There were a number of things that were not true in this book. Instead of focusing on one very small aspect of the effect of the EP, the author went into several and none were explained well. Either the book needed to be longer or the author needed to do this in several installments. There are a large number of good books to explain the Emancipation Proclamation/Lincoln's views on slavery/Southern culture and views towards slavery. This book isn't one of them.
