Excellent
Great writing, superb storyline. The characters are believable, and I am very much enjoying these books. This paranormal series is very different from the others I have read. I can't wait to read book three, and see what happens in the third, and final book. Kudos to this Author for his great work. I hope to read more of his books.

I have to say I am really enjoying this series. In the second book I feel more of a connection to the main character Mora. She is coming into to her powers and getting to know the other Starborns as well. They all are learning to trust each other. I also love how the author incorporated the flashbacks of how the virus originated. I was surprised to see how much Evelyn had to do with Jeremiah, who by the way, is more of a monster than I could have ever anticipated!!!! I am at the edge of my seat. I just don't know how this is going to end..........

I read this in a couple of hours - without stopping. It picks up right where the first one let's off. The great thing about this installment is that you get a lot of the back story... you learn the history of the characters and where their motives stem from. Usually - a history lesson bores me, but here it was captivating.

A great book two of this uprising trilogy, which is filled with action, dilemmas and the evil Jeremiah. Mora is a strong and credible character.
We learn more about the past and Evelyn's part in the fight, in addition to her dealings with Jeremiah. The Starborn gifts are expanded and the whole story is coming together nicely.
Well-written, fast-paced and intriguing, this story is worth reading. I am glad I have the omnibus edition because I can now begin part three.
Highly recommended.

Kept me reading, action filled.Mora has learned a lot in a short , about Jeremiah, Evelyn, the star norm and the greyskins. Will she see the end of Jeremiah? How will things go from here? Big cliffhanger!

This book is so suspenseful!
This is a very action packed book! The twists and turns are unbelievable, and you just can’t wait for the next page! Love it!

Man this guy knows how to write a cliff hanger! Wow! I started this book this morning and I just couldn't put it down. The first of this series was just a warm up to get me completely inthralled in this one. It was nearly as good as the very first book of the first series.
All the details I was craving in the last book were here in the form of visions from Evelyn. I like Mora even more and find that she is the perfect one to lead the rebellion even if she is a love stuck teenager that pick between the brothers. Heck at that age I couldn't make up my mind either, and she even told them that now isn't the time to fall in love, now is the time to fight, or something like that. I didn't mark it because I was too busy burning through the pages to take the time.
This book takes up right where the other left off and has so many action scenes I'm nearly exhausted! My mind is reeling. I still don't know who grandma is and I'm starting to think that I could be wrong on my 2 guesses because Evie doesn't say anything about them. I know she was only 3 when she saw them last but I think she would remember.
Anyway this book goes all the way back to the beginning and shows you (through a vision) exactly how the grayskin virus began, how Jessi and Willow knew each other and how they were involved.
It's a very detailed and well written story, I would highly recommend this series to anyone who likes action, mystery, and paranormal stories. Now I'm on to the last one. I don't want it to end but I have to know what happens!s

Second out of three novels in the Starborn Saga, If It Kills Me continues the story of teenager Mora as she struggles to come to terms with her new powers, keep her family safe from the zombie-like greyskins, and understand her growing attraction to rival brothers.
Normal Connor continues to claim Mora’s heart, but his foolhardy bravery might make the decision between him and his more powerful sibling easy after all. Meanwhile Mora’s learning more of evil Jeremiah’s past, and the history of this dark dystopian world.
I particularly enjoyed the author’s technique for interlocking storylines—past and present, Connor’s journey and Mora’s, all well-told and well-separated without losing the reader in complications. Mora may feel “like my head has been run over by a truck,” as the stories blend, but the reader never does.
Multiple storylines help this book avoid the second-of-three slump and keep the action fresh and new. The final crisis is powerfully told, with lots of action, shocks and surprises. And Mora’s occasionally repetitive thoughts are easily excused—she’s a teenager. Ending with a pleasing mix of cliff-hanger and healthy resolution, If it Kills Me paves the way nicely for book three and leaves me eager to read more.

I came close to finishing the series at book one, yet something in the story (my inner starborn power perhaps) asked me to read the second book--I'm glad that I continued and will read the third one soon.
Zombie books, on the whole, don't always provide reasons for the immense decimation of human beings. That's one reason I found this book interesting--Evelyn (another Starborn, that can read minds with a touch) transfers her memories to Mora, and when Mora sleeps we see through the eyes of Evelyn's innocent mother, and how she became involved at ground zero.
We learn who Jerimiah was before the zombies and how he started the entire zombie apocalypse. His evil knows no bounds, and his powers are growing.
The story ends with Mora's certain death, which a miracle will magically appear in the third book, since she's the star of the series, and stars are never killed off.

My love for the first book made the series junkie inside me itch until I purchased the other two books in this series, If It Kills Me being the second in the Starborn series.
Jason D. Morrow has NOT disappointed me one bit in this book which mesmerized me and impeccably flowed from book one (Out of Darkness) to two without a hitch. I felt as if I had read one book as the suspense built into what I believe is the craziest shocker since I read Allegiant, but to be honest in my opinion this series surpasses that series by far!
This is a wonderful series get on board, and get yours today!

OK, before I talk about this book, I have to say there are a lot of suspiciously positive reviews for this book. I say that, having quite liked the first book (despite it's glaring flaws) and who had hoped that the second book would be even better.
Well, the cookie cutter love triangle is just as predictable, Morrow keeps setting up incredibly obvious situations for our heroine and she continues to fail to spot them, and the zombies are even less scary than in the first book.
The first book had novelty on its side. A few new twists on the tired old zombie genre. This book just felt like more of the same. Will book 3 have a little less teen angst and a few more genuine scares for Mora? I hope so, but honestly, right now, I'm not sure I'll bother with it.

One day. I read this book in one day. Even with work, I was able to do it. Work was like torture knowing where I ended and not what was to come. It was agony waiting those hours and the simple and necessary functions of eating, sleeping, etc definitely weren't going to happen. They just took to much of my time away from the world of starborns, greyskins, Mora, Connor, Aaron and the rest of the gang. I was blown away by the first book in this trilogy and straight into awe with the second installment of the Starborn Uprising series "If It Kills Me." Now onto the third and final book. Wish me luck!

I am really liking the series. I got it as a review copy from the author, but had already planned to purchase it anyway. I love the story, but a couple things bugged me. Trying not to give any spoilers, the flashbacks could have been done differently, at first I was thinking something happened during editing, and another book got mixed in. I honestly think Mr. Morrow is more of a story teller than writer, and that's what draws me in to all his books

Book 2 of the Starborn Saga doesnt pull any punches: a fast pace, lots of action, unexpected twists and a huge cliffhanger in a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way through. Mora's character development is great to follow and her growing abilities are getting ever more interesting. We also get an insight into Jeremiah's character and the beginnings of the greyskin infection, giving the plot a more extensive background. Can't wait to read the conclusion!

In this second book of the trilogy, we learn more of Evelyn, Jeremiah, and the greyskin virus. The first "flash from the past" did throw me for a second but I do like how it was done. I'm still having a little trouble with the love aspect. Just feel indifferent towards Aaron. Regardless, if you enjoyed the first one, I'm sure you will like this one as well (although, it does end with a cliffhanger)! I do recommend reading the first one before picking this one up though.

Totally and completely HOOKED on this series! I love how the plot is slowly revealed. It makes you crave the next chapter. I don't want to spoil the ending for those that have not read it yet.. Just know that I am counting down the MINUTES until I get a chance to read the third book in the series. Hurry up and send it to me Jason!

The second book in the series, had the most going on. it was quite fast paced for my taste, with a lot to remember, and especially nice presentation idea for the past long gone. there are no significant time skips of the main story, so all of them go pretty much linear. but it was a memorable read in the end.

Finished reading this and was desperately scrabbling to download the third book in the series. Ends in a total cliffhanger, but I'm okay with that since the third book was available and waiting for me to read it. I really like how Mora has developed so far, and the scenes that unfold totally work for the book. Loved it.

Exciting second book in the series. Meetings with Evelyn, we get to know her background, how she met Jeremiah and her complicated relationship with him. We get more Connor and his bravery and love. It is about the uprising of the Starborns. Can't wait to read the third book.

I loved this! The book picks right back up where the first ended, without a lot of "previously in book 1" references. The story evolves more, the flash backs are fabulous, and the ending had me starting the 3rd book right away. Well written! No filler nonsense, just lots of action and some twists along the way.

Simply put, this is the best "zombie apocalypse" setting I have ever read. It's built to be very possible even, and maybe especially, the way the world currently is.

Took me a bit
For me it took a little bit to get into, when I started it was a bit slow, but as I kept reading I found myself getting more interested, so stick with it, it gets better.

Very good book. Kept me hooked and ready for more. The characters were likeable and there was just enough untold to keep you from getting bored but ready to reveal more as you continued in the story.
