“It was always strictly business. I had never slept with a client. I wasn’t about to start now.”

Julie Facet runs the hottest matchmaking agency in Los Angeles, but she doesn’t quite believe in happily ever afters. Despite the file cabinets full of clients she has found matches for, she isn’t interested in anything beyond simply satisfying her own physical needs. When Julie meets the wealthy Leon Christensen, her professionalism is pushed to the brink. Leon is charismatic and cocky, and does everything he can to get under Julie’s skin. Not to mention that he owns the Poison Ivy, a nightclub that’s designed for every sexual proclivity and uses his own sexuality to push women away.

Will she able to find a suitable partner for Leon, who prides himself in his no-strings-attached relationships?

And what will Julie do when she discovers that her feelings for Leon extend beyond the professional?

I'll give it two and a half stars, with the caveat that there are probably readers out there that will like it a lot more than me. Me, I couldn't figure out where Julie's attraction came from. Leon was a dick to her from the first moment they met, and that's really putting it lightly. Then she spends most of the book building elaborate sexual fantasies about him that have nothing, and I mean nothing, to do with the reality of the man she'd met. (By the end I was skimming, if not skipping them.)

Suddenly she 'has feelings.' What? She may have fallen in love with her fantasy, but the real deal (who she'd spoken to 3, maybe 4 times) was still calling her a whore and propositioning her in increasingly horrific ways. Unattractive doesn't start to cover it. I imagine we're supposed to understand he's wounded and emotionally damaged. Our soft feminine urges to heal the injured male should be kicking in. Um...no. Just no. And when I thought Julie was finally gonna wise up and walk away he suddenly decided to bear his soul and the hearts and flowers start popping out all over the place. I think I got whiplash from trying to follow his sudden change of heart!

Now, I'll credit the book with having a lead female that is comfortable with her body, even though it's curvy and not a stick and with portraying a woman who is unashamed of her own sexuality. That really was refreshing. As was the fact that she wasn't gagging to give up her control and cater to all of his BDSM fetishes. In fact, the subtext seemed to be that Leon craved the bondage because of his unhealthy self-image and within the confines of a safe, loving relationship a rather more vanilla scene still filled the bill. There are so many Shades Of Grey clones out there that it was nice to see female sexuality as something other than the weak-willed desire to submit and male sexuality as predatory. Don't get me wrong, there is a little of this but it's no where near as strong as it often is.

I'll also admit that I might not have hated Leon as much if we were given any of his thoughts, feeling, opinions, etc. But the book is in first person, from the perspective of Julie and the reader isn't given a single insight into Leon that isn't mitigated through her. He feels very much like the creepy, life-sized cardboard cutout that she hangs in the corner and dreams about. He has no depth at all.

Add writing like this, "When my eyes finally adjusted to the darkness of the, shock stabbed my heart." Or instances like the time I counted the word 'car' used 8 times in two brief paragraphs and I start to loose the will to read on. These latter matters I really could and would overlook. But I found the interactions between Julie and Leon really quite repulsive. Nope, there wasn't a lot in this book that attracted me. I expect others to like it and fully acknowledge my opinion to be nothing more than that, but this was definitely not for me.

This book just didn't work for me.

I just did not like the leading lady, Julie. She had no friends. Didn't know her coworkers on any level other than her assistant listened to her instructions.

Leon was as fucked up as they come. Having went thru a terrible time as a teen, he got into bdsm. But, he is also a dick head. And not in a nice and sexy way.

I did finish the book, but it just did not appeal to me.

Where to begin? I like the plot it pulled you in , but the rest....well left me flat. I found myself skipping pages and at the end I even skipped the sex! There was more fantasy sex then real interaction between the characters. I started not caring about her clients or her life. We never really found out why she didn't believe in love, heck we never really found out much about her. Don't waste your time I wish I didn't!

This was originally released as a 5 part story. I'd previously read part 1 and rated it 4 stars. As you can see having read the complete story I've given it 3 stars.

I'd probably have given this 4 stars if it weren't for all the typos/grammar, some you hardly noticed, but others did detract from the story, and they eventually became annoying.

I've read other works by this author, so I pretty much knew potentially what I'd be getting, which is precisely why I read this book.

I really enjoyed the story, and liked the fact that Julie, the main character, really stood up to Leon. I can't wait to read Stills story.

In my review of another of this authors works I made a comment that also applies to this book, so I'm going to be lazy and just copy & paste that comment: "One of the bits that really bugged me was when they have anal then she gives him a BJ immediately! Really? Ewwwwwwwww. He didn't even give himself a token clean, that's just rude and inconsiderate."

Horrible editing. That normally doesn't kill a story for me but here it was way too often to overlook. Many times I felt the writing was inconsistent, like the story was one big jumbled mess of ideas that never translated properly once out of the authors mind. I can honestly say that I didn't enjoy this story and would not recommend it. I did give it 2 stars for effort and some creativity in the story set up...and wish nothing but the best to all new authors, especially with how competitive this genre is post FSOG and Crossfire.

This book is about a Matchmaker named Julia Facet and how she reacts when she gets a new client named Leon Christiansen who is very into BDSM and his dominant role. There isn't a lot of interaction between the two. There is one night of sex, a couple of rude encounters, and a lot of Julia fantasizing about sex with him, and then boom they can't be without each other. The love story is lacking in this book. Leon treats Julia good in her fantasies, horribly in person, and somehow that leads to love.

Oh Julie...what to say..it's funny that she runs her own matchmaking agency but doesn't believe in love..and Leon, well at least he does have a good enough reason not to believe in love..
then one night changes everything..they get together and it's explosive!!!
What happens next it's crazy..really crazy..
I did enjoy this story..it's witty and the characters are great..
the best scene was the one with the guy in the office..it would have been a great laugh if not for what happens straight after..

I kept reading this book thinking eventually the story line will pick up. I was totally lost and try to finish the story. Julie is in and out of a quickie with lots of partners in life. Does she has any emotions apart from building up fantasies about Leon. The only strong moment of the book is when Leon reveals how torn he was about Kevin his childhood friend. Leon is rude and is always insulting with his sexual undertone conversation. Otherwise nothing much to say.

I quite enjoyed this book. but the themes were simple. ice cold heart and falling in love.
But it was interesting how Julie dealt with her new client. A client which was cold and hotly charming but obviously rude.
she was able to pierced through his rudeness mechanism but in the same time he pierced through her heart but from lust or like? I think it was lust.
And I also get to read something less romantic in nearly the end so it was quite enjoyable.

This was just ok for me. I had a hard time connecting with the heroine, and the main male character didn't pull me in, either. I felt like he was fairly flat - we saw his nasty side & we saw his withdrawn & troubled side, but we never saw anything very loving or caring. Never saw anything that would make the reader fall in love with him..
Some parts just made me feel sick to my stomach (the way he treated her, mainly).

This one did not work for me. I felt bored from the first few chapters! I do not understand even the plot of this book where there is no plot that draws the reader in! The fantasies from Julie and the deliberate dirty talking to irritate in he beginning left me bored and thought " can this get better?" There was also many spelling and grammatical errors! There was only two scenes on the book where I thought was best done!

I received the ARC of the Billionaire Erotic Romance Boxed set and loved this one. This is a good story and would have been better if Leon wasn't such a dick to Julie. But it is his nature and his defense mechanism. The story was well written and I did notice a few errors but not enough to distract from the story. Great story Alana Davis and looking forward to read more.

I hate to write a bad review but I need to warn people about just how horrible this book is and left me feeling. I'm so damn pissed that I wasted my book reading time on this one. The characters have no redeeming qualities at all, they were perfect for each other because no one else should end up with either of them. I'm confused and irritated I wasted my time, sigh.

A well written book that just was not for me. For my taste there was too much sex and not enough story telling to back it up but that is just me. For anyone who enjoys heavy erotica this is the perfect book.

To repetitious..... Wrote the same thing over and over from one page to the next..... She fantasizes to much.....it would of been better without all the fantasies and sticking to the story line because it could of been a great story

I did not like Julie or Leon. both of them have double standards and need to grow up. Julie was unsociable with her own staff and that carried into how she treated her sex life. both need serious counciling for treating people the way they did.

I was up and down with this book. The concept of this story was good but Julie's fantasies annoyed me. Her fantasies were so detailed in the book and when she finally had sex with Leon it was not as detailed as her fantasies. Julie was dreaming more than she was living in the story.

I really tried with this one, but I did not like the main character. She was so vain and constantly thinking how hot she was and that all the males totally wanted to sleep with her. This was not an easy one for me to get through.

The main character Julie had way to many Fantasies about Leon. It got boring and really bogged the story down. Overall, I wasn't that impressed but for a box set not bad.
