Issy and James have come a long way since that fateful first audition. And now filming is finally underway, past dangers seem behind them.
But when a deadly character from the past makes a reappearance, their relationship will be tested to the limits. And Issy is about to find out, that fame and love don’t always mix.
Issy & James are finally getting their HEA and with the fourth book of the Spotlight Series. We have followed these two through the start of their relationship, the interference of the lipstick stalker, the sham of a marriage and then the lens of the media. But through all of that, they have loved each other.
But it's not all roses, James still has a past that he has not revealed fully and guilt that has stopped him from forgiving himself for things that weren't his fault. Until James comes cleans and is able to see his own worth his walls will remain somewhat in place. This felt like Jame's journey through Issy's eyes for me.
There was a little bit of drama that had unfold though. But all the questions were finally answered and the story was wrapped up nicely. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and loved the writing. Everything flowed well together and James and Issy stole my heart. I know that we may get to see a glimpse of them in J.S. Taylor's future works but part of me really wanted a few companion novels/novellas for the rest of the cast. So many of them had issues that they were overcoming and although it would be easy to just think they all got their HEA eventually too, I still can't believe it unless I see it.
A great series that kept me interested from book one to book four. And although it had the elements of a strong, dominant alpha male that liked a bit of kink it was different enough from the others that came after FSOG (and the likes) to stand out on it's own.
So loved that James opened up about his past to Issy and they could move on. Knew James was softy at heart.
Issy was a very strong character which I loved, about this series of books. She was emotional but was strong and that is what I loved about her. Most books have a weak woman character, who won't stand up to the man, Issy isn't like that. Issy stands up to James.
Loved the drama of that person who returned. Didn't guess who it was until the reveal. I thought that someone else was involved, helping them.
Sad to see the book series end but it was worth reading.
1st act - setting the scene. 2nd Act - starting the suspense. 3rd Act - building the suspense. 4th and Final act - the mystery is solved and the big reveal. Now all is left is the curtain to be lowered and to fall, leaving James and Issy behind the curtain. To move on to a new direction in life together.
I finished out this series out of curiosity sake, but definitely don't think it warranted four books. The lipstick stalker became way drawn out, felt like the plot was just barely tied together. Thankfully there were some sweet romantic instances that kept me going, but others such as Lorna and Camilla and Ben, etc. seemed to have been dropped/resolved quite abruptly. Decent writing, just not too much sizzle, still feel that there wasn't as much internal dialog to really get to know these characters as I would have expected after 4 books.
I'm going to create a shelf called guilty-pleasure where I am going to stuff books that probably enough of my friends will dislike, but I can't help but like.
This book was sexy and hot. The story improved more in this book as I got more from the characters and got more comfortable with the way J.S. Taylor writes. There were some really hot, steamy scenes.
The characters were great. I think the best part about the book was watching Issy and James's relationship fall in love. I also thought it was cool that I got to know more about James and his past.
Their relationship was really special, and my favourite part of the books. Through everything, they managed to still love each other even when there were so many obstacles in their way to happiness.
Also, the secondary characters made me laugh and fall in love with them too. I am glad to have learned more about Natalie, as she is not my favourite character, I think I understand her more because of this book.
The ending was great. This book contained some suspense as the lipstick stalker introduced in book 2 made an appearance into the storyline. The book ended with a HEA for James and Issy. It was sweet and romantic. Recommended for fans of FSOG. Overall, a great read.
I've read all the books and finished this one in one day. I really enjoyed it... I love Issy and James. James...I want a James. He is a beautiful man with a beautiful heart. Completely swoonworthy. The stalker part of the story took a twist that I wasn't really expecting. It was interesting. I loved Issy`s strong will and bravery. She was a remarkable leading lady. I envy Issy and James` love to one another. Truly beautiful. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes a good love story with a bit of dominance mixed with a bit of mystery. Great series...although I agree that it would have been better broken down into three longer books... not sure I would have wanted to cut any part of the story out.
Absolutely brilliant book! Shame its the end of this series but what a great ending to it! I love James and Issy, they are great characters. Some real funny parts in this and some lovely romantic ones too. The marriage proposal was the best! Was very intense towards the end too, had me guessing right to the end as to who the stalker was, didn't expect who it was either! The ending was lovely, great epilogue too! Such a fantastic series, can't wait for her next series!! Definitely a 5 star +++ read for me!
It was as expected... I liked it, because along this last installment, Issy was getting stronger, but ... as I said, just as expected.
"It's unbelievable, the gift of your faith in me. I feel like a mortal man in a presence of a Goddess". James.
"There are no words for how much I love you, James. If you are broken, I will fix you. If you are hurting, I will care for you. And no matter what, I will love you always." Issy
I mean, yes, we women and men have a certain attraction to fix what doesn't need to be fixed [or doesn't want to], but I'm getting a little tired of it.
In the final installment of the Spotlight series any questions that where left unanswered in book 3 were wrapped up and finally you got the answer to why James is the way he is.James and Issy are a great couple and they finally got their HEA. James really opened up in this installment and we got to see a new side of him that made you believe how much he loved Issy. This book was totally worth the wait and if you haven't read the other three in the series I would totally recommend doing so.
Good way to end the series. It was full of suspense and mystery, and it was wonderful to see James finally opening up to Issy. However, I would have liked to have read a little more about the characters introduced earlier in the series (Callum, Will, Natalie) - they seemed to be heavily neglected in this last book. And for the record, Lorna's side story seemed to create unnecessary drama, and then ended up being resolved very... oddly and quickly. Eh, so it goes.
I pushed to get to 63% and I just concluded I just can't finish it. I'm just bored and distracted when I read it. The author goes on tangents. I guess it was to give some sort of feel of the movie/acting world but it just didn't catch my attention. All that takes away from the real story of James and Isabel (whatever her name is) story. If I have to weed through that to get to the end, I think I'll pass. #Disappointed okay, rant over.
I'd give this 3.5, nice conclusion to the story. I loved their love, they had a belief and understanding of each other that I thought was realistic and endearing. The cons I would have to say for me were Lorna and it was a tiny bit wrapped up in a pretty bow. That being said I still think it was a class act.
I am getting very tired of reading books that come in installments. I feel that authors are dragging out the story lines past the point where the book are enjoyable. While I liked the story, I felt that the author dragged out the story to the point where it was difficult to finish reading this book.
Great book 2 end the series loads of twists an turns the endin was great James Berkeley what a man I just luv him an issy is still so strong an just a great character I luvd the whole series brilliant
Great ending to a great series, although I feel that book three was not necessary. This fourth book could have been book three. Loved the chemistry between all of the characters. And I loved the movie making as the backdrop. Highly recommend this series...Great story and hot sex scenes!!!
While this was the better book of the four it felt like the entire series dragged on unnecessarily. It literally felt as if the books were never ending. There was a lot more intensity in this last book and if the previous three were the same then I'd be a bigger fan of the series
So glad I didn't have to wait to long for this sequel. Another great read hot steamy romance with angst and mystery. Now waiting for more of Isy and James in Star Struck
http://www.unbrindelecture.com/2017/0...
WHAT THE FUDGE??? Another one...? Okay... I'll read it. But hopefully it's better than the last installment.
3.5 - 4 cups of tea. Better than the last one but still not absolutely amazing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The first thing that I thought when I saw this book was released (and existed): WHAT THE FUDGE??? THERE'S ANOTHER ONE???
I honestly thought that the story ended with the last one "The Director's Cut" but then there's book 4. Okay that does make sense with the title and everything but honestly I had figured with that disastrous third volume there wouldn't be another.
Well I don't like leaving a series unfinished and so I gave it a shot. It was good...not great.
The story starts out where the last one ended. And that's the usual case with sequels so no big surprise there. Now part way through reading I started thinking about what the plot of this story could be. What can they continue after everything's already been settled with in the prior books? Well I spoke too soon, because lo and behold, THE LIPSTICK STALKER RETURNS! Now I personally believe that the lipstick stalker arc is probably one of the best twists I've read. So after reading the second book and fully appreciating all the drama in it, I found the third book to be lacking, greatly. And in some way I'm starting to think that perhaps this story line was brought back because it was the ONLY thing interesting about this series. I know I'm being particularly harsh about this but I'm being honest in judging it and saying that I personally don't think there needed to be four instalments. Three would have been enough, but here I am reviewing the fourth book.
So all's good in Issy and James town. Until the end which is always the case. End a book with a bang and all that. I'm not particularly happy with the twist. Mainly because it seemed like the author only really focused and developed the character in this book. I think if we were introduced to this character and this character was brought up periodically throughout the series the surprise may have been more of, perhaps an obvious choice, but yet again by focusing on this one character in this novel it also made them the obvious choice. Take my rantings with a grain of salt but it seemed slightly obvious who the villain is. When I first read it though, I'll admit that I was confused about who this character was, mainly because after I was introduced this character I quickly disregarded them as anyone important and went on reading about Issy and James' relationship. Now this may be signs of a very good book twist but I found it to be too much of a surprise. I'd rather have something lead up to it and I'm anxiously waiting to figure out the answer and solve the mystery. Whereas this was more of a "BOO Guess who I am" moment.
There's not much else to say about this book. It was happy ending, albeit a little cliché in my opinion and overall an okay series. Not the best and not the worst. Just a fun read.
If possible, I found the story got more boring throughout its progression and this installment certainly lacked tension. All of the dramatic devices were there, but the tension didn't ring through.
And I can usually suspend my disbelief when things get a bit fantastic, but ! Not surprised about our villain's return and it was rather predictable.
Even the erotic scenes got a bit boring and ran out of steam for me. The 'epilogue' (if one could really call it that) was so silly. So much of Issy's concerns throughout were about whether she could handle being the girlfriend of a celebrity...and then it's all resolved in a paragraph? Please. They should have collapsed book 2 & 3 into one and made this book about the adjustments to public life. Even the results of how the film did were thrown away when so much seemed to hinge on whether Issy would be a star. It didn't feel like there was enough material to justify stretching the story to four books. Ultimately it was mildly entertaining, but there are other erotic romance series like this one that are more successful in their execution.
I sweet ending to the 4-book series surrounding the famous film director James Berkley and budding script writer/actress Izzy.
Yes, as the blurb and font cover say, it is for those who enjoyed FsOG and the like, and essentially this is a very similar story. I liked the acting/directing slant that this book/series took....made it somewhat different from the other series. There are some cheesey/corny moments in the series, what with the on-set stalker named....wait for it.....'The Lipstick stalker' who threatens Izzy. But, I enjoyed this book for what it is.....fun erotica. James is quite the hard/brooding man, who likes to be in control....and yes, likes to spank and tie Izzy up. Luckily, she has a submissive streak. The sex scenes are not overly bdsm....more kinky, although there is a scene early on in this book that shows how dark and dangerous James can be.
There was a trilling/scarey scene in this book - Izzy running through some corn fields in the dark, which kinda creeped me out abit. Then the return of the stalker (dum dum duuuummmm!) - which I liked!
Definitely worth reading for fans of the famous trilogy and anyone that fancys some good, sweet and kinky lovin'.
FINALLY- James and Izzy have their moment. I loved this series and I was so thankful for their HEA. I must say too, how nice it was that they finally could reveal themselves as a couple to the cast and crew because at times, it felt like Izzy was James' dirty little secret. As always, James is HOT in this book with Izzy but we see more depth with their relationship.
We also , finally get the Liptstick Stalker revealed...
It was nice to see some more of Madison and how she related to things and to see some people finally get their happiness too: Camilla, etc. I was very happy how everything worked out and how James and Izzy got their HEA.
OMG it was really a final act and very very very good book. very good serie. just incredible. I just couldn't and still figured out how I read this book in one day and I didn't spend my whole day reading it and it wasn't a two pages book but a real one with story and cliff hanger not one but a couple of them. And also depth could be found in this one. Nathalie had made some amend but figured what she was sick. gosh I still can't believe I have to separate myself from Spotlight from Romantic and controlling James and lovely driven Issy! really this book wow because my head was spinning with probabilities on who on what next. I even thought that James was a real psychopath. nobody could be sure how things could be twist!!! I was also tempt by skipping and read the end but I got a hold in my temptation. Some of this book were expected but not in a bad side. but very positive because it led to a very satisfying ending for a reader like me. yeahh now going for some glimpse for the next serie. can't wait to read aboit their appearance.
James and Issy's story continues as filming takes place back at the studios. All seems well, the Lipstick Stalker has been caught and life can continue, right?! Wrong; James has secrets to reveal, fear & shame of his past plague him, and he needs to make amends with his father in order to be truly free of his past. Issy helps him realize that his past is a part of who he is, and it's just another part of him to love. Oh, and there's still the unknown identity of the Lipstick Stalker to contend with, as well as the movie premier and all the related press attention.
I'm sad to see the series end, but I'm happy on where James and Issy are in their relationship. I would have loved an epilogue with a little more insight into their HEA, but all in all, I'm very pleased with the conclusion to the Spotlight Series.
This is a review for book 1-4 and let me tell you....
THIS SERIES IS AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!! I cant even put into words how much I've truly enjoy a series. I'm truly enjoy!!!
I would give the synopsis of the book but i believe it takes away from your experience. All i can say is that book is amazing...the chemistry, exposure, the betrayal, the friendship, the love/the lust!!!!! The passion!! Its Hot!!!
James is a wonderful book boyfriend to have, and you cant but LOVE Issy!!! Each and every character is just lovable (well the good ones)
This book is passion, this book is adventure, this book is suspense...this book is just AMAZING!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! Wish i had found it sooner
James and Issy finally get their HEA. Was glad to see the growth in Issy and her confident in her relationship with James and also as an actress. James does a complete turnabout with his life and comes out in the open about his past. A past that had made him paranoid about love and relationships.
Very good sex scenes in all the books, and James is an alpha male, always coming to Issy's rescue. She does some dumb stuff in trying to get to the bottom of the mystery of the Lipstick stalker. But it all works out in the end.
There were a few grammar errors and a couple of paragraphs that didn't seem right, but all in all the storyline was great.
excellent "OMG it was really a final act and very very good book. very good series just incredible.
