This seemed to be more about the state of musical theater in the late 1980s than about performance. My other gripe with most of the books like this that I've seen is that they acknowledge that the market for Broadway actors is tiny, but all of the advice in the book is still geared toward that end and not good performance in regional and community theater.
That said, the interviews with folks like Gene Kelly, George Hearn, Bernadette Peters, Nancy Walker, and Lee Remick which make up the bulk of the book were interesting.
Top notch advice from a man of much experience in the biz. Highly recommended to anyone who adores the craft of musical theatre and wants to improve. And let's face it... we all need to improve!
