Though there is definitely a lot of good notes and essays throughout, there is also definitely a fair amount of influence from bents towards theological liberalism. Definitely a good shelf resources, and it has a very good delve into Leviticus at a fairly readable level which is rare, just bear in mind it's not coming from a more conservative bent towards the faith and isn't as beholden to a lot of the historic holdings of the Church.

These weeks I am reading the Exodus section. I find the commentaries of Walter Brueggemann among the best of biblical reflections shedding wisdom from the past for today's life. Solid scholarship, ecumenical, with commentaries that give deep insight into the texts and concrete relationships and application to contempory life situations. Excellent for pastoral use and personal spiritual nourishment.
