Kindle. Writing errors continued. This was the first book in the series where it began to drag starting a quarter in and really was dragging by the middle of the book. It became too repetitive plot wise. Like I was reading the same set up over and over again and I got to the point I was over it and felt it was all redundant. Lost my attention and I was ready to be done with this book early on.

Along with the repetitiveness of the storyline it seemed to drag in conflict resolution which I wasn’t really experiencing in the previous books of this series. While the focus on the storyline drama aspects outside of relationships seemed to take up the entire focus. It felt all the relationships that were focused on prior just fell into the background and were forgotten. Accompanied by all of the “burning” questions that were important and adding up in books 1-3 it didn’t seem to matter when the opportunities for said answers were completely in a state to be woven in and answered. Regardless of this being an easy and more surface read plot just fell off.

Happy for a HEA, yet the ending seemed abrupt and just plopped in. More along the lines the storyline was just cut off. Overall it was an alright read but while I was able to fly through the others this one struggled to keep my interest. Disappointing ending summary in conclusion.

2 Disappointing Series Stars

First, I want to say that I love a lot of books written by this author. However, this series was crap.

The writing wasn’t good. These books need extreme editing. There were a lot of wrong words like “brought” VS “bought,” those words aren’t interchangeable. Tons of sentences had random commas that weren’t necessary and no commas where they were needed. Then there were a lot of sentences with extraneous words, like the author had started to re-write the sentence and then changed her mind halfway through. I ended up needing to re-read certain passages multiple times, while trying to edit them in my head, just to figure out what the author was trying to say. At some points I felt like I needed a damn translator just to understand what was written.

The character development wasn’t good either. No-one but the FMC, Jynx, was more than a 2D, poorly written, stereotype. The guys were all basically interchangeable. There was the boss, the broody one, the jokester, and the emotionally vulnerable twins. That’s basically the extent of their personalities.

The relationship development was garbage. I think this story would have worked better if the author had made Jynx and the guys just BFF’s. The romantic relationships never really worked. It was like they were really good friends or teammates who slept together sometimes. No feelings involved. No intimacy. Once they were out of bed they were just friends again. I didn’t like it.

There were so many inconsistencies! There were many times throughout this series where I was extremely tempted to just DNF it. The only reason I didn’t was because I needed to learn Grandma’s secrets.

‼️Jynx starts off the book by telling us that she was almost 18 four months ago when she received her inheritance. But that was months ago, before the book even started, so she must be 18 now. Right? Right.

Then (at least 6 months later) she says that she is just 17.

…Okay…Fine.

Then she admits to the guys that she is 19…

…Sooo? Did the author just forget?

There were a lot of instances like this and it’s frustrating so read. It feels sloppy. Like when the guys tell Jynx that they are also 19, except one, who is almost 20. Later the author tells us he just had a birthday and now he’s 21.

‼️Another issue… There was a traitor to a criminal organization who stole secrets, blackmailed the Boss, and kidnapped the boss’s daughter. They find out later that the traitor only did it in order to pay for his sister’s healthcare. So Jynx pays for the care of the sister for the next 10 years and convinces the boss not to hurt him. Then Freddy the Traitor gets a promotion from guard to security expert.

Has this author never watched a crime TV show or an organized crime documentary? That’s like advertising your weakness. A criminal boss would need to kill the sister, the traitor, and all of his friends/acquaintances or it’s like asking for your people to betray you. It was so absurd and unbelievable I wanted to DNF the book right there. What sort of weak ass crime boss rewards a traitor? I didn’t pick up this story to read about ignorant bleeding heart criminals. Gross.

Anyways…I found out all of Grandma’s secrets in this book and DNF’d it once I had. I didn’t care about the characters. I didn’t care about the story. I liked Dark-Horse-Gerald and Super-Spy-Dead-Grandma.

I wouldn’t recommend this series to anyone.

Disappointed

Sigh. Well, I wanted to love the series. I actually did like the first 2 books. I don't know what happened, but the series went downhill after book 2. Book 3 started losing me. This book (4) was the nail in the coffin. It's like you have all these kickass characters, but they rarely have to use their skills because of Jynx's reputation? Also, all the perfect lovey dovey family stuff became a bit much. This was almost like a dark fairy tale with a happily ever after. The sad thing is that the series had potential. I really liked the main characters. I even liked the plot. But then the plot started going in a bunch of random different directions. When Jynx becomes part of the Ravens I thought it was an odd thing. But I accepted it. Then she goes back to the guys' home town and all that went down. By then I was like, "This is ridiculous." Even if there was a reason for our characters to go back to their hometown, why then do the whole Ravens side story? I mean, does anyone truly believe that Jynx took over the Ravens and within 1 week everything is running smoothly enough that she can take off for 10 days? The story just became too outlandish. Every "problem" got solved so quickly and easily that my eyes were rolling. They are always either busy or so tired that they need a week off. Which makes me wonder about their physical fitness. How are they so fit when they never exercise and, most of the time, their job requires little effort? They are all very young, but they need several days off even though they haven't been doing anything that strenuous? It's weird!

Whatever happened with her best friend and the boyfriend after all that drama? What happened with D? What, he just let her go off into the sunset happily? I'm really disappointed. Like I said, it started off great. I don't know why it ended so poorly. So many unnecessary characters and their problems brought into the plot. I just felt like it was a jumbled mess of random happenings between what was the actual story line. This series could have been completed in 3 books easily. Bummer

DNF @47%

The author's writing went from mediocre to just cringe worthy. I think it was the repetitive use of certain phrases, such as "Good Point", she used it & other such phrases so many times that I wanted to bang my head on a wall. I think she said "Good Point" about 5 or 6 times in one chapter alone, then continued to use it multiple other times throughout. Nope, I cannot even bring myself to finish it.

gangster pollyanna…. not in a good way

I normally love these stories, but I think I just read pollyanna with a gun.
Oooohhhh look, it’s a bad…. Nevermind we win!! No losses, no angst, no nothing. It was an repeat of the same thing over and over with some smexy scenes for some interest I guess. Ugh. So completely disappointed.

I don't know why I bothered. While slightly better than the book before it still fell flat for me. I kept wondering if AI wrote it. I want to go back and read the first book to see of it was truly as good as I remember it being or if maybe I'm just remembering it wrong.

The finale was ridiculous. This "badass" crew can't handle a single guy on their own? The showdown in the other town was all talk with her pointing her weapon at the bad guy who isn't holding his weapon and yet he still manages to pull his weapon fire it and hit her before she can get a shot off???? And the group of people I won't name to avoid spoilers that are supposed to be epic baddies don't help at all because they don't want to cramp a group of teenagers style???

It was poorly written, the spice was boring, the dialog banal, the plot not believable, and again a ridiculous amount of time spent on sleep. I had to force myself to finish it.

overall good read

This series started out promising however some where along the lines it lost its mojo. Book 1 and 2 kept my interest i was enthralled. I read Evers story first so when I saw how they met I loved it but in Evers story it eludes to something big bonding them and then this just skirts around what happened in this book so I felt let down. Book three and four should have been combined because it was a waste of time, they are both extremely redundant in conversation and honestly multiple chapters would be on the same conversation. They were extremely predictable and I found myself wanting more. I read so much I don’t mind predictability as long as it’s interesting this was not. Every situation handled its self for the most part and whatever you think is going to happen will. I loved the characters there was nothing I didn’t like about them. It was the execution of the story that bothered me.

Satisfying

The whole series was a resounding great read. While I didn't agree with the premise of the story line, they were raised in a mini mafia. The story was good and the characters were well rounded and I ended up liking each and everyone of them. Their lives were certainly interesting! Not for me,but the author certaintly has a highly entertaing imagination. At least I hope its imagination, I'd hate for this thing to be real. I look forward to reading more from this author. All in all a very entertaing ,and satisfying series. I hope a lot more readers find this author. A big thumbs up to her.

Good concept, needs an editor

This one drove me slightly crazy, because while all the books in this series need an editor, this one was extra bad. I love the concept of the story. I like Jynx and her guys, but the execution leaves something to be desired. The dialogue feels elementary and repetitive in parts and the constant word repetition and repetitive internal dialogue got frustrating. I’d love to see this series after a good editor got their hands on them.

Great series

I just wish it would keep going and going. The guys are great and Jynx is a fantastic character, the reveal in book 1 will live in my memory for a long time. I may even go back to book one and read the first few chapters for that scene alone. Asses were kicked, bad guys defeated and laws broken.

Fight, the fourth book of the Brokan Kings series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). I'll admit, this series is so long and intense sometimes, it's almost exhausting. Luckily, there is coffee, so I'm easily revived to continue onward. While there were still loose ends, the book (and the series?) wrapped up nicely.

Ties all the series togethef

It is really great to get the backstory of the amazing women in the Passenger world. They are so intertwined and answer all the questions the reader has and gives a glimpse into the beginnings of all these wonderful relationships. Cannot wait to read more!

Not an awful book, However it was a bit of a let-down considering how good the first one was. To be honest, I find conspiracies and super evil secret organisations to be annoying. I have no problem with mob families, or bad guys as allies. But when the secret society is the bad guy, it becomes cliche.

Fight

This is Jynx and her mens final book and boy is it packed with lots of action steam and fun. With learning new things about her and her mens families they kind of get an emotional overload but in some of the best ways. Love the stuff that Jynx and her men get up to and the lengths they will go to protect what is theirs.

Great read, needs editing again

Thoroughly recommend this author. All her series have strong characters & detailed plots. Genuinely cant put them down until I finish all the available books. There are lots of typos and grammatical errors in this version though

Loved it!

Lynx and her guys, once again, face down corruption, evil and insanity, to bring peace to those they care about, as well as innocent people involved.

This has been an entertaining and enjoyable series. The characters were interesting, and the storyline was enjoyable.

I KNEW it!! I had suspicions about who Gerald was talking to and thought it had to be somehow either her father or grandmother. Then I questioned myself about the grandmother when it was mentioned in a previous book about Treyton having attended the funeral and being so adamant about ensuring she was truly gone.

We also get a wonderful surprised that I hadn't expected but had been hoping for when it came to Mal and Mason.

I absolutely loved this entire series. It still kept me hooked and wanting more. The ONLY major downside in my opinion is not getting more about Jynx's father. There were also some things left unanswered. I still have sooo many questions! Like why did her father disappear? What happened to him and why has his body never been found? Also, like what happened with the parents hating each other so much, you know other than being psycho? We get some idea that suggests Rome's father being the culprit and cause after Jynx's father disappears... but like why?

I would really love an epilogue or novella where we get more of this group's story. I would love to read about them hunting for the family vault and much more.

This series was a first for me with this author and I'm definitely interested in seeing if any of the secondary characters mentioned throughout this series have (or will have) their own books.

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

thoroughly enjoyed this book

I look forward to the fifth book :) I have yet to find a series I enjoyed more than your books, and that’s on 10 years of reading. I recommended this series and a couple others of yours to a friend and they are hooked too.
