Sam Pink has established himself as one of the most original, uncompromising writers of the twenty-first century. Published for the first time in hardcover, "The Collected Suicide Notes of Sam Pink" collects all of Sam Pink's poetry in a single volume. Read it now and accept yourself as one of the doomed.
Sam Pink is the author of The No Hellos Diet, Hurt Others, I Am Going to Clone Myself Then Kill the Clone and Eat It, Frowns Need Friends Too, and the cult hit Person. His writing has been published widely in print and on the internet, and also in other languages. He lives in Chicago, where he plays in the band Depressed Woman.
i think now i've read all of sam pink's books and this one i enjoyed the least. still some good lines/sections here n there and it seemed to get progressively better but overall it was pretty weak. (i would *highly* recommend everything else by him.)
"and my lips are bloody from kissing my own ass so much" Cogent and succinct analysis of postmodern literature and the bitter suicidally fixated narcissists therein. the body, the blood, the attention to detail which erode the gods of our making and our delightful undoings.
One can hardly make it through two lines of Sam Pink's writing without chuckling, smiling, nodding, etc. A perfect mix of humor and darkness. I thoroughly enjoyed this, despite probably not being able to name more than a few poems that stood out as super great ("I Make Shapes" is definitely my favorite though). Particularly enjoyed the final collection of short story vignettes, "Gerald McClellan Versus Nigel Benn"
Would literally recommend this to everyone who likes to laugh a lot. Great for short attention spans. Reading this in short bits over the course of the last few months has been delightful.
Sam Pink is not for everybody. I don't even know how to categorize his work. Outsider Lit? Art Brut? Slacker nonsense? The ravings of a depressed, self-obsessed, weirdo? Maybe. Whatever it is, it scratches an itch that not everyone has, or admits to having. That said, I prefer his narrative work (I use that term loosely) over his poetry (I use that term loosely).
