is satisfactory enough if the reader doesn't care to continue with the extended story. In other words, no cliffhanger.
Strawberry (clever name) was an enjoyable short read and a much different take on a vampire romance. Kitty, an out of work actress, finds herself trapped in a situation she could have never foreseen. She is strong willed, feisty, and has a gutsy attitude to keep her going. Owen, the vampire, is a little mysterious. I wish the story would have allowed the reader to get to know him better. There is a bit of steam, humor, and suspense for the reader. The story moves along quickly and offers a sweet little surprise ending.
After all of the vampire romance novels that I have read throughout my life, I truly believed that there could not possibly be any surprises left. I am amazed and excited to say that I was completely wrong. The ending to this book surprised me on the best of ways. I cannot wait to read another book by this author! I firmly believe that it is possible that I have found another favorite author.
An easy read this one if your looking for a story that doesn't take long to read from start to finish. I did read it in one sitting I wasn't sure of this at first, the idea of falling for your kidnapper just seemed predictable, frustrating & annoying to me. As the story progressed I found myself wanting to know the characters better, but as its a shorter story that couldn't happen, which is a shame. I'm happy at the way the story ended as I'm a sucker for a HEA.
Right at the beginning I felt like I'm not going to like this vampire! Then as it went on I felt so much for Kitty, and yeah her name did sound like a porn star name. What she went through was frightening and how she saved her own life while saving Owen's. Very good storyline and while very few characters they were ok. You must read this from front to end to understand the story.
I couldn't decide whether I wanted to give 3 or 4 stars. The first half to three quarters of this went absolutely nowhere. Then the last part was really good! Pity the rest of it wasn't about the big twist at the end. It would have been amazing.
A failing actress taking part in a fantasy vampire party not realising that a real vampire kidnapped her. He kept her shackled and naked for ages and then falls in love with him, as you do.
I got this book for free. I was not impressed with how the plot went. Also I want to know how her blood made him human again. I feel like that was just skipped over. Also why have a crazy person in your thrall, just kill them seriously. I didn't like it and won't read any more of them.

What an interesting vampire story. They are not usually my favorite but I enjoyed this vampire romance of Owen and Kaitlyn. Well written with lots of surprises and a great ending. I received an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review
A very good, fast read. It was sorrowful, but funny and snarky, too. I guess one could say that some old dogs can learn new tricks--with the right incentive.
Like a great sparkling wine this book is to be savored in sips. It slowly leads the reader to the ending we all want from the first chapter. I cannot wait to read the next book! Enjoy ya all I did!
I love vampire romance and this one did not disappoint. Started and couldn't stop reading til the end. Loved the characters and the back story was great. Looking forward to the next in the series.
This story was better than expected. The ending made up for the dastardly deeds that Owen in flinched on Kaitlyn while he held her captive as a blood sucking vampire.
I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more stories by this author. I found I enjoyed the different plot twists and never expected at the start how the story would end.
An easy and fast read. The concept was good and the strawberry bit was cute, but other then that the couple’s relationship didn’t have much foundation.
OMG, great book, the ending caught me off guard. Why can't Owen have a happy ending with Kitty? Why is Lance there? Owen better protect Kaitlin with everything he has!!
